One more question
General | Posted 13 years agoThis is an important one, I don't know how I forgot it.
What do you not like about my images?
Also, try not to comment if you can't find anything you don't like. I'm asking this to improve my FA, not for servile flattery.

Watchers, I need YOU to help me improve the quality of my FA
General | Posted 13 years agoSo can you guys post some feedback on here? I have a few specific questions but feel free to tell me anything you think would be useful.
1. What do you like about my drawings?
2. What I can do to improve my drawing?
3. What do you think I should draw more of?
Now, don't be shy.

I do crazy antics and draw stuff sometimes. If you ask a question I'll answer it and probably draw something too.
Warning: It might spook your guts off!

So yeah, no new pictures for a while. As if I posted regularly anyway, hah.

Do you have friends? This journal may prove otherwise!
General | Posted 13 years agoI've seen, far too often; people online calling each other friends but behaving in a negative manner towards each other. This way that these “friends” interact is a bit of a paradox. They are negatively affecting each other by always being positive to each other.
Being a friend means you take the responsibility to help your friend. People often forget about this responsibility when it comes to correcting their friends. Contrary to what most believe; always agreeing with your friend is actually a bad thing to do. Arrogance, incompetence, and pretentiousness are only a few of the devastating effects this has.
“Everybody makes mistakes,” is a cliché phrase that almost everyone knows and that's because it's true. Since “everybody” includes your friends, even the most intelligent or wise friend you have will say or do something stupid and it's up to you to correct them. Of course the amount that a friend is wrong depends on each person so maintenance on correcting them is not a static number. The number will increase, however, if they are almost never told the truth.
People need to learn from their mistakes in order to become better people. A person who is often told when they are wrong learn from that and become smarter and a better person in society. In another perspective, a person who is never corrected will be unknowledgeable and ignorant. Friends should want what's best for their friends and so if you don't correct your friends when they're wrong or being stupid you're contributing to their delinquency and being a bad friend in doing so.
This also goes to the other end of the friendship. If you're noticing your friends aren't correcting you and are almost always agreeing with what you say then you don't really have friends. You have yes-men. Yes-men will say what you want to hear either out of pity or greed. There are few things more shameful than being used or pitied.

If you're looking to improve drawing here's some info/tips
General | Posted 13 years agoA few months ago
Firolina asked on my tumblr "What do you think has been the best method to improving your drawing skills?" and I answered him. Looking back a lot of those tips I said back then I still go by but I have some more and decided to add them here. Just remember though that this isn't going to make you magically draw better and some of these tips aren't for everyone. Then again, some of them are for everyone so it's best to try out all of them.
General Information
Whenever you get comfortable with a drawing method switch to another method until you get comfortable with that and so on. Keep trying different things like cross hatching or painting or different ways to approach the same thing.
Another thing that will definitely help is learning human anatomy, even if you never plan on drawing humans since most creatures’ anatomies can be compared to a human. Gesture drawing is great practice for this and it helps develop an ability to create fluid poses without a reference. (Here’s a good gesture drawing site http://www.pixelovely.com/gesture/f.....uredrawing.php, when gesture drawing you really just want to get the general pose of the character.)
Also I can’t recommend drawing books enough, sure learning from your own mistakes is fine but I think that learning from other people’s mistakes as well as your own is even better. Weight training books and An Atlas of Anatomy for the Artist by Fritz Schider should make learning anatomy a bit easier and Bridgeman’s Complete Guide to Drawing From Life also can help, though it is a bit technical. You can probably find these books at your local library. I would also suggest you stay away from stylized drawing books like “How to draw manga/cartoons” or anything by Christopher Hart since these books can be broken down into one sentence: “Break down things into basic shapes”, which is useful but I don’t think you don’t need to buy a book to learn that. Another reason to stay away from stylized books will be in the tips section.
Remember: talent is usually never the case when it comes to good art. Everything can be learned and drawing is no exception. The phrase “wow you're talented” is a bittersweet one, on one hand it's nice to know that I make it look so easy that I was born with the ability but on the other hand it seems like they think I hardly even trained myself to reach the current skill I have and I feel like they don't realize how much work it really is to even become decent at drawing.
Some Tips
If you’re drawing on the computer more than likely you will have the option to “flip canvas horizontal”, if you do this every so often you can find flaws in perspective and your picture to fix them, this works because it helps you see the picture in a completely different way and perspective should work even if you mirror it.
Draw whenever you can and most importantly draw from life whenever you can. Drawing is kind of like Chinese whispers, it’s going to have more flaws than what it’s based on and so it’s best to base it off the original.
Study your favorite artist’s techniques. Like how Michelangelo crosshatches by going in one direction for the whole thing and adding in more lines that go with the curves of the model to make darker tones and applying that to your work. This is not the same as copying someone’s style like [retracted] does. Techniques are methods of drawing, styles how you exaggerate things.
Try to learn many things, even things you don’t think will be useful, like architecture. The more knowledge you have the more you will be able to draw without using many references. Color theory is a big thing to learn, in my opinion anyway.
Another reason to stay away from stylized drawing books is that it gives you a false sense of style. I've seen this hundreds of times, a person who isn't good at drawing and when someone tries to tell them what's wrong they say “It's just my style.” Well no, actually you don't have a style and you won't get one for a while. You see, a style is the way you exaggerate things in your drawings but you can't exaggerate things until you understand what you're exaggerating. Which leads to the next tip.
Understand what you draw. It's easy to eyeball everything you see but to really become better at drawing is when you understand all the physical properties of it, the texture, the luster, and the fact that it is a 3 Dimensional object and it must take up space for it to exist. When you finally understand what you're drawing like this you can draw an object from one angle and draw the same object from multiple angles without referencing from the latter angles. Then you can exaggerate things.
This is a bit of a truism but, don't let your pride keep you from learning valuable lessons from criticism. Now, I know some of you say “But that's not criticism that's just saying my picture is bad.” Well actually even simple things like “your picture sucks” are incredibly helpful. If a person uses vague criticism like that then it's usually one of the underlying skills of drawing that is the problem with the picture. So if you get criticism like this then you should check the image for any anatomy, perspective, or any other flaws in the picture. If someone doesn't like the picture it doesn't mean they hate you it means there's something in the image that looked off to them and this is a chance to learn from your mistakes yourself instead of relying on someone else to tell you what's wrong.
Most importantly: don't get so caught up in practicing stuff like anatomy and color theory that you never draw what you like to draw. Don't ever forget why you love to draw. It's happened to me a few times, I was so caught up in learning anatomy and color theory that for a long time I just didn't want to draw anymore because I wasn't spending any time drawing what I liked to draw.
There are actually many things I could say but the more tips I make the more vague they become so perhaps I'll save for another time.
Well I hope not all this stuff is cliche crap that everyone else says and was actually useful. I’m not actually a very good teacher but I’m always willing to share information.

Motivational
General | Posted 13 years agoFeeling down is for people who are too afraid to feel up! Are you just going to be a pansy all your life and never be happy? It's easy to change your attitude all you need is the will to do it. I know it's tough since it's so great being depressed and getting all those internet support comments but the attention you're getting is just the attention a crying child gets. Instead of acting like you need to be burped do something that will get you positive reactions like learn a new skill, even negative reactions are fine like the ones I'll get from this journal.
Stop living in the welfare of sadness and actually do something productive to get attention.

TediousRamen's 2¢ on tolerance.
General | Posted 13 years agoI've been seeing the word tolerant tossed around lately. A few times I've actually been called intolerant but I don't think of it as a bad thing. You see being tolerant means you just sit there and let it happen but I think it's better to voice out against the things that annoy you instead of taking it*. I have nothing against tolerant people, in fact, I sometimes wish I did have a bit more tolerance. For example, in my Creative Writing class I used to sit at a table full of girls who always talked about doing drugs and going to rave parties and I tried to tolerate it but I just broke and told them that they really piss me off and if they continue acting that way I might end up bopping them in the nose. Needless to say my teacher was not happy to hear me say that but he was an understanding guy but this brings me to another point: Calling yourself tolerant is pretentious.
We all know we have a limit to our tolerance. It may vary from person to person but we all have a limit. So, why does someone think it's a good idea to make a group claiming that everyone in it is tolerant? Is it an escape from intolerant people or a place where tolerant people can give each other compliments in their tolerance circlejerk? I guess it really doesn't matter though, the point is that people use this tolerance group as an excuse or a "I'm tolerant so maybe you should stop being intolerant and agree with me." The latter obviously doesn't understand the meaning of tolerance. Actually, one of the most intolerant people I know is in a tolerance group.
You see I have a theory: Pretentious people who call themselves tolerant don't have a sense of humor. A while back I decided to start joking around with a guy that was friends with a friend. He decided that I was just being an asshole and called me a troll. I still thought this guy had a sense of humor so I continued to try to get a few chuckles out of him so then he reported me. I later realized that this guy is in a tolerance group, I thought that tolerance meant that you just sit there and take it, not report people when you don't have a sense of humor. Of course I can understand why "tolerant" people have no sense of humor since they are always putting up with bullshit and not doing anything about it. Which is why I am proud to be intolerant.
In other words, intolerant people are fucking awesome and tolerant people need to get the stick out of their ass.
*Since I am a Caucasian male I have a higher chance to be a serial killer when I'm older, venting out decreases my chances of that happening.

Regarding commission prices
General | Posted 13 years agoI was really unsure about what the price of my commissions should be, you see a few people have told me to start doing commissions because I was good enough. Well I decided that maybe doing commission was a good idea since my current Bamboo Fun tablet is kind of falling apart, at least it lasted a good 3 years.
Anyway, the Charizard submission that I said was a commission was, in fact, not. It was a way to try to find the price that people would be for my work without being obvious about it. Of course I know that some people might have thought it was a trick question and said either higher or lower than they thought but an average might be able smooth out the lumps.
The number I got was: $30.71
If I round that down I get: $30
Now here's where you guys come in again. If you don't think the price I have there is accurate to my abilities and other people's abilities to pay just say something and suggest a price.
Oh and the prize would have been a free picture but nobody guessed that it wasn't a commission except for
TheFurryFromTheDark and he already knew so he doesn't count.

The answer to your questions
General | Posted 14 years agoI get a lot of people asking me stuff like "where is your penis?" or "how can I have sex with you?" so I made a step by step list on how to have sex with ramen.
1. remove the top.
2. remove the brain followed by the other various innards.
3. scrape out the insides and pull out the seeds.
4. mark the outside for carvings.
5. cut along the marks for the carvings.
6. stick your hand in from the carvings, it's dark so you'll have to feel your way around. if you feel something metalic and gear shaped you are probably reaching too far, pull back a little and you will feel something that feels like a needle. Don't prick yourself with the needle, if you do you may contract a disease.
7. twist the needle 5 times counter clockwise for a penis and clockwise for a vagina.
8. prizes are dispensed through the mouth.
9. when finished undo steps 8 - 1.
You can practice at home with your own cups of instant noodles too!
