Cooking Mama?
Posted 15 years agoSo I'm working on some stuff I owe right now, but I was also browsing Youtube and stumbled across some Cooking Mama videos. I had seen it before somewhere, but was able to see it more indepth just now.
For anyone who has played it, is it worth getting? Particularly the one for the DS? =) I'm worried about repetition or it being too easy.
PS: Scribblenauts Round of 8 Results will be up soon!
EDIT: Well after looking more into this game, it seems to be too simple for my tastes. xD

Scribblenauts Round of 16 Results!
Posted 15 years agoSorry for the lateness of these results. A few days ago I got RSI in my drawing arm and had been dealing with that, as well as soreness and problems with my other joints. They seem to be clearing up, and may have had to do with a calcium deficiency. As I said though, it seems to be getting better now.
Now, onto the fun! =)

If you could be on any game show, what would you be on?
Posted 15 years agoI'll be posting the Scribblenauts Tournament results (Round of 16) soon. In the mean time, a fun little journal for you guys.
If you could be on any gameshow (perhaps past or present), because you think it'd be fun or you'd kick ass on it, what would you choose to be on?
For me, I'd choose either Survivor, or The Price is Right. While I think I'd need to be more athletic to do the former, I think I'd do pretty good on it. I'm a big fan of the show and now how to strategize to make it far I think.
And well, I've watched a ton of The Price is Right. I win a majority of the games when I play along. =P If I ever visit California I want to attend a taping. That'd be a dream.
How about you guys?

Scribblenauts Tournament! Win a Free Sketch!
Posted 15 years agoFor those who don't know what Scribblenauts is ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scribblenauts
I'm going to be holding a Scribblenauts tournament for fun. It'll be a single-elimination deathmatch tournament. The last one standing wins a free sketch from me! (all commission rules apply) I was going to do this on DA too, but just to avoid confusion I'll do FA first.
1. Reply to this journal with two creatures, (can be animal, fantasy, historical, etc)
2. Check to make sure nobody else has chosen it.
3. Since real world based things tend to be underpowered, feel free to choose a weapon to equip them with. (ex. grandma with pepper spray; man with gun; police officer with rocket launcher) I won't allow obvious instant kill weapons though. I'll do my best to attach a weapon to your creature, but if it won't let me, they'll have to go weaponless.
3B. CREATURES NOT FROM THIS WORLD CANNOT USE WEAPONS! (IE. GOD, ZOMBIE, HERCULES) (weapons are just to help things be more balanced)
3C. You can choose the same animal/real world thing as someone else, as long as there is a different weapon.
The player who picked the last creature standing in the tournament will win a free sketch!
If the two creatures decide not to fight, I'll randomly choose the winner.
Round results will be posted in seperate journals, with winners in bold.
If I get a number of entrants different from 16, 32, 64, 128 etc, I'll randomly do some matches to get it to one of those figures.
I'll give a couple of days or so for everyone to submit their picks. Have fun! Good luck!

I'm Back!
Posted 15 years agoI am back from my "vacation" with WinDasH! (it certainly felt like one even though I didn't technically leave)
It was probably one of the best experiences of my life. It was so fun and so rewarding, and I had such a great time. We did so many things. It was like having the brother I never had around. ^^
What else can I say? I'm back! Cheers! =)

WinDash is visiting!
Posted 15 years agoI'll be inactive till the 20th of July as I'm having a great online friend of mine, WinDash, visiting starting on Thursday. I'll be inactive since I'll be spending most of my time with him, but I'll still have downtime here and there where I can hop online, do updates and things of normal nature.
Here's hoping everything goes as awesomely as I expect it to!

A Brief Explanation of Yesterday's Post =)
Posted 15 years agoThis is just a brief explanation of yesterday's art post, Never Quite Good Enough, since I had some folks wondering about it.
First off, just want to say I'm doing fine now. I had a certain trigger that started it and all these pent of worries and feelings came crashing down all at once. xD I was thankful to vent.
Here is some cross-posted text from DeviantART that I wrote that basically summarizes the whole thing, for those who are curious.
"This involves a few things, for the most part being dreams I have that seem out of reach, despite everyone telling me I'm good at what I do - and seeing others accomplish theirs. It's also about a certain perception I have that artists I admire think I'm below their standards for one reason or another, and feeling left out of this web of interest they've created amongst eachother. There's also random little things here and there, but those are the main ones.
Ironically, some of the things I've learned to make this image came from these artists I admire.
I just hope you guys can appreciate the meaning and symbolism of the piece and if you want, contribute to the discussion."
I hope that clears things up. =) Cheers!
For those returning from AC, hope you all had a good time. My fun won't be starting until Thursday though. I'm having a great online friend visiting me till July 20th, but I'm going to keep his name secret for now. (it'll be mentioned in a couple days!)

Door-Holding Awkwardness
Posted 15 years agoI hate it when you go to leave a store, and someone is kind enough to hold the door for you. You thank them and walk away from the door only to see another person wanting to come in. You've already walked away from the door and it would be awkward to run back to hold it for them, yet rude for you to have not after someone paid the same respect to you.

Processed Cheese
Bacon
Mayo
Pepper
on a toasted sesame seed bun.
It tasted awesome but that can't be good for me at all. >>

I Got Accepted!
Posted 15 years agoI got my letter in the mail today letting me know that I've been accepted into college!
I was called in for an interview last Wednesday - which went pretty well. They said my portfolio was strong, and my illustration skills were impressive, but I need to work on my design skills more.
During my time there I sat with two other applicants who were called in. Apparently 300+ people apply for the course every year, and only 40 get in. I was one of the handful that made it to the interview stage.
So nonetheless, I'm very excited, yet a bit timid about college and the workload that comes with it.
Yet, it could be very inspiring, being around and working with other artists and designers.
I guess we'll find out together. I start August 30th.

Posting WIPs
Posted 15 years agoWith the creation of my new icon, I decided to try posting WIPs. (aka work in progress) I wanted to do that to see what suggestions or critiques I might get.
I normally don't do that and I'm not sure where the tolerance levels stand for my watchers.
If I do post any in the future, I'd try keeping them to one or two per piece. Last thing I'd want to do is spam every step. (unless it is one file)
Is that okay with everyone? o.o

Getting Out of an Art Block
Posted 15 years agoI just realized I spelled commission wrong on my last journal. Durr. >>;
Well, I think I've been in an art block as of late for a number of reasons. They didn't seem apparent at first, I just felt uninspired, but I think I know the causes:
1. I've been feeling pressured to out-perform myself with every piece I do, posted or not.
2. Because of #1, I've been rushing or scrapping work that isn't coming out well at first, and not seeing it through to the finished product. I also won't show anything I don't like enough, with the loss of potential advice/critiques.
3. I've been feeling guilty working on stuff that isn't something I owe like commissions, or could help me with my prospective career. (ie. gesture drawing, exploring other mediums)
I think I need to throw that all away and just go back to my roots more. Just draw because I want to draw something, and not worry so much how beneficial or how well received it might be. Of course, I still need to work on things I owe, and practice important things like anatomy, but a happy artist is a productive artist, and a productive artist is an improving one.
I hope that's the solution to my problem. X) Cheers!
P.S: I just moved my computer into my room. More on that later!

Commision Question
Posted 15 years agoFor a sketch commission of this kind of quality:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3893725
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3811359
Does $10 per character seem like a fair price to you?
I still have some larger projects to do, but I thought I should poll my userbase and see what kind of interest there is. =P
Cheers!

1000 Watchers - Thanks everyone!
Posted 15 years agoI've been ever so slowly creeping towards the 4-digit mark for a while now - but I just hit 1000!
I know it's not much in the grand scheme of things. There's probably thousands of artists here that have reached this already, but I guess it just feels special. My art is something I'm passionate about, and having 1000 people like my efforts enough to add me to their watch list means a lot. ^^
So I just wanted to say thanks to my friends and watchers for all your help, comments, company, and just anything really. X) I would have said something sooner but I felt like waiting until now.
In other news, I got a letter from college telling me they want to interview me about my portfolio, Awesome! Now let's hope this course is something I want to take. xD
Cheers!

Achievement Unlocked: Portfolio Completed [HARD MODE]
Posted 15 years agoSo, after months of struggle with my health and other things, I finally completed my portfolio today - ready to submit for tomorrow. I learned a lot and it also made me realize I'm not as good as an artist as I thought. As soon as I worked outside my comfort zone I really struggled. xD
I've got to get into contact with an academic adviser though. I got some concerns about this course not being what I expected. (some drawing fundamentals in the course outline have vanished) I'd rather get it checked out before I sink 10 grand and two years into it. x_x
In other news, now that my portfolio is finished, I'll be taking up commissions soon. I'm probably going to avoid full color for a bit, but I'll be taking $10 sketches again and other stuff with a smallish workload. I just need to get some stuff out of the way first before I add some more to my plate. =P

Sigh
Posted 15 years agoI met a couple of furries on Justin.tv. I decided to introduce myself. It took less than 5 minutes for one to start getting sexual.
*sigh* Seriously...? >>
I left pretty quick. I probably should have followed my instincts and stayed silent. I'm pretty annoyed so I needed to vent a bit. xD
In other news, I'm nearly finished my portfolio. I just need to assemble everything on presentation board and print some stuff. Hurray! Wish me luck! =)

I left pretty quick. I probably should have followed my instincts and stayed silent. I'm pretty annoyed so I needed to vent a bit. xD

Holy crap, Dreamworks <3
Posted 15 years agoI saw How to Train Your Dragon on Saturday. Best animated movie I've seen in quite a while, and definitely the best animated Dreamworks film to date. I saw it with half a dozen furs from the city area. (I recall Jason, Tom, Hannah, a couple of Shawn's and someone else) Sorry for not making the meet after guys. I got home and crashed once the caffeine wore off. I really would have liked to come, but I was dragging. >:
But yeah, wow. <3
Also, I'm going to finally get off my butt and go through my recent watches list. I have 3+ months worth saved up. So yeah, either tonight or tomorrow I'll go through the pages, check out the galleries, fav some works, thank for watches, and possibly give some of my own. =3
That is all!

A Quest Begins...
Posted 15 years agoWell, sort of.
I got my portfolio requirements for college last Thursday, and yeah...lots of work ahead of me. Thankfully it's not due for two and a half months. I'm excited, yet at the same time nervous I won't be good enough to make it into the program. =P Wish me luck! =3
Also, I gotta go back months and thank people for watches. I feel bad that I haven't...I guess that's going to be a quest on it's own too. o.o
We'll I've worked enough for now. TIME FOR MARIO KART!

Contest Results! Thanks for the feature NotVeryAthletic!
Posted 15 years agoI know nobody from FA entered my contest, but if anyone is curious on the results, they have now been posted on DA. Here is the link! =D

Also, a huge thank you to
NotVeryAthletic. I got back from applying for college yesterday and had my friend FrostyPuppy make me aware that I was Artist of the Week! I logged onto FA, and found I had so many new watchers. Thank you so much for the feature! It really brightened up my day. ^^

Posted 16 years agoThere are 24 hours left in my contest! The deadline is 11:59:59 CST on January 18th. (today!) If you need more time, let me know and we'll see if we can get something worked out! I know this warning is on short notice, so I can easily compromise. I've had one person ask for me to extend one more week, but it seems a bit long since I've already extended the deadline once. If I have another person or two that needs another week, I will extend it. =3
Thanks!
Thanks!
My New Year's Resolutions
Posted 16 years agoHere are my new years resolutions if you're curious. =3 Feel free to post yours!
1. Get myself a job.
2. Be more active physically. I'm not setting any goals with this. I'm just gonna do what I can and see where I end up. I feel setting goals with things like this just make you discouraged.
3. Be more active on FA and DA, particularly FA. I know there's messages I haven't responded to, great art gone unnoticed, and great people yet to be met. Being more active than I have would easily solve this.
4. Begin learning to cook!

Winter 2009 Contest! $120 in prizes!
Posted 16 years agoI posted this over at DA a little while ago, but for some reason I never cross-posted this over here. I meant to but for some reason I never did. Sorry guys! >=
I'm running a contest that involves depicting my character Temiree in a medium of your choice, with prizes consisting of free commissions from me. =3 (they amount to $120) The deadline is January 18th, so there's still plenty of time. (I might extend it a tad further if anyone needs some extra time though!)
Also, this time I decided to add a wild card prize, consisting of a free sketch request to a non-prize winning entry. This would be done at random, probably based on a dice roll. So everyone has a chance to win something!
If you're considering entering, go to this link to read the full details in my DA journal: http://temiree.deviantart.com/journal/28359610/
I have five entries so far. If you want to take a look-see, take a look at this link! http://temiree.deviantart.com/journal/29272295/
If anyone has any questions, let me know! ^^
