Anthrocon!
Posted 17 years agoI shall be there! I have a table! It is C01! And it is next to the lovely, glorious Kyote! www.furaffinity.net/user/kyote Apparently I'm accross from Flying Horse Head Studios, a few tables down from Bonk, whose art I love, and the same comic book stand shall be behind me as was last year, I think (which was kind of weird, two middle aged people and their young, maybe 13-year-old son selling furry porn and trying to look at mine, but they had all the Blacksad volumes, so I was happy in the end).
So it shall be interesting. Every day, my best friend, Raff, asks me if it's time for AC yet. No, no it's not. Unfortunately.

Printer advice?
Posted 17 years agoSince I don't have to blow a whole bunch of money on a new computer, I have banked enough to make an art purchase! Now, I can either go with a larger scanner rather than my older one that I have now (which was $50 when I bought it, and I think I got what I paid for...) or a new printer that can do 13x19 printer.
I'm thinking that the printer would be a better investment, so I can make my own books at a larger size, and make some nice poster prints for shows and conventions. But I'm not sure what kind to get, or what kind to avoid. It also needs to be compatible with Mac OSX. I have about $300-$400 set aside for this purchase, but I certainly could save up more if I needed to.
So! If you have any printer experience, let me know what you think! Laser or inkjet, brands, etc! Thank you!

YAY!
Posted 17 years agoWriting this from my new (old?) computer with a new hard drive. So it's partially a new computer. Beautiful beautiful 230 GB HD for $109. Not bad, not bad! There have been no further problems with the computer, and this was a ton cheaper than investing in a new one.
ART SHALL SOON FOLLOW
Though I think porn hall be censored so that it doesn't migrate anymore. Or there will be watermarks. Or something.

To whoever's been reposting my work on e621...
Posted 17 years agoPlease don't post the adult artwork that I've been doing lately. I'd rather not have that circulating too far. And there's no way in hell I'm giving my real name and address out online. I'm almost annoyed enough at that policy to request all my work be taken down from there. But then I'd need to let some random furries know where I live and my full real name. That, and they have banners that they're making money off of, and I do not. So it's using my work to make someone else money (though probably not very much, I've always assumed this stuff goes to bandwidth costs?)
Also, don't post the pictures of younger characters (The ONE PICTURE I have of anything under 18, and they're not doing anything inappropriate, thankfully) on what is primarily a porn site. That's creepy.

Questions!
Posted 17 years agoI have a few questions, if you guys don't mind answering them. For improvement!
Do you like my digital work better, or real media?
Does it annoy you when I post sketches?
What do I need to work on in my images? What could use improvement?
Should I post my adult work here, or take it all over to my other account on FA (Fiala)?
Which of my characters would you like to see more of?
Are you interested in commissioning me?
Do I owe you artwork? Since I DID reformat my harddrive and lost a few things, I lost some contact information. I'll be posting more on this soon so I can HOPEFULLY get everyone back on track and get my commissions done. Please PM me this information.
Thanks!

Computer Update!
Posted 17 years agoAs you may well know, I'm savin up for a new computer because this one is increasingly unreliable. However! I've found something odd about it that may help in diagnosis (as a hardware test told me there's nothing wrong with my computer, that everything's A-OK!)
When I beat it, it works. The ticking stops, and the computer restarts. As indicated here. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v.....ternocandy.jpg
It works best when it's on my lap rather than on a table for the beatings. I have NO IDEA what this means, but the harddrive IS right there. As shown HERE. http://www.itechnews.net/wp-content.....ook_inside.jpg
I do have the tools now to open this puppy up, but I'm always worried about screwing up electronics, due to my highly static nature.
UPDATE! I took the hard drive out and there was some sort of white goo on it... so I wiped that off and reseated it. No explosions have occurred.

Helpful Furry Comic Survey
Posted 18 years agoIf you take this, you get ten points. The points mean nothing, but I'll like you more.
1. Do you currently purchase any anthro themed comic books?
1A. If you do, do you do so regularly, or just at art shows and conventions?
1B. If you do purchase them regularly, do you have a subscription?
1C. What titles do you purchase?
2. Would you purchase a comic book or furry persuasion if it was a bimonthly installment?
3. Would you prefer a higher price on a comic book if it was in full color? Or would you prefer a black and white interior and a lower price?
4. Would you prefer an R-rated comic, or PG-13? More adult content as far as situations? Porn is not an option here, mind...
5. What price range would you pay for a comic with the above aspects taken into account?
6. Any other questions or comments?
7. Would you be interested in contributing, and...
7A. Would you actually be reliable in doing so?

No, it's not my art, but it's still really pissing me off.

Respect
Posted 18 years agoWhilst waiting for my painkillers to kick in, I had a thought.
So, apparently there's been a spot of drama concerning a high-profile furry artist and convention art show applications. I'm sure many of you know of this by now, and I think the most important thing that drama can produce is discussion! Well... eventually down the road, when we've all had a good laugh. But if not, let's at least talk about respect, because I think that a lot of clashes with the "upper levels" of the fandom and other artists and fans alike comes from a lack of it.
I respect many other artists in the fandom, as well as fans. I really hope that I don't come across as arrogant, but I also want to seem professional (As much as I love chatting, I have a romantic life, group alcohol consumption, entertainment, cooking, and an academic life that need tending. You know. Life things.). No, furry art is not what I intend to make my living doing, but it's a very nice supplement/part time job, and I just really love drawing.
I know that other people in this community are the reason I can make this a small business venture, and I wanted to say thanks to those of you who have made it possible.
So, let's just go with you guys don't act creepy or make me decipher illiterate variations of the English language, and I'll keep on being thankful that I'm able to do what I do here, and post fun things for you all to enjoy. Cheers!

Computer Behaving Badly
Posted 18 years ago... which is why I'm backing everything up today, just in case.
Since Wednesday, my computer has been having little shutdown fits. It'll just turn the screen off, and there will be a ticking from inside the computer. I have to turn it on and off 4-8 times before it will stay on, rather than having a darkened screen and, again, a muted ticking. Even after that, sometimes it will shut down once the desktop loads, and I must repeat the process. After that, it seems fine for a while, sometimes days.
This is freaking me out. My warranty, of course, expired on January 18th, so this little bastard is my problem now, and if it's a faulty logic board, I may as well buy a new computer, since they run about 1,000 USD, and this computer was 1,400. I'd love to switch over to Windows at this point, but all my art applications that I actually have licenses for run on Apple.
Looking this problem up, I see that it has happened often on Macbooks, and that there's no set cure, and sometimes, it never gets fixed. I don't have my installation CDs here, so I'm going to have to wait until I go home next Thursday to erase everything completely and reinstall the software.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Offers of equipment in return for copious amounts of art?

About Reposting Art
Posted 18 years agoOkay! I got a little note about this, so I decided to address it.
I don't mind my art from FA being reposted IF my signature remains on the piece, and there's a link back to my FA page. This applies to Fchan. I'd prefer my artwork from CDs and DVDs not be redistrbuted. If you want to save my artwork to your harddrive or use it for your wallpaper or personal art collection, that's fine by me, and you don't need permission!
I don't want my art to be used for forums as avatars or roleplay applications, unless the user commissioned the art from me or you have my permission.
I don't want my art altered in any way (unless you're the commissioner or recipient of a gift), or sold, unless you have written permission from me.
No tracing and posting, please! if you want to trace to learn, that's cool, but no posting of such things, if you will!
If you have a question or would like to use a specific piece, ask me first, please. I will respond in a nice and speedy manner!
Thank you! I hope this covers everything. I can change my mind at any point, too, but I think this is pretty reasonable. If anything gets to be a problem, I might revise.

For those interested in submitting to the new art help book.
Posted 18 years agoHere's what I need from you.
1. Post here confirming your interest and the species you intend on using. If we get too many of one species, those towards the end of the list might be asked to do something else.
2. I will respond with a yes or no.
3. If I give you the go ahead, you will send to me your FIRST drawing. I'd like to get one done at a time, once your first one is done, we can do more. With this email, you will need to include:
- A black and white or greyscale image at 300 DPI. Head or body. .tiff or .jpg. YOU WILL HAVE TO REDRAW THIS IMAGE 2 TO 4 TIMES, ONCE AFTER EACH CRITIQUE, SO IF YOU CAN'T MANAGE THAT, DON'T SEND ANYTHING IN.
- What you feel the problems are in the particular image. (Examples, "The head looks tilted, but I don't know how to fix that," "I can't get the eyes to come out right," "I just can't draw paws," "I'm not sure how to fix the arms so that they don't look stiff.") Go into as much or as little detail as you like.
- The name you want included with your image. It doesn't have to be your real name, or you can be anonymous.
- A link to your artwork gallery and contact information if you so choose.
Please include in the header of your email "For Art Help Book"
Looking forward to what I get! If you have more questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

Need art help? Like free books?
Posted 18 years agoWell! I'm working on a book about correcting common art issues in anthro art. And I need content to correct.
What I'd need is a number of drawings of anthro animals with no visible pink bits. I'd be correcting the first drawing, sending it back to you, and you'd do another one taking the corrections into account. I'm thinking black and white for now, color may happen eventually... but right now, printing costs are a lot lower for black and white.
I'm thinking a smaller sized book for this, 6x9, or possibly a pocket size, and maybe a downloadable PDF file.
For participating, you'd get a free copy of the book, and a link in the book to your site, and any other contact info you'd like. Minimum six drawings to get the free book, some head shots, and some body shots.
I need 300 DPI black and white or greyscale images,.tif or . jpg. Scanned and emailed to me at anonymousartchick (at) yahoo.com, with a short description of the drawings, and what the artist feels that they need help with. But I need to know who'd like to sign up first, so I an get a good number on those participating, and also make sure we don't get 90 fox drawings.

Faux Antique Print Commission plus goodies!
Posted 18 years agoSoooo, the time has come to offer up one more commission to pay the bills. Thus, I'd like to do something unique.
I recently did a whole bunch of fake antique prints.
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/898219/
I'd like to do more, but perhaps with a furry theme. So, for $45 you'd get a heavy stock 8.5x11" print and the watercolor and ink piece that was the basis of the design. Shipping is included in that price. Other little customizations are certainly welcome, such as titles, plate numbers, book titles that the plate would have been used in, etc. I can also do a little writeup on the species or topic.
It would be one image for that price, which would take up the space of the page. I can do more, but they'd be smaller, and it'd be an extra $8 per figure, and may get cramped.
I'll also throw in sketches, and a CD of mine if you'd like. I have the Bitch Book on CD, as well as my 2006/2007 sketch CD, and my 2001-2006 DVD. Also the damaged copies of the Bitch Book in physical form. Take your pick.
I'd like to do two of these. Sorry to people waiting on commissions, no money means no internet, and these small ones don't take too long. I really intend to get a whole ton of work done over Thanksgiving, and I have more time now that my book is done.

Color Portfolio artists!
Posted 18 years agoOkay! So we have a great pool of talent so far, and hopefully we'll get a few more to round everything out! I think we can make great things here. But I'd like to know the best way to contact you guys and to organize the project.
Would a Livejournal community work best for everyone as far as communication? Or is there another way you guys would like to work? Please let me know.

Call for artists for a portfolio!
Posted 18 years agoHello, everyone!
I want to do a collaborative portfolio, yes I do!
I'm looking for artists who'd like to get in on a group portfolio book. I thought about doing a portfolio alone, but that's not as much fun, and I like to organize and get other people involved.
The theme is...
A portfolio all done in a specific color. Once we have our roll call, we'll figure out just what color that is.
I'm looking for people with a good grasp of anatomy, form, or color, and skill in the neighborhood of mine or better. Digital or real media is fine, but a "painterly" look in digital would be superawesome (not flat filled).
Backgrounds would be minimal to moderate.
I think 12-20 pieces would do nicely. Wrap it up in a lulu.com book format, ship out to whoever wants 'em.
Who's interested?
EDIT:
Please give me a link to your best work, or the level of work you'd be able to do for the portfolio.

Art survey, if you view or buy, please answer!
Posted 19 years agoOKay, so I wanted to just do a little test here to see why people, you know, aren't buying a lot of original art, lately. I am, first and foremost, a college kid, and thus, money is sucked up by this horrible system.
SO! Please answer this little questionaire so that I might put out more appealing work.
1. Do you ever purchase furry or fantasy art? If so, prints, or originals?
2. Do you commission artwork of any kind? If so, at what rating?
3. What gender do you prefer in the work, and also, what orientation of characters do you perfer as far as sexuality?
4. What is your price range for artwork? What do you think it should cost, and for what size and media?
5. What kinds of animals or fantasy creatures would you prefer, or would you like to see more of.
6. Describe the perfect piece that you'd like to own, size, subject matter, etc.
7. Sexual or non-sexual work? What appeals to you? Also, would you purchase sexual work, or only work that can be displayed in the home, and why?
8. What do you do with art that you purchase?
9. Is there anything you'd like that other artists don't offer, as far as size, media, or objects relating to art?
10. Any additional commentary about artwork, what you like, kinks included. This is the one time I won't bitch about seeing the kinky stuff.
Thanks!
