Inspire me.

Morti wants to start up a simple webcomic and lacks the capacity, intelligence, inspiration, and motivation, to put thought into the characters she'd be using. SO! You happy people get to put forth your ideas (They *will* require concept art. Basic (Very basic) sketches, extraordinarily simple colourschemes.
I'm wanting to do a simple skit webcomic, not unlike VGCats in its manner of using several simple, well-known characters, to pull off a joke per page. Something long-running may or may not develop, in terms of a plot or anything (I suck at thinking that stuff up) so we shall see. What I ask of you guys, is to come up with my character designs.
I dont know how many I'm going to use, but for now lets just stick with the two main protagonists. For now, at least. I'm thinking along the lines of Aeris and Leo from VGCats when it comes to personalities. Two complete polar opposites, with *something* in common that makes them want to hang out together. I also think of Percival and Pooch in terms of the simplistic style and how they would get on together:
http://www.sinfest.net/archive_page.....p?comicID=1631 A link to a Percy and Pooch strip, for reference.
You can include a brief bio, in terms of name, personality, species, age, favourite things, what they do and dont like, hobbies.. etc, or you can just give me the image and I can roll with it. Yes I'll credit you as co-creator, but if you're not ok with that, then dont put anything forwards, simple as that. Plus, I'm not accepting already-created characters, no matter how much you water them down or simplify their design. If I know your proffered character has existed any time before this competition, its not getting included in the voting process. Because yes, there will be a voting process, after I narrow down to a shortlist. Unless I just love several characters the most, then its just what I want, really. ^^
I may or may not choose some designs as background characters too, but I wont just nick the design and throw it in and claim it all as my idea, I'll let you know and credit and etc, if only so you dont miss your characters cameo. ^^
It'll be an anthro webcomic, obviously, so no humans plz.
In summary! Post your ideas here, including links to sketches, and bio if you want to include one. BE AWARE that if I select your character, I'll be doing whatever I want with it, elaborations and such, and you'll be credited as co-creator. I'm just looking for designs here, people. ^^ And if you arent ok with the character being mine after this is over, then dont enter.
I'll stick a deadline on this for the end of the month to get your ideas posted here, then will close and the choosing will begin.

Fishing for response.
General | Posted 19 years agoBecause I'm a horrible person, and want to get people's opinions on whether or not my latest drrty picture is actually good or not, I'm gonna show the full and unedited version of "Struggle" to whomever comments here, on one condition:
-This is for a purpose, not just so you can see my hidden stash of nekkid arts. COMMENT and give me crits and how I can do better or whether its actually good and you like it and I dun gud. :B
*I* like it, anyway, and since I heard in the past that my talent for drawing man-bits left a lot to be desired... eh, I just think I've come on nicely in that department.
So, yeah, comment. See the picture. COMMENT BACK, BITCHES.

Randomity.
General | Posted 19 years agoOne thing I like about this place is how, practically every day I log on and check my messages, there's always a good amount of art to look at. The people here seem very creative, even when its just doodles, developments, OC sessions, let alone the fully completed, polished and sparkly works of art. Compared to somewhere like Deviantart, where practically every artist I have watched is "on Hiatus" or "busy with RL stuff" or "artblocked"....
I guess this is just a journal of appreciation, for everyone who keeps their creative juices flowing, even myself who feels the need to post practically everything I do now.... Gah.
Anyway... I still dont have a scanner, and thus the traditional art level has gone down to be replaced by digital. Which is good in some respects as I think I've really developed in certain areas, my skill with a tablet for example, much more control over the line from the pen, and so on. I'd *like* to upload traditional media works, but I dont actually have all that much to upload. Perhaps tonight I'll get the markers out and have a bash at something.
I'd like to plug the commissions again, but I really dont see much point anymore.

Things.
General | Posted 19 years agoFirstly: Badge commissions are still open. I have my sources for a Dymo machine, and will only invest in one if I actually get commissioned. -.- Also lowering the prices to £5 each. Five Pounds Sterling. Each. Plus shipping, of course, but its still only around $10 per badge, including badgeclip and lamination.
Secondly: Anyone who gets my 1000th pageview and can prove it, gets free Morti art of their choosing. I actually got my own 3k pageview over on DA the other day, which was amusing yet horribly sad at the same time.... bleh.

Badge Commissions.
General | Posted 19 years agoI think, since I'd really like to do some of these, that I'll open up badge commissions on here as well as over on the Jack webcomic forum.
I'd like to think my prices are dirt-cheap, having been told I under-charge, but I honestly dont feel my art is worth money, let at all lots of it. Lets just get with the details shall we?
Typical Badge:
-They'll mostly vary slightly, depending on what is on the badge, but they'll be small enough to fit comfortably on an outstretched hand.
-Featuring a single character of your choice, doing whatever it is that they do (Bearing in mind that this is a badge, therefore no backgrounds, and keep your props small and simple!) The badge will also probably only be big enough to fit a character from the waist up, unless you want a cute, chibi style, or just a far more detailed headshot. Quality will fit the price, ladies and gentlemen!
- The name of said character will be printed onto a strip of 9mm-wide tape, via an embossed label-making Dymo machine. The name may not stand-out that much from a distance, but I personally think it'll work, looking old-skool and unique, providing I can pin down one of these machines.
- The badges, I presume, will be mostly rectangular, with the name-label running across the bottom if short, or vertically down one side, if long. Other positions are ok, of course, but those're probably where they'll go if you dont specify. ^.^
- I can do both digital and traditional badges. Traditional would most likely be the route I want to go with this, considering the way I want to attatch the names, but I can do digital and add digital text if you choose. Traditional media would be markers or coloured pencil, depending on your preference and pricelist, as markers take more time and effort, plus they cost more for me to buy!
- I would LOVE to ship these out to people, regardless of where they live, so long as they're happy with the postage charges, and will have them laminated and hole-punched, PLUS now I have some badge clips, I can throw in one of those too. ^^.
- Prices will be focused mainly in the £7-10 area, which is Pounds Sterling, for anyone not-British, and postage will be worked out and added to the costs. Altogether, I dont see these getting much higher than £15 in total. Monies will only be accepted through Paypal, as its by far the easiest way to go, and payment will be in advance, although if you aren't happy with the finished work, I'll gladly give ya a full refund.
Let me know if you're interested! Note me if you want one! GOGO!

Ideas above their station...
General | Posted 19 years agoHah.
So I've just been told by an asshat in some chatroom I frequent that all my stuff looks the same. She then proceeded to give me tips.
Not meaning to sound bigheaded, I *hardly* consider myself part of the "Artist Elite" but, in the hierarchy of the art world, I refuse to take advice from her. Like it or not, there are people who are better than others. I can think of billions better than me, many who I take great inspiration from, who's work has awesomeness levels I can only dream of replicating with my own. But this kid is leagues behind. I wouldn't go up to someone and tell them how they could improve their work. I make a point to pick out things I *Like* about pictures when commenting on them. I'm goofy that way. I can take crits, but I cant give them, because I feel mean and like I'm telling the artist that they suck at this and somehow my advice will make them better at what they do, and that I think I'm better than them... But I'm just silly.
Not to mention she just enjoys stirring shit with whoever she isnt best bosom buddies with. She's already pissed off a friend of mine today with offhand comments and pointless asshattery.
AARRGH. I frustrate easy enough without some dink with issues helping it along.

Grumble.
General | Posted 19 years agoI really wish I had a scanner that worked. -.-
Um.. so.. yeah.
General | Posted 19 years agoGetting new markers for Christmas. Usually I'm not one to look forward to getting presents, they're nice and stuff, but OHGODMARKERS.
I'd like to hopefully one day maybe possibly thinking about opening up markered commissions. But, they'd be expensive.. hours of work go into those beasts, and they EAT MY 1.99 MARKERS like shit.
Thankfully I'm getting more greens, purples.. colours that I dont have, so I dont have to use the shitty Deleter markers anymore. 15 a set, and they are CRAPTASTIC except for the blender which I use because its got brush tip and its handy.. I do have a ProMarker blender.. havent used it yet.. but at least I know its there for when my Deleter one runs out.
LESS RAMBLING ABOUT MARKERS MORTI! Ok.

General | Posted 19 years agoOk well I fail at keeping this gallery trade/commission only, oh well. At least the only character artwork I'll put up here will deal with characters I would like people to draw for me in their half of art-trades. I expect to put up a lot more Karasu in the near future as well as I just found some old but adorable sketches of him in an old notebook. Finding old art which is still reasonably good is great.
Also, I have an LJ which is where a whole bunch of random shit will be posted, mostly ramblings and etc, but a lot of really odd, obscure, random or just plain crappy art will end up. The address is up on my website thingy in my profile doohickey. ADD ME LOL I NEED FRIENDZ!! :B
..Kidding.

Gallery.
General | Posted 19 years agoDecided to only keep art trades and commissions here, since I've decided to make my art kinda more personal, instead of whoring it off around the web for all to see. Heh... So, yeah, everything in my gallery now is stuff I've done for other people, whether its gifts, trades, or commissions.
25 journals skipped
