General | Posted a year agoI think it goes without saying that we lost a member of the fandom that contributed tremendously to making the fandom a better, more connected place.
FA has been just about the only constant for me as a furry, and that likely goes for many many other furs.
Rest easy Dragoneer, you’ll be missed.

Kind of weird to think about how long ago the last time I posted on a journal here was.
If you want to keep in touch with me for whatever reason, my details are below:

Yeah, creative I know?
Trying to be a bit better at keeping in touch with people. I have gotten an order of magnitude or three worse at it over the years - trying to work on that.

This Is A Journal About Me
General | Posted 9 years agoLife updates.
I've not made a journal here in forever.
I live in Kirkland, WA.
I have a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 300E.
I work at Whole Foods.
I'm still a skotter.
I don't know what I'm doing still, but my life has been a series of huge changes lately.
I'm going to try to go to BLFC and FC, but no guarantees. No MFF 2016 for me.

MFF 2014 Status: Nope
General | Posted 11 years agoAs some of you might have heard, due to some unforeseen issues with my living situation and roommate, I'm not going to have the funds to comfortably attend MFF this year. This is unfortunate, and I will miss all of you there greatly.
Sorry.
Sorry.

AC 2014
General | Posted 11 years agoAnthrocon 2014
First off, I have to thank all who I met for making this a blindingly excellent first AC. I had heard a lot about AC, and had neglected the opportunity to go for many years, but I am extremely glad that I did. I planned to see too many people and didn’t see all of them as well as I could have, and this is apparently pretty normal. I’m not gonna name names too much, but you know who are are. I fully intend to attend AC 2015, among other cons this year and next, so we’ll have plenty of opportunities to try and meet up. The joke about ‘Missed Connections Con’ is really true.
That being said, the people who I DID meet up with were all fantastic. Normally, there are a few small things that I dread coming in. Weird social anxiety, a few people I’m uncomfortable around, and a general sense of discomfort with the general scale of things, just to name a few. None of these ended up being grounded in truth, even to the slightest degree. Upon arriving extremely early (5AM!) at my hotel room on Friday, almost all of those concerns evaporated.
Somewhat annoyingly, the parking situation was a little less than ideal, although based on what I understand, $100 is a totally acceptable parking tab for AC-goers. Registration was quick and easy, and I almost immediately began to run into people I knew in person, or that I recognized off Twitter/FA, and had been chatting with for some time. I’m pretty confident that I’ll be talking to these people even more, and possibly planning visits some time in the future, hopefully the near one.
I’ll spare you the narrative of my entire con, but here are some highlights:
• Getting my suit!
thatsfurredup did an absolutely amazing job, and I can’t do enough to recommend her stellar work highly enough.
• Getting the opportunity to participate in the fursuit parade. The setup for the photo was a bit of a death camp, but the parade was quite a lot of fun! I saw a few familiar faces in the crowd, but couldn't do a whole lot more than wave due to the pace.
• The last night after dance trips to Primanti Bros. with
fizzotter,
nightclaw and friends were something I won’t soon forget, especially the one after the Saturday dance. That was quite the late night, but it all ended up okay in the end. GREAT sandwiches too!
•Carpet cleaner googly eyes.
There’s probably quite a lot more that I can’t remember off the top of my head, but needless to say, I had a fucking awesome first AC, and I will be back. The scale and scope of things was a little intimidating, and some of the logistics were a bit annoying, but I had one of the best weekends I’ve had in a very, very long time.

Just gotta figure out the parking situation.
I have a four passenger vehicle, and I only have one person who is potentially ride sharing, so that frees up two spots that could be you! I have a lot of space in the vehicle, being a hatchback with a roof rack, so if you have any interest in getting a ride from Detroit or any point between there and Pittsburgh, message me somehow. As long as you aren't the bad kind of weirdo.
No, I don't have a room, or floorspace. I'll be sleeping in my car, because I'm not Jay Gatsby.
Looking forward to seeing you fuzzies there!

What day are you getting there?
Friday, before opening.
How are you traveling?
My car, or
calvinrequin's
Where are you staying?
My apartment in Palmer Park, Detroit.
Who will you be rooming with?
Myself and
calvinrequin
How long are you going?
Till it ends!
PERSONAL
[b]What do you look like?
Tall lanky white guy. Pretty generic.
What is your gender?
Space Dandy
How tall are you?
6'1"
Can I talk to you?
You can try, but I can't guarantee I'll make much sense.
Can I touch you?
Depends on who you are, and where you want to touch.
Can I hug or snuggle?
Hugs are great, and snuggles are even better. As long as you aren't weird about it.
Are you nice?
Nope.
CONVENTION
Will you be fursuiting?
Nope. Unless you want to loan me one, which would be super groovy.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
Wandering around aimlessly, bothering people, and generally being a nuisance. I suspect I'll spend a fair amount of time in the sponsor's lounge drinking at least $25 worth of beer.
What is the best way to find you?
Twitter, or iMessage/SMS if you have my digits.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Shout:
"HEY SKOTTER"
"HEY TARAS"
"HEY BITCH ASS SKOTTER"
Or something like that.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
The cool ones. I honestly haven't looked at the schedule, so I can't say.
Will you be going to parties?
Hopefully. Preferably cool ones. I might throw a little one of my own.
Will you be performing?
Shit no. I have no talents!
What/where will you be eating?
Everything and anything.
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If I invite you, sure! Otherwise, stay the hell away from my ramen.
Can I visit your room?
I probably won't be bringing any furs back to my apartment due to my roommate, but I do plan on spending time away from the con hotel with some friends.
Can I buy you drinks?
If you ask me first, totally! I'll probably buy you one out of shame and guilt though.
Can I give you stuff?
I like free things. As long as they're good.
Can I take your picture?
I'm invisible to cameras, so good luck.
What are your goals for the con this year?
Have a good time, hang out with people, and get tipsy.
See y'all there.

Birthday Skotter
General | Posted 12 years agoToday in Irony
General | Posted 12 years agoOne of the big goals for me moving out was not to celebrate my 21st birthday while residing at my parents' house.
I moved out.
I got an apartment that I pay for with my own money.
I'm living almost completely independent from my parents. (apart from cell phone and car insurance)
But I'm going to be spending my January 1, 2014 probably not getting drunk while living in my parents' house because I made the responsible financial choice to live there for a month and work, making the most money I can.
Fuck me, this is not what I expected to be doing.

Back from MFF: Pt. 1
General | Posted 12 years agoSo yeah, I did it. Finally went to my first con.
I was entirely wrong, and I am going to freely admit that all of my concerns were stupid, and turned out to be completely, utterly, and absolutely invalid.
I had a fucking blast. I wish it hadn't ended. I'll post a more detailed review when I'm not exhausted.
I miss you guys already. See you at MCFC (FCN 2.0) or AC! I'm going to be back for more.

Requisite MFF Information
General | Posted 12 years agoArriving: Slightly before noon Friday
Leaving: Some time Monday
This is my first furry convention, so don't be surprised if I'm a tiny bit overwhelmed at times.
I'll be rooming with
calvinrequin and
infinityfire at the main hotel, and we have room for one or two more person! Message me if you are interested, and feel free to spread that around.
Feel free to bug me on twitter, which is probably the best way to reach me if you want to meet me!
tmibiker
I don't have a fursuit, sadly - so don't look for a skotter suit.
I look like this, if you really want to stalk me.
Hugs are encouraged.

MFF Updates
General | Posted 12 years agoYeah, those first con nerves are pretty much gone.
midwayotter convinced me to help out at Youmacon this year, and long story short - great success.
A lot of awesome experiences, new friends, and I feel like a lot better furry.
I am so ridiculously unimaginably pumped for MFF.

First Con Nerves
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm getting kind of nervous about MFF. I'm not really sure how to approach my first fur con, but I'm pretty sure I'm overthinking it at this point.
1. Dealing with creepyfurs.
I'm really bad at this. I am uncomfortable telling someone to go away because I find their presence/smell/personality/etc. off-putting, but I'm also very uncomfortable around those people, so it's really a damed if I do damned if I don't type situation. I've heard varying reports of how prevalent a problem this is - I'm just really bad at dealing with awkward people, and that really worries me.
2. I'm not really comfortable being a furry.
As many of those who talk to me frequently are probably aware, even though I've been kicking around in the fandom for years and years online, I have very little IRL furry experience under my belt. I've been to two or three fur meets of varying size, hung around with a select group of furs outside the confines of an organized event. But that being said, I am still VERY new to being around in a furry atmosphere. The idea of existing in a furry specific bubble for an entire weekend frankly weirds me out quite a bit. I'm most certainly a furry, and I'm most certainly interest in some of the things that other furries are interested in, but I honestly don't understand how to relate with other furs on a furry level. (as stupid as that sounds.) I'm stupendously self conscious about the whole thing, and I'm too uncomfortable to really let my fur out and allow myself to be as silly/fun as I want to be, and have fun with other people. I'm a bloody stick in the mud, and I hate it.
3. I don't know what the hell I'm actually going to do at MFF.
I don't have a fursuit, I don't really have much experience with video games, I'm not a big fan of techno music, I don't dance for shit, and I don't have the coin to spend all day in the marketplace buying porn and dildos, or whatever the hell you do there. I know a fair number of people that are going to the con, and I know of a few outside the hotel things that people want to do, but I honestly can't imagine myself filling up an entire weekend comfortably with these things. I don't want to end up stuck playing around on my iPhone pretending to be interest in the minutia of the fandom.
These are just a few of my concerns that I wanted to flesh out, because goddamn. I'm worried for no good reason and it's bothering. me. I'm still going to go, and I'm going to try have fun... but I'm certainly not walking into it confident that I'll be much fun to be around. But that's probably just my low self esteem speaking.
Over.

Fursuit Head Drawings
General | Posted 12 years agoI'm looking to commission some kind of basic reference drawing for a skotter fursuit head that I can work with, since I can't draw for dick. (especially faces)
Just a front and side view would work well, so nothing crazy convoluted or complicated. I know I can't draw very well, and I would like to find someone I can work with to get a good design I can be happy with, and work on producing.
Any suggestions or referrals would be awesome!

The Con hotel!
What day are you getting there?
Friday, before noon.
Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
I have not a damn clue. Hopefully having fun, getting drunk, or all of the above.
Who will you be rooming with?
calvinrequin and
infinityfire
Do you do free art?
If you realllllly want a shitty doodle... I can't draw.
Do you do trades?
Bodily fluid swapping is only between good friends, or if you're really persuasive.
Do you do commissions?
If you want to pay me to do things, art wouldn't be one of those things...
Do you have prints/ CDs?
I listen to music on my iPhone mostly.
Do you do badges?
Again, if you reaaalllly want one...
What is your gender?
Dude
How old are you?
20
Are you taken?
Ask
calvinrequin
Do you have a fursuit?
Not yet. Although if you have one I can borrow, I can make it worth your time.
Can I touch you?
Depends on where...
Can I talk to you?
If you dare.
