Updated Social Information and future at FA
Posted a year agoSo things have been in quite the upheaval lately I don't need to say, so it'd prudent of me to offer my new locations going forward for the time being...
First in regards to FA, I'll likely be pulling back posting art here. Not that I was posting a whole lot mind, but for now I think I'll be dusting off my Weasyl account which you can find linked below. I'll still be posting banners for my streams here because gotta keep that social networking going, but with how things are going posting anything else here is probably going to be a no bueno...
By the same token with X I'll also be drastically reducing my activity there in favor for Bluesky, also linked below. I'd greatly appreciate anyone willing to follow me there since it's going to be an uphill climb for me to get back to where I was.
And of course, my Twitch channel is always going to be open, as I plan to continue making that my main method of communicating with the narrow venn-diagram of babyfurs and retro-gamers

Evercade stream this weekend; Suggestions/Requests?
Posted a year agoSo I'll be topping off my Evercade cartridge collection this week, and I think it might be about time we revisited the little retro-machine. I may even turn this into a regular feature since evidently this train is showing no signs of stopping even after 4 years.
That said I would appreciate some input; are there any games or cartridges you'd like to see me play? I'm considering making this a more regular feature akin to my Virtual Console roulette back in the day. Maybe with less of a random element to it, but leaning more towards community choice (perhaps even making use of my Channel Points again).
For a full list of games/carts check here and let me know if any of them have your interest; I lost the exact list of games I played on the prior stream last year, but I don't think I'd be too dour on revisiting what I played last time

Attempting something of a schedule here (Game streams)
Posted 2 years agoAfter nixing last week's stream I want to see if I can commit myself to something resembling a schedule for the next few weeks...
January 13th; Sega Genesis Mini 2 + CyberStick USB Showcase
After a considerable delay for multiple reasons we're finally doing a dive into Sega's follow-up to the previous Genesis Mini, featuring a new collection of 60 games including Sega CD, arcade and unseen prototypes! The delay in getting to this console however has borne unexpected fruit as we'll also be able to play compatible games with a special controller with it's own history; the CyberStick USB!
January 20th; DejaVu (NES) Ending or Bust
My love for ICOM adventure games is well known, but a confession must be made that of the three DejaVu is the one I have yet to finish. Let's see if we can change that, and should I fail one random member of chat will get a free sketch from me!
January 27th; Ace Attorney; Apollo Justice Trilogy
The newest collection (with a rather tenuous title-through-line, admittingly) we'll be playing through the first case of Apollo Justice; taking place 7 years after the end of Trials and Tribulations let's see how much the world of law has changed through the eyes of a red-vested newcomer!

Nixing stream today
Posted 2 years agoSorry folks, I suppose it's a good thing I was able to stream yesterday because whatever was dogging me last night caught up to me in full force this morning. We'll resume with something else next week
Stream Tomorrow; Super Mario RPG Remake
Posted 2 years agoPutting this out there as this involves a slight change to the norm (as much as had been established over... a week... then several months prior...?). We'll instead be streaming this Friday evening around 5-6 PM as we'll get my initial reactions to the new Super Mario RPG Remake! We'll be starting as soon as I can get home from shopping and cleaning up, might even skip the usual pre-stream preamble and dive right in.
My goal is to at least complete Booster Tower, my favorite area of the original game, and possibly Marrymore after that; with that said I'm not 100% confident we'll complete that in a single sitting, so we may do a secondary stream the following Saturday morning or afternoon, depending on how I'm feeling.
As for personal recovery I think last week's stream was a good test and I think I should be good for getting back into the regular schedule. I have a not-inconsiderable amount of backlogs and ideas to cover, so hopefully this momentum can keep going!

Health Update
Posted 2 years agoTo start off I wish to start with an apology; after some interactions with friends it would appear I might have been unnecessarily vague with my previous posting. While what had occurred last week was not initially life threatening I wanted to keep it closer to my chest for the time being as I wanted to be a lot more certain it was nothing more serious.
That said last week Tuesday I was diagnosed with Bells Palsy; a viral infection that effected the right side of my face and I have temporarily lost control of the muscles on that side. While a full recovery is likely it is going to take a not inconsiderable amount of time, with it often beginning as late as three weeks after the initial onset of symptoms and can last as long as six months. I'd already consulted a doctor and we completed an initial treatment plan, and for now all that's left is to just time to let the infection run its course.
Naturally in the meantime this will effect not only my ability to eat, but also verbally communicate. I'm slowly learning workarounds for all of these issues, but I don't really consider my current state to be anywhere near presentable for streaming with a microphone. Streams will likely be put on hold until things appropriately improve, although depending on the circumstance I may consider non-mic streams depending on what's being played, I'd still like to stream Super Mario RPG when that comes out, and the the slower pace of the game might lend itself more to keyboard conversation with the chat.
Other output like art may also be effected as well; my right eye not being able to close or squint properly also means I should be spending less time on the computer as it is much more prone to drying out and is more sensitive to light. But this like other issues are things I'll just have to learn to play by ear as hopefully improvements develop.
That's about all for now; I thank you for your patience and hopefully I can get back to streaming sooner than later; for it's not for lack of content at this point and I have many things I'd like to cover on stream sooner than later

A potential prolonged streaming hiatus...
Posted 2 years agoSo just as I was getting back into the swing of things, it looks like it might be wise if I take some time away from streaming for awhile.
In the last two days I've had some rather alarming medical concerns which I had checked out today. While we're still trying to determine what exactly is going on we're looking at treatment that should hopefully give more definite answers. While I should mention that this isn't life threatening, and hopefully things should be back to 100% in time, it may be prudent that I play things safe for the next while.
That's about all I am prepared to state publicly, I'll give any updates I can as they arrive.

Birthday stream tomorrow
Posted 2 years agoSo it's been awhile, but I need to shake the rust off, and doing what I want for my Birthday I think falls into that! We'll be playing games from one of my favorite series, Ace Attorney; Phoenix Wright, however because it's me it's not going to be anything resembling a straight line.
We'll be starting with a recent Homebrew attempt at porting the first game on the series to the NES, Phoenix Wright; Ace Attorney. It's got a long ways to go, but I'm curious how far this project will go, but It's far enough at least though that we can play through the first chapter!
Following that we'll be taking a look at a fan translation of the original GameBoy Advance version of Gyakuten Saiban 3, or what would be localized here in the US as Ace Attorney; Trials and Tribulations for the Nintendo DS. What makes this translation unique however is that it was released BEFORE the official translation on DS, and there are signs of what effects this translation had that somehow carried over to the final English version.
The stream will take place sometime tomorrow evening, baring any sudden plans or technical difficulties (but I do have backups should the latter fall through). Look forward to a banner post here or on my Twitter once we go live, or else follow me directly on my Twitch page linked below...

Tech Woes & Tears Of The Kingdom Stream
Posted 2 years agoGreetings all
So I had considered the possibility of streaming last weekend, but a dying hard drive kept that from occurring. From how things look today though, I think I've finally recovered the system enough that I should be able to get a stream going this Friday for a Zelda; Tears Of The Kingdom stream. Likely starting late morning or early afternoon I want to stream my first impressions of the game, and as I'll have the majority of the following week off work I may even do some more periodical streams through the week too (provided no more hardware issues pop up).
I'll post here and on my Twitter as more details begin to solidify

Extended streaming hiatus
Posted 2 years agoHeyla all
So my extended absence from streaming may or may not have been noticed. I announce on Twitter that I had intended to take the month of March off to recharge my batteries, and while I did have my return on April Fools, missing the next few weeks has proven maybe I haven't gotten my mojo back yet. This isn't for lack of ideas or subjects. Lots of recent releases have certainly caught my interest, but just getting my drive back has been a bit of a struggle.
Real life has been getting in the way too. Family events made this weekend an impossibility, as well next week I may be out of town. If there is anything I could immediately propose, I do plan on taking some time off work for the release of Tears of the Kingdom, so I may be streaming my play of that when it comes out.
At least otherwise I have been drawing a bit more lately, and I may post some stuff in the near future, but as for streaming I'll hopefully have more to announce in the future.

Stream Later Today; Castlevania Ending Or Bust
Posted 3 years ago https://www.twitch.tv/gamecentertc
So a heads up for today's stream, I'll be taking a long overdue attempt at actually finishing Castlevania for the NES. To spice things up however I'll be making this an Ending Or Bust stream; for every 5 Game Overs I experience, one random audience member will get a free single-character sketch!
Depending on how much time we have left once that task is completed, I may move onto a second subject on stream; a playthrough of the Castle Ravenloft board game with custom characters

Weekend Game Streams; Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium PLUS RAFF...
Posted 3 years agoSo just a heads up regarding streams this weekend, as there will be quite a bit going on;
First of all, I have finally entered the Elimination brackets for the Legend of Zelda; Link To The Past Randomized Mentor Tournament! I am now running solo in best of 3 matches with my first two potential matches being this Saturday and Sunday at 3PM CST. During these times the chat will be in Emote Only mode and will be on a 10 minute delay, so chat interaction will be minimal unfortunately, but you guys are welcome to come watch.
Secondly, this Saturday evening I'll be streaming the recently released Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium; specifically I'll be playing select games from the collection that may not have been featured in other, more recent completions (although I may make a few exceptions here and there). Oh, and I did mention a raffle; Those present at the end of the stream will be eligible for a raffle draw to win a download code for 'Three Wonders', one of the games featured on the collection. For the sake of mentioning the code will only be for the Nintendo Switch version and may not work on non-Western region systems.
Hope to see you folks there! If you wish to receive alerts for when I go live, follow my Twitch channel at https://www.twitch.tv/gamecentertc !

Stream Updates; None today but future subjects
Posted 4 years agohttps://www.twitch.tv/gamesdonequick
So my first week back to work after the holidays was pretty rough, so I think I'm going to opt out of streaming this weekend, at least for today. However in lieu of that I strongly recommend checking out the final day of Awesome Games Done Quick, continuing to support the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and as of this journal has raised $1.9 Million this week! Hit the link above to check them out!
That said it's time to update some potential future stream subjects, and I would love to get feedback from you guys as to what you might want to see...
1. Intellivision Lives! (GCN)
The Intellivision Amico is months away from release and it's fair to say at this point it's more notable for it's unfortunate PR rather than merit of any of it's games. That said we can examine just what was unique about the console and it's own early, fraught legal and release history.
2. Commodore 64 Showcase
A follow-up to my prior Vic20 stream and undoubtedly the most popular of the computer line, the Commodore 64 is actually a system I lack a lot of proper experience with. With recommendations from others I plan on doing a similar exploration of the computer similar to I did with the Vic20, looking at ports of popular console and arcade titles as well as those unique to the system. This is also a necessary precursor to the next stream subject...
3. Amiga 500 Mini
I have on pre-order the mini-console based on the successor of the Commodore 64 line of computers and another one I did not experience proper in its time.
4. NES ROM Hack Showcase
A look at ROM hacks of all flavors; from essential updates to classic titles to near complete original creations
5. Link To The Past Randomized; Megadrive MSU1 Soundpack
Currently the soundpack vetting is at about 80% complete, just one or two gaps to fill and a little more shuffling, but I'm honestly feeling pretty good about how it's coming together. I honestly want to complete this before my next LttPR stream, but we'll see how that pans out.
6. NeoGeo Pocket Color Selection 1
A handheld that unfortunately died on the vine but has recently gotten a new spotlight with ports to the Nintendo Switch, and with new titles still being released as recently as two days ago (SNK vs Capcom Card Fighters Clash), I expect this is a line worth looking into!
These are just some of the streams I plan to do for the new year, along with any other surprises that may come out (hopefully I can get my hands on the Taito Egrett mini arcade), but I'll still be continuing my other regular projects such as LttP Randomizers, Hamster Arcade Archive showcases, and the Virtual Console Roulette!
Speaking of the Roulette I've now added Channel Point redemptions that allow for audience participation and to give you guys greater control over what gets played on these Monday afternoon streams! Although the prices are still being adjusted the features are as follows;
500 Points - Game Control & Page Control; Modify the dice roll to change either the game on the current page or change the page used entirely (but still using the current game number)
3000 Points - Direct Game Request; This will override potential Game & Page controls and allows the redeemer to choose any game from the Virtual Console Library
Both of these rewards are on a 30 minute cool-down, so it will be first-come-first-serve, but it should prevent too many wasted point purchases. I'm still feeling this system out so I will request some patience as it get sorted.
That's about all there is for now. If there's anything you guys would like to see me try drop a comment below, I wouldn't be averse to trying some new things too. I hope to see you guys there and hope that you enjoy what I put out there!

Stream Later Today; Mega Man 3 & MegaMix Manga Overview
Posted 4 years ago https://www.twitch.tv/gamecentertc
A reminder for later today; I plan on doing an early Christmas Special for my stream featuring the first NES game I received for the holiday and one that had a significant impact on my gaming tastes as a whole, Mega Man III! Not only that, I'll also be covering relivant plot and character overlaps with the related manga series, Mega Man MegaMix! I'm hoping to see you all there as I've put a good deal of work and research into the stream! Follow me at my Twitch channel above or my Twitter page linked below to receive notification when we go live, likely around 3-4 PM CST!

Stream Schedule Updates
Posted 4 years agoHeyla all! I wanted to lay out some of the streams for the next week and change, starting with tomorrow afternoon!
November 06; Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Showcase!
The next tier of Nintendo's subscription service has been available for about a week or so now, and while we all have our own opinions on the pricing let's at least take a look at some of the games currently on offer, what's to come, and what games we'd be looking forward to! Both the N64 and Genesis apps will be covered and while we won't play ALL of the games we'll at least look at the most notable or unique to the service. I will also benefit from having the official N64 and Genesis pads and give my thoughts on them and their nessesity!
November 08; Virtual Console Roulette
Another Monday afternoon Virtual Console Roulette stream! Or most recent stream while perhaps brief included a playthrough of Super Bonk for the SNES and in a bit of a personal challenge a reverse-boss run of Mega Man 2 on NES
November 13; Zelda ALttP Randomized Mentor Stream with
BypassCensorship !
A day after Nintendo celebrates the 35th Anniversary of The Legend of Zelda with... a Game & Watch... which I can't really stream. Instead I will attempt to up my Randomizer game with the assistance of officianato runner BypassCensorship. I hope this one is as educational for you guys as much as it will be for me!

Weekend Stream; Super Smash Discussion With Bros!
Posted 4 years agoHeyla all! So I was able to wrangle something a bit different for this weekend's stream;
With the final Smash DLC dropping next week I thought it'd be a good time to bring some folks together for a discussion not only about recent releases, but also our own history with the series. Joining me are FA members
CubiShax,
Moorph, and
WoodpeckerToons, as well as fellow retro-game enthusiast X-Buster, currator of the MonsterWorld Fan Discord Channel!
We'll be starting later than usual, around 7-8 PM CST but I hope to see you all there!

Game Stream Later Today; Doom Corruption Cards
Posted 4 years agohttps://www.twitch.tv/gamecentertc
Heads up folks! After taking a break last week today we'll be doing a showcase of Doom mods, starting with a run with the custom ruleset of Corruption Cards! Each stage introduces new rules, new concepts and new hazards to contend with, randomly selected and giving myself and co-runner
CubiShax a run for our money!
Other mods to follow include the goofy and the admirable, but I won't give anything away just yet! Follow the Twitch link above or at the Twitter linked in my profile to receive notifications when we go live!

Deltarune Chapter 2 Stream This Weekend!
Posted 4 years agoSo the news as of about 20 minutes before this journal, is that Deltarune is being released this Friday at 8PM EST! I think it's only appropriate that I stream my first impressions... now weither I should change things up a bit and do it Friday night, or save it for Saturday morning, I'll hopefully decide in the next day or so. Keep an eye here for further updates!
(Also yeah, SO stoked for this)

Game Stream Later Today; Ending Or Bust Super C
Posted 4 years agoJust a reminder, today at roughly 3PM CST we'll be doing an Ending Or Bust with Super C for the NES! I will be attempting a one-credit-clear of the game and each failed attempt will result in a free sketch for one active audience member! We'll also be following with another Konami NES showcase, featuring robotic sportsballs and another licensed property handled with interesting care than isn't starring adolescent terrapins.

Weekend Stream; Super C Ending Or Bust & Konami Showcase ...
Posted 4 years agohttps://www.twitch.tv/gamecentertc
Foraging into the jungle once again this weekend, attempting a 1CC run of Super C on the NES, with each Game Over netting a restart and a free sketch to one active member in chat! Following that we'll be taking a second look at Konami's NES output including cyborg-based sports-balls and yet another (admittingly hateful) take on a popular, licensed franchise!
Check in at roughly 2-3 PM CST this Saturday, and either follow my Twitch channel above or my Twitter linked below to receive notifications when we go live!

Post Birthday Stream Tomorrow; Maxivision 15-in-1
Posted 4 years agohttps://www.twitch.tv/gamecentertc
Just another reminder; tomorrow around 2-3 PM CST we'll be looking at a completion that might not be amazing on it's face, but still means a little something to me and my summer memories of renting games. The Maxivision 15-in-1 released in mid 1993 and featuring games from developers like American Video Entertainment, Oddyssey, and... Sachen...

Weekend streams ahead; MSU1 Tutorial & Post Birthday
Posted 4 years agoJust getting some groundwork ready for future streams planned;
During the Ending Or Bust/Konami stream last weekend I was inquired about how I made my custom MSU1 tracks for Zelda; A Link To The Past Randomizers, and this was something I was considering answering in long form for awhile anyway. At the beginning of next week's stream then I'll be giving a brief overview of what's involved in making a custom PCM track; I'll cover all of the steps post vetting your track including finding necessary data from your sourced audio tracks, to building the script needed for conversion. I might not get into as much nitty-gritty as most other tutorials out there, and I certainly recommend looking for those if you wish to get serious about it, but I hope to at least provide a springboard to those willing to put the effort in.
This will naturally be followed by a randomized Zelda LttP run.
The following week the stream will be the day after my birthday, so I'm going to stream whatever the hell I want. In this case I'm not promising QUALITY content per say, rather something just personal to me. We'll be looking at an obscure little cart known as the Maxivision 15, a complation of (funnily enough) 15 games from a swath of smaller NES developers, with some games being more infamous than others.
Here's to hoping to see you guys this weekend and next week! Stream start time will likely be 2-3 PM CST this Saturday
