Hot take
General | Posted 2 years agoI think artist should help other artist out more. Not in the "Follow Xbunny69, they have nice art!" kinda way. Just providing helpful infofrmation and tips that they stumbled upon that make art easier for them, since it might help someone else imnesly.
I've seen it too often where artist will stomp out, and witch hunt people who dare have a similar style, or try drawing a similar thing, just to protect their very neiche thing. Was VERY bad on DA a few years ago, regarding Chibi style, and people throwing hands over who stole who's art/traced.
I have solid art friends, and we share info, and WIPS, and generally help each other when we can. I don't provide much, but it is still helpful to have a second set of eyes to potentially catch something you messed up on, or might have forgotten cough cough mixing up characters, and having to redraw everything couugh cough
Artist should lift each other up, not strike one another down. (that includes you AI artist...) Everyone should just help everyone to improve.

Being real, for a second
General | Posted 2 years agoWARNING: this is a rant post, and this shit is going to get depressing, real fucking quick. I'd highly advise not reading if you are not in a proper mental state, thank you for understanding, thanks for clicking thoAs you have read above, this is a bit of a depressing rant. i don't know how long it'll be, and i don't know where this will go. Sorry.
Sometimes i feel like trying to make art is just a pointless endeavor. Giving your all, just for it to not matter in the end. trying to make friends, and show kindness to big artist, and getting swept under the run for being a clout chasing cockroach in their precious domain of art and fans. It really just hurts. I want to draw other peoples characters, cause i want to explore other peoples ideas, and creations, even gaining a small bond with the owner of said sona over time. i love it. i love being friends with people. But when people get past a cerian point in growth, they just kinda stop being friendly to anyone. everyone is just out to ride their success, get big off of them, and their characters.
I am owed nothing, and i do what i do because i love it. but when wanting to do that thing makes me feel like a parasite, trying to leach off of someone else, it makes me not want to ask artist for permision to draw their characters. it makes me nervous that i will be blocked, and astracised by them and everyone else just cause i wanted to say hi, and just ask for permision to do something nice out of the kindness of my heart. As much as i do want to get big, and be popular, I would rather show kindness to someone, and let them know how much they mean to me, and maybe give them a gift.
When wanting to be nice can be construde and twisted into "Leaching" off someone else. it just blows. I understand artist are busy, and some don't have time for small fry who won't benefit them monetarily, or help them reach more people; but when i see large, multi thousand follower artist treating people who look up to them like trash, people who might be supporting them through patron or Kofi, getting lumped in with the reast of the people they consider filth. i get mad.
I'm not the biggest, or greatest artist, and i don't think i will be fore a long time. but seeing how people are, and how they treat others makes me really question what i want. i'm torn between wanting to be a true artist, who just draws and makes people happy, getting paid to make wonderful creations for everyone, and just being a nameless husk on the internet that no one even knows, and never recognizes.
I've had countless people tell me my style is "unique", and that i'm "skilled"(probly not the right word they used, but eh), But i just can't bring myself to feel like i've done a great job when the arts i LOVE, and think i've given my all, are just swept under the rug, and brushed off. And i'm not even allowed to be mad. the world's moved on. if i scream at the wall, break things, cry, the world dosen't care. time marches onwards. it'll be forgotten.
How sad, to have something you love, waste away so effortlessly, forgotten in moments.
It is greedy to want more, as i am just glad i got anything at all. I don't deserve more, but i still would like more.
I don't want to feel like a parasite sucking on someone elses fame every other day. I don't wanna be shooed away for just wanting to ask permision and be polite before i draw someone elses character. I refuse to stand in the shadow of a giant who abuses the people who built them. But what can i do?
No one cares unless you draw porn, have had a popular artist do work of your character, or got lucky, and graced by the algorithm.
I sometimes want to just delete my account, and start over. Bursting onto the scene as this "new talented artist who just came out of nowhere!" but i won't. i'll just cry about it, and watch the world burn.
I'm happy to have made the friends i have thus far. And i treasure the few who request art form me. I don't want pitty. i don't need to be told "everything is alright".
I just want to feel like i'm actually worth the worlds time. even for a second, i'd like to matter. But the clock is broken. It's not time yet. it'll never be time. I refuse to leach off other peoples fame. I just want to spread joy.
If anything, I want you, the person who read this, to spread joy to others who matter; Not me, People in your actual lives, people who need to be touched by lights. Show them joy on my behalf.

Binge drawing, send Oc's (free art request)
General | Posted 3 years agoI'm going to be binge drawing art today and tomarrow to get a backlog of art to post periodically. For small breaks from the main art, we'd like to draw sketches on the side, to shake things up.
Please feel free to send us a reference sheet(or a highly detailed art) aswell as maybe a small idea suggestion of what could be drawn for them (nsfw is fine, no garentees though). Feel free to share this elsewhere, we wanna see all the lovely oc's.
We'd love to see your OC's and perhaps make some art of them. I occasionally turn them into full digital artworks, so there is that .w.
Have a good day!

looking for OC to draw with Destiny (NSFW art)
General | Posted 3 years agoHi!
I was hoping someone would be willing to let me use their OC to practice this pose, mainly pressed against a wall/glass by Destiny. Male, female, anything inbetween, (almost) any species, just really want to draw a different character, and get practice in at the same time ;w; If you wouldn't mind, i'd greatly appriciate being able to use an OC that isn't mine, or a random creation never to be seen again.
if you wouldn't mind having your OC drawn wedged between a wall and a big rat butt, please feel free to let me know in either notes, messages, the comments, or even through twitter's messages/comments. if you want to remain anonomous(aka, not shouted out, or tagged) you are more than welcome to let me know, and we can work with that.
It is very rare that i draw NSFW, and it isn't offten i accept request these days, But i would be very greatful if anyone would allow me to draw their OC in the linked pose
I know i'm not the biggest artist, so i don't expect people to jump at the idea, since, i kinda have no influince in the community, but can't hurt to ask, Regardless, HAVE A GOOD DAY!

New OC, need a last name! Help!
General | Posted 3 years agoNew oc has been planned and designed. She has a first name, All we need now is a Last name.
She is 50% cute, smoll, huggable and mini, 50% " is this legal or are you just gonna do it anyways" and 10% furry bait.
110% loveable(assuming you like hugging things, or smoll things, or furry bait.)
Suggestions? :3

Moving away from NSFW
General | Posted 4 years agoI'm going to be slowly moving away from NSFW themes in the next year. While it i have nothing against it, I'd rather draw what i feel like drawing, instead of just making graphic art that will lure people in.
Sorry if you came here expecting Purely NSFW art. It will crop up occasionally if things present themselves/i feel like it's interesting enough, But it isn't going to be a reoccurring theme.
My main goal is cute art, funny panels of art, Fulfilling request, And working on my comics(witch i've scrapped like 5 times already)
Sorry, hope you can still enjoy the show!

Art milestones: Let's level up!
General | Posted 4 years agoI am fairly new to art, and would like to eventually do commission work. So, I've made a few milestones for myself before i even open up to paid work.1. Complete 50 request from other users, as if they were paid commissions2. Complete all request in a timely manner(yea... falling off the face of the earth for months sucks...)3. Be comfortable with drawing others characters from refs/and in different poses. Each request completed to satisfactory is 1 EXP! Current exp: 15 Current level: Amiture artist0 request: New Artist10 request: Amiture artist30 request: novice artist50 request: competent artist80 request: Proficient artist100 request: , Proper artist 125 request: Good artist150 request: Decent artist300 request: Artist1000 request: Experienced at artThis is just a personal goal list for me, You shouldn't rank yourself based on how much you do. I just need to have a goal to work to. I really love doing request, and i don't want to ever paywall people who cant' afford them. I'll do my best untill i feel like i'm worth being paid. Untill then, Send me request! :P
Things i need to improve upon as an artist
General | Posted 4 years agothis is a list of areas where i need to improve my self in making art, and things i will be working on periodicly till i can do them more efficiantly.
1. Managing my mental health:
Getting sick is not good for health, and neither is forgetting to eat :P.
2. Steping away from solely black outlines:
Moving away from solid black outlines should be the main priority, followed by usuing verying thicknesses of lines, aswell as colourings to add more life to art.
3. Practicing using the graphics tablet:
Using the graphics tablet would eliminate my use of paper, and allow me to create more varried peices, aswell as add details more smoothly.
4. working on one peice at a time:
Instead of working on 2 or 3 peices at a time, we should focus mainly on one peice, and soly that one peice, so we don't squander our efforts trying to complete multiple peiced at once.
5. Draw things i like more, than just drawing what others might like(with in reason):
We should figure out what we want to create, rather than chasing trends, or being a generalist. This would help narrow our gallary into a set area of work, or a few neiches that would help people find what they like. (anxiety dosen't help this one.)
6. improved shading, and more diverce lightings:
As it stands currently, we are very limited in how we chose to do lighting, mainly opting for a cheap stratagy that, while provides decent results, is not entirely what we should focus on doing. same for highlights. using highlighs in excess is detramental to everything.
7. Find our style:
I like flat peices of art better, but everything just seems to imply that it is not good to look at compaired to peices that are maticulously crafted, and seem painted. It would be nice to find our own style, but that's kinda hard, given we aren't expirianced enough, and constantly try living up to the expectations other artist have set before us. We arn't high tier art, and we arn't low teir enough to inerest people who might want to watch an artist improve, so we're kinda stuck in the middle.
8. become someone who people would want to commision.
it would be awsome to reach this goal.
9. be more posotive!
While grim stories and horrific artwork are nice to some people, sometimes, you just want to see something cute, and uplifting. we should try being more posotive.
10.create backgrounds, and potentially let others use them if they want to/create an asset bag we can pull from
Creating backgrounds and the like would be priority, but it would still benefit from having a proper back of assets i could grab from and implant into a peice if i needed something specific, like leave patterns, or a set of trees i can use as a base tree, to construct a new tree, rather than each tree being created each time. it's just an idea, but it would be interesting,
11.Be happy with ourselves, and our art:
If goal 11 can't be obtained, why even continue?
Lets hope we can improve, or die trying.
