I didn't have this issue with the accent challenge, but on the same day I recorded it, I had to throw out a vocal take because of it.

Basically, for no reason whatsoever, at random intervals, the mic will simply not pick up sound for half a second or so. This has occurred in a number of things I've recorded, and there's absolutely no way to fix it other than to completely do a retake.

I have a feeling it's not so much the fault of the microphone (my lovely Nady USB 1-C), but the system I'm using, which is a shame because it's the only one I can record from.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The vocals, by the way, were for an instrumental track I begged  mandoandy for like back in November I think, and I've been sitting on it all this time and I feel really bad for not coming through with anything to make it worth his time. ._. I need to get this done.

Lately, I couldn't give two shits about furry. Oh, I still like the art and music, but that's because I like art and music (and boobs; there are always boobs).

But my life right now is all ponies. I don't even really identify with my furry persona anymore, though I still use the name numerous places.

I said it before when I found ponies: I've never seen a fandom so supportive. Except that I have. It was called furry, and it was about eight years ago. These days, I feel like the fandom -- and seriously, when I say 'the furry fandom', I mean Furaffinity -- has just given up on me. Notice how I've stopped doing pretty much anything here? No feedback. Hardly any attention whatsoever. It hardly seems worth doing anything. I'm still not giving up, I've got lots of album reviews after all, it's just... Not as important anymore. And I don't feel like sharing the things I'm actually doing will be interesting to anyone here. I do those EQD journals pretty much for my own edification and, like,  baree because I don't interact with him anywhere else.

And then I did a meme that was mostly just "how much do you act like an animal" and I am not insane or an idiot, so the answer was "not much". :V But hey, talking points!

I'm doing a music add, probably the smallest since I started using this system (barely over 300 songs!), so I'm here to let you know which furries made it onto my list!

Awards are hard to give out this time, since no one got more than two songs in. c.c gpenn's "God Let the Animals Drown" is pretty amazing, though, so I'd give him the Best New Artist based on that. Best in general would probably be Technomancer (again), although Inzane Sonikku makes a really awesome showing with both Pink Fluffy Hardcore Unicorns and a remix of a pretty awesomely obscure song.

And speaking of my system, it's being severely hampered by Windows 7. D: This is my first time doing a music add since upgrading and it's just... Ugh. Why must autosort always be on? Nothing like having to load all the furry songs into the folder, then open up the bulk rename utility (oh man, I just got that today, it's beautiful) and take the "Furry - " tag off the front. I need a new system, I guess. :/

I upgraded my audio editing software recently and, because I haven't used it much over the last month, have completely forgotten just what it is I'm supposed to do with these files before they're finished. @_@ The first step is normalization; I think the second is compression, but I forget if that's the word. If I can find the word, I can figure out how to do it, it's just making sure I'm calling it the right thing.

And while I'm here... That's just for speech. I Love Music and dramatic readings and the like. Musicians, what do you do to your vocals, assuming you multi-track, to make them sound nice? I'm not sure if what I do with speech is the sort of thing I should do with vocals.

I ain't even gon' pretend it's the whole fandom what needs to see this.

Man, I'm really not on the ball. D: This has been up for two days and I forgot to mention it on the internets at all. This one's about shipping, and it's based on a song.

Also, I just realized I've had an average of one story posted per month since June. Go me. :D

Yes, I am coming to you LIVE from MY ACTUAL COMPUTER although it doesn't feel much like my computer because everything looks funny and not many of the programs I use have been configured to work with it yet (that'll be tomorrow's goal). But it works, I have internets and adblock and scriptno and HOPEFULLY THIS WILL NEVER FUCKING HAPPEN AGAIN.

Now, the one thing (two things) that I am missing are my IDE hard drives. Currently one is empty and the other has my music collection, which is backed up on my external and unnecessary for the moment. I had gotten a PCI IDE controller card, but it turns out it was incompatible with Windows 7. I guess the guy who sold it to us said it might have issues (I don't remember hearing this, my mom does), and I just could not get it to work. So now I'm left with either trying to get a better IDE controller from somewhere else or looking into enclosures. Either would work, but something that would allow me to keep them inside the case would be SO much nicer as a solution. ._.

If anyone has any suggestions, I am open to them.

The other day, I legitimately got a virus/trojan. Got rid of it though. Installed ZoneAlarm and ran CCleaner.

Then, the trouble started. msiexec.exe keeps calling ping.exe, which sits there doing something and using up all my CPU resources. I've stymied them by blocking both from accessing the internet, but ping keeps coming back. I know it's not a fake one either, because I searched for both programs and deleted everything that wasn't in system32 (where both programs are supposed to be located). Shredded the recycle bin and everything, just to make sure.

Meanwhile, my browser's had a problem for a while where if I close a tab before it's finished loading, it will open back up with a huge URL until it's finished loading. Sometimes, it will do this twice.

More recently, I've also been getting occasional popup windows. No idea what those are about. All scans come up clean. I'm at a loss.

Since about, oh, August at the earliest, we've been getting calls from "Tom at Home Security" offering us to demo some kind of home security system. I figured out after the second time they called that the person was a recording, because it introduces itself, asks how you're doing, waits for you to say something, and then responds in the same way every time. Not to mention, "Home Security" is as much a legitimate corporation as "Card Holder Services" (we get calls from them, too) or "Financial Institution" (I made that up, but I'd be willing to believe it exists). After I determined that, I just started hanging up on them.

So today, they called around noon and I hung up. They just called again, and I, feeling slightly punchy, waited for Tom to ask how I was doing before shouting, "GOOOOO FUCK YOURSELF! :D"

Now, I do not feel bad about having done this, let me get that straight. We took down the information finally and are going to report them to the AG because DNC (PDQ). But oh my god... It was like I'd seen a ghost, I was so shocked. D: I'm still having that "g-g-g-ghost" feeling a little bit. I can only imagine that it is actually a recording, but that someone's monitoring it. That's the only thing, in my mind, that makes sense, because it's been exactly the same every time except for the laugh.

Goddamn. ._.;

Update: They called back at 6 with the same recording and I apologized, to no reaction. XD I plan to carry on a conversation with them from now on.

But when I do, it's pony related. My reaction to the new banner (and the reaction thereto):

-This banner is awesome. I have wanted one for months and I can't believe they did it!

-No one ever likes the banner anyway. I canNOT remember a single banner that didn't cause butthurt. Less butthurt than others perhaps, but there are always neighnaysayers.

-You know bronies hate furries, right? The fandom started on 4chan and you can't mention furries around bronies without at least one starting a shitstorm. It's the greatest hypocrisy of the brony fandom.

-I apparently watch a lot of very sensible, level-headed people, as the worst negative reaction I've seen so far has been, "It looks like shit."

-Taste my pain when Fat Bunny Week happens EVERY GODDAMN YEAR.

-Someone who I suppose is a fairly popular artist posted a reaction picture and got 800 fucking comments on it, most of which were "FUCK I HATE PONIES RAGERAGERAGE". One guy said if you're a brony, you renounce the title of 'furry'. WAT

-The furry fandom has seriously reached a new low, and that's saying something. If I had to renounce my furriness to be a brony, I so would. That said, I still like this place way too much to ever give up on it, even if I feel like it's given up on me.

-And finally:

I come here to check my messages, see 4 new comments -- exciting, I like comments! -- and it turns out three of them are on something that got deleted, which means they were all, no doubt, on something of someone else's I commented on last night. <.< Goddammit, I wanna know what was said.
