Came online as soon as I heard about it.
Puts me into the gray area way more then I'd like, past, present and future. So I'm torn between deleting everything or just flat out deactivating. Trouble with deactivation is there's going to be folks who are still set up here that I don't know if I'd get to see elsewhere.

But yeah, I don't imagine there's going to be backsies this time. Last time was an emergency situation brought on by outside threats. This one's from within. Even if the policy changes don't stick, the wind is still blowing in that direction.

Drawing's turning into this stressful trial of mental endurance where nothing is ever quite right and until it is I'll be going over the same single shapes or single lines, or searching for hours for that one pose in that one angle to reference from heavily. A week or two passes and while I'm satisfied with the result, the suffering just doesn't make sense when someone with equal or greater chops could probably knock it out in a few hours or so.

So yeah, reckon I need to relax a bit in some regard. Quantity or quality or both. If you got suggestions though on how to beat this unhealthy level of perfectionism I'm all for it

I don't know if it was anything to do with my complaint or anyone else's or just time in general it seems ever since a day after that journal it's been easier then it's been for a while to get onto the site, and I'm not getting kicked off every 2 seconds either.

Which means I don't have to go. Yay.

Well it seems with the recent site attack I see in the news banner they've made some significant changes to their suspicious user detection. Why's that important in my case? Well, I'm a Tor Browser user. I like my privacy. Tor essentially shields my identity when I connect to websites, and part of this is connecting to the site through different IPs each time. Each of these IPs I connect with are now blocked for posting illegal content, or blocked by the next time I load a page.

I don't blame them for doing it, but as it stands the site is literally unusable for me now. Browsing will be a pain, replying will be hell if I even try to, and uploading is completely out of the question. I'll have to abandon this account and return to just being on DA. So if you need me, I'll be over there.

It's 12:30am here, and it being now the 18th means it's now my birthday. Whoo.
I'm dumping everything I've got because between me committing to working in larger sizes and just not finding the time I don't think can restart the weekly post train.
So yeah, I don't know when I'll be posting again, but the point is I still exist.

Oh yeah, I'm still taking prompts.

I'd have posted art on Saturday as per the usual schedule but given it's Christmas Day and there's no guarantee of availability I figured I'd just get it out of the way now. So yeah, surprise! Red and Erica are back!

I'll be taking that break though as planned. Might still use the time to draw, but working on the Merry Mischief Photography introductory six-parter wiped out that stash of 8 weeks worth of art I was so proud of maintaining. So yeah, I'd like to get a small stash going again before I make regular posts.

Life's been getting in the way a bit here and I've not been able to dedicate much time to the weekly drawings. I've also been trying to do a little surprise which hasn't been helping things. I've got stuff to show until Christmas but after then I might take a little time off to chill and start building up the cache again. I do like that flexibility of having a bunch of art in my back pocket.

So all things have been going good so far in regards to the return. I've got enough art here to last me 2 months now. I've hit a snag though where the ideas I've got right now I'm not feeling at the moment or haven't been able to convey in a convincing manner.

Before I was taking thoughts from my inner friend circle - now I think it's time to open things up a bit more. Think you have an idea? Hit me up. These aren't traditional requests I'm taking though, I just want you to inspire me. So here's some ground rules:

• Tame ideas only, no lewdity. This is agiven.
• No OCs. I'm not after self-serving suggestions. Exception to my characters because ya'know, they're mine.
• Priority goes to exciting ideas. If I get a brainwave that's a good sign. Extra credit might be given to things that aren't just round because variety.
• I don't want to know every detail. A character, what to do with them, a little context if you think you've got something juicy there. If I like the thought we can come up with a smart way to do it.
• None of this is a promise. It can get buried under newer ideas, I can forget, I may not be able to come up with an interesting take, I may not like the character, I may struggle and not be able to realize a vision. Please don't hold me to it.

So yeah, let's give this a go.

I'm back, for the foreseeable future. The foreseeable future being at least a month and a half because that's how much art I got stockpiled if I slow burn it and upload once a week. That's essentially my plan now - keep a bunch of art handy so if I ever get blocked the pressure's still low and I've got a bunch of weeks spare to get back in the game. So expect to see me in your feed continuously, if not constantly.

To be honest, I'm still trying to figure out what's different this time. What's made me do 8 fully backgrounded pieces in 30 days rather then what feels like 30 years. It can't so much be the pressure to perform, because I did that last piece literally the morning after the idea and general framework was settled. And it can't entirely be ideas I had no passion for, because... who knows what I enjoyed and didn't enjoy 5+ years after the fact?

That's about it, though. The sabbatical is over. It's time to have some fun again.

Yep I'm still here, still staying low profile. Work is being work and free time is already pre-occupied but maybe there is some time to be found to do stuff. We'll see, eh?

Well it's the 16th now. Now we can be absolutely sure it's been 10 years of being in the community.

I would have done something but it really feels like I've been Space Jam'd. Not the fun way either. Aliens have taken my drawing powers or something, can't even trace old stuff.

Well, I'm cheating a little because it just hit midnight to signal the 5th, but yeah.. 14th April. I'll have been on DA for 10 years and thus part of the community. I've changed a lot. Some things for the better, some things for the worse. Well basically 99% for the better, but that 1% is always those artistic slumps I never seemed to have in the early days.

This slump's a bad one. I've relied on being able to just put pen in hand and and work magic after months off, but it's not happening this time. Everything is off. Maybe it's time to experiment.

EDIT: Like a twat I checked afterwards and saw DA says I joined on the 16th April 2008, contradicting the date I put on my FA bio, the 14th. I guess the 14th was when I put my plans to join into fruition then? I don't exactly have my old art to see the reason behind it.

Heeey. I know I've been inactive artwise so I'm just coming here to say I'm still here. Just busy with life, trying to come up with a good idea, all of that stuff. Not much else to say. Maybe if you got something interesting for me to do tell me?

So I'm back and willing to draw. Maybe not with the same output but I'll be drawing.

I need help though - I have a shopping list and I want to do commissions to pay for it. Thing is, I don't know my price points, and that's kind of a hinderance to starting to draw things for a price. Given my gallery, what do you think I'm worth in terms of sketching, flat colours and shaded pictures?

Hey! I'm not dead. I think.

Bad news to those I haven't told already - I consider myself inactive as an artist. (Retired, at worst) You likely won't see anything from me until I feel able to draw again. I'm just burnt out, and forcing myself in those situations just doesn't help anyone.

Hey, I might pretty much be dead, but it's still going to be my birthday in 7 days. 18th July.

Drawing's rare and a chore. I have to work on that.

Does anyone struggle with picking up a pencil to even begin to try and draw something? That's what I've had to put up with for the last year or so. It's pissing me off when I know I should draw something, and sometimes I may even have ideas, but I just can't make myself even try to get the art stuff out. It's like some huge psychological barrier. Any ideas? Drawing 'circles' won't help if I can't pick up a pencil to begin with.

So I'm assuming we all know all I've been doing is putting sketches into scraps, mostly because it is not of the standard of my actual gallery (generally by not being coloured).

I have a question. Should I upload/move particular sketches to the main gallery or just keep all sketches in scraps? Particular sketches being those I believe are of high enough quality.

We're going from one personal trouble to another: My scanner stopped working somewhere during the last week, presumably due to a fault in the power cable as no matter how much I fiddle with the wires, it will not turn on.

So what does this mean? Well, I can actually still upload, but sketch line quality will be lower - You probably noticed this in the "New Year's Party" picture in my scraps - I had to take pictures from my mobile phone (I was forced to use my off-hand for even less camera stability) and manually clean the picture up in Photoshop for an hour.

I've been falling into the same trap once again. Even with the idea of sketching daily to maintain motivation, My work is starting to become infrequent once again. This is a question I have to everyone, not just artists, or writers: How do you personally stay motivated do to things?
