I live! Rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated... and probably not a thing, either.

I'm still throwing stuff at the moon and life is generally good, so I want to catch up on all the arts I haven't posted as of yet. There's some fun stuff and some things I've forgotten over the years so this'll be a fun project.

However, some of it needs some cleanup, so I'm hoping a friend of mine will assist with this. That is, unless you folks out there know how to fix gutter shadow and other scanning artifacts. PM me if you do. :D

Man, life is strange sometimes.

Not too long after I posted my last journal here at FA stating that I would "engage more", I got laid off from my then-current job. Things weren't so great for a few months, so the promise to engage more kinda went to the wayside. I struggle with depression a lot and a side effect of that is having a real problem doing things that I enjoy. Dunno why, but I have a palpable aversion to being happy in my day-to-day life. Sure, there are big events in my life that I enjoy and during those I am genuinely happy, but between those moments I'm living with a hearty 'meh'.

In any case, I wasn't unemployed for too long. In a couple of months, I picked up a new job where I am helping throw things really hard at the moon. Life has managed to return to some semblance of normalcy, so I figured I'd try to toss up some submissions like I promised over a year ago!

Around. Well... kinda? I've not really been doing much of anything except working and going to the "local" conventions: AWA and FWA. I did manage to get to TFF in 2017 as well. If you've attended those you'll probably have met up with me. It's really easy to kinda vanish in the static when there's not a heck of a lot fandom-wise going on near your home. Also, there's my Twitter feed, @Tam_Chan, but I don't actually talk a lot there, I usually just retweet art I find appealing. A good friend described the feed as "well-curated tiddy" so if that's your thing feel free to follow!

However, I took a last-minute trip up to Anthrocon this past weekend and met up with a lot of friends from which I had become estranged. Definitely too many for my feeble mind to remember and list here, but you know who you are if you're reading this! I was actually somewhat surprised that they remembered me, much less the stuff I've posted here. I have kinda up and vanished over the last few years. It was great to sit around with like-minded folks, eat good food and share stores and jokes (and art!)

Speaking of art...

Yes, I'm still commissioning stuff. I haven't been posting for the same reasons I haven't been "around": I've just been lazy and unmotivated. I only caught up with scanning that last three years worth of stuff a couple days ago. Now I have to go through it all, crop and resize, tweak colors and shit and remember when I got the pic and who I got it from. Already, I'm talking myself out of doing all that. Blargh.

Also, the IMVU acquisition of FA spooked me a good bit. I debated pulling everything from here and moving to Weasyl or FurryNetwork or one of the other aggregate sites... but FA is the big boy on the block and if you actually want to get your stuff seen, you need to post it here. It sucks, but that's how it be. So far it doesn't look like IMVU is going to fight to get its mitts on the users' content but one can never tell. They did buy this site for some investment reason after all. Call me Chicken Little, but I'm a bit jaded when it comes to business stuff.

Anyway, back to commissions and art and all that jazz. I'm going to try to create a schedule of uploading and keep that schedule until I catch up with the art that I have. A lot of it is just floating around and I've got to archive it properly on my end before I can post it here (and at the other various sites). And since I really haven't beaten my laziness and morose as of yet, I dunno when I'm gonna start. I do have to scan all the AC stuff I got... So if you follow me on Twitter, Telegram or any other place you know me from gimmie a kick in the pants to get going. It helps to know that someone is interested.

So yeah, AC was great and I got guilt-tripped into engaging more. Maybe that's a good thing.

So I've started up a new imageboard for peeps to come and hangout on. If you're not familiar with imageboards, think 4chan. If you don't know what 4chan is... erm... okay? :3

The standard rules apply: don't be a dick, the admins/mods will decide when you are being a dick, "anonymous imageboard" = "freedom of speech", no CP… you know, the usual.

More than that, it's an experiment/project that I took up to learn more about hosting a PHP project and to get used to the LAMP stack that I work with on a daily basis. As time goes on I hope to add to the site's functionality, maybe offer web services… who knows? I don't. I basically have a playground and I want to mess around in it, and you're invited to troll along.

So I loves me some Skullgirls; it's an awesome fighting game and deserves WAAAAY more attention than it's gotten. Right now, it's in a competition with a few other fighting games to get the last spot in the Main 8 at EVO, the world's biggest fighting game tournament. To win, the game's supporters have to raise the most money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation!
