Oooo, ooo, I'm taking part in a craft fair this coming september with some of my >3> work

It is both little and well known that one of my hobbies is entomological(bug) taxidermy, and I'm planning on selling my work. :3 So on top of both my jobs, I've also been cranking out a whole bunch of insect pins and I'm just waiting on my shipment of frames to come in, along with having to make some resin casted invertebrate and shed snake skin(from my own pets) jewelry. I mostly do lepidopterans, but lately I've been expanding into beetles, and arachnids as I find them. I'll also have a couple of unfortunate mantis nymphs, as the extreme amount of rain lately has made it next to impossible to control humidity levels, and I've lost most of my collection in the last couple of weeks :c Most of those I'll be keeping for myself, but I thought parting with a couple would be a good way to raise money for a proper dehumidifier

The craft fair is a company thing for employees and their families only, so no outsiders, but I was wondering if any of you would be interested in seeing some of my insect work. :) I'm sure I'll have plenty of leftovers to post, and even sell if there's anyone who'd like some! If there are, I'll make sure to order some more specimens so I have plenty for you, too!

I can't believe I didn't notice, but I've officially been on FA for five years since March! That's hard to believe, isn't it? I still remember my first posts on here, first watchers, first commissions, a lot of ups and downs in between. You only have to look at my previous journal entries for proof-Haha!

Last month I got sick with yet another thing causing chest pain and shortness of breath and was kicked out of work for a week until my covid test results came back. It was negative, but I was still made to stay out for another week despite a trip to the ER saying I'm not contagious with anything. Had some blood tests done, auto immune disease, yay. Doctor thinks it's lupus. Get prescribed stuff that helps and I can breathe, but then I run out of meds and the breathing problem comes back within days. Can't get more meds until I see a rheumatologist


My appointment was yesterday, got poked at, asked questions. He says I'm fine. I'm perfectly healthy. No I'm not, I can't breathe and everything hurts, but OKay. For some reason, he thinks it's my thyroid even though it was fine in my blood tests and I tested ANA positive and I have a large family history of autoimmune disease. No diagnosis, no prescription

Now I don't have any idea of what this could be, no leads, no medication to treat it with, nothing to ease the symptoms, and it's the weekend now so I won't be able to even schedule a follow up with my primary until tuesday. The only thing I can do right now is ~suffer.~ I am tired and angry and need to recharge

I'm sure you've all noticed, but I disappeared for quite some time after my dad's passing. It took a while to get used to taking on a bit more work at home right after the new job, on top of working on renovating rooms he never got the chance to. There were weeks when I didn't really get to draw at all, which didn't feel too good.

I'm making an effort now to start drawing again, personal art, trades with friends. I don't know if I'll do commissions other than YCHs again, but I hope to be able to show you some of my own art soon enough ^^ For now, my planned game is on hiatus. I do still plan on getting to it(it would be a shame to waste all of that work!), but I have no dates on anything.

A few of you know already from discord, but my dad passed almost two weeks ago from heart failure. Luckily it was fast once it happened, but

it was fast. Faster than we were expecting.

He was supposed to be having heart surgery in another couple of weeks to fix the issue that got to him, but it just didn't happen that way.

It actuallyyy happened the day I got my first paycheck from the new job. I was supposed to buy us dinner with it, but I ended up having to leave work early to go to the hospital, and he was gone about an hour later.

But we had a 'celebration of life' yesterday, some of his family from South Carolina came up to visit, and plenty of his auction work buddies. It was nice to have a gathering and listen to the stories of my dad.

It's kinda strange. We were all there when he passed, we've cleared out his clothes, sorted through some of his personal belongings, had the family gathering, but it still doesn't really feel real yet. It just feels like he's on one of his week trips



But yea. I'd appreciate it if you didn't leave 'I'm sorry for your loss' type comments, if that's okay. I'm trying to keep the situation positive(even if he left us in a...tight spot, which is why I've been taking commissions still). I just wanted to let you know what's going on and why I've been rather off lately

You've probably noticed that I've hardly been active lately, but there's a reason for it!

I didn't think it would be possible for me to find a job that paid enough for rent, let me sit most of the time(can't stand long for health reasons), and was mostly manual labor(what I'm best at), and had hours that would let me keep drawing. It was far too many factors to find the perfect one, right?

AND YET!!

I found one, applied the moment I heard there was a new opening, and was hired just a couple days after my interview.

I didn't want to say anything until I'd been there and saw what it was about, but now that I've cleared out my first week, I can safely say that I could really grow to love working here. The work is simple so I can let my mind wander, but each assignment is different enough that it provides a challenge when you start it.

And for now, it pays well enough that I...don't need to do paid artwork anymore. I'll still be doing patreon work(tf tuesday and pinups), working on my game(s), and doing my poketf series on occasion, but for now, my commissions are closed for good. I might take a few every now and then for funsies, but only when I feel like it.

Saving for a new computer is going to be easy now ;3; If I can keep it, but by the end of the week I was doing assignments without mess ups, so there's hope for me yet!

When I started the tf event going on now, there was something I didn't take into account...The annual candy making. My family has a tradition of making candy and cookies to send out to the extended fam for Christmas, and while it used to be all of my immediate family working on it, the dudes have conveniently opted out(not that they ever opt out of getting to EAT the food after it's done e.e)

Though the journal was made in April, I had gotten sick February of that year, and it never went away. I'm still sick, and it had been sorta manageable for a while, but the last few weeks have been almost unbearable to the point where I've skipped eating days in a row rather than deal with the symptoms. My medication no longer works, and the backup medication I was given last month makes things worse when I take it, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have an endoscopy on the 10th that will hopefully shed some light on what's been going on for almost two years, so until that's over, I'm going to chill for a bit and hope taking the stress off will cut some of the crap my stomach's pulling

I mean I'm still going to work, just not quite as hard. Got a new art program too, so might play around in that so I can come back with new types of YCHs in tow

Hey hey hey! I'm sorry for not much getting to comments and notes yet today, I've been busy getting a certain someone settled into his(It's a boooy! :D) new tank! No name yes, but here he is in his(not entirely set up) tank!

He is a Cuban knight anole, the largest species. As you can tell from the pictures, he's in pretty rough shape, but if he doesn't do that reptile thing and stop eating for weeks now that he's in a new home, I can start trying to get more weight on him.

Now that I've gotten to examine him more closely, not only can I tell that he's incredibly well-behaved for an anole, he's had a rough life. Right foot about gone, the end of his tail coming off, underweight, and littered with scars. That's exactly why I chose him though. It was hard not to love that tough little guy as soon as I saw him, and I hope to give him a home where he can retire in peace, and feed him far too many pinkies.

Yeeah, I know, two journals so close to each other v_v I'm sorry about that

If you were with me last year, you probably knew that I was pretty sick at some points, but recovering. Weeell, I had a bit of a relapse for a while, to the point where there wasn't anything I could eat without getting terribly sick. At least that's over, I'm back on medication, I can eat and drink just about everything again, though I still have fits every now and then.

The big thing though, is that a couple weeks my mom and I took a trip down to Maryland together to visit some family. I thought I'd be able to work while I was there, but Mom ended up sick, and we were out a lot, so that didn't happen, just some personal work bits. It let me know that my illness is just about ENTIRELY stress related though, since I hardly had a single problem while we were away from home.

When we got back though, there was a surprise, and not the fun kind. I had a diabetic cat I could no longer afford the insulin for, so we were keeping her food on a schedule to keep her blood sugar down, so I could either scrape together the money for insulin or just keep her around for a little longer. But my brother and dad didn't keep her on her food schedule while we were gone, and even though it was just a week, she declined...incredibly fast. I'll spare the details, but just getting her back on schedule, and even back on insulin, it probably would've been weeks before she could recover, if at all.

So the day after I got back from vacation, I had to schedule an appointment to have her put down. That really goes on my top ten of worst welcomes. It was fast, and easy, so no worries there. I've just been a mess since then, especially since I got her ashes back a couple days ago. We always joked that my Sarah was stubborn enough to live to 20, but I'm just glad for the 16 I got to spend with her. This, along with some other problems, have been keeping me away. As far as I can tell though, I'm back, and trying to throw myself fully back into everything.

So I normally keep my FA and DA stuff totally separate, but honestly I think you guys could appreciate some of what I've been doing for personal work. And boi howdy did I do a lot of it while on vacation a couple weeks ago and my break a couple days ago(a...big thing happened, and I needed some time off.. :c ). It's part of why I've been slow lately(the vacation and stuff), but yea

Heyyyy, I'm not sure if you remember, but earlier this year, I got sick and had several doctor visits. WHAAaaale I got the bills for it, except all at once because there were some computer problems on their end.
