TF-talk.net
Posted 7 years agoHey. Been a long time since I wrote anything here - but I'd like to mention something I've been working on recently.
I started a site over at https://tf-talk.net for people who have an interest in transformation to talk about stuff. It's been really well received so far, and if you're interested signups are open to the general public as long as you're 18+ (there is NSFW content and discussions there). It's more aimed at having a place to talk and carry on conversations rather than an art site, but there are lots of artists and writers there already. If it sounds at all interesting to you, go ahead and check it out.

On Commisions
Posted 12 years agoI get asked every once in a while about doing commissions and I always say ‘no’. But, I always kind of feel bad when I do because I feel like I never do a good enough job of explaining why. I’m going to throw up some of my reasons here and then maybe that’ll make me feel better.
… Here we go.
Basically, the problem is this: I'm worried about drawing becoming too much like work. Accepting payments adds a level of responsibility and accountability that I don't really want to associate with doing art. Right now, I do it entirely for my own amusement and I share what make because I think other people might enjoy it. I like the idea of contributing back to a community that’s given me so much enjoyment from over the years. I'm worried that doing commissions will drain some (or all) of that fun out of things. Involving money automatically pulls issues of accountability, scheduling and response times into things. None of these things are fun.
Secondly, setting up payments and stuff is a pain. For my day-job I'm self employed. I already spend too much time doing accounting, invoicing, payment tracking and taxes. I'm completely anal when it comes to that kind of stuff, and I really don't want to do any more of it. Accounting work isn’t how I want to spend my free time, I have a job so that I can do the things I want to do when I’m not working. I don’t want to turn my hobby into a job.
Does that mean I don’t want to ever do art for other people? Absolutely not. I just don’t want to do art that I don’t find interesting. I understand that sounds quite mysterious, but let me put it this way: There’s TONS of characters out there that I love that I haven’t drawn (there’s even a few that I have!). If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve seen some of them. I love it when people suggest things for me to draw. Feedback is always amazing. People are amazing - they have way more ideas and creative juice than I ever will. I’ve never had anything suggested to me that I’ve straight up dismissed out of hand. Sure, there’s been things I didn’t draw, but honestly, they’re few and far between.
So what does this mean to you, Mr. (or Mrs.) internet user? Let me know what you want me to draw. Sure, there’s a chance I might not draw it but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask. Pretty much the worst thing I’m going to do is ignore you.

Fun With Icons
Posted 12 years agoI was lamenting the fact that I didn't have an icon, so I picked up a program called 'SpriteSomething' ( http://terriblegames.com/spriteSomething/ ) for my iPad. I've been messing around with making some simple little pixel-art icons for myself. The icon that's currently my profile is the outcome of one of my little experiments.
I'm probably gonna upload some more of them to scraps or something later today. The basic idea was to make a base animation of some dude getting zapped with a TF-ray, and then have a bunch of variations on what he got turned into... I figured some of you'd like to see them. There's only a couple right now but the plan is to make some more. To do simple stuff really only takes about 5 frames of animation or so, so that's cool.
As far as the program goes, it's pretty cool. There are a few things I wish it had (lasso select, layers, rotate tool) but since I'm only working with 25 pixels or so it's not that big a deal. I tried doing some bigger (100x100) stuff, but animating it was way too much of a pain (especially where parts of the body, like tails and arms, overlap on the screen). I also have to dump the .GIF files through an optimizer to bring down the size, but that's not really a big deal. There are some better apps on PC, but being able to draw stuff on the can is awesome :P.

Bad at Journals
Posted 12 years agoYeah, I'm pretty terrible at writing these things. I figured I should put something up in place of the 'great upload' post since that was done like a month ago thought.
So... yeah... Been drawing stuff. I have a roommate and it's hard to find time when he's not around to draw. It's a very personal process for me, not to mention it often involves naughty bits, and I never do it when there's a chance anyone's gonna walk in on me doing it. Mostly I end up squeezing out an hour or so around bedtime (like now). Unfortunately, that often leads to me staying up way too late when I get in the groove. I'm pretty sure that's not how it works for most people :).

Importing Art
Posted 12 years agoHey everyone. I haven't really done any drawing in a long time (read: years) but recently I've been thinking of doing some stuff. I have a bunch of stuff I'm going to pull over from my deviantArt account since I feel FA is a little more oriented towards my interests.
LET THE GREAT UPLOAD BEGIN!
Also - no promises on me actually drawing anything, this is kinda just something I've been meaning to do for a while and never got around to. However, if there IS going to be new art, it'll be posted here. Probably only here.
P.S. There hasn't been anything drawn in the last 4 years, so don't get your hopes too far up :)
P.P.S I had some kind of obsession with watermarks a while back. Don't hate me :)
** It is done. I still have some scraps to pull over, and maybe I'll go grab some of the less shitty scraps I've drawn since I last posted, but that'll have to wait till later. I'm going to play some vidja games before I get too drunk... er... I mean tired. **
