A sigh of relief.
Posted 13 years agoWell it's been a month or more of worrying. As some of you know i spend time every year raising money for cancer groups. This year it meant a little more to me because my father was waiting for test after some indicators came back that he was very ill with cancer. the change in his antigen level was huge and he had all sorts of "nodules" showing that it may have been very bad indeed.
Today my mother called me to tell that the results of his biopsy came back and he is cancer free. it's something else going on but nothing that is as dangerous as cancer. This was obviously great news.
Everything in life is affected when the stress of a loved one being ill looms over head. My mind suffered for it even though it did not show to most friends and family. I had to do a lot of self discovery and did end up answering a lot of questions.
I have notice that i am tired of not being me. I spend so much time Keeping up appearances(something i got from my mom. She banana's about how people view things) that i forget who i am. i Forget that i don't particularly feel like i look and don;t spend any time just being me. My wife, the saint that she is understands that i am bit loony and loves me anyways. She really is amazing and supportive. I think i am going to spend more time being comfortable in my own skin in the future and not worrying so much about how people look at me. I don;t think this will change things much for those that know me but it will change how i feel about myself. Just maybe i won;t sink into depression and stop writing again. Because as i found out we can say we are happy all we want but that does not mean it's true.
Watch out. stories pending.
Mad thad is on the loose again.

Hello all.
Posted 13 years agoI'd like to give some kind of apology for not being around so much. I've been kinda neglecting my friends. I have been hard at work in a stressful job trying to hold things together and have not really had much time to myself. I have not been getting any writing done and i have other obligations such as a head for cornwall that is coming along beautifully but slowly.
I think primarily the cause is known to me and a big part of it is depression. Stress at works makes it really tough for me to deal with the depression i already suffer so i have buried myself in extreme physical activity to stay afloat. I've been absorbed in my training at Niagara Kung Fu academy and it has helped me get through the day to day stuff but it appears that i still have some work to do on a mental level.
As for my writing and fursuit stuff I think maybe my confidence has been so badly shaken i've just been afraid to take steps forward. The stuff i am doing for Cornwal looks great but i only work on it on days when i am feeling mentally capable because i really want this to be perfect for him. He deserves my best work. I am very sorry it has been taking so long.
This is not some kind of emo rant. I am perfectly aware of my condition and its effects on mood and such. I am working my way out of it and i am continuing to make big plans. I have another seminar with a grandmaster this month and i am hoping to use it to rekindle my love of writing with an article that i will submit to some magazines.
I also think i have worked out the problem i am having with mad thad and his capable canines. so expect that to me on the move again for the five of you that are reading it that is heheheh.
Something cool to note i have some free digital copies of my first book that came in the mail to me. They came in credit card form. it's a wicked collectable.
So i think i will do this. The two people that get their name posted by the most people in My next journal over the next two weeks can have one. I will mail it to you.
See you all soon, i hope.

Posted 13 years agoMy house hold and local pals are obsessed with heroclix(some am I really) I recently made a trade for a Capwolf. yeah that's right a captain america inflicted with Lycanthropy. He is awesome. he leads my team of animals which has devil dinosaur, tigra, manwolf, manbeast and several others that fit the fantastic world of furry.
Any other players out there?

So my son says...
Posted 13 years agoThe other day i was at my mothers working on the roof. I looked down to see my son playing in one of those tiny inflatable pools and said. "Hey Ronin should i jump in from here"
and he looks up and says.
"NO!... ....Your are not wearing your bathing suit"

It's been a while.
Posted 13 years agoHi everyone,
Well at least to the few of you that do check in on me once in a while. I have not been on much. I have been feeling pretty good despite the amount of stress at work and stuff so that's a good thing. But i have to say i think I've grown a little out of touch with the fandom. I love furry. I very much like the world of anthro characters that is there to make me smile and even giggle. But i think i've become to disappointed with what gets popular.
I've been writting steadily for nearly 7 years. i've written two collections of short stories a full length novel and most of another one along with piles of stuff in between for cons and friends. A fairly large body of work. My books sell well when beckaroo is in your face but online line and when i am not there it is a different matter. Perhaps, it's just that i am not a very good marketer and could use someone in my corner that is and more dedicated to that type of thing.
But i guess what i am trying to say is that my focus has to change. Not matter hoe many meets and fundraisers i attend or put on. No matter who i write for. No matter how many auctions i take top spot in above and beyond even the artist. It seems that i cannot get people to read my work unless i am shoving it in their face and this is basically because i don't write porn.
Yeah, i know know. this sounds like typical writer woes. But i assure this is no spur of the moment i am a sad suck moment. This is something i've had to think long and hard about. I've invested a lot of time and thousands of dollars writing for a fandom that i love but i am looking to get away from my daily grind and my dream is to write and entertain. But in this market that i focused on i can't do it without compromising me.
I can't write a brilliant peice of work and have five people read it and no comments and in the same week see a piece of nearly illiterate banter with some porn in it get a thousand views and piles of comments about how great and well written it is. It's sad because it is not only me. I see many great writers in the fandom that get ignored because there is nothing "sexy" about them and their profile.
So will continue to write for the fandom but only on my remaining obligations. New projects will focus on larger markets that don't require sex to make create a fan base. I wish to continue writing MAd thad and his capable canines because it is fun but i no longer have hopes of a comic and bigger things to follow unless the markets out and about take interest.
I will not be attending condition blue this year even though i supposed to be staff. I've had enough of trying to fight for any recognition for my work or even input and response to work i've been requested to do. My inlaws are going camping and i will be off spending time with my kids this year instead.
So, thank you furry fandom for all the smiles and kind words but there is a bigger world i must participate in.
To my friends in the fandom. Wherever you are. Stay cool and my door is still open.

What a cool weekend.
Posted 13 years agoI have to say i was disappointed that i could not have my BBQ but i think the weekend could not have gone better.
My day started with a slightly lazy morning with no rush.(a rare occurrence) Beckaroo and I had a quick bite to eat and then headed out to Pulp comics for free comic book day. While there i got a limited edition Hon Kong Phooey statue at a wicked price. Not only that we got the Free comic Book day Thor Heroclick for my son and a bunch of cool arse comics including Atomic robot and Mouse guard.
Once we left there we grabbed a coffee and headed home to prepare for my seminar. What seminar you might ask?
We'll me in my blissful ignorance signed up for a Kung Fu seminar that was taught by Grand Master Phillipman Chow. Little did i Know when i signed up for this how groovy and awesome an opportunity this would be. He is the president of the canadian Kung Fu association and the vice President of the North American Kung FU association. Not to mention he's an eighth generation Grand Master. It like being trained by Gracie if your into MMA.
I started my first week of training just before all of this and according to the class i am doing very well. we are attributing it to my hammer throwing training from years past.(foot work related.)
During this class they use my Camera to take all sorts of video and pictures. But alas in order for you to see them you'll have to check out Niagara Kung Fu Academy's Facebook page when we get them up.
What did they teach? I got to learn a 3rd chamber form called Mantis Vs Mantis, Male vs Female. It was awesome! i was able to learn the whole routine and have it matched up with the female counterpart! It was so cool get wailed on and wail on guys that were like stone! The two guys that Came with Master Chow were great and it was full contact blocking and striking. My arms are all bruised but i could not be happier for the experience. I learned tons and had a great time.
After the class we ate sushi and relaxed a bit with Master chow. How cool a day that is.
But it's not over yet.
While reviewing the video and pictures i notice our camera has developed a hot pixel. Crappy but it is under warrenty so we took it to the shop and sent it off. Beckaroo and I had some time to kill so we headed over to That's entertainment. And what did i find? A box set of Marx brothers films! total score! along with a copy of District 9.
Had me some fried chicken and then Picked up the kids. Later that night
Ledgema and
Skyryd3r stopped by for a visit and we had a grand time chatting.
Groovy day.

I think i can make it. for a couple of days anyways.
Posted 13 years agoTo WTF. i may be able to get the day before off. the idea of driving up there for the con is terrifying me though. I don't know why. I like driving but i will probably end up doing it alone. It is going to cost me a tone of gas and i have no idea about room or anything. I am totally unprepared.
I have virtually no connections to make any of this trip easier. Sure i have lots of friends but i am relatively unthought of when it comes to these things.
I hope to get there and perhaps perform some spoken word for you fine furs.
Crosses fingers.

Hey all, can i get some shouts to clear some harassment off
Posted 13 years agoHe folks can you all toss some shouts at me to clear my page of an awful word?
I'd appreciate it.
Thad.

So it was good timing for earth day.
Posted 13 years agoI bought a new lawnmower. You might be thinking what does that have to do with earthday. Well, it was and electric one that replaces my ancient gas powered one. I've been doing a lot of thinking about combustion engines lately. It has always been sort of a hobby of mine but lately it's really been on my mind. We complain that the electric cars are not good enough so we don't buy them.
Well if we don't buy them where is the incentive for a company to make them more competitive and sell them at cheaper rates? Cars get better every year because the companies are competing for our business. It is the consumer that decides what a company will sell. If we stand up and tell them we want better electric cars now and refuse the crap they make for us currently it will make a difference.
I think if i can find a way the next car i buy will be electric. Even if i have to build the damn thing myself. So when i see the trouble we are in i am not part of it.
So we bought a battery powered electric mower as a way to start.
Happy earthday everyone.

Okay folks, really. settle down.
Posted 13 years agoWell i've been an admin on another site. Sometimes admins make mistakes. But for the folks on this site to flip out over this was one thing but to continue on when the admins admitted their error is another.
I am sure there are reasons for these rules and as i have come to realize there are things that i will not know off hand so i just take them as they are. a rule is most likely in place for some reason and we all have access to them. Those of you that are freaking out and leaving should stop and ask yourself why you were posting here in the first place if all of a sudden their rules don't work for you.
Enforcement of the rules sometimes gets a little lazy in all areas of life but when they clamp down and try to set things right it does not give us the right to get upset by it.
I am here on FA and not some of the other site for a couple of reasons. Its hard enough for me to get watchers in a place where G rated writing virtually gets no attention. For me to go to another site where apparently they don't have these rules would make it nigh impossible.
It's great that Howie and Deoge were relieved of their ban. Seriously, i love those guy and from what i have heard it was not deserved so i am leaving it at that. So why don't we all just relax and remember why so many of us use FA.

Bad and good news folks. (BBQ related)
Posted 13 years agoWell folks the bad news is that i will not be able to host the BBQ on fee comic book day.(may 5th).
Why? Well there a couple of reasons. One is a seminar with Philipman Chow. He is teaching a seminar here in the falls that i signed up for a while ago and we just notice the date conflict now.(yeah i'm dumb sometimes) He is this guy http://www.martialartmantis.com/bio.html . I am joining my sons Kung FU academy and it is a great chance of a lifetime.
Two, things here at Effingham Productions have gone nuts. I have so much going on around the time of the BBQ that i don;t know if i can pull it all off and i'd rather not miss any deadlines.
Three, Response to the BBQ this year is rather limited. It is during a very busy moth for furries so i figure we might do it at a later date. If anyone has any suggestion please let me know.
Sorry all but i'll make it up to you.
Promiss
Thad.

Woot! finally up!
Posted 13 years agoSo if you have been watching
Beckaroo you might already know but here it is.
Frenetic ramblings of a furry madman(my first book) is finally available electronically. it is available on kobo http://www.kobobooks.com/ebook/The-.....od-e2w&r=1
and now
http://www.booksonboard.com/index.p.....OR=Caleb+Knott
And soon a pile of other media types. This is thanks to Book Tango. They seem to be full of win to work with.
Go grab yourself a copy. The story in Frenetic Ramblings of a Furry Madman or more edgy than in my second book. The second book has a lot of commissioned and requested work where as the first one is mostly my twisted mind running wild. It's an interesting contrast.

Awesome STuff!
Posted 13 years agoThis week i have been treated by some awesome Furs. First i got to see one of my stories make it to some kids at the Toronto Riverdale Library. It was produced by
flowkitty and put on by her pals. I'll post a link for the video here once it is up for everyone to see. Go give her some props folks they did a great job and entertained some cool kids.
And secondly
dannydingo sent me a sample of his narration of one of my stories. It was of my series Transpocolips. He is fantastic. I had a hunch that we had a talented fur like him hiding in there but neve had hard evidence. He also played one of the dogs in the puppet show and his enthusiasm for this type of stuff is very evident and welcomed.
It has made my super stressful week at work not matter so much. Thanks for all your hard work guys. It's nice to see that someone likes my work enough to do this kind of stuff with it.

Hey all! Come for our 4th annual spring BBQ!
Posted 13 years agoThat's right the free comic book day BBQ is up and happening again this year. This is the 4th annual spring bbq. It all started with a bout of happy! and will continue for years to come.
Anyhow on May5th it'f free comic book day. and this year will will walk the length of down town when we venture to Pulp Comics to snag our free swag! Weather permitting of course. This event will be followed by miniput at great wolf or perhaps some other events in a nearby park. If the numbers are large enough i may move to a larger venue but i think we will stuff this place with as many furs as possible. Niagara falls demands more furies! i've been told this by the operator of the niagara falls comicon. he says he loves it when we come by on free comic book day!
So stay tuned for more information and let us know if you plan on attending so that i can be prepared properly for the event!
Can't wait to see you all again!
Cheers! Thadius.

Posted 13 years agoFE was an incredible success!
Frenetic Ramblings was huge success.
I had a great time!
and Effingham Productions is growing faster than i can believe!
Beckaroo and I managed to get 42 copies of Frenetic ramblings 2 ready for FE 2012. We sold out by the morning on sunday and we not even there to sell on friday. So we basically sold out in a day. The first copy of the press was sold at auction with a chance to be featured in Mad Thad and His Capable Canines for 300 dollars! If it was not the highest priced item at the auction it was close. So huzzah! ANd thank you Jenora i can't wait to put you into the mix!
We have huge news too! We now have a distributor for my books! Bookshelf bear has taken on Frenetic Ramblings 2 and it will soon be available through them. As soon as it it i post the news!
we have also begun planning for the children's books based on on the puppet show flow and her crew performed and i had written. And that is just the beginning of things to come this year from us. Including comic books and a new novel!
With this huge influx of happenings Effingham productions has decided to open it doors to other authors. Not just guest appearances but we hope to be your publisher! Anthologies, novels and comic books ahoy! When are currently doing the math on the pricing and methods for submissions so watch for new on that here and on our homesite.
A big thank you to those that attended my Spoken word performance. It has given me the confidence to do it again at the next con i attend.
And most of all a huge hug to everyone that made the con so special for me and my family. I look forward to then next time i can wrap my arm around you.

What a feeling. some news.
Posted 13 years agoI get this little feeling that runs thought me when i make the last cut on a new book. They are warm from the glue and smooth between my burning fingers. I can hardly believe my second one is on it way to sale and every time i look at one i get a little giddy.
With two days to go i have 10 books left to bind and we are completely out of ink so i cannot print more until i've sold these. I will have made 50 for the con with 16 of them accounted for. I have a lot of requests to hold some for folks and i'll do what i can. A few of you a very dear to my heart so i will hold on to them tight. but if someone clubs me and takes it from my still hands please forgive me.
On other news i picked up a CPAP machine today. so tonight might be the first good sleep i had in over 20 years. it's been about that long since i've been able to really lay down new memories so this ought to be awesome.
I've started my new job and it is ridiculous how much stuff i am expected to learn and this week we are moving my entire job and its contents to a new location. So, yikes. I have to help with this move and its on friday when FE starts. So my first day at FE will start wil a 10 hour shift at work moving an entire warehouse after already doing an entire days work in the first 4 hours. So if i seem a bit tired while on stage feel free to give me a slap.
come see me at FE on Friday and i will do my beast to give you a good laugh. I also have a panel on writing on sunday. If anyone is willing to have a small room party(mine will have a sleeping child in it) to celebrate the release of Frenetic ramblings let me know. I'll do what i can to make it worth your time.
See you all soon!
