these weeks leading up to my big move have really been slapping me around QwQ;; i think i need a break...

because i've been working through my student loans i don't have a ton of spare money saved up but luckily i've gotten together enough to get just about everything i need for my new apartment. just gonna be super budget until i get my first paycheck! as i settle in i can always get more furnishings and cookware if i need to c:

i have to pack everything. i have a LOT of work to do there and i need to take an inventory of everything i have so i don't forget anything important.

saying goodbye to friends has been hard. i'm only moving 2 hours away so reasonably i can visit and they can visit me, but some took it harsher than others. my 'partner' sent me a long winded message about morals and why we can't see each other anymore, saying that i care more about them than they do me and that's why we need to break it off. it was strange to say the least. really heartbreaking. i don't even know if they still want to be my friend? we weren't even actually dating or anything. so i don't understand why it had to be A Thing where it was assumed i'd never go on without them. mostly everybody else though has made an effort to come see me and do something fun and happy before i go.

however because of all the craziness i may not be able to make it to an anime con i've been going to since i was 16, and all everyone wants to know is if i'll still give them money for the room even if i don't show... not a single "we'd miss you if you weren't there" which feels kind of shitty. i understand being concerned because the room IS expensive and i would be a bad friend for dropping last min but it's still like, so do you want me to be there or??

i have to make a big shift in the way i budget money AND time because i'm going to be in a completely different environment. i have to learn the subway system. i have to get "street smart" in a way i never learned how to be.

i need to transport all my pets. i have a cat, a ball python, a leopard gecko and four fish tanks.

and to top it off i dropped my phone in the toilet bowl last night and functionally it's mostly fine but i think the charging port got a little jacked up because it's not accepting the cable unless i jam it in like 10 times and then it takes it.

there is just..... a lot going on! and i need somebody to hold my hand through it and tell me everything will be OK!

sooo big things are happening and barring any complete disasters during intake i'm starting a medical research job in nyc! i'm very excited but also nervous as hell because i have to find an apartment and move in before my start date (4/15) which is not much time at all and i'm working full time at my current job right up until like 3 days before SO!! there is a lot going on!!!

i never ever would have thought i'd live in nyc- the only "city" i've ever lived in was burlington vermont which is like, a peanut compared to new york city.

i have to pack everything and tour apartments and figure out how i'm gonna transport everything including all my animals... i got some cheap betta keepers to move my fish in and i have a carrier for my gecko and my cat but i don't have anything for my snek. last time i just moved her in a pillowcase and she was fine but i'm just so paranoid for my bb...!!

so uhhh wish me luck in this big move and my new job!! and if any of y'all live in nyc i will definitely desperately need friends <3

but i'm gonna try to make my birth month fun and fulfilling qwq

in 2018 i delved a lot more into furry and art communities! i commissioned lots of art and got a bunch of new characters. i tried a lot of new things and also got my sewing machine up and running again so i can keep making crafts and cosplay! my physical and mental health also improved significantly, proving that taking a rest period before attempting grad school was a good decision. things that were once extremely difficult for me- particularly cleaning, laundry, organization etc- are now almost second nature. albeit with some bumps, i used a planner to keep myself organized (it definitely helped!). i've posted a LOT less on social media broadcasting depression/anxiety feelings that were temporary and instead took a step back and looked at the bigger picture to solve my issues. because of this, my friendships and other relationships have gotten only stronger. i got a community fish tank up and running and brought home a leopard gecko as well! my very old cat freddie (who is 22 currently) who i was pretty sure i would lose in 2018 is still around and could possibly make it to 23.

i'm excited to see how 2019 will go. there will definitely be more art, more fursuiting, more oc's and more furry cons! i'm hoping that after my rest period i can finally begin to make some of the big moves in life. i had a lot of setbacks in college due to unsavory experiences that i'm ready to move past. i'm going to take the GRE and apply to grad school. i'm going to fix my credit, pay off my car and move into an apartment or condo that i'm the sole renter of.

i couldn't do it without my friends who have supported and encouraged me all year! most of them aren't on FA or are furries at all but they still are happy to see me be my authentic fluffy self. cheers everyone! let's make this year count!

octopuses do not do well in home aquariums. but every single octopus species is just so beautiful and mesmerizing having one as a companion would fill me with such happiness.


4. What is your greatest achievement?
logically i guess i would say getting my bachelor's in ecology & evolutionary biology but the past four years have been so FOGGY i'm like i don't even know.
my greatest pride is opening my home to four beautiful rescue babies (hamster, ball python, two cats) and for this grumpy 22 year old cat to feel so comfortable with me that he needs to sit on my butt or shoulder at all times


5. What skill do you wish you had above all others?
god i wish i was more proficient with computers. mostly thinking about digital art programs bc i am absolute noob but also reading/writing R. i took a class but it was too fast paced and i fell far behind like a month in and had to drop it. but if i could take my time learning it then it would be SUPERR USEFUL in my field

idk if i wanna change my fursona's design or not! it would just be a color switch from black and white fur to pink and white. on one hand, she's been a black and white tuxedo cat for ?? probably like 8 years?? i have several art pieces i've commissioned of her in this black and white coloration. it feels familiar and comfortable. i see her, i see me. on the other hand, i feel that it's limiting/plain and she doesn't fit the aesthetic i want her to. if i make her light pink i can make her fit that pastel bubblegum pop look i want her to. i've gotta decide which color i want to commit to cause eventually i'll collect many more art pieces and hopefully get a suit made. i've changed her design before- before being a tuxedo she was white with gray patches. so i think i could adjust to the change? then again when i look back on the white and grey design i still see my sona... i haven't even drafted up a new design but i'm already having an existential furry crisis about it LMFAO
