Old Memories, New Discoveries
General | Posted a week agoRecently, I saw an animated musical video posted by
EWS (https://www.furaffinity.net/view/63214875/) celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Commodore Amiga line of personal computers.
One thing that caught my attention was the song that played in the end credits. "Run With Us" was the end theme from a 1980s Canadian animated TV series called THE RACCOONS. If you're not familiar: THE RACCOONS were the adventures of a trio of Raccoons protecting Evergreen Forest from exploitation by a ruthless aardvark tycoon named Cyril Sneer. Episodes contained morals on environmentalism, friendship, teamwork, family relations, and other topics. It was funny, entertaining, and wholesome without overselling its lessons.
I enjoyed watching this show as a kid, as I spent many of my formative years in a rural area without cable TV access. The large antenna on the roof of my family's home allowed us to pick up a Canadian TV station. At the time, I had access to only a handful of TV channels, so watching THE RACCOONS was a real treat.
"Run With Us" was a catchy upbeat synthpop tune sung by Lisa Lougheed. You can hear her version here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2EJicGNelE . Curious, I searched YouTube for covers of this great song. Sure enough, I found one from Sadie C. Grace whose music and video were even better! You can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ymRSKSIGirw .
Thinking further about the lyrics, "Run With Us" contains a message of support for friends who struggle with life. One could view the song as an anthem for the inclusive, supportive nature of the Furry community. Given the contentious times in which we now live, I am grateful for the support of my friends. and try to return the favor where possible.
Stay well, my friends!

Rock Baker Needs Our Help!
General | Posted a year agoHello, friends! Hope you're doing well!
RockBaker (the artist whose excellent work made many of my animation videos possible) needs $400 in commission income as soon as possible to keep his power from being shut off. Message him if you'd like to help a friend in need, and get some great art in the process!

General | Posted a year agoTo borrow from a certain Marvel Comics villain, a "heavy toll" has been exacted by recent events in the Furry community. I wanted to take a moment to write about these.
First, I got word that
Saara passed away. Though I did not know him closely, his artwork was among the first I'd seen in the Furry community. At a furry party, I got a chance to see his print anthology GO FUR IT! I enjoyed his sci-fi art style, as well as his renditions of Mam'selle Hepzibah from POGO. I also remember his character Tangel, and the running jokes about her incensed insistence that she was an extraterrestrial and NOT a skunk.
As I understand, friends closer to him are working to salvage and preserve his artwork. I hope they succeed.
Not long after that, I heard of
Dragoneer 's passing. I have read of the efforts to clear his debts so that his friends can keep FurAffinity going. For my part, I donated a small amount to assist. I am relieved to hear that about 75% of the current funding goal has been raised so far. If you're not already aware, the crowdfunding campaign can be found here:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-.....goneers-legacy
I enjoy the social aspect of this site, being able to comment on and fave other people's art. It would be heartbreaking to see it shut down, because I'm honestly not sure where else I could post art or links to my animations. DeviantArt no longer is a good option for me, given their use of other people's work without permission to train generative AI.
On a related note,
Leo.The.Ninja.Lion informed me that a link I'd posted in response to one of his comments was no longer working. I checked it out, and sure enough: My old art site at furry.org.au is gone.
To be fair, I stopped updating my old site around 2008, when I first started my page here on FA. It's easier to post art and get feedback here on FA than on my old site. Still, it marks the end of an era, and I fondly remember when I built the site in 1998. I signed up for space on the furry.org.au domain, then bought a book on Microsoft FrontPage. I spent about a week laying out the site and adding content. TELBERT'S TOON DEPOT featured links to my own art, other friends' art of me, and links to other artists' sites. For a time, I enjoyed adding new content on a regular basis.
I greatly appreciate the support and encouragement that I have received from friends and fellow artists here on FA. The camaraderie has done a lot of keep me going during hard times. I thank you all, and hope that the FA community can endure.

New Animation Gallery Folder!
General | Posted a year agoHello, my friends! I hope you're all well.
Today, I created a new folder in my Gallery section for animation projects. Each image there will have a description containing a link to the animation itself. For best quality, I recommend that you set the Settings/Gear icon on the video to 1080p.
There are three animations in the folder now, but there will be more as time goes on. Comments are welcome and appreciated. Hope you like what you see!

New Animation!
General | Posted 2 years agoHello, Friends!
For a while now, I've had the pleasure of working with
rockbaker , turning his excellent art into short animations. Combining his artwork with my video editing skills, we've produced a roughly 6-minute cartoon featuring an old-timey villain by the name of Pernicious T. Possum!
Pernicious has a dastardly plan, but needs to tie up a few loose ends. Namely, a young mouse named Sally Sourise!
If you'd like to see this cartoon, please comment here or note me with an email address. Thanks again!

Mock Movie Trailer Animation
General | Posted 2 years agoHello again, friends!
I'd like to thank all who expressed interest in last month's offer to see some of my animatic samples. If you responded to last month's post, or to notes/emails from me, then by now you should have received a new message with a link to another animatic.
This latest animatic was an experiment in which I produced a mock "movie trailer" promoting a story arc in
cartoonwolf 's webcomic, NINE TO NINE. The story arc itself starts here: https://www.tigerknight.com/99/2020-02-09
If you are interested in seeing what I produced, please either comment here, or note me. Please tell me how you wish to receive the link (FA Note, Emaile or Discord chat).

Gene Catlow: Farewell to a Friend
General | Posted 9 years agoIt pains me to write about this, but I feel compelled. I apologize in advance if I topically jump around a bit:
This morning, I learned that
GeneCatlow passed away recently due to natural causes at the age of 59. I have no details on his passing at this time.
Through most of my time to date in the Furry world, Gene was a friend and an inspiration to me. He encouraged me as I worked to improve my art skills. He provided a listening ear as I struggled to make a productive life for myself. He and
catswhisker were always friendly to me. He was one of the first artists to draw my character, and his interpretation of my skunk form informed my own rendition. I felt honored every time he either drew a picture for me or gave me a cameo in his webcomic. I mourn the loss of my friend and mentor.
In addition, I mourn the fact that he passed on before the storyline in his webcomic fully came to fruition. For a long time now, I saw that his story was a message of love, tolerance, and coexistence. This is a message that the world sorely needed to see, and I am genuinely sorry that Gene could not finish his magnum opus. I know that
Catswhisker handled the continuity, and I hope that a way can be made for the rest of the story to be told. His work was truly a example of "best practices" in the webcomics field.
Farewell, Gene. Thank you for everything you gave me and the rest of the Furry world. You were loved. You will be missed.

Homeless Friend Needs Help
General | Posted 9 years agoHello, Friends!
A friend of mine on FurryMUCK recently told me about someone he knows who is in dire need of assistance. She and her teenage son are homeless and living out their (currently disabled) truck, walking to jobs to support themselves as best they can. Her internet access is limited to what she can get from public wi-fi access, but she has been able to upload updates on her status by way of her webcomic at (http://www.theduckwebcomics.com/how_to_be_homeless/ ).
My friend and I have been doing what we can to help these people. We each sent her a care package containing various supplies to help them survive. My care package contained:
• Dried Fruit
• Peanut/Candy Snack Packs
• Deodorant (men's and women's)
• Toothbrushes
• Toothpaste
• Band-aids
• Fresh Wipes
• Cold Packs
• Solar Charger
• Crank-Operated Portable Radio
My friend sent the first package, containing: non candied items, like the Epic bison, beef, bacon bars, jerky and meat sticks, emergency mylar insulation blankets, batteries, matches, and tinder sticks.
If anyone can join us in helping our friend, we would greatly appreciate it. For those interested in sending care packages, I can provide a PO Box to which our friend has access. Thanks in advance to any who can help!

More Comics For Sale
General | Posted 9 years agoHello Folks!
Since my last post, I found a taker for my collection of SONIC THE HEDGEHOG comics. I still have a healthy collection of issues of Fred Perry's sci-fi/fantasy comic GOLD DIGGER. I have a mix of the original black & white issues and the later color series. I'd like to see them go to someone who will enjoy the stories and humor. Interested parties are welcome to note me or chat me up on Skype (trainskunk@hotmail.com). Thanks again!
Comics for Sale
General | Posted 9 years agoHello, Folks!
I'm doing some spring cleaning and have decided to part with a fraction of my collection of comic books. Some of these date back to the mid-1990s. They're neither bagged nor boarded, but make decent reading copies. I imagine that local comic book stores are challenged to sell their existing inventory, so I won't bother trying to sell to them. I originally bought these not as investments, but to enjoy the artwork and stories. I would like them to go to someone else able and willing to do the same.
From the first box (of three) that I have hauled out, books that I wish to part with include:
1. Some of the various SONIC THE HEDGEHOG comics published by Archie Comics in the mid-to-late 1990s. Among these are various miniseries featuring Knuckles the Echnidna and Princess Sally.
2. A collection of various issues from Fred Perry's GOLD DIGGER. I recognize Gina Diggers as one of the first "adorkable" heroines before the trend for such characters really gained momentum.
Any interested parties are welcome to contact me for details. Thanks again!
