AZFurs Spring BBQ Photos
Posted 8 years agoHi all,
Thanks for helping to make Saturday's BBQ potluck event a success! All told, we had roughly 35 fursuiters and 110+ attendees at Saturday's BBQ. I hope everyone had a great time and came away with good memories from our event.
Here is the event photos gallery with shots from yesterday. Feel free to sure with friends and family, however please do not use these photos for commercial use or remove the watermarks.

Another future event is still in the planning stages and I expect an indoors meets to be held within the next two months. IF anyone has suggestions on meet ideas or venues, feel free to send them to me.
Once an event is chosen, it will be cross-posted over the
az-furs page.
Thanks,

This just in!
Posted 8 years agoHi all,
All of the weekly installments for Issue #1 have finally been posted online, so to celebrate I'm going to start on some new comics!
Speaking of big projects, Issue #2 is in pre-production and it might be some time before that sees the light of day. I'm going to take my time on it, and would like to share the story when it is all finished. It seems to be a lot easier to follow the story that way without getting lost.
In the meantime, I'm thinking about changing things up a bit with my webcomic to bring in some more laughs with a new format. Every Wednesday, starting next week, you'll see a new comic panel that tells a story or joke all in one page! I'll also be changing up the format to be more mobile friendly so my readers with their fancy-schmancy cell phone device things don't have to turn their device ninety degrees to read it. Whoa! Its the future!
In addition to that, there are some planned enhancements to the website planned for late this summer to make the experience more mobile friendly with less scrolling for users across the board. I'll let ya'll know more about that once those changes are in. I think you'll like the new layout!

Pick a date for the next BBQ event
Posted 9 years agoHi all,
I'm thinking about organizing another BBQ event over at Margaret T. Hance Park near downtown Phoenix. To give everyone enough time to plan to attend this event, I'd like to do something within the next month before it gets too hot. Here are a few dates.
Saturday, March 18th
Saturday, March 25th
Saturday, April 1st
Let me know which one works best and I'll call to reserve a ramada this week.
Thanks!

Future comic direction
Posted 9 years agoHi all,
With all of the recent events going on, I have come to the realization that my comic is hitting a bit too close to home for some folks, especially with the political references. In the nine years that I’ve been drawing art and comics in this community, I have never seen such a level of angst among my artist friends. Unfortunately, this looks set to intensify. That has led me to sit down and really think about the subject matter and the future of my comic.
For many of the private conversations I’ve had with folks, it seems to be an even split. Some folks love the satire – other folks absolutely hate it because the satire hits way too close to home and comes across as a dark reminder of current events. The South Park formula isn’t for everyone and I realize that.
One consistent thing I have been hearing is that each day, the news feeds continually get more grim with one dark revelation after another. This led me to this question. When there is darkness, what do people seek?
They seek the light.
I’m considering a change in direction for the comic. Once I post up the last two weeks worth of panels for my proof of concept issue, the plan is to change the web-comic formula a bit from a story line based comic to a slice of life approach where I’ll focus on humor, fun characters and the bizarre things that our cigar smoking, former superhero with a hangover runs into everyday. I really want the comic to be something that readers enjoy.
For the print run comic series itself, I’d like to concentrate on my cold war origin story instead. There’s a lot more humor involved and its a fun, exciting, fresh story. I even have a script set aside.
I welcome anyone to chime in with ideas about what you think of the comic and where you would like to see it go. You can view the webcomic at www.captainfreeagle.com
Thanks for reading and I look forward to your feedback!

Gallery Cleanup
Posted 9 years agoHi everyone,
In an effort to keep my gallery clutter-free, I've done some cleanup and have moved a majority of the Captain Freeagle comics over to the scraps section along with a few other older submissions. If you're looking for older art that isn't in the gallery, it is likely in the scraps section.

Deer Fursuit
Posted 9 years agoI have decided to part ways with my digitgrade deer fursuit which has been worn less than ten times during the entire time I owned the suit. (Two conventions and two local meets.)
The full auction details can be seen here:
https://www.thedealersden.com/listi.....-extras/124783
Asking price is $1049 for a full suit, refurbished head from Lobitaworks, Techkewl phase change cool vest, carbon fiber hooves, hand-paws with sewn in leather paws, a belt loop tail and a green bandanna. The head includes a fan built into the muzzle and the bodysuit includes removable digitgrade padding as well as a front facing, hidden zipper.
For any buyers in Arizona, I would be happy to waive shipping fees for a local pickup.
If you have any questions, let me know and I will be happy to answer them for you.

Future art direction
Posted 9 years ago2016 has been an interesting year filled with massive projects across the board and the efforts to put together a Concept Art book, Photo Gallery Retrospective and Captain Freeagle Issue #1 were worth the time and effort. Moving forward to 2017, I want to take a different approach to creating new content so the process is more enjoyable and fun.
First off, I'd like to create more anthropomorphic artwork and character concepts using my lineless style. They seem to be really popular on Reddit and the unique look will set my style apart from the other content out there.
Captain Freeagle Issue #2 is going to take a back seat in development for now. I want to take a break and concentrate on creating concept panels and building up my community before I set up the KickStarter campaign. I have a feeling that there isn't quite enough community yet for a launch, so more page concepts and character studies as well as a script are needed prior to launch to improve engagement and spike interest in the concept. My proof of concept is done - now I just need content to really sell Issue #2 and motivate folks to make their pledge toward the fundraising goal.
The Captain Freeagle webcomic is going to transition over to more of a humor format for now as opposed to a story format with comics going back to a one per week rotation. This will allow me to draw more characters and throw out more jokes and puns as well as run satire on current events. I have many pages of jokes and content ready to be drawn out that have been written down for years. Once enough panels created, I intend to make a graphic novel in the style of a Calvin & Hobbes book. Some comics will be full page while others will be strip format. The end goal is an 8x10 book similar to The Art of Captain Freeagle, published via a POD distributor such as Blurb.
I look forward to more successful projects in 2017 and with the launch of a home studio, I expect to create more quality content without the intense, imposing deadlines over my head such as Election 2016. For those with character ideas, concepts and feedback, let me know. I want to keep art and creativity a central focus next year and continue to put out great content.

Thanks to everyone who provided me art feedback, direction and creative ideas this year. It has been a blast creating original content including several printed books and an online web-comic to share with everyone and I look forward to a successful 2017 full of fun surprises and concepts.
Also, a big thanks to the AZ Furs community for pulling together so many fun and exciting events. I'm hoping to have more time next year to pay it forward and set up a few events of my own to bring local furs together. all the moments of joy and creativity make the events and community so worth it!

Captain Freeagle Issue #1 is here!
Posted 9 years agoHi everyone, Captain Freeagle, here!
After eight months of development, Captain Freeagle Issue #1 is now available for order and copies are standing by, waiting to be deployed for action!
The first issue is called 'Deplorables at Trunk Tower' and tells the story of an angry republican elephant and a scheming democratic chipunk as they both seek to ascend to the presidency and ensure my demise with their ridiculous, over-the-top plans. While I don't want to spoil the fun, I'm still trying to figure out how all of this came together...
Captain Freeagle issue #1 is best enjoyed with a nice cold beer or whiskey and a fresh cigar! Enjoy all 28 pages of this standard size comic book in full, glorious All-American color! Its safe for work too, I promise!
Interested? Check out my order link at IndyPlanet and support America today!
http://www.indyplanet.us/product/145242/
Comments or feedback? Let me know and I'll pass it on to my scientist squirrel cohorts for analysis...and science!

Our scientist squirrels were able to crunch the numbers this week and determined that Wednesday would be the best day to broadcast our comic to the 'Merican people! Now, they're working hard on the best technology to light cigars. DARPA had extra funding for this, of course!

Official Captain Freeagle Website Launch
Posted 9 years agoHappy Memorial Day, everyone!
Today marks a milestone for Captain Freeagle with the official launch of his political satire and social commentary web comic. You can check out the new website at www.captainfreeagle.com. For all of the new visitors to the site, I appreciate you taking the time to stop by and read. So what's this all about? Well, let's get down to brass tacks!
This comic will be taking strategically placed satirical jabs to the nuts of well known politicians, celebrities and also be a platform for commenting on social issues relevant to today using humorous cartoon characters. In addition, the comic will eventually transition to telling the story about a ragtag band of heroes who join together to save America's beer from a series of hilarious villains. More to come on that soon!
To celebrate, we are also having a contest for a free giveaway! Simply re-tweet this twitter post below and you will be entered for a chance to win a free copy of The Art of Captain Freeagle – An All American Web Comic, courtesy of Desert Fox Publishing. The drawing will take place next weekend on June 4th or June 5th.

Posted 9 years agoWhile the dust settles on the great FA hack of 2016 (seems like there is one major incident every few months), I figured I would share the details for my other websites. I mostly post on twitter and have been migrating content over to Furry Network. Seems like a more stable site overall and I hope the user base grows over time to make a thriving art community.

Wacom tablet driver not found - Solved in Windows 7
Posted 9 years agoHi all,
I've been experiencing issues with my Wacom Tablet on and off for quite some time, however the issue happened inconsistently where I would boot my computer and the Wacom Tablet Driver simply wouldn't load. After some research, I finally found a solution that works without rebooting or downloading drivers.
1. Disconnect the tablet and hook up your mouse.
2. Open up your Task Manager. (Ctrl+Alt+Delete)
3. End the following processes: 'Wacom_Tablet.exe', 'Wacom_TabletUser.exe', 'Wacom_TouchUser.exe'.
4. Go the Start Menu and search for 'Services'. Click the Gear icon if a list of similarly named processes pops up.
5. Under Services (Local), click on Wacom Professional Services, then stop the service. Keep your cursor over the start button, but don't click it yet.
6. Disconnect the mouse and connect the tablet.
7. Hit enter the start the service. If this doesn't work, you can tab/ alt+tab until the Start button is highlighted, then press Enter to select it. Wait a moment while the tablet driver loads, then use the stylus.
8. Your tablet functionality should now be restored.
Hope this works for other folks out there who are experiencing the same issue. I do hope Wacom definitely fixes this legacy issue at some point in time.

Posted 9 years agoI have decided to part ways with my digitgrade deer fursuit which has been worn less than ten times during the entire time I owned the suit. (Two conventions and two local meets.)
The full auction details can be seen here:
http://www.thedealersden.com/listin.....-extras/121987
Asking price is $1749 for a full suit, refurbished head from Lobitaworks, Techkewl phase change cool vest, carbon fiber hooves, hand-paws with sewn in leather paws, a belt loop tail and a green bandanna. The head includes a fan built into the muzzle and the bodysuit includes removable digitgrade padding as well as a front facing, hidden zipper.
