Well friends, it looks like I will be able to make it to Pennsic, but barely. I have just enough money for gas to get there and back. There are some people who are going to pay me back some money, but for the moment it looks like once I get back I will have to start job hunting to keep myself out of the red.

I am, naturally, going to continue to do artwork. I hope to get a part time job so that I have enough time to keep things rolling, and so that (hopefully) I will be able to help staff at WPAFW and go to the wedding in September.

This kinds sucks, but I'm trying to look at it as a tactical retreat, rather than quitting. Obviously I can't quit, but if I can save up some money and keep doing art, maybe I can ease into the waters a little easier. Obviously, if the situation changes and I start getting an influx of cash again, I might be able to forgo looking for employment from someone else. But right now, I am pretty much broke after August.

On the plus side, since I am going to be at Pennsic for two weeks, this means that I will have some fun time to do commissions! Nothing painted, but if you want a badge or a picture done, let me know what you want and we can talk about a price! I do on site pencils, inks, markers, and colored pencils. I can draw your OC, or whatevers you want. I will also send you the original!

WEDNESDAY: Drive to Pittsburgh. The trip is... less than exciting. Took a different route, which might have saved about an hour. Got to Kyr's, meet coolguy Alex, who's from the UK. Go with Jino and Alex to friend's house. Drinking happens. Portal buddy happens. The most paranoia inducing game happens. Sleep happens.

THURSDAY: Vague memories. Nearly everything else that happened that day was obliterated when we were kicked off of the roof, right before the fireworks happened. Really, really wanted to watch the Zambonelli's (or whatever it's called) fireworks from up there, but because it sprinkled and there might have been a thunderstorm, security felt they had to kick us off. Rage destroyed all other memories. The fireworks were kinda nice, but I was too angry to enjoy them.

(DISCLAIMER: If you have anything to say about what happened Thursday, why they did what they did, or my reaction to it... I. Don't. Want. To. Hear. It. I've already heard it, there is nothing you can say that will not have been said, or will change my mind or how I felt about it. Just drop it.)

FRIDAY: Get everything and head to Artist Alley. Alley the Aprkley and Tony Stark definitely saved all sorts of my backside, not only by letting me stash stuff in their room, but also loaning me a wheely cart, but also just hanging out and being awesome. Realized I could not find the prints I had made to do pre-made badges. Fortunately, a local friend of mine, Dobie, said he would print them out for me. Spent the whole day finishing badges for Ogresama, Jino, and a pink rabbit. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE. Mostly worked on making a price sheet after that. Dobie said he would come over after they were done printing at 11. He shows up after 1, but I was having a good time hanging out with random people so nobigdeal. On the way back to my car, some random dude tries to sell me pot. I drop some of my papers, and as I am picking them up, a random police guy walks up near us, leans against a building, and lights up a cigarette. Nope.jpg, pick up everything and get home.

SATURDAY: At table, young girl walks up, was probably around 12. Stands there looking nervous for about ten minutes, then asks if I can do a badge for her. OMG YES. Also first non-friend who has asked for something. She tells me about her character, and I ask her what she likes.

"Uhm... may I please have a rainbow?"

When I finally hand over the badge to her, the expression on her face made my con. Totally worth the extra effort I put into it. She even sent me a text afterwards about how it was amazing and she loved it.

SUNDAY: Set up next to a nice lady from Canada. She said that she is totally willing to help me out with Etsy stuff and can teach me all sorts of stuff about how to sell things online. Jackpot.jpg. Finish my badges, and treat myself to a ben and jerry's ice cream cone the size of my head. The only official thing I got to dow as stick my head into closing ceremonies. Go to the Zoo (the big hangout area). Get a chunk of sandwich from Akirashima. Being awesome, he also gives a chunk to randomguy. Tear rolls down his cheek. The sandwich is names The Glory, and it's legend has begun. Played Cards Against Humanity with Ogresama for a few hours. Didn't win by points, but had the best play of the game. The zoo shut down, but there were people everywhere. Played some old school mario, watched people dance like bosses, and went back to Kyr's to crash.

MONDAY: Chilled with Jino and Alex all day. Ate subway.

TUESDAY: Waited till Kyr was home to say goodbye, drove back to Ohio. Rain happened, but all at once. Got cheapo fireworks fountains for Scott's kids to play with. Got a message from Amanda Winters, saying she had cashmonies for me. Meet her at Jenny's, she gets me ice cream, too. Win forever. Now I should be able to afford to go to Pennsic! Barely! but still, PENNSIC!

I managed to pull it off, even though I didn't think I was going to. 3 badges made, ready for printing and then to be sold at Anthrocon. I haven't used digital art in years, and even though it crapped out on me (but with only the Earth badge for some reason), I was able to get it all done sooner than I expected. This means that I can get a head start on other stuff I am going to sell, as well as finishing badges some of you have already ordered! I'm going to be posting pictures of all three tomorrow!

After concept work, I have to pencil everything, then ink it. I set the original up on the lightbox and then angle the marker paper on it. Then I have to draw it AGAIN. The lettering for the bee propaganda? I had to draw it in marker, then ink the edges, then ink the edges when coloring it with the black. I DREW THOSE LETTERS LIKE 5 FREAKIN' TIMES. All so I could make something that would have been crisper on a computer. GAH. At least I can sell it though, right?

Speaking of which, any advice on pricing artwork? Anybody?

Anyone else hear about this? Supposed to be a furry convention or something. Apparently I am going to it, and my art is going to be there.

Wow. That took a long time... for about the past two years life has been pretty much HELL. Moved about five or six times, lost my job, people back-stabbed me, and I ended up homeless. Needless to say, my art suffered. Also, it's been a terrible time trying to find a way to sketch or draw anything... and then it took a while to get access to a scanner.
