Hey, everyone. I want to actively apologize for how slow my commissions have been taking as of late. Work and life in general have been kicking my ass and I'm having a hard time staying motivated to draw. I'm attempting to draw today, even starting with some smaller commissions to try to get in to the groove, but I'm still struggling a bit.

I really don't want to post mediocre art just for the sake of getting it out faster, and I think that's a part of why I'm struggling to even just work on anything because I know I'm not at my best. But its a bit of a catch-22 because if I don't work a) it won't get done and b) I'll never find my groove.

This past week at work has been particularly exhausting. I have a co-worker who has been starting to become extremely grating, passive aggressive, and petty, on top of the fact that I was literally harassed by a customer I had to talk to that left me shaking and teary for a good few hours, and I'm still not entirely over it.

I'm really trying to push through all of this, but know that my mental health has not been great as of late. I promise I'm working, albeit a bit slower than usual. I am really hitting a wall when it comes to commission work.
I am now working full time, which means a full 8 hour day, five days a week. I get up at 6am on those days to be there at 7am and work until 4pm. My off days are now Sundays and Mondays. This means that my personal time is very limited. I need time to cook, eat, keep my house clean, do my laundry, take care of any errands, and just have some personal time for myself to relax and be ready for the next day.
As you can imagine, this leaves very little time to really focus on commission work, and I'll be honest with you, it's become really hard to want to draw. Just the desire to pick up my tablet and do the one thing that used to make me so happy, and it honestly just gives me anxiety and stress. I don't want to keep you guys waiting, especially those of you who have helped me tremendously over these past few months. I owe so much to you guys.
So I wanted to apologize to all my commissions for the slow output of art. I know you've all been waiting for quite some time, and I'm sorry its still taking me a while to put anything out. But I'm also having a hard time liking anything that I'm drawing, and I definitely don't want to give anyone a subpar commission just to be done with it.
I hope you all can understand, however if you'd like a refund please let me know. It might take me some time to actually refund it (no longer than a week or so, unless its a bigger commission or I have too many wanting refunds at once).

I will also offer a change in commission type for not added charge (within reason). Anything with lineart I want to steer away from because the meticulous and precise nature is really where I'm struggling the most. But if you want to change your commission to a colored sketch, (with or without shading/background/etc depending on price of initial commission) then I'd probably be able to get that kind of stuff done much quicker, since sketches are easier for me to digest and tend to have more fun with them.
The one exception to this would be the collab piece, since that is with someone else, so it wouldn't make sense lol

Anyway, I just thought I'd be transparent with you all. I'm really trying to knock all this stuff out, but my creativity, energy, inspiration, muse, and motivation is just seriously lacking right now and I apologize. And usually the easiest way to break me out of that is to do a personal drawing, but I feel so guilty nor do I have the inspiration or motivation to even draw for myself. Anyway. So we got some of our essentials moved into our new place. It will take another day or two to get everything fully moved, but the good news is that we're capable of living in our space!
Our internet isn't set up yet, but is supposed to be set up in the next few days. Right now we're using the internet at the Firehouse Subs literally right next to us, so we still have some internet connectivity, so there won't be a lull in commissions!

Today I'll be doing more moving, but I have to wait for my friend to get off work. So I'll probably be doing a bit of commission work before and after all of that!

So we were looking at apartments so we could put a hold on one for when we were ready to move in September. However one of the ones we stumbled on had free rent for the month of August and was one of the cheapest we were looking at. We're getting a small loan from my boyfriend's aunt to help pay the deposit and such, but we move in tomorrow!

I am so excited, guys. I'm FINALLY going to have my own living space again. No more children giving me hell when I'm trying to do stuff, no more kids rummaging through my shit when I'm not home. No more kids waking me up at the ass crack of dawn. No more passive aggressiveness in my face. No more trying to be small and as out of the way as possible. I'll get to decorate as I please, stretch my legs, and LIVE again.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to get a car until later in the month, so I'm having to bum rides, but I have a couple people willing to help me out until then.

Starting next week, August 6th, I will be starting my shiny new job. I am both excited and terrified to start. I'll be making really good money, with stable hours and days off, but I'm also scared because I've never done this kind of work before. I hope all goes well and the six weeks worth of training will more than prepare me to succeed, but we shall see.

That being said, I do not receive my first paycheck until August 24th. This means that I will need to continue taking commissions at least until then so that I can make sure my bills get paid and I can afford to buy things like pet food and other essentials.
The sum of my bills up until the 24th amount to $385. This doesn't include any late fees that have come up from having to miss payments this last month, but I hope to be able to deal with those once I get my first paycheck. This is just the minimum I'm going to have to pay.

Once I get my first paycheck, I won't be taking commissions as often. I will be working a full 40 hour week, and I also want to be able to focus more on refining my style without the pressure of commissions. I will likely still open slots from time to time, however, and I plan to still do trades, as well as more raffles and the like. So look forward to that! I may also raise my prices at that time. I feel like I'm undercharging myself right now, but the stress of getting enough commissions to pay my bills has kept me from raising them. However, for now, my prices will remain the same.

I plan to sketch up a couple YCHs and open up some slots in the next couple days, because I have a couple bills due at the end of the week.

After over a full month without it, we finally have internet again.

Living without internet has been really tough. Luckily, I've been able to manage doing art and applying to jobs without too much issue, thanks to friends who let me use their internet.
I have done like five interviews for three jobs this week, and have another one on Saturday.
Two of the jobs said no, but I landed the one I REALLY wanted. I'll be making really good money with stable hours in an office setting, so that's super exciting. They said they were "very impressed" with my interview cx This job doesn't start until early August though, so I'm still trying to find something in the meantime.
One of the jobs that denied employment was for a specialist position, and while they said they weren't going to go forward with it, I showed promise, and the assistant manager seemed to really like me. I have another interview scheduled for tomorrow afternoon for a regular position at that same store, so I'd imagine I'll be able to land that without any real problems.

Most of my queue is done. I haven't done a lot of art the last couple days because I've been in crazy interview mode. I have an appointment to have my fingerprints done this afternoon, and I'm pretty sure I'm being taken out to celebrate my job(s) on Saturday, but I promise I'll get cracking on the rest of stuff in my spare time. Commissions will probably slow down a bit due to my job, but I still want to do them. But having this more steady income for higher amounts is seriously going to help me get back on my feet.

I got a call from the investigator and told him the situation. He said that if the guy picked it up in another state, then there isn't anything he can really do, which I find utterly bullshit.
He may or may not call me back, it was hard to say from the way he was talking, but I hope he does.
I want to see what I can do to push forward on this case, despite it being out of state. Surely SOMEONE can do something. This guy should not be allowed to continue doing this just because he's across state lines.

But for now, it looks like I'm stuck with the negative balance with no way to rectify it other than working my ass off to pay it off.
I plan to get a new bank account so that I can still live, but I will be slowly paying off that debt as well.

He was very helpful, but unfortunately, it seems like the case is going to be complicated.
Because the guy is out of state, and likely someone who has done this before, there is a chance fake IDs were used and that the check is forged or he took the money out before the check cleared.
He is going to file an investigation, and I should hear back in the next couple days -- unfortunately if I don't pay my $50 phone bill, it will be shut off, which will make this way harder.

Apparently the guy I sold the RV to bounced the check that he sent me.
I had already paid off the loan and sent back the money so he could get it moved.
He messaged me like the next day, saying there was a family emergency and had to do something with the money, when he knew that I had already sent it all.
I thought it was okay, but apparently the check hadn't fully cleared, despite me being able to use the money. My bank said it was because I had good standing, so they allowed immediate access. I called the guy a bunch of times but he won't answer phone calls or texts.
My bank told me to file a police report so I'm getting ready to do that. Not sure what I'm going to do in the meantime. All the money I had in my paypal, I just transfered over to my bank, but I didn't check my balance before hand, so now its just. Gone.

Please, if you can toss me some money so I can at least pay for a couple necessities and my $50 phone bill tomorrow I would be SO SO SO appreciative. More than willing to draw for anything that is sent. Just let me know what you want.

The laptop that I was sent has finally arrived, so now I can FINALLY get back to my queue.

Believe it or not, you are literally ALWAYS getting better, especially if you keep drawing consistently.

I hear a lot of people say that doing studies and technical art really helped them with their slumps too, so keep that in mind if you're in a slump!
I hope this helps someone, because it's helped me so much over the years.

Okay, so in case you didn't know, my main art laptop is currently out of commission until I can get a replacement charger. The cheapest I've been able to find, due to the fact that its a high power laptop, is $60. I cannot currently afford this right now, but I'm working on finding a job, as well trying to take more commissions to cover it.

I do have some alternative laptops. The one I'm on now lets me draw occassionally, but I have to reset my driver every time I need to use sai, or I have no pen pressure. Unfortunately, this doesn't always work, which makes working on commissions extremely difficult.

I've tried the other spare computers (my boyfriends old laptop, as well as his sisters laptop) but even with new drivers, they still don't work correctly. I'm still working on finding a temporary solution.

The good news is that I have someone working on sending me their old laptop, since they got a new one a little while back. It might take a few more days to get it prepped and shipped and then for it to actually arrive. In the meantime, I will still be doing my best to make this current laptop work as well as seeing if I can't get another one to work.

I do have commissions open, and I'm willing to do discounts and deals. The sooner I can get a new charger for my laptop, the sooner I can get back to work and knocking out everything I owe. I also still have bills to make in the meantime, so I'd appreciate every little bit I can get until I can get all of this sorted out ; A ;

It's so nice, after five years of being on this website, to finally have a fursona that I not only connect with deeply, but that I want literally everyone to draw xD
I still love my two other "sonas," Soul and Tokio, but I often found myself second-guessing whether I wanted certain artists to draw them. And it wasn't because I didn't think the artists could draw them well or anything like that. Theyre both pretty basic furries. I think with Tokio, it was the constant battle of "which form do I want drawn" or wanting a certain body type drawn, but also wanted to commission artists who had a specialty in another (like muscles vs more feminine bodied characters). And in the instance of Soul.. idk he just kinda felt bland? Same with Tokio. They both seemed kind of one-note-y to me. Not that I find their designs bland- oh hell no, I love and adore both of their designs bc they're both so easy and fun to draw. But like. Their personalities and what they represented to ME felt kinda bland and disconnected, if that makes sense?
But with Magnai. He's so... REAL to me. He's three dimensional and exciting and bright. He's dynamic and interesting and I don't struggle picking him for artists to draw him. I literally want everyone to draw him xP

Ugh. I hate having all these emergency posts, but this is a necessity if I'm going to continue doing art.
Turns out my laptop screen got a little messed up in all the chaos of the move.
I inspected my charger, and it looks like some wires got exposed and one of the internal wires got shredded, which could be the cause, which is what I'm really really hoping all it is. If its just the charger, its only about $30-50 to get a new one, depending on where I can find one to get fast enough.

So things got mad crazy and hectic on Friday. Suddenly the apartment that we dumped over $600 on was basically pulled out from under us because our roommate told us pets were fine, but she signed the lease that said no dogs allowed. We were told we had to leave that day, and all my family was out of town for the holiday weekend or unwilling to help.

Luckily, my partners mom was able to wire us gas money to drive back to Iowa so that's what we did. We ended up breaking down on our second day and were stuck on the side of the road for like four hours in the heat while AAA called a million places trying to find someone willing to tow an RV. Luckily they found someone willing to take us to a nearby truck stop so we could wait while my partners mom drove the 500+ miles to get us, which was like eight hours. Then we packed up as much shit as we could into the car and left.

We had to leave a lot of shit behind, including our mattress which really sucks, and quite a bit of our clothes and other personal belongings we didn't REALLY want to leave behind but didn't have the space for. Luckily we got the most important shit and enough stuff to survive on.

So our situation has continued to go downhill. Now we're essentially homeless again. However, my boyfriends aunt dipped into her living expenses to help us get back to Des Moines. We want to rent an enterprise instead of risking it with the rv yet again for nearly 1000 miles. The money they're giving us is NEARLY enough. If I can get another $100-200 we should be solid.

Please I'm desperate. I know I keep asking for help, but once we get back to Iowa, we'll be golden. We'll have a place to stay and I can get another job so I won't have to be asking for help anymore.
