Life Update
General | Posted 7 months agoImma be real I've been just living life - moving countries, going to my first convention and living life with my partner. I...haven't worked on my universe for years. And I feel shitty for that, even if no one was really expecting it, but life's come first. It's always in the back of my mind, calling to me to finish it but I just haven't. I'm not dropping the project, but I'm also not really in a place in life where I can work on it just yet either.
Over the next few weeks I'll be uploading art that I've either gotten or made, so there's that to look forward to. Stay furry!

Erewhon Update
General | Posted 4 years agoHi all! Sorry for the long break in talking about Erewhon, I've gotten a 80-hour-per-week job that's taken all of my free time as of late.
But, there's still work being done on Erewhon! For instance...
I, uhh, found out I can't use the name Erewhon anymore. Apparently that's the name of a fictional universe created in 1872...and a store. I came up with it, all on my own...only to find two other people already beat me to the punch. So, since I don't feel like getting sued, I will be rebranding, and will actually create a separate FA page for my universe, and link that page on my FA here! I look forward to revealing it as soon as it's ready!

First off, a recap of what Erewhon is:
Erewhon is a multidimensional, intergalactic science fiction and fantasy universe full of a vast array of colossal monsters, societies, deities, spirits, magickal powers, dazzling technology, factions, orders, species, cultures and anthropomorphic characters with millions of years of lore in the making. So far there are 160 pages being written in the Erewhon Wiki, and I have only begun to scratch the surface of the universe I'm writing. I've given tidbits and glimpses here, but the full universe is going to be much much more involved than the art in my FA gallery, or the lore in my telegram channel, which you can find here: https://t.me/erewhonuniverse
THE UPDATE
After further research of copyright licensing, as well as an excellent video on youtube by Uniquenameosaurus, I have decided that upon release of the Erewhon Wiki I will remove the current licensing for Erewhon (CC-BY NC SA) and shift Erewhon to the Public Domain. That's right: when the Erewhon Wiki is ready to publish, every single character, world, faction, bit of magic and scrap of technology in it will be completely free to use as you see fit, no holds barred. I won't own it. Everyone will. We're talking something the size of Star Wars or Warhammer or Dungeons and Dragons....but you will never get a copyright strike or DMCA from me for using it. Make art, stories, games, movies, whatever you like from it. I won't stop you. It's a universe for everyone in the furry fandom to explore if they so choose in the ways they see fit.
The Nitty Gritty
As the original creator of Erewhon, I'll retain creative control and ownership over the original Erewhon Wiki website I'm creating on Wikiful, just so anyone interested in my version can still have it. However, this will not mean that I am THE owner of Erewhon. Erewhon, as I write it and have it depicted, will be everyone's to use freely after I release it. If you want to take what I write on the wiki and post it somewhere else or make it your own, you will have every freedom to do so. And if you want to recreate or change Erewhon as you see fit, your version will be just as valid as mine. This won't be a case of Canon vs Legends, everyone's take on Erewhon will be just as canon as my own as a diverging or disconnected timeline.
The main reason I'll be keeping control over the original Erewhon wiki website is so it can be used as a reference for creative or legal reasons. While I really really really REALLY hope there won't be people trying to single-handedly own Erewhon all to themselves, after seeing what happened to The SCP Foundation Wiki, defining an original creator and owner is key to preserving a public domain or copyleft status in cases of fraudulent copyright claims. Remember: nobody will own Erewhon, not even me! And that's permanent! Any person, organization or company claiming that they own Erewhon as a whole after I release it to Public Domain will be lying and you can use this journal to prove it!
Also, as a side reminder: my version will only ever use open species! For one, this will keep me and anyone else using my version out of hot water, though I won't be able to offer that same promise to any version that uses copyrighted characters, species or properties. Think of it like custom characters in GTA - sure Goku and SpongeBob look cool in Los Santos, but Rockstar can't protect those from getting DMCA'd because Goku and SpongeBob weren't their IPs.
Far more importantly imo, using open species lets me showcase the creativity of the fandom and give fully credited exposure to creators and species that may have gone unnoticed. That's right, I said full credit! As a way to give back to the community that gave me so much, I'm making my version of Erewhon as a love letter to the furry fandom ^w^ That being said, if any creator of a closed species wants to give me permission to use their closed species in a public domain universe, thus rendering them an open species, feel free to reach out! :O
IMPORTANT EDIT:
Due to a friend bringing attention to this to me, my four fursonas (Nugget/ECT-487, APT-GET, Flac and Tara) will NOT be included in the public domain release. SFW and respectful art can still be freely made of them, and NSFW at my sole discretion, but they will not be included in the public domain release for ethical concerns. Likewise, any characters that are other peoples' fursonas or OCs will also not be included in the public domain release, as they do not belong to me and are acting as guest and easter egg appearances in the Erewhon multiverse. Any usage of their characters must be done with their permission, which is not mine to give.
What You Can Do To Help!
To make this dream a reality, I'm going to need your help. If you're interested in seeing Erewhon take off, please spread the word about what I'm doing and get more people interested. Writing will take time, but with enough interest and support behind it I could regularly release new Erewhon content for people who want it. And to make this project truly shine, I'm going to need to commission a lot of worldbuilding illustrations for the wiki to help visually describe the characters and creatures and planets and events in Erewhon. I'm not an artist, so all art for Erewhon is probably going to come out of pocket, unless I meet a genie in the future that grants me infinite commission money XD. I'm not going to ask for free art, as I have a specific art style I'll be incorporating into my version's wiki to help bring Erewhon to life, but if you want to help me commission art for Erewhon faster, or if you just want to keep supporting my writing, then please feel free to donate to my newly created Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/erewhon
Normally, I believe in striving to make my own goals happen myself through sheer determination, but I want Erewhon to be the absolute best it can be for everyone, and I'll be honest with you. I don't make much money, so any support you can give is deeply appreciated. That being said, you take care of you first. Don't let my dream get in the way of your needs, and don't give unless you really can truly afford to. I'm deeply grateful for anything, but I'd be mortified if you sacrificed your wellbeing for me to write about fuzzballs in space. D:

Updating My Journal
General | Posted 4 years agoHey all, quick heads up - I just updated my FA page to be easier to understand, along with granting free use of my characters in a SFW manner. This means that YES, you can put my characters in your art if you so choose to! Just be sure to link back to me and let me know ^w^
I also updated Nugget's bio to tie them into the Erewhon Universe and improve the backstory. Oh! And I added links to Flac's new solo album, Let's Go Party!

Announcement: The Erewhon Universe Wiki
General | Posted 4 years agoHello all my beautiful and wonderful furries! As of yesterday, I have begun work on creating a wiki for my furry universe, Erewhon, as it has become far too expansive to keep track of in any other format, what with dimensions, deities, star systems, characters, technologies, languages, factions, species, etc. When it's got enough content in it, I will be making it available free of charge to the public under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (which in normal speak means F2U for personal or fan use, but please credit me if you use it). I'm working very hard on bringing this to life, and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I have had when it is ready.
