Why I haven't done time trials
Posted 13 years agoThe reason I haven't posted any time trials lately is because I'm struggling to come up with anything, and if there is anything, I can't think of how I should draw it. Can you guys help out with fresh ideas?

And.. well, I don't know what to expect! There's nothing I really want, and since all of my cool activities (I.E karting) are happening BEFORE my birthday,, it's just going to be another day! I suppose it's the first birthday in a while not taking place in school time, so that's something. Maybe I'll kick back on LoL or AVA. Maybe I'll draw cake related sketched all day! Who knows? I don't.
Though thinking about it, I've used my FA icon (which is also my MSN icon) for 4 years now. It's really time for a change!

Posted 13 years agoSo I noticed it was 30 days until a special day come the 18th of June. I had it in my mind for ages, but I forgot to announce it. I decided to wait the next day to say 29 days... aaaand now we're here with 25 days to go.
What is that special day, you ask of me, stomping around with agitated impatience and the desire to force a bomb down an overweight cartoon's throat. Why, it's my birthday! The 18th of July will be my 19th birthday, in the 21st century! I couldn't think the 20th of something relevant, so I had to skip that one. Yay!
In other news I'm almost out of Sixth Form at last, and I haven't been able to sketch at all in ages. x x Jeez, what is wrong with me and drawing.

Waiting literally all day for an invite to any game on League of Legends, it seems I lack a group of friends I can drop in with and have some champion slaying fun. Maybe you guys would find it interesting to play, if you don't already!

A sad reality
Posted 13 years agoSo I like to look through the galleries and favourites of people who comment and favourite my work out of interest. Perhaps there are things I have missed, artists I have not heard of, artists I would want to keep track of. It's a good thing to do. The sad reality is a few of these people remind me of the nature of my supposed genre of business. My art is collected and stored alongside some of the most viewer-exploitive work I'm aware of. The essential pornography of the field, the work the artist specifically, undoubtedly plays to what their audience 'get off' on, and they lap it up.
(This is more of an issue on DeviantART because firstly I can't see the really nasty stuff on Furaffinity and secondly.. well, I guess I expect it to be that way on FA)
Now I'm not here to show my disdain to the existence of such art, I've already shown it enough times where it was an issue. Today though, I wonder about my future. I'm not here because I 'get off' on expansion and the like, I'm here because I like to draw and expansion is a amusing topic, a part of the grand spectrum of cartoon physics. However, expansion is becoming overexposed to me. In about 40 days (Roughly, it's April 16th) it'll be the 4th year I'll of been on DeviantART and 'in the fandom.' Almost 4 years of the exact same thing everyday. Browsing expansion art, doing expansion RPs, drawing expansion art (more back then then now, no doubts there) .. we're looking at (a VERY rough) approximate of 25,000 hours of expansion related content here, from someone who has no kink or sexual interest in the matter.
Like a game you've played too much of at once, it's getting stale. I tried to remedy this by going cartoon on the 12th July 2010. Only 5 or 6 people seem to care.
I'm still being expanded left right and center in RPs, which is all fine and dandy but nobody wants to even go into the other cartoon physics. One of the reasons I was given was that "Cartoon physics would be fatal to real people" .. this is coming from a fan of enormous inflation and fattening who basically expects planetary sizes almost every RP. What the fuck, people.
(Notably I can't really complain about art in my inbox since I watched the people to begin with, and I can't and won't complain about gift art because that's just wrong)
Anyway, perhaps it is time to put my foot down. Before was a subconscious hinting, now it's rather serious. Do or die. Or rather, Do or get bored and end up further detached from the ways around here.

Pondering
Posted 14 years agoWhew, you haven't seen me do much at all! But don't worry.. I'm pushing to find time to draw whenever I can. Homework and such has to come first, though. Because.
Anyway, I've been pondering for a few hours now. Maybe I need to straighten out the 'Official Five' forms I have.
I haven't actually used Red Murkrow in ages, except for a friend or two, and Jochum (Remember him?) covers that base to begin with. I can just save the form for those friends, it doesn't need to be paraded.
Wigglytuff I suppose was a phase. While I'm not saying I hate it now or anything, you have to think.. when will I actually use it? It doesn't have to be so prominent, like Murkrow.
I'm still happy with Red Pig, but maybe it's out of place like the other two also are? Not sure.
With this I considered bringing the number of 'main forms' down to 3 - Dragon, Dodongo and a new, mystery form, one I had been introduced to and loved for a few months now; the Kobold. The later D&D edition draconian Kobolds to be precise. Would make quite a nice Reptilian trio of main forms!
(As a sort of rapid fire reference, I like the look of http://d-mac.deviantart.com/art/Kob.....roll-267177098 for a Kobold, though I'd need to find one that looks similar yet shows off the torso a -little- more)
Any thoughts on this? The supposed demotion of Murkrow and Wigglytuff? The future of the Pig? The addition of a Kobold? The Reptilian Trio of forms idea?
(EDIT: I've compared the 'demotions' to being backstage, still there but not in the spotlight. Just a better description of it)

Posted 14 years agoI think it's fair to say I've become something of a Digimon fan overnight recently, with a love for Impmon no less It's surprising, but hey, anything can happen!
Getting to the point though, I offer to those who wish to play, a link to a pre-closed beta Digimon MMORPG! They're closing up on the 6th at 1pm JST (+8:00 GMT, so it'd be 4am in the UK), but pre-CBT players are given access to the closed beta.

It came from Korea (Like most F2P MMORPGs) so the English is a bit patchy as it would be in an early release, but beyond occasional server problems, it's very playable!

This is 8 hours later then I'd usually do it, mostly because I passed out before I made it to midnight. This is the thing with laying in bed with the lights off with just a iPhone!

Art block explains itself really. Nothing looks good.
Few have already heard about my pencil issues - and now you all have when I say that I've got 37 pencils around my desk, and none of them can be used, either because of being sharpened so small they just can't be used, break until I stop because they reach that point, and others are just blunt (specifically the Pop-A-Point pencil I have might be as tall as a normal pencil but all 9 points are blunt and cannot be sharpened)
And no motivation comes from both points - I'm using already scarse supplies to only draw a minuscule fraction of something before I deem it not good enough and rub it out, essentially wasting time and usable pencils.
Usual art may have to wait for a while. Perhaps I do have a sketch or two I can colour, though.

I know it's not like me to comment on a mainstream (sorta) story but damn, this is hilarious. DeviantART being called a fetish site.
And how very fitting too. It's as good as any true porn/fetish site. If I was that kind of person, I'd go to this site with a perfectly good cover story that I'm looking at general (clean) artwork. Hell, 4/5 days you can get your daily waggle from the front page with the 8 hour most popular listings.
That part of it sucks, but I guess it is the reality. Oh well.

Posted 14 years agoSo I said there's 5 days left yesterday. It was the 27th of February. Today is the 28th, the last day of the month.
The contest was going to end on 1st March and go into a week's voting period.
So as you can see, blatant failure to remember February has less days. In light of this, the actual submission deadline will be the 4th of March. More time for you guys! .. Which you already had, but hey, now you're not going by a incorrect date.
