A life comes to an end
Posted 9 years ago"Moonlight on the Snow.
Moon lighting my old plum tree.
Moonlight in the Snow."
My grandfather wrote this haiku the morning before he ended his life.
It sent a shock wave through the family.
My grandfather was a very influential person in my life and many others.
He was one of the most eccentric people I've ever met.
But also one of the most kind and selfless.
A great source of guidance for anyone who needed it.
Family or not.
An amazing painter and poet, especially of haiku.
He gave me a painting before moving to Washington 2 years ago.
It's been hanging on my wall since he gave it to me.
Now, I cherish it even more.
Thank you Papa, for everything.
You taught me endless patience and shown me endless kindness.
You taught me to value knowledge instead of trivial things.
I'll miss you greatly and sorry I didn't say I love you more often.
My own father wrote a haiku in honor of his father.
"Body old and cold.
Dancing with moonlit Plum Trees.
Heart of Purest Gold."

Giant Stingray and Crab Orgies
Posted 10 years agoI went to an aquarium today with my SO and our friend. It was a fairly decent time. It's also kind of sad seeing animals in cages, but it's also so fascinating seeing them up close.
My favorite were probably the jellyfish or horseshoe crabs. Horseshoe crabs tend to travel in multiples. One large horseshoe crab in front and two or three holding on behind. My SO asked the aquarium lady why they do that. Apparently, the largest one is a female and the smaller ones are males clinging on hoping to get a chance to mate with her when she released eggs, or something like that. Either way, it went from a cute crab train to a giant crab orgy. The most entertaining part is that these crabs are in the "touch pool" which allows children to touch them. Watching the children ignorantly poke at horseshoe crab orgies seemed kind of wrong but also kind of hilarious.
On our way out we stopped by the gift shop were I was enthralled by a tiny octopus plush toy. My SO, on the other hand, fell in love with a $200 giant stingray plush toy, which he nearly bought, but my friend I talked him out of it. He really wanted that stingray guys, I heard him complain about it for an hour after we left. Double standard, I say! I remember two people giving me a hard time about my fascination with an aquatic bird located within a certain fountain drink establishment...

Sex is not about reproduction
Posted 10 years agoNormally I don't get super opinionated on this site but after watching a video of a moronic Christian homophobe I can't help but let off some steam about it. Some Christians insist that sex is for reproduction and reproduction only, this is an argument they use to try and make homosexuality seems wrong or "unnatural." Sex in humans beings, and many other animals, have evolved to be much more than for reproduction. It's a social structure. Throughout human history it was used for dominance, status, and bonding just to name a few. Sex is not just about reproduction anymore. Sex should be embraced and promoted as a way for people to connect, enjoy, and bond with each other. That goes for committed and non committed relationships. It's a way for we as humans to do human things with other humans. Simple as that. As long as sex is consensual between adults there is no issue to be had. Of course I could go much deeper and discuss my opinions on very specific details but I'll leave it at that. Consensual sex, regardless of the details, shouldn't make people feel shameful or inadequate.
Why do Christians have to ruin everything?

Captain's Log
Posted 11 years agoPrelude: This little short story was based on a dream I had last night. This is more or less exactly what happened with a few added things to make it more understandable because my unconscious mind left some plot holes. It's not really anthro related so I decided not to submit it as art. Also the fact I'm not a great writer.
Captain’s Log: October 19th 21XX
I started to see things when I closed my eyes. I would see events and they would happen. At first I thought I was going crazy but eventually I began to tell people. Of course there were believers and non-believers. I would have thought I was a crazy too in someone else’s shoes. Eventually one of my visions was the coming of the end of Earth. Images of earth crumbling and breaking apart plagued my mind. That’s when I started the project to get to space. Some of Earth’s greatest minds believed in me and developed a way to build an outer space colony. It was the only way to ensure survival. For decades, tens of thousands of us worked on the colony fearing the day of destruction. With intense preparation and funding it took us 20 years to complete. Which is a near impossible feat considering the massive size of this undertaking. Soon we started sending our people up to the colony, slowing but surly. It took a couple years of back and forth trips but we succeeded in building humanity’s first fully functioning self- sustaining space colony. Naturally, when everything was said and done, people wanted me to lead them, they believed in me. Despite not wanting this important role I had to oblige. I had so much to learn but with the help of my fellow people we were running the space colony effectively. Our next plan of action was to travel as far away from Earth as possible. The colony was large and not very good at traveling, but it could, just slowly. After one last attempt to encourage the remaining humans to join us we started out journey. We decided to head towards Mars for the time being. It was the closest planet that may have resources. However the day was coming upon us fast. Anxiety and fear swept across the whole colony. Some even doubted it would happen at all. On the day of Armageddon we all decided to spend the day “off.” To enjoy the day with our loved ones in case we were unable to travel far enough from Earth to survive. Of course some of us with more power had to continue our duties that day to continue the running of the colony, but we did it with pride and promised ourselves that in the last few moments before we were allowed to meet up with our friends and family to possibly say our last goodbye. The day was here now and the time approaching. News from earth told of earthquakes and strange weather happening worldwide. As planned minutes before the blast I waited in our decided spot to meet up with my significant other. He was my right hand man and also had many duties today, he was running late. Assuming he was stuck in a problem somewhere I begun to panic. I stood stoic as possible watching as the people around me stared at the monitor showing Earth’s crush began to crumble. That’s when the first shook happened. A huge blast ripped through Earth and hit the colony. It shook nearly everyone off their feet but no damage to the colony occurred. I noticed a lonely elderly lady to my left. She was having trouble getting up after the shake. I ran over to her to help her up. I put my arm around her shoulder to give her some balance. No words were exchanged; she merely smiled up at me. I wasn’t sure if she even knew who I was and I preferred that. Still anxious I found myself looking around nervously through the crowd. Where was he? I just want to see him one last time—CRACK! We were hit again. This shake more violent than the last. Most of us were ready this time and stood our ground. The weight of the elderly women falling over was too much for me to handle and we fell to the ground once more. When I got my bearings back the elderly women was about a meter away from me struggling to get up, but out of the corner of my eye I saw him. He came running towards me. He was out of breathe and apologizing profusely. I stopped him and pointed towards the elderly women. He ran over to help her and I picked myself up to join them. The three of us decided to sit down, better prepare for further shakes. Wrapped up in each other arms we watched as our home planet fell apart in front of our very eyes. Some people were crying others could only manage to stare with their mouths open. It was the truth none of us wanted to believe. The most intense shake yet hit the colony. The power shut off and the force pushing the colony drastically off balance, causing us within all to be thrown towards the back of the room. My significant other and I smashed against a wall, still holding onto each other. I closed my eyes and pushed my face into his chest, I thought it was all over. I waited there, with my eyes closed, which felt like an eternity. When I looked up everyone was looking out the window this time because the screens were turned off. All that we could make out was a small round fiery ball, it was Earth, and it was gone.
Captain’s Log: October 27st 21XX
I never experienced visions after that day. I admitted this to my fellow colonist, expecting to lose my position, but they wanted me to continue in my role. They trusted me now. Things more or less eventually went back to normal. The colony ship sustained little damage and what was damaged was minor. Those within this colony were the lone survivors of Earth’s history. Not a title many of us held with pride. We were glad we were alive but the loss weighed on us all. The question of course was, “What is next, Captain?” My team and I decided to continue onward towards Mars. There was little option left other than to go on.

Changes all around
Posted 11 years agoI feel my journals are very irrelevant to my actual page here.
Today was my last day of work, sort of. My last day at my store... After a lot of thought I transferred to the store nearest to me. My last day was a very good day. Customers were generally nice and thankful for my help. Not the typical idiotic and rude reactions I get. However, saying goodbye to the people I worked with for the last two years was harder than I anticipated. I'd like to think I'm detached from people but today was proof against that theory. I'm not sure if I'm happy with this finding or not. Back to my main point, my new store is located in a better part of town and I'm hoping my experience on a day-today basis will be better. Not to mention it's closer. It'll be nice not to spend so much money on gas. I love my SUV, but damn, she is a thirsty bitch.
I'll try to post some drawing soon. I've attempted drawing lately but I feel rusty. Nothing I've drawn felt worthy to submit. In good time my friends.
Cheers to changes,
Kerr

Apprehension about FA
Posted 14 years agoFor a long time I stayed away from FA because of all the negative things I heard bout it, specifically all the animal porn. After having a few people on another site recommend it I finally gave in and made an account. Even after making my account I posted one thing and still avoided the site for the most part. I didn't browse or make friends with anyone. Eventually I started looking around the site, to my surprise it seemed okay. I didn't run into any of this "furry porn" people had warned me about. For few weeks I continued to see beautiful art and I really enjoyed the site. Until one day I was reading a comic, I clicked the link to the next page and I got a warning "You are not allowed to view this page." All that time I assumed that the site had no maturity filter because my age was older than 18, but it seemed that the filter was set to General Audience. I switched it off so I could continue the comic I was reading. Turned out the comic was marked that way because of violence, but things were about to get worse.
The next time I was browsing I found images after images of just pron. It's ridiculous. I can appreciate art in most forms, even a nicely drawn picture of such content, but the majority of what most people are drawing is just porn. Nothing else. I might be off base but wanting/enjoying/drawing Anthro porn is not a far step from bestiality. Maybe it's just a fetish and you guys don't think of animals in that way, and I really hope that's the case, but I can only see so many mutant human/dog dick being shoved into an asshole before I get tired of this site.
