I didn't know him personally and never had any direct interaction with him, but it's safe to say that Dragoneer was a hugely influential figure within the furry fandom.

The circumstances of his passing highlight greater issues within the system.

So! It's a new year, and unlike recent years, I actually aim to be productive with art and get a lot done. I've already been posting more frequently and I aim to keep that up as much as I can, which should be doable considering the amount of stuff I need to work on. Got plans and stuff. Hopefully some of it should be ready soon.

But I just want to wish everyone a happy new year and hope that it all goes well and things turn out as they should. The world is kind of crazy as of late.

Ooookay, so first I'd like to say that I'm not dead, and I'm sorry for basically disappearing off the face of the earth. I haven't stopped drawing, but I sort of just... stopped posting for the whole year. In my defense, a good few months of that was due to my tablet dying on me. After that, it took a while to get back into drawing anything again.

Anyway, I'm gonna try and get back into posting things more regularly again. I know people have been asking where I've been, and my friends have been saying I need to get posting stuff.  t-kay basically told me off the other day, so I'm gonna try and get back to it in the new year.

I'm staying with family for a few days, but I'll try and get something Christmassy up here for you all.

Hey guys, sorry about my absence. Again ^^'. I just sorta fell out of the habit of actively engaging with my typical online haunts and I've been very bad at responding to people lately, so I'm gonna work on that.

So yeah, I am still alive, I have been doing stuff here and there, and I'll post up some things. Gotta do a bit of housekeeping on the various sites as well, so there's that too.

Just a quick post to say thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! I'm not very good at announcing that it's coming up (sorry about that!) but I'm grateful for all the well-wishes :)

So uh, I’d like to apologise yet again for going dark for most of this year. The last few months have been a bit of a ride in various ways and I’ve sorta been slowly rebooting. There’s been a few changes, ups and downs, and generally more things than I’m used to handling, but things are more or less under control again. I’m only just getting back to actually working on my own art again, so don’t expect a full resurgence, but I’ll post what I can. I’ve got a couple of sketches and a recently completed piece to show, so I’ll upload those later.

Finally got it up and running. Now I need to install all my software and such.

Two things are still escaping me though. The video ports on the motherboard don't seem to be sending a signal, yet the graphics card does it just fine. Probably a setup issue. Also, I can't seem to get Windows to recognise the HDD, even though the system knows it's there. Maybe it needs formatting or something? Everything's running off the SSD at the moment, which is fine for now.

Anyway, all that only took 7 hours, but at least I have a much better idea of what I'm doing now.

I mean, cut me some slack. It's my first computer build. :)

First off, many thanks to everyone who helped out with the computer issues in the previous journal! You guys were very helpful and I became more aware of what I should be looking out for and how to better test everything.

So then, it would seem that the motherboard itself was the problem. No POST or any kind of power going through it at all, despite a fully functional PSU (which I am currently using in this machine at the moment). It's been sent back and replaced and a new one, so hopefully the build should go a lot smoother this time and I'll be powered up on a new machine by the end of the night.

Let's see how it goes.

UPDATE 1: After a bout of confusion, a minor shit-show of my own incompetence from forgetting to connect power cables to drives, and monitors not getting a signal, I finally have a system that boots up!
Now I just need to work my way through the BIOS settings (maybe) and install the OS (fo' sho').

That only took 4 hours to get to this point. Jeez I'm bad at this...

UPDATE 2: So I'm trying to figure out why it's telling me to connect a boot drive when it can see there are 2 available options. I guess I need to install the OS at this point? Really guys, I'm totally clueless about this.

UPDATE 3: Hoo boy, we're in software trouble territory now. Getting a memory_management error when trying to boot off the Windows 10 disc. Computer's basically looping endlessly at the moment, though I tried booting from the UEFI and SATA options it gives me. Same error on both, and the solutions I find are only applicable if the OS was already installed.

Got the power supply, graphics card, monitor and keyboard hooked up to the motherboard. As far as I can tell, everything's where it should be. So why, oh why, isn't the motherboard getting any power?

Admittedly this is my first time building a computer myself, but I've taken my previous one apart before, and successfully put it back together, so I'm not sure if I'm just missing something obvious or I've somehow managed to fry the board before connecting the power.

Far as I can see, my only options for something being wrong are:
- 4 pin plug running underneath graphics card (shouldn't cause issue, will get extender to fix issue later);
- possible misconnect of sysfan plugs (though I'd guess it should be those and not cpufan);
- faulty PSU or leads (it was working perfectly in old machine);
- fried motherboard.

Clearly I'm hoping it's not the latter of those options. I've been trying to figure out what's up for the last hour and I have to sleep soon.

EDIT for specs:
Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D (motherboard standoffs pre-installed)
Mobo: MSI Z170A Gaming M5
PSU: powercool X-Viper 950W modular PSU (from previous machine. Fully functional.)
Graphics: MSI GTX 960 Gaming 4G
RAM: DDR4 Fury HyperX (8GB) (x2)

I tested the PSU in my old machine and it gets power to that motherboard just fine, so I doubt that's the problem. I was hoping the issue was that the new board was grounding out, but the Corsair case has pre-installed standoffs so that seems unlikely to be the issue.
The board won't POST so it seems like the problem is either with the JPWR connections, or the CPU. I had the CPU installed at a shop since I wasn't confident about doing that myself, though I was surprised (and mildly concerned) that they didn't apply any thermal paste. I'm not sure if that would cause the issue, but the fact that it isn't receiving power at all also makes that seems unlikely to me.

Gonna try hooking it up again, though I'm thinking there may be a fault with the motherboard itself.

EDIT 2: Still no luck, but I'll remove the CPU and try again from scratch. Gonna eat first though; it's 9:24pm. Rah.

Yup, I'm still around (barely)! Sorry again that I've not been at all active for the last few months - I seem to have take an unexpected hiatus from posting anything anywhere, but I'm getting back on track again. I'll get back to notes and messages when I can.
