So, now that "Working Girl" is finished and we bid adieu to Juggalos, I find myself in need of a new partner. Not that  SpiralingStaircase SpiralingStaircase hasn't been an incredible partner all these years, but he's done with longform projects for the foreseeable future, and thus my next novel needs a different illustrator.


The next novel is going to be about something that exists in the overlapping part of the venn diagram that contains me and my future partner's liked fetishes. I've got ideas for fantasy, sci-fi, modern-day, all of them broad and flexible enough to work with anyone's style or tastes.


Above all else, I want this to be a collaboration both my future partner and I can be excited about. There have been only 25 "official" Working Girl illustrations, but our collaboration spawned an entire fandom of ideas the two of us found ourselves excited to explore, more than just business.

So my 20-year-old work-horse of a car had its timing belt break the other day, which was bad enough, but because it happened while I was driving on the freeway it damaged some of the other engine components on the way out. It's going to be at LEAST $3,500 to get me moving again- Mechanic's not sure yet whether it'll be cheaper to repair the engine or replace it entirely- and this was AFTER being extorted for ransom when my Discord got hacked, as mentioned below:

I am still open for regular writing commissions, but those will remain at the 2024 rate of five cents a word, since they're the most time-consuming and the reason I'm discounting the hourly ones.

I've been feeling like my older works haven't been getting much attention lately, so to fix that, I'm resorting to good old-fashioned bribery!

So, as some of you already know, I caught covid in late May and basically spent all of June bed/chair-ridden, and even today I'm still not free of the coughing fits, fatigue, and random headaches. Unfortunately, the bills and living expenses won't take a doctor's note of covid as an excuse to put off payment, so I'm opening small emergency commissions.
WHAT YOU GET:

These are small commissions, between 500-1000 words, depicting just about any expansion or transformation you want*. No setup, no story bits, just the fillet of the experience, one or two people growing, changing, melting, sexing, whatever. Quick and dirty (Or clean, if you swing that way) scenes that can be plopped into a larger story or used as a caption for an existing picture.

WHAT I GET:
$15 USD delivered via PayPal. I'm discounting it because I'm not able to work at full speed yet, but hopefully cutting it down to the essentials will make that bit easier. If you feel like adding a gratuity or something, I sure won't stop you.

Well, now I'm sick, too. Sounds like sinus infection, but when I called my doctor they said if it's not showing any Covid-19 symptoms (no fever, no sore throat, no difficulty breathing) and it's not an emergency, I'd have a couple weeks to wait to be able to see him again.

I was giving some actual thought to Checking myself into a mental institution, but now with me being sick I feel like that'd end poorly not just for me but for everyone else in there.

I think I'm just gonna try and sleep today off...

Geeze, been in a dark place lately... Real emotional downward spiral. Maybe Quarantine is getting to me?

It got so bad today I had to call one of those crisis hotlines. When I googled it there was the Suicide Prevention Hotline and then there was the Crisis Hotline, and I spent longer debating which to call than I'd like to admit.

(Wound up calling the "regular" Crisis hotline... have to admit I wasn't terribly impressed.)

My mom had to get tested for Coronavirus today because she's been sick... She ticks off basically every "Increased vulnerability" checkbox, so needless to say it'll be a very tense week until the results come back.

I can type a good game with lots of exclamation points and smileys, but really, nothing's bringing me joy or satisfaction right now. I don't feel good when I work, I don't feel good when I *don't* work. There's just this ache, of me moving my limbs through sheer dreadful obligation, and that's the only thing getting me out of bed.
