On DeviantART I submitted someone's work as a Daily Deviation about 4 days ago (it was accepted too, you can see my journal here http://the-fat-red-dragon.deviantar.....rnal/38087681/ ) and since then I've really been insecure about what I'm drawing. Less so here on Furaffinity, because hey, expansion is literally part of the site. But anyway.

I keep thinking that passers-by are going to show up and consider me some kind of freak for what I consistently do. Sure, I like expansion, but I'm not truly obsessed, and I don't want to be considered as such. So now I really want to focus on general cartoon stuff, don't let expansion take over my work entirely. This was meant to be the case back in July last year, but after a few, nothing else materialized, or rather not at a rate I hoped.

You guys don't mind, do you?

So I decided to make a special Christmas pic. However putting it off so late backfired as right now I can't even draw bodies. D:
There isn't much time before I go up to my nan's (late tomorrow?) and while they do have a scanner, it might be risky to draw considering there'd be less privacy.

Also recently found out I can't even DS doodle anymore. I can, but the USB stick for my microSD card in broke, so I cannot transfer files to and from a computer, or the internet at all. So I can't use that to do a Christmas special either, atleast on time anyway. It'll have to wait until I get a new USB microSD card reader.

Anyways. I'm trying my best to get something new out, festive or not. Stay tuned!

The fact I need to finish these commissions gives enough time to think over prizes.

And just to be sure, it's not started yet.

I'd say the main problem with getting motivated to draw is how long the process of drawing has become.
Even with the no-lineart shortcut it takes atleast 5 hours now. And in the recent case, an reaction was barely received.

I'm looking for ways to reduce workload but maintain high quality art. Can't do digital lineart well without a smoothed-line freehand too, so stuff that'd suit the pencil style only.

Think anyone can help? I'm considering everything.

Feel weak and sick, and I've been stuck doing homework non-stop (Well, almost)
Homework that I've barely got half through and is due in tomorrow.

I've been trying to draw for the last 76 minutes, and I got nothing of value out of it.
It's new to me. Usually a mistake can be worked around; 98% of the time the base for the first attempt is good enough.

But this time nothing worked for any ideas.

I have Photoshop again, and a nice initial place to keep my furry art (a little folder structure within the Help folder of a installed program, nobody would ever go in there)

I won't be taking requests or doing current requests for the moment - have to get back into the swing.

Well, I managed to royally screw up.
A simple single-drive system format turned into a full system wipeout. I have -nothing-
Everything is gone from the last 3 or 4 years. This includes art (I could just save the pictures onto my hard drive, but the sketches and Photoshop files are gone forever) and programs (drawing programs, games, utilities) because everything literally does mean everything.

Only just managed to get the PC to full functionality (driver-wise) 7 hours on.
Because of this sudden lack of resources, I won't be able to do proper art, or play games with everyone for a while.

DS Doodles are still possible though (I should really get doing those again)

In the meantime though.. I have to go in technical artistic hiatus.

Frustrating part is, this all happened because Firefox wouldn't work when I was going to get OC references from Furaffinity. I was literally about to draw.

Time to knock that depressing journal off the top spot.

I'm thinking of starting an art/lit contest! (IT HAS NOT STARTED)
I don't know what of just yet. Maybe involving my secondary forms, or pop-culture expansion characters.

There'd be a lot to work out, because a mere art or writing contest is unfair as it is As a picture speaks a thousand words. Lit is never as popular as art. Perhaps a vote multipler could be put on writing submissions. Or just put into two categories. I don't know.

Then there's prizes. What could I give to the winner Ooooh, it's a toughie. Atleast, in the respect of "how much" .. enough for a prize, but not enough to leave me pretty much dead at the end of drawing it all.

Any suggestions or ideas for a balanced contest.. and what it be about?

The times are good! Yesterday I went out and got a new DVD-R drive to replace my old one (it lost DVD functionality) and also picked up Sims 3 and World Adventures. Minus some kind of rare save-wrecking bug, everything is working out! And my choice of games to play have expanded since I can now run DVDs again. Perhaps I'll make some stuff on Sims 3 and share it.

My art has hit a mental block though - I really want to work on my drawing style, getting it more dynamic and making it flow better.. basically, more like old-school cartoons. (Think old decent cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Looney Toons) Been trying hard but it's not working out and it's getting me down.

But what do you guys think? Would you prefer such a thing or should I leave it be?

I hate that about expanding characters in popular media. It seems they're mostly evil or atleast against the protagonist (Mr. Patch, Dragon Jr, this dragon, some crow boss from Bomberman Hero too) and in the end they're all punctured/exploded into apparent non-existence. Pah! Can't we have GOOD or atleast helpful characters? And ones that don't just blow up, the explosive kind anyway.

Frustrating. And I think I've identified a fear for popping, atleast when it's in motion.. (Not still pictures or RP.)

Who would you consider to be the best characters with expansive intent (Made to inflate) in pop-culture?

I've got a few ideas, just wondering what you think.

- I'm looking at TV/games/comics/similar content
- It can't be a fan character
- It has to be based from official content.
- Special cases of inflation are not allowed - the character has to have a sort of inflation mechanism that is used frequently (Self or equipment) ... so a scuba gear malfunction wouldn't count unless the character always has the gear.
