Commissions Open ~ Finding my Rhythm
Posted 2 months agoHey everyone,
I’m opening commissions again while I’m in a time of transition. Art has always been one of the most grounding things in my life, and I’m hoping to rely on it more right now while I’m between jobs.
If you’ve been thinking of getting a commission, now’s a really helpful time. Even sharing or boosting this post is incredibly appreciated. There's honestly a bit of anxiety in not having regular work. It's always been my dream to be able to sustain myself on my art alone, but I've never tested that out until now. Even then, I'm still job hunting, priority one is making my ends meet.
Pricing is something I'm still figuring out, and I was hoping to work that out with my clients.
Some examples I have done are listed below, and the in-app time where I had the canvas open:

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/57773223/.............42h, 18m (this is for all 4 pics in the file, divide by 4 its something like 10h, 35m)
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54523586/.............12h, 34m

I feel like I do better with a direction, something that someone WANTS. Knowing I'm working on a pose or an idea that gets someone excited helps out a lot with my efficiency. I'm also showing pics where I felt I was at my flowstate, where I didn't struggle with self criticism throughout major parts of the piece and had to redesign it behind the scenes. I don't think its fair to charge for that. Obviously, if you don't want something as shaded, let me know, and give me a cutoff point. I have this habit of trying to put everything I can into each piece, and I don't feel like its done until either I'm satisfied with it, or if I poke it more it will bring the quality down. I understand how not everyone has disposable income, and if you decide to take on me as an artist, above all else, I want to feel like I've earned that money honestly. Being home all day has lent me the opportunity to work my creative side more, and I feel like it's really starting to bloom.
I've been doing art for almost 20 years, and I haven't really gotten out of the $100-200 range, and I'm unable to judge that for myself. So, in the interest of someplace on where to start, if you want to pay me anything over $150 for one character (+$50 per extra character, +$25 for more detailed backgrounds), I'll give you a digital painting that I feel is the best way I can represent your idea. If you want to pay a little less, and you're okay with simpler shading, or even flat colors, talk to me. Link me something I've already done, and ask me what I would want to do your idea at that picture's level of detail.
I've also got a telegram channel where I post stuff faster on than FA, so if you want examples there too, I'm happy to be reached via telegram @theburdbard

Thank you for reading. Even if you’re not commissioning right now, sharing this helps me more than you know. It’s tough putting myself out there — I’ve spent a long time both being told and believing I wasn’t good enough, and trying to market myself still feels like pulling teeth. But deep down… I really believe I can do this. I just need the chance to prove it — to myself, and maybe to you too. :>

New Friends, Old Friends
Posted 2 years agoI woke up today and nearly cried :>
Between yesterday and now, seeing a 50% increase in watchers is... I'm beyond words <3 <3 <3 <3
I want to do something to say thank you, so please, tell me, what kind of content would you like me to make?
Breaking 50 followers is certainly cause to say my gratitude, and I want to engage more with you all then I have before in the past!
thank you thank you thank you again!

Quote to match another journal
Posted 2 years agoTo those of you that came from the old old account, this is just a paste of that quote.
'For most of you, I believe there is peace and perhaps, warm.
Waiting for you after the smoke clears.
Although, for one of you.
The darkest pit of Hell has opened to swallow you whole.
So, don't keep the Devil waiting, old friend.'
So you know you are in the right place. To everyone else, funny jumpscare bear game :D

Settling Into New Accounts
Posted 2 years agoSo, my original FA is almost old enough to vote, but for personal reasons, I am not ready to look at that name anymore. It's been a struggle to sort through, but I'm trying to get back onto my feet.
I decided the best way to do that is to make an account that is removed from personal memories, so I can try to ply my trade of drawing for a living. Ever since I was young, it was the only thing I felt like I wanted to do, but never had an opportunity to do it. The most I can do is try, so here we go~
