I actually cant find their panel line up D: Someone help me find it plzzzz! I will not be entering the dance comp, too busy to practice again :(
Attending/Hosting any photoshoots?
MAYBE a TFP photoshoot. Still working out details.
Do you speak in/out of suit?
Both of my suits are "silent" but if you ask me a question I will most likely answer you. Just remember I may not hear you! I'm actually more shy out of suit but please don't hesitate to talk with me :) Phoenix will be with me and I'm much less anxious when I'm with him.
How do I get your attention?
Yell out "Pandora!" or "Pan!". The name of whoever I'm suiting as is fine too! A shoulder tap is fine but please no surprise hugs or touching! Waving at me is fine, but if I'm in suit I might not be able to see you right away. If you cant get my attention try to get Phoenix' and have him tell me so I know you're there xD

Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Please ask before hugging, I will probably say yes! Snuggles are reserved for Phoenix though!
Can I come to dinner with you?
If we invite you, sure! Though we wont be able to pay for anyone and we can be boring to sit with sometimes xD
Can I follow you around?
If we have agreed to hang out sure, otherwise please dont be creepy. If you're trying to get good pictures of our suits, just ask us to pose! No need to be secretive or creepy about it!
Can I hang out with you?
Sure. See answer above.
Can I take your picture?
In suit most definitely! Out of suit we can both be camera shy but we'll probably still take a picture with you if you ask :)
How do I know if you're not looking to socialize (angry, busy or upset)?
Chances are I will be in my room if that is the case. Also, my attack dragon will growl at you and tell you to leave (Phoenix will tell you I'm not felling well xD).
Personality Type?
INFJ-T is what I always get? Basically though at cons I try to be friendly and social but I can be a little shy. If you want to talk to me just start up a conversation and I will gladly chatter back! I'm bad at STARTING social interaction.
What's your goal for the con this year?
Fursuit, make friends, meet friends, socialize, play games, dance my tail off, and just have a great time!
I'm sosososososo excited you guys! First BLFC and Phoenix' first REAL experience at a big con! It's gonna be AMAZING!

UPDATES
Posted 9 years agoHey-o! Been a while since I've posted anything here, hasn't it?
Well, in that case, I figured I would explain why.
First of all, I have just been very very busy lately. I've been focusing a lot on my mental health, and less on my online attendance. I've been playing with my pets, spending time with Phoenix, and overall just getting myself back to a point where I feel like I can operate at a decent level. This has required some changes, as well as some sacrifices that I will be addressing.
First of all, for my mental health to improve I've decided that I need to work on my physical health as well. This means that I have been trying to eat better, as well as exercise more. Now, it's been a slow going process, but one that I am so incredibly happy to be starting. Hopefully you guys will see the difference in the next fursuiting video I'm in/con that I attend! Not even just by my appearance, but by my energy levels as well!
Second, I have been spending more time on relationships and making sure I have a stress-free environment. This includes spending time with friends, having movie nights with Phoenix, keeping my house clean, and all around just doing what I can to remove clutter from both my mind and surroundings.
Now, onto what you really came here for. Art updates.
I do indeed have some drawings that I have made to upload, I just haven't gotten around to watermarking them yet.
Art trades are still tentatively open, as well as "requests". See this journal for information on that: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7802794/
I haven't drawn much at all lately due to lack of interest, we will see how that goes.
I am currently waiting on 1 trade piece, and 2 references from other people as well so I will be posting those once they are completed. And yes, one of them will be Pandora! I am going to be working with someone to finalize the details of her design :)
Our next con is officially BLFC! Kaiju con! It looks like we MIGHT make Califur for a day, but I can't promise anything on that. And as far as cons go, I think that's all for this year sadly. I want to go to Anthro North West up in my home state when it happens, but that is not anywhere near planned.
We've been saving for a new car, so I actually have a bunch of stuff that I will be posting for sale here soon. Including a good portion of my fur stock most likely.
Why would I sell my fur stock? Well, that brings me to my next announcement.
I am no longer going to be selling fursuits or taking commissions for them. Now, before you freak out let me explain.
Recently, I have been having a lot of issues with my mental stability, hence all of the life changes I have been trying to make. This one, however, I think will help the most. Almost every time I thought of re-opening for commissions, I stressed out to the point of having a break down. Advertising and replying to emails was taking more of my time than anything else, and 99% of the people that emailed me asking for a quote never replied after receiving it. Now, I'm not saying this is your fault, but it did have an effect on how I looked at my work. Instead of seeing improvement, all I saw were flaws. I felt guilty at the idea of sending out anything I had made, rather than proud of the art I had created. I dreaded emails and notifications and messages. Again, none of this is your fault, and I know that this was no-one's intention. However, I just can't bring myself to enjoy working on commission anymore. And if I don't enjoy it, I'm not going to do it. It never once brought me the financial stability I need, yet demanded twice as much time as anything else I could have been doing.
"But Pandora, what about premade suits?" Ah yes, those. Well, I won't really be doing those either. Rather, I want to focus on building things for myself. Or for a charity auction at a con. Or maybe even for raffles some day. I just don't want this to be a job anymore.
I remember, 4 or so years ago, when I just LOVED everything about making fursuits. I loved having my super crappy white wolf fursuit. And, even though I was far from the best looking suit at a con, I had FUN! I posted pictures online to spread a message I cared about, or share a silly picture, or just because. Recently? I have hated every single personal suit I have made for myself. I have seen all of the flaws and because of that hardly any of my suits have lasted more than a year with me. I want to completely re-make the kitsunes. Which means that all of that money spent on them was wasted. And commissioned work? Even if I loved how it turned out I still saw every flaw. But that, that wasn't what bothered me. What bothered me was the numbers. All I cared about were numbers. Followers, likes, comments. Those were all sooooo important to me. They meant potential clients, and they meant potential income.
This went from a fun hobby, to a stressful job. And I hated it. I saw cons as a BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY rather than a VACATION. I was so worried about if my suit would bring in revenue, that I forgot to have fun.
Well, no more of that. I want this to be fun again. So, for now, I am closing commissions indefinitely. I may re-open one day, but I also may not.
To those of you who have read this far, there is good news. I will not be stopping making fursuits all together. In fact, I already have at least 10 suits planned for this year. Woah now, they aren't all for me. Okay, maybe 2 are for me and 2 are for Phoenix. But the other 6? Those are going to good friends of mine as part of my rainbow sled dog team project! I will be explaining more about that some time soon (hopefully!) so if you're interested keep an eye out!
You may have noticed that I started calling
my "portfolio" account. That is because I still LOVE that name, and should I ever choose to take commissions again I plan to use that name again! But for now, it will just be a place for me to build my portfolio without all of the personal stuff you see here!
So yeah, TL;DR: I've been making a lot of changes lately and they may affect how often I post. Art is slow, but I am open for trades. And, unless stated otherwise, I will no longer be taking fursuit commissions.
Thank you all so much for reading. I hope you all understand, and continue to follow my journey in this crazy community that I so greatly enjoy. Have a great rest of your day and stay awesome! Buh-bye!

Fursuits are expensive, and rightly so. (Rant... kinda?)
Posted 10 years agoBefore I start, this is not directed at anyone in specific.
Throughout this journal I will be listing all my sources.
I can't stay quiet about this anymore. I have witnessed that a few other artists and I recently have been told we "overcharge" for our work.
First, let's look at how much a professional "mascot" costume that would be used at a college, sporting event, etc may cost.
http://www.avantgarb.com/mascots-10.....m-mascot-cost/
4k-8k. Crazy right? And did you see the price just for a proper design ref? 1500-5k (yes, 2D artists, you are all worth so much more as well!)
However... we are part of a community where people seem to feel almost entitled to artwork of their characters, or these crazy costumes that they think will make them popular. But... they don't want to pay for quality? For style? For experience? For time? Well, news flash, these are all things you HAVE to pay for, ANYWHERE.
When you tell an artist that they are overcharging, you are telling them they are not worth it. You are insulting their work. This can really hurt some people. You are telling them that the time and late nights and money they have spent learning this art form has been in vain. You wouldn't go into a clothing/video game/etc store and start yelling at the clerk that they charge too much. You would just go, "darn, that's out of my budget/I can't afford that right now". And this is EXACTLY what you should do with artists!
This is an incredibly expensive craft for EVERYONE. Not just the customer! "They make sooo much money on fursuits!", is such a painful statement. I will explain why later, first let's look at what you're paying for.
Fur ALONE can cost several hundred dollars. Then there's foam, glue, thread, other fabrics, plastics, resin, silicone, etc etc etc. Then there is our equipment. Which chances are we don't charge you for every time, but every time it is used it wears down. Nearing closer to replacement. There's also shipping from all of the places we are ordering our supplies from, gas in our cars that we use to go on shipping/supply runs for YOUR costume, power to run equipment, and bills that we have to pay for studio space (even if that studio space is our own homes!).
Now, what about our time? Yeah, you have to pay for that, but it isn't as simple as an hourly wage because we may work at different rates on different things. And as our skill goes up so do our prices, yet our time may be cut in half.
Paying for our "time" does not necessarily mean the time spent on your project. It means the time we have spent gaining skill with this craft as well. It means the time we spend replying to emails and hunting down supplies online. The time we spend with trial and error for new patterns just so that YOUR piece is perfect. The time we spend taking pictures to show you. The time we spend stressing over is every little detail is where it needs to be.
"Well, so-so charges less. Why can't you?". This. This is INCREDIBLY RUDE. Maybe that person just wants more examples or isn't confident in their work. Maybe they use different materials. Every artist is different, and every artist has the right to choose what they charge.
Okay, let's go back to why people saying we make so much money upsets us.
We work on a COMMISSION BASIS. This means that we get work whenever someone chooses us to create a project. Now, we can make ready to sell costumes, but this requires money out of pocket and has no guarantee to sell, so let's stick with the commissions for now.
I personally make "about half profit". Now, what I mean by this if I had to buy ALL of the materials for a project I would have about half of what the cost of the project was left over for myself. I don't always have to buy all of these things though, so often I make more than half profit but that is the minimum margin I try to set for myself in order to make enough money to afford the cost of living (which I don't on my own currently due to the fact that commissions are hard to come by and am still making a name for myself). This is not counting any equipment that may need to be replaced. That comes directly out of my "profit". Many professional artists make more than half because they have perfected their craft and you are paying for a higher quality product as well as their style and name.
So, for the sake of demonstration let's say I take a semi-realistic fullsuit at base price (2k for myself), and have to restock ALL of the necessary materials and have exactly 1k left. My rent is 750 a month, so I have 350 left over for other bills, food, etc. Okay, I can just barely make that work. However, let's say the suit doesn't take me a month, it takes two. Now I'm only making 500 a month and cant even make rent. That's scary. So when people go "oh they make lots of money!" it can upset us. "Starving artist", is a saying for a reason. Some of us make a living wage and don't struggle, but it takes a long time to get to that point and with new builders popping up left and right that is getting harder and harder. Some of us work other jobs, or have roomates/significant others that do (my boyfriend works two full time jobs and pays for everything, with me helping when I can because fursuit money DOES NOT last long!) Now, of course more complex designs get charged more. But again this is so that the money made is enough to support me for the amount of time I spend on their project.
Okay, so say I have all the materials for a project. Does that person get a discount? Absolutely not! Would it be fair if person A had to pay full price so I could restock, but person B only had to pay half price? If you were person A, you'd be pretty mad. And by the time I was done with person Bs project, I would be completely out of materials and either have to pay out of pocket to restock, or wait until I got another commission and then again charge them full price. Basically, everyone pays for their materials, or the price to REPLACE the materials used on their project. This way is the most fair way to go about things for everyone.
Let's go into how much these things cost, let me break it down completely.
For this demonstration I'll be using my personal fursona, Pandora: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/16017064/
I'll be listing how much it costs to make her mask in a semi-realistic style, with the supplies I would choose and think best. (These are the ACTUAL supplies I plan to use on this mask in the future). This WILL NOT included shipping for these prices.
Let's start with my outsourced parts. I tend to get most of them from DVC: https://www.etsy.com/shop/DreamVisi.....hopheader-name
Cut/Hinged mask blank: $135
1 color silicone nose: $10
1 color silicone tongue: $8
Lower K9 Jawset only (base painted): $12.50
And I like the LED eyes by YEEP: https://www.etsy.com/listing/206141.....home_active_24
$50
I'm going to need foam for adding shape and the ears
both 1/2 inch ($9) and 1 inch ($12) <- prices are assuming I buy the smallest increments since it is only a mask
I will also need a stabilizing foam for the ears, let's use EVA in this scenario as it is what I am currently using: http://www.big5sportinggoods.com/st.....01/_/A-4521217
$25
Gonna need hot glue: http://www.amazon.com/Economy-Melt-.....words=hot+glue (buying these bulk boxes online is almost the same price as buying fewer sticks and therefore the most cost effective)
$25
The lining of the mask and head covering is important: http://www.joann.com/sew-classics-s.....mp;amp;start=2
$13
Elastic to hold the mask up: http://www.joann.com/knit-elastic/1.....prefv1=Product
$5
Thread to hold it all together (this is assuming I choose to only use one color of thread): http://www.joann.com/gutermann-upho.....p;amp;start=18
$6
Apoxie sculpt for the eyelids and lips: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aves-Studio.....kAAOSwgQ9VrgTu
$20
Epoxy to hold the jawset, tongue, and nose in place: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-DEVCON-.....0AAOSweW5VWpCF
$10
Gonna need duct tape to pattern the mask: http://www.amazon.com/Scotch-1055-K.....duct+tape+55yd (local store sells these size rolls for about $7 so lets go with that)
Wooo we are at $347.50 BEFORE FUR! Now lets get to that!
Fur the face a half yard of this: http://www.crscraft.com/products/pr.....searchOffset=x
$13.25
And a half yard of this for the eye dots and ears: $13.45
Half a yard of this for the fluffy white parts: http://www.mendels.com/Arctic-Fox.html $18.25
And another half yard for the black tips and ear bases $18.25
Looks like I can only get a whole yard of this at a time for the mane: https://www.etsy.com/listing/236578.....home_active_15
$47
And a yard of this for the inner ear: http://www.millyardage.com/ProductD.....p;amp;CartID=1
$13.75
That brings us to $123.95 for fur...
So a total of $471.45 for materials alone
Which if that's multiplied by two for my minimum margin of profit would be $942.90. Which I would then round to $950 for a nice neat number. THAT is what I would charge for this mask with all of the specifications listed if that's what the materials costed. But remember that in this quick demonstration I did NOT factor in shipping! Which that alone would add a good deal more onto the price since that is the customers responsibility to pay for. I also did not add that I would have wanted a shorter pile blue fur for the inner ear fluff. Now, depending on who is out of stock/doesn't ship to PO boxes prices are subject to change from this quick little write up.
I am sure there is more I want to touch on, so I might add to this later. But please please PLEASE be considerate when looking into an artists prices. Be prompt and clear when asking/answering questions since time is valuable. Oh! And one more thing. PLEEEASE trust the artist! You commissioned us because we know what we are doing! Answer any questions asked and correct us on any design flaws (provided that your ref was clear and we happened to overlook it. Reference art not fit for professional interactions is a topic for another day), but know that we understand how to construct these things! Chances are, if you micro-manage us you will receive a less desirable product than if we had been left to do what we know how to do best!
TL:DR-Artists of all types are worth far more than you may realize, and fursuits are a very expensive LUXURY item for a reason. If you cannot afford something, say that rather than that the artist overcharges. Understand that this is a business and you will be treated as any other customer. Let us do what we do best! All we want to do is craft you quality products and have happy, peaceful transactions!
And for those of you that STILL might think I'm overcharged, here are starting prices from many other makers that I was able to easily locate. They are all around or above my skill level. These are their STARTING prices, from masks to digitigrade fullsuits, ranging from $450-$5k. "You get what you pay for." and quality doesn't come cheap. No pain, no gain.
