Hi, I just want to take some time to talk about something that affects me on a daily basis. Not because I have the disease but because my mother does.

Kidney disease is something that will affect more people than diabetes in a person's life time but is hardly ever spoken about. This is because medications most diabetics need like Metphormin cause loss of kidney function. They stay alive by going to the hospital every other day for 4 hours at a time to get their blood filtered by a machine. And the longer they stay on dialysis, without receiving a transplant kidney, the shorter their life expectancy. And then? They're on anti-rejection medication the rest of their life and every time they get sick, they risk dying. Even going to a restaurant becomes a gamble if the restaurant over works their employees. And don't forget sicknesses without warning signs like TB. IF a person doesn't want to go to the hospital every other day, there is something called peritenile dialysis, but they inject a saline solution into your abdomen and the fluid must be changed twice a month. But once you have this proceedure done you may not ever submerge your abdomen, ever. Floods? Pools? Lakes? Ship sinks? None of it.

I'm.. Very passionate about it. So many other diseases get a lot more funding and publicity. But this is something so large... More people need kidney transplants than people need heart transplants. I'm not putting other illnesses or diseases down, but this is also a very serious thing we need to research and support.

To anyone new to the online Adoptable scene, you MUST credit the artist of any and all adoptables you have/buy/receive for free. It is becoming more and more necessary to credit both the designing artist and the lineart artist. (in the case that a base is used) If you do not credit them, people will suspect that you are selling a character when you do not have the permission from the artist to do so OR even accuse you of stealing the character entirely, even if you did buy it. You know you bought it, but no one else does unless you have names of the artists. People can message them and confirm the facts if they have any doubt.

If you draw AND colour your own adopts to sell, make sure to sign and date your art. This is harder for old art; I've redrawn some of mine so I could sign with the correct year. Some people opt to put a watermark on their art. This usually has a design they drew and the year. Sometimes these overlap the adopt slightly, sometimes not, but they're usually there.

If YOU make an adoptable using a base: that adoptable is a "collaboration" between you and the maker of that base. Whether you buy or use a free base, it's a collaboration. Your name is on the adopt for colouring it with a unique pattern and their name is on it for the lineart. 2 Names. If they haven't signed/watermarked the base, you MUST post their username and yours in the description of the picture. Anyone NOT doing this is being deceitful and not giving you all the information. Do not buy from these people, even if they've sold to many other people. And... if you don't know if someone stole a character; don't buy the character. If you really want the character, message the person they list as the creator. As an artist myself, I would rather reply 500 times than have someone get ripped off because they didn't take the time to contact me. Getting a new character is exciting but getting told your character isn't yours and being out money is not. Get them to place the character on reserve and if they refuse, don't rush in and take a chance. They might be pressuring you so you buy it without proper knowledge.
