General | Posted 2 years agoI got asked to do a paid color test for a really cool set of graphic novels from a well known and popular show.
College me would FREAK knowing im doing a color test for an ip I was so obsessed with back then I collected the art book of it and doodled fanart and tried to get jobs dealing with its production. And even have the DVD box set of. Im just in disbelief that I was asked to do this. Even if I don't get the gig, it raised my confidence
Im trying not to say what the ip is so as not to jinx it or get associated with it when it's just a test. But it's really fucking cool and it plays into my strengths as an artist both with backgrounds, vfx, and shading.
I even figured out a way to merge the style of the previous comics with that of the show. They asked me to use my own style and methods but take influence from the comics/show and I'm running with it hard. I've only finished one panel so far and I'm already proud of it.
And this all started because Dark Horse rejected my bodysnatcher gn pitch but said they'd keep my portfolio. And they really fucking did.
Plus it's paid??? And significantly more per page than I've ever made with color work and like??? Awesome???
Anyway I have a deadline to have the test done by the end of the month so I may be slow with commissions as I dedicate time to this test.

General | Posted 2 years agoMy tablet pen died recently and I had some issues with medications but I should have the new pen either today or tomorrow. I can't draw on Fridays so I hope to get back to work on Saturday.
Health update
General | Posted 2 years agoSo by random chance I discovered that benadryl and hydroxyzine ends my flare ups within an hour and even prevents them. Downside is they make me rather drowsy.
It's been suggested a few times now that I might have MCAS so I'm going to pressure my doctors to check for it.

Due to my medications I may be taking Saturday and Tuesdays off instead of Friday and Mondays. They seem to be affecting me the day after I take them vs the day of now. v.v

Health update and quick apologies
General | Posted 2 years agoFigured out the reason I've been so slug mode recently and struggling to get work done. One of my meds heavily sedate me as a side effect and I've been having restless sleep so I'm already tired when I take the morning dose of this med. Gonna have to figure out a system to get work done faster.
So, I wanted to apologize to commissioners for the lack of overall updates recently. I promise I'm trying to figure out a way to combat this now that I'm aware of it. Hopefully I'll have updates put for everyone soon! Just bare with me during this adjustment period since sadly, this med is very important and I need both a morning and night dose.

Explanation of my disability/health
General | Posted 2 years agoI guess I should probably explain my chronic health issue since I've had a few delays due to it recently. I apologize if this is graphic in any way.
I had a total hysterectomy in 2020 due stage 3 endometriosis strangling my organs and cysts rupturing causing infections. Ever since I've had chronic severe nausea and vomiting that makes me unable to get out of bed and can last up to seven hours. Usually followed by extreme hunger that worsens the nausea. I also got SIBO, likely from the surgery, and it went undiagnosed for three years due to doctor negligence which very likely caused nerve damage and has caused me to develop mild gastroparesis.
Gastroparesis is when the stomach has a delay emptying out. This can lead to nausea, pain, vomiting, and bowel issues.
Due to the gastroparesis and good ol genetics, I've recently developed bowel issues that will need corrective surgery and causes intense pain and bleeding.
As well, since I am allergic to the testosterone formulas and have severe reactions to the gel, I am on estrogen patches. These patches destroy my gut every time I have to apply them, hence me not being able to work two days out of the week.
Lastly, I have schizophrenia and intense anxiety that manifests physically. These meds make me sleep at weird hours even though I'm trying very hard to change it to a normal sleeping schedule. When I'm unable to sleep, my gut basically thinks it is dying. Which is what is happening today.
