Monsterous Art
Posted 17 years agoWell, been a while since I wrote one of these, but here's something hopefuly new.
If anyone has been bothering to read these, you might know that for a while now I've been hacking away at a rulebook for a table-top game I thought up called Nightmare Creations. Well, it's getting down to the last pages and it's looking as if I might actualy finish this. Ofcorse, there's still one thing that bothers me. I have no art for it, and little money to buy comissions to illustrate it with. If you've been watching my gallery, you'll of seen the monsters I've been working on in Second Life. I've been makeing these with the idea of useing them to make some illustrations for the book, mostly for the cutout mini section idea I had. But still these cant replace the look and feel of actual artwork.
I guess what Im hopeing for is some new artists hopeing to get their work out there or some generous artists that like my ideas. Just whatever so I can get some pictures for my book. Anyone that does help me with this will ofcorse get full credit in the credits page, and I'd even be willing to include web addresses or contact information for the artists. And before someone tells me to go looking for some clipart or public domain pictures, I've already looked and there isnt much out there that I can use. It's mostly either artwork of people fighting monsters, which I do not want, or realy 'artistic' pictures that dont illustrate well the feel I want for my game.
Pretty much, aside from a couple of guidlines, anyone willing to help out can draw basicly whatever they want. It just needs to be midevilish monsters, the more freaky the better. Needs to be graphic but clean (violence is ok, but no naughty bits you cant show on basic cable). And no people fighting the monsters, any humans (elves, dwarves, whatever) would likely be food or slaves or something similar.
So, anyone got any ideas or willing to help out?

Christian-nazi website
Posted 17 years agoNot actual Nazis, but they're acting like them apparently. Anyone that knows about Wallaroo Blacke probably already knows this, but I'd like to try and let more people know. Apparently he has a webcomic of his hosted on http://www.taur.net/~ottercomics/ and it is a christian-run website with certian rules all hosted comics are expected to follow. Now, that's nothing new, there's alot of websites like that, christian and not.
But here's where things turn sour. Apparently they have threatened to take down Wallaroo's comic. The comic itself has not violated any of their rules, infact, it's a pretty tame comic. The reason they threatened him is that he has posted artwork on OTHER web sites that do not follow their rules. You heard right. Apparently they expect him to follow all of THEIR rules in EVERYTHING he does. So, for fear of looseing his comic, Wallaroo has removed all art that he has posted that doesnt follow their rules.
I'd like to think that Im a good friend of his, and honestly hearing about this has me about ready to knock on this guy's door with a large sharp object in hand. To try and force someone else to follow your own twisted sense of morality in all things smacks of egotism, god-complex, and down-right meglomania. What someone posts to one website has nothing to do with what they do on a diffirent website. This guy, that goes by the name or Oren Otter, is just trying to force his controll over the people that have comics hosted on his website, and he's stepping way over his bounds. I would ask that people post to the forums there and give him a peice of your minds, but more than likely this guy would just delete the posts before anyone reads them and starts thinking for themselves. I will ask that if you can, let Wallaroo know what you think and hopefuly that he should tell this Oren Otter guy to go fuck himself.
I know Im starting to rant here, but I love art, in almost all of it's forms. I believe that art, while viewed publicly, is a personal thing as well. A person puts part of themselves in everything they create, be it drawing, music, sculpting, or anything else that involves skill and craftsmanship. And while I agree that it is the right of a website's owner to have control over what is posted to his site, that control in no way extends beyond that website in any form or fashion, and to try to reach beyond those boundries is an act of pure egotism and meglomania. For the most part, people do art to please themselves first and others second. If no one enjoyed drawing, then there wouldnt be sites like FA, honestly. Im pretty sure there's artwork on here that FA's owner does not like, but he hasnt made any attempts to remove it or to force an artist to remove all artwork everywhere that he doesnt agree with. This Oren guy is obviously trying to force others to conform to his ideals, which is frankly insane.
Please, let Wallaroo Blacke know that he doesnt have to stand for this, and that he's more than welcome here.
Thank you.

Countdown to destruc- er, I mean Christmas
Posted 17 years agoIt's getting closer like that cartoon steamroller. Which spells crushed expectations, visit from irritating family members, and my game isnt much closer to getting done.
On the good side, a friend of mine asked me to house sit for him over the holiday, so I'll atleast be able to get away from my sister for a while. Trust me, if you knew her, spending christmas away from home would be a small price to pay.
Anyway, most of the rules for my game are done. I mostly just need to go over the ability lists, tweek a few of them, put them in order and add them to the file. Then anything else I can think of to bulk up the text. Still not sure what Im gonna do about illustrations, but I guess I'll burn that bridge as I come to it.

Tank Contest!
Posted 18 years agoWell, not a contest of tanks, but a contest with tanks for prizes! If anyone's been watching my gallery, you'll of seen the tanks I've been working on in Second Life. Well, firstly they're finaly done and released for sale.
Secondly, I've started a contest! To promote the new tanks and since the holidays are creeping up, I've announced my first ever SL Conversion Contest. Rules are simple. Just take one of the Space Marine armor sets for sale at one of my in game vendors, and go buck wild on it. Convert it however you want. Then just send me a few screenshots of it along with a notecard with your name and such in it, and you're entered! Once the deadline hits, which is the 24th of November, me and some friends will go through the entries and pick the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Grand prize is one of every tank I currently sell. 2nd and 3rd place each get one tank.
You can find the full details and rules at my vendors in NorthStar and Meeting Island in SL.
On another note, Im currently trying to get my game's rule book atleast written fully by the end of this year, though Im still needing a way to illustrate it. More on that later though.

Ever wanted to kill someone?
Posted 18 years agoWell, about right now that's how I feel.
Ok, long story here
Im a BIG Warhammer 40K fan, if you havent noticed. Im talking realy fanatic. You couldnt pay me to be more crazy about it. Well, maybe you could, but not by very damned much! About a year and a half ago, give or take a few months, I ran into some guys on Second Life that were starting up a Warhammer 40K area in the game. I didnt know much about building at the time, but I was crazy about 40K, as I said before, and I wanted to help anyway I could. So, I worked my ass of and got real good at building. And I went on a major building bender. Well, it wasnt long before the guy that started it all, Mambazo Mochi, got into an arguement with the guy who's friend owned the land we were useing, Logen Fasching. Well, Mambazo got so tired of argueing with Logen he just left everything, and Logen decided that he was going to take over the group. Well, things went on ok after that, but as time went on we noticed more and more that Logen didnt know what he was doing. He was hard to understand at best, and made alot of questionable decissions, going further and further from the game's theme, and excluding the other group members from plans, even going as far as excluding his friend who's land we were useing and not paying him for the use of the land. After stealing from other people, scamming money from donators with a fund to buy an island, and not paying the build team, myself and most of the other builders at the time washed our hands of Logen.
I went on into buisness for myself building and selling other items and Logen managed to get other people to come in and build for him while floating from one plot of land to the next, getting evicted after the current landlord got tired of him like the rest of us.
So, after an entire YEAR of not working on or selling any Warhammer 40K related items, I decided to start work on my own line of products, on my own with some help from a few friends. It wasnt long after that that Logen started telling people that I had stolen my armor and weapons from him. So, to put an end to him spreading lies, I put out a notecard giver that explains everything that had happened between me and him. So now Logen is trying to get me banned just to keep me from cutting into his buisness. He has already had one of my booths closed down and is threatening to get all of my stores closed unless I agree not to sell any Warhammer related items, 40K or Fantasy. He claims that I entered into a 'verbal contract' with him saying that I 'wouldnt sell any Warhammer items anymore'. It's all a case of his selective memory at work again and a personal vendeta against me.
So Logen Fasching has had his friend, Ethan Pow, who happens to be the Admin of Furnation Mall return my vendors, withhold my payed rent, and ban me from the group and land. So yeah, it's all just a personal vendeta Logen and his Lost Faith Inc has against me cutting into his profits.
Yeah, some people realy do deserve to get shot -_-

B for boom or B for birth?
Posted 18 years agoAnother year another.... year. Yup, that time of year again. Unfortunatly, unlike most others no fireworks on my birthday this time. Lack of rain has made the whole area a fire hazard, so we're going to have to forgo them this time. Oh well. Just me getting older little by little I guess.
Welcome to my Nightmare! Mwuhahaha!
Posted 18 years agoUm, yeah. So, friend of mine on SL was sending me links to the minis for the Starship Troopers game and I started pokeing around the website and low and behold, I come across where they are publishing for people! Apparently if you have a wargame idea and can put your rules and stuff into PDF format, you can let them sell your game for you online. They take a cut, but who cares! I happen to have rules I've been kicking around for a while, and this might be my chance to get it published.
Doing this, however, requires two things. Me getting off my tail, finishing the 2nd draft of the rules, playtesting, and getting it all into a PDF, which is the easy part. The hard part is finding art. I suck at anything involveing ink and paper, and dont even talk about an electronic alternitive. I got no money for comissions either. So that means Im stuck asking for handouts -_-
I got some art a few friends have sent me, but it's not as much as I'd like. If I just limit the artwork to just a picture between each chapter I'll probably still be short, and I'd like some illustrations on atleast some of the other pages. So I guess I'd like to see if anyone would be interested, if anyone's reading this. It probably wont be for a while though before I need them, atleast a couple weeks.
