All money will go towards various aspects of my move (whether it be a ticket home, shipping costs for my stuff, or whatever other expensive crap it is I need to pay for!) (Also, please try to keep it to one character, otherwise it's $2 for each additional character).
You can order as many as you want and pay however you want (including paypal, I'll just deal with the lousy charges). HELP! NEED MOVING ADVICE!
General | Posted 18 years agoThere's a long story somewhere in this that I don't want to type out, but essentially, I'm transferring back to California. (I know, I'm fucking lame, but whatever, circumstances are bad right now and I can't deal with being 3000 miles away anymore). The thing is, all my shit is here. All of it. Almost every worldly possession I own is here. And I need to get it all back to California.
Now, I know that people move all the time and I was wondering if anyone had any advice.
Is there some way I can get all my stuff shipped? And, if so, how much it would approximately be?
I tried looking into UPS, but I kinda guessed on weights and such of objects and it didn't LOOk expensive, but I don't know if I was reading it right.
Anyone that can tell me ANYTHING about this (if there's maybe a moving company that can do stuff like this), let me know!

Price is based on complexity. A 1-3 color doll with minimal clothes or markings will be cheaper than one that involves a lot of embroidery or color changing. Please note that characters with extremely complex markings may be simplified slightly.
Please note that $7 will be added for shipping costs.
3. Payment
I accept checks, money orders, and, if you have to, concealed cash or paypal. I absolutely hate paypal with a fiery passion because I can't get it to sync with my bank account and thus I don't have access to the money unless I want to get charged to have a check cut, so that's one of the last options I'll accept.
I will not as you to send the payment until I have AT LEAST completed the sketch, but usually not after the piece is completely finished, but before it is shipped.
Pieces such as dolls may have to be paid for early if I have to buy supplies, but I usually won't ask for payment until after the doll is completed and ready to be shipped.
4. Strange Payment
I may also be willing to trade for some items or in exchange for buying me things. Although that still involves some amount of money, it can sometimes be cheaper for you (for example, buying a DVD, book, or toy that costs $10 in exchange for a $20 commission). If there's something you think I might be interested in in exchange for a commission, feel free to note me.

Most of the money should be going towards a new computer because mine is a piece of crap (actually, I'm currently typing this one someone else's computer because mine is broken), but it will probably just go into funding my comic, scratch ticket, and blind box addictions.

General | Posted 18 years agoI've recently learned how to make these awesome dolls using crochet and I've made a few of them as gifts and am in the process of making one for a trade along with (finally) one for myself.
Now, I don't see an issue with the gift giving or anything, but I was wondering how other people viewed this. What should be my moral stance on using these patterns to make commissions?
I mean, I'd be using the patterns as a base to make the characters of other people, but I don't know if that'd be the same as taking like...a how-to-draw book and just applying the colors of someone's character or just tracing a template that someone made.
Obviously, I feel this takes enough time and effort where I would feel it is my own, but because I'm using the author's pattern as a base I don't really know how to approach this, if I should see it as completely theirs no matter how much I change the pattern to make a different animal or different colors or outfits and I was wondering what you all thought.
Any input would be great =)

Here's the deal. I'm home and I do have a job, but I still don't work enough to try to save up money to get myself a new computer (which I REALLY need). So I'm going to work something out.
Instead of offering commissions, I'm going to do pictures for donations. This way you get to kind of set your own price. Choose what you want (whether it be knit, drawn, etc.) and let me know how much you want to donate.
Obviously, if I get too many people asking for 30 pictures in full color for a dollar I'm going to stop this, but I'm leaving it kind of open for you guys.
So yeah, comment, send me a note, let me know what you want and maybe we can work something out.

Friends, Family, and the whole "Furry" Thing
General | Posted 18 years agoI think about this a lot because, well, being a furry is a big part of my life. I don't have a fursuit (mainly because I can't afford one at the moment), but I'm pretty deep into it, I love being a furry and I'm very proud of what I am, but I don't know how my friends or family feel, even if they know.
As far as I know, most of my friends either don't know, or know and don't care (this is excluding the ones I've told directly I'm a furry). Some just don't know what it is, which is okay.
Now, my parents know I draw anthros. They've seen my art. I don't think they know what a furry is, though if they did, I don't know how they'd feel. I do some pretty weird crap and they love me, so on one hand I don't know if they'd care, but on another, they're the kind to think wrong information is right and assume I have sex with animals in my spare time or something.
Now my main...not really concern, but the main thing I ponder is how other furs deal with dating non-furs. I've been dating a non-fur for almost two years now. He knows I'm a furry and he doesn't care. I mean, he's not going to dress in a fursuit for me anytime soon, but I don't really care and he doesn't care as long as I don't, but how do other people deal with it? Not telling your significant other just seems wrong, I don't like keeping secrets from someone I could possibly marry someday, but I know not all people would take it as well.
I dunno, guess I'm just interested in knowing what other people have say. I've seen plenty of journal entries about furs dating other furs and different species couples, but never anything about fur and non-fur relations....

Commissions - Different Fund this time
General | Posted 19 years agoAlright, well, the other day I spent almost everything in my checking account for a plane ticket (literally, I had about $3.44 left in there), so now it's the Make Sure Sheila Can Feed Herself Fund. Well, not really as my mom is kinda helping me out with food, it's more like the Make Sure Sheila Can Afford A Place To Live Next Year Fund or the Make Sure Sheila Has Money In-Case of an Emergency Fund. Either way, I'm trying to save up some money so that if something DOES happen (like I get really sick or...I dunno, some type of emergency) I have some money chilling in my bank account instead of...not.
I'm going to try to raise...$200. I know it's the holidays and people can't really afford crap like this right now, but they ARE pretty cheap so...yeah, consider it maybe?
How much I've made so far: $0
Anyway, here's the prices and what I'm offering:
Pencil sketch: $5
Ink: $10
Colored (colored pencil): $25
Colored (digital): $20
Additional Characters: $2-5 (depending on the type of commission)
To get it mailed to you: $2.50 (for envelope and postage)
Knit objects:
hat: $30-50
Ipod case: $15-20
Scarf: $20-30
Bag: $25-50
Note: These prices are broad due to the fact that some people will ask for MUCH more complex items than other people. For example, I multi-colored striped scarf will not only take more effort, but different types of yarn, so it will be a little more and an Ipod case with a picture on it will be more than one without and so on.

Don't get me wrong, I don't agree that people molesting children is right. I think it's horrible, but they're fucking DRAWINGS. And they're fucking DRAWINGS OF ANIMALS. OH, BIG FUCKING DEAL, A BABY ANIMAL. Just because someone draws minor pornography doesn't mean they go out and molest children or that they want OTHERS to go out and molest children. Just because you draw two dogs with people features fucking doesn't mean you want to have sex with a dog or want others to have sex with dogs, does it? Exactly.
It's fucking freedom of expression, if you don't like it, don't look at it. Considering this is already a community of people that aren't accepted by everyone, you shouldn't be leaving because fur affinity is giving people the right to post their different tastes. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you should throw some immature fit and leave because of it.
If you don't like it, just don't look at it. It's as simple of that.
