Research and Development
General | Posted 4 years agoAs 2021 draws to a conclusion its time for me to finally sum up what the year has yielded in terms of progress. For all intents and purposes, it has been slow, but nevertheless I am noticing that I'm fettling into a more consistent style of art despite a lapse or two.
It has been tough this year, not to mention disorganised, scrappy and much that needs dire improvement. A lot of which has been a direct result of being a full-time worker and being a father to my one-year-old daughter which has more or less stumped my time and energy which I blame neither for, it's what life does to you.
Next year I shall be doing even less in the way of production and I shall be focusing on researching other works of art drawn by fellow artists. Take them apart, see what works and what doesn't, note their strengths and weaknesses and hopefully I can come to a more positive outcome with my progress.
I know I have what it takes to go much further, but I need to learn more, observe more, do less and look more. I know I have both the capability and the modicum to achieve my optimal potential and I shall not rest until I know I'm on the road to exploitation.
But to all those who follow me and do show me support (how few of you there are) you are invaluable to me and whilst I cannot send you all a personal message, know that I do appreciate your time, energy and your faith in my ever expanding knack.
You're all the best.

Prelude To A Commision
General | Posted 5 years agoAs I slowly improve as an artist I often question whether I should undertake future commissions. It seems to be quite a normality these days, there are many chaps out in this big world who would like a piece of art done for them for a fee.
Since becoming a father (in the fall of 2020) it's come to me that there are many things about myself that I wish to improve. For one thing, I have a car that urgently needs replacing, and whilst it is still workable and driveable, it's certainly not practical, especially when I now have a little girl taking up a significant amount of room in the thing.
The other thing is the repair and correction of my teeth, a standard British issue we all know and love! Though if you ever saw how our dental plans function you can probably understand why seeing a dentist here is such hard work. Go to the National Health Service you can be waiting for nine-months plus! Though at least the payments are easier to manage, assuming that they managed to do the job properly anyway. The second option is to go private, which is the better option especially if you wish to be seen quicker, though the prices are totally insane. I mean, as if I've got £600+ worth of income just lying around for a single root canal filling!
Whilst I am in a decently paid job, the money only just gets me by for the month after expenditures, I can't really do no more to save for anything to further better myself physically and mentally. Which is why I am seriously considering the prospect of starting out as a "Beginner Commissioner" as it were, sticking with smaller, easier to manage tasks and requests.
Within the next few months, I shall start making plans to "get these wagon wheels rolling", as my Trans-Atlantic cousins would say. Hopefully, by helping others I shall be helping myself in the process. I just hope that everyone who finds me or requests my services will give me the benefit of the doubt.
