Good news and bad news- EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS STILL OPEN

Basically, the computer I use for everything broke over the weekend. I lost several WIPs (thankfully I have screenshots that I can use to restart them) and tons of personal data.
I do have a spare laptop that I'm using now but its not great. Some of the keys are busted and it has very limited space and it kinda chugs along. The good news is that I have the spare, and I was able to do enough tinkering to get it to register pen pressure after losing it for what seemed like forever a couple years back. The bad news is that its very slow to respond, therefore my pen strokes are a little.. janky. I will continue to fiddle with it, see if I can't get some settings to work for me as well as maybe clearing some space to hopefully remedy that problem. For now, this means I can work on commissions, albeit slowly.
The bad news is that this is only a temporary fix. This computer is very old and very delicate. The battery is drained and therefore will immediately power down if its unplugged, causing loss of data, as well as the fact that it just cannot run heavy lifting programs, since it struggles with just having sai.
I am still saving for a computer. More good news is that I have a coworker who is potentially goin to let me buy one of her old computers at a discounted price. More bad news is that its still $600 (which is a steal from what she's explained, since it was a $1200 computer and is barely over a year old.) More GOOD news though, is that I currently have $200ish that I can put towards it, however I still need the remaining $400.
So I'm opening up emergency commissions, so I can get this paid off ASAP!!!! I won't know the exact terms of our agreement until she returns to work on Tuesday, but for now, this is what I'm planning on. I would much rather spend the extra money and get a really good computer than settle for something and have it break in a year or two.

My computer broke! Emergency commissions!!

I was attempting to get my FFXIV back up and running since I was finally able to afford to resub (lolololol not anymore but its too late now.) All was good, I was downloading the patches and everything went smooth. After I was done, I was just waitin for my bf's download to finish, and my computer prompted me for a restart that I had been putting off for a day or two. So I went ahead and said fuck it.
This was the beginning of the end.
Upon reboot, steam had forgotten that ffxiv already existed and forced me to redownload everything which took several hours. I let the download run all night and it didn't really have any issues.
It finally finished and I boot it up and within 15 minutes, my computer overheated and shut down.
I let it rest for a bit and reboot it. It struggled for several more restarts before finally being able to function. I used it as normal to test to make sure it was fine. Everything ran as normal. So I put it to the true test and tried to run ffxiv, to which it overheated again. This was clearly a mistake, seeing as now it won't boot at all. It gets stuck on the start up screen before shutting down again. In addition to that, I've gotten a new error, which says that a cooling fan is now broken, on top of a hard disc failure that I've gotten before. I even tried deep cleaning it with no luck. For now, I'm letting it rest and will likely try again in a couple hours.
In the meantime, I have a spare laptop, but I'm not sure I'll be able to do much work on it. Last time I tried to use it, pen pressure didn't work. I haven't tried it yet, but its pretty important that I raise this money ASAP so I can continue to work on what I owe ; A ;
I'm not sure what the cost of repairs will be, and I've never had much luck with having laptops repaired, so I've been looking at refurbished laptops. Found a few that have specs I'll need for $150-200+shipping, but thats a bit more money than I can spend right now with bills and such.
So I'm opening up commission slots to help fund either repairs or a new laptop.
I want to budget about $200-250 just to be safe.

I do remember accidentally running one, because I misjudged the time I had to get through. However, this is my first time ever getting a driving citation, and the day after my birthday no less o<-<
I have to pay $65 for this citation, which. Is a lot but also isn't? It could be way worse, but that's literally all the money I had been saving to buy myself a new tablet for my birthday.
So, I'm opening two NSFW colored sketch slots. Can be any kink-- additional characters will cost extra.
If you don't want NSFW, then I'll do some shading to make up for the extra $5.
I'm really bummed that I can't buy my tablet now, because I was really needing a new one :C

Got a call first thing this morning from my mom and one of my sisters-- who is apparently supposed to pop her baby out any day now! So that's awesome. It's her first one-- my first nephew. What fun news!

It's honestly super crazy that I started drawing on this site just under six years ago when I was 20. I love this community so much, and I'm proud to be a part of it, despite all the chaos it bring (but what community doesn't have a little chaos and drama n shit lmfao?)
I'm really hoping to either be gifted a new tablet or to purchase one for myself for my birthday. I have my eye on one that I'm saving some money for, but we'll see cx
Other than that I don't really have any plans other than that-- took Saturday off work so maybe, if the weather is nice, we'll go out to the park or out to eat or something fun like that. I'll probably draw some personal art-- I don't really do much else to celebrate since I don't have many irl friends that I actually hang out with.

General | Posted 7 years agoI only have one pending commission in my queue, which I plan to get finished very soon, so I figured I would open for some commission slots soon! I need to raise $200 in order to get my car registered for the year by May, as well as some extra supplemental to get caught up on the rest of my bills, as well as some extra buffer money for any unexpected expenses that may pop up.

Soul is an old fursona that I'm still kinda attached to but also NEVER use and probably won't for some time. His price technically just?? Offer? I guess, willing to consider payment plans, but I estimate his worth to be around $200 give or take.
Willing to look at trades too and will consider art, but I'm more interested in designs rn.

General | Posted 7 years agoI have so many characters that I'm absolutely in love with-- the first time in a long time that I feel genuinely happy with most of the ones I have. So much so that I want to draw them all all the time but I only have so much time!! This will likely be easier once I get through the rest of my queue and take a good break to just draw what I want but still!!

General | Posted 7 years agoI really really didn't want to have to take more commissions until I got more through my queue, but bills have been eating all my money and I barely have enough for rent rn, and so many other bills have fallen behind. Luckily, my income tax is on the way so I'll be able to catch up then, but I still need to buy gas and food for my pets in the meantime.
I need about $40 to cover gas and pet food.
$20 for gas and $20 for pet food ($11 for my dogs food and about $8 for my cats food)
So I'll be opening two $20 commission slots

To my commissioners: An apology
General | Posted 7 years agoI know I have taken a long time to get your commissions done. I think about it daily, and I constantly feel guilty about it. I am not here to give you a string of excuses, but I am here to explain why it has taken so long, and what the plan is moving forward.
I have have no energy and no motivation to draw. That's the long and short of it, really. Between my full time job, as well as taking care of my disabled boyfriend, I just don't have the energy. Whenever I do have the energy, I either have way too much other shit that I've been putting off, like dishes or laundry, or to motivation or inspiration to draw. I do not want to give you all half ass slapped together work. But its come to the point where its becoming a problem.
I do not know when I'll get out of this slump, and I don't expect you to wait around forever. I would like to finish these commissions, but I also kind of don't? Not because I don't want to draw for you guys but more that I hate having that guilt eating at me and I hate making you all wait. So, I have been heavily debating this. I don't have a lot of money to spare, in fact that's a big reason as to why I'm in this mess in the first place. I took on more commissions than I could handle because I'm struggling to make ends meet every week. However, I may be able to spare a refund once or twice a month, at least until I get my tax return back.
So, if you are a commissioner of mine and you would like to be put on my refund queue, please let me know. Do know it will not be immediate, but if you'd rather wait a bit for a refund than the art, I totally understand.
After all these commissions are either refunded or completed, I think I'm going to be taking a break from commission work for a while, too.
I hope you all understand and I deeply apologize for the unprofessionalism. Feel free to comment below or note me with your preference. If I don't hear back from all my commissioners in a week or so, I'll be reaching out as well. Happy new year everyone!
