General | Posted 8 years ago As of Monday I've started work again at a new school within the school district.
Despite it being a 3 hr job out of the day even 3 days in I've been doing work off the clock. This is because I'm not in a normal classroom and more like a program to help kids who need extra help either due to their learning disabilities or other things. Helping the teacher prep things for them is now part of my job but this is sure as fuck not what I signed up for when I applied. But oh well.
Mornings are still hard for me. I'm not a morning person and spend the first hour and a half of work groggy and barely functioning, so I have to sleep earlier in the night to make sure I get sleep so I can drive and not fuck up on my drive over.

General | Posted 8 years ago Feeling a bit back on my game. I attempted to work through it all which didn't work but something got done at least.
Spent the weekend at my boyfriends which helped a lot, had 2 moments where I couldn't talk much about what had happened without tearing up. Thought I was able to do it but no.
I'm home now, feeling awake, got my coffee. Switch is charging in another room so I don't get distracted wanting to play. Was kinda the only thing to 100% distract my head from the issue. But I'm good now. Getting back to work.
Deleted the last 2 journals cause I don't really want to look at them.
Short summary:
Last 2 weeks were rough. Dog was getting old, unable to get up, seizures off and on. Had to stay up most nights to watch him cause he slept all day and was up all night. Couldn't let this go on so had plans to put him down since medication wasn't there to make things go away but easier for his death. Things went from okay to worse one night. Took him to the ER vet. Was too old for surgery, had to put him to sleep because things would only get worse and it wasn't fair to keep him alive if it was only for our sake of not wanting to see him go. Stood with him as he fell to sleep and as his heart stopped beating. Been out of wack since.

General | Posted 8 years ago 6 months is not enough to earn for a convention but I'll be going to another one at the end of January which gives me another 6 months so no rest this July it seems.
I'll keep this goal the same as last time at $900 USD, which will more than cover for the weekend but leave extra as a back up for my life. The hotel is much cheaper than the one I got for Anime Expo which is why.
Monthly goals will be between $150 - $200 USD. I am going to set up a ko-fi cause I've been debating it for a while now. Patreon feels too big time for someone like me.

Why?
I'm going to Anime Expo all 4 days and it's basically my big spending pat on the back after suffering at Target for 3 years and some alone time with my bf. Why the extra 2 days? The 29th I'll be getting last minute things done for my cosplay and the 30th is last minute con/hotel room prep with bf.
Only my desktop is logged into FA so I won't able to respond to notes and such.
Commissions will be worked on like normal on July 5th

If you live in the So Cal area (near Los Angeles) and have a free day between July 1st and the 4th I totally recommend going at least one day. If not for the fun than def for the artist alley and vendors <3[Mission Complete!]
General | Posted 8 years agoThank you everyone who has commissioned me over the last 6 months! I managed to make my Anime Expo money goal, which will really help let me enjoy the convention without wrecking my wallet.
I'll be working on these new commissions pretty non stop for the next 3 weeks. I have put my two weeks in at Target (though now it's more like 9 days) so the 15th will be my last day. Though I don't have a lot of shifts next week so I can spend that time doing commission work.
Because of these new updated free time I'll be drawing most of the week and will make the weekends my time off. If the commissions reach the start of July then I won't be able to work (Anime Expo is the 1st through the 4th) but work will continue on after that like normal.
July will basically be my 100% time off from working, both commissions and my day job (but like I said if the commissions aren't done I'll work till they are, they won't be delayed). But that means no new commissions till maybe late August.

General | Posted 8 years ago Last few days I hit a snag since I forgot how much waking up at 7am fucks me over once I'm home from my school job and then going to Target right after to work.
But some shit went down at Target apparently in the day that I was gone (my day off there) and I'm gonna find out today if it was true.
If it is I'm giving Target my two weeks tomorrow and if not I'll stay till June.
Hey guys if you know someone who wants to work at Target, stop them. Three years there and the fucking problems that came out of being there has not been worth it at all.Reusing sketches for YCHs?
General | Posted 8 years ago Ive been thinking on this but haven't come to a conclusion.
I never finish my own personal drawings to the point of inking and nice coloring and I feel like the sketches could be used better for someone else.
This would only apply to my personal sketches, not gift art or commissions.
I thought maybe try that Sponsor It thing where someone pays to see a sketch finished but that feels weird and I honestly know no one would pay.
I don't know. What do you all think?

General | Posted 8 years agoI'm officially all good on my new job and will be starting next Thursday. The last week was spent running around finishing paper work, picking up things to give to the school and dealing with my current day job which hit was bordering a shitstorm the other day.
But!
I'll be a teachers aid for special needs kids at the elementary school of the district and I'm super excited!
The job has me there every morning (mon-fri since school) 8-11am. Some might be for the afternoon. While 15 hours isn't alot, the starting pay is by far better than what Target pays (They struggled to hit 10.50 and that was after the California min wage was increased and instead of adding a dollar they just bumped everyone to 10).
I'll be sticking around Target till June (if I can handle both jobs) then quitting before July as an extra fuck you.
I hate working at Target and I know all the stores have their bullshit but the shit that goes on at my store is fucking mind boggling with all the adult children that work above me. I'm so glad to be leaving.
Of course two jobs will HEAVILY affect my commission output so for the current one I have I'm going to be finishing that before Thursday or next weekend. I'll take a week off to see how I handle the two jobs and go from there if I can take another ref sheet commission. I have one sketched and ready but don't want to post it and have no energy to even work on it. That's what happened last holiday season and had to cancel the YCH auction at the time till a later date.
Of course the two jobs thing will only last till the end of June, when I'll be quitting. I'll have 1-2 months off (depending if I work summer school or wait till the new school year) and I'll post if I plan to take that time off or take a commission or two.
Once the new school yeas starts I hope to have a solid plan on managing my time between the job and commissions.

Art being sold along with a character must be sold at a 50% less than the original price. Why? You did not make the artwork.
● Work on a commission does not begin until payment is sent ●
This means payments are required up front.
Commissioners are given 24-48 hours to send payment from the time the invoice is sent.

Minor life update
General | Posted 8 years ago First off thank you everyone who gave me some words of smarts for reference sheet commissions. You guys brought up some stuff didn't even think about so it'll for sure help me when I set that up.
Second, I got a new job!
Last week ended up really busy due to running around with calls for my new job and having stupidly taken extra hours at my retail job (I like my coworkers so I don't mind helping)
No idea when the new job will begin but I think probably for the new school year (It's a teacher aid job for special needs kids in the classroom. I'm super excited to work with the kids specially since I get to work with the elementary schoolers.
It's a 3 hour a day job, every morning save for weekends. I'm deciding once all the paper work is done and finished when/if I'll quit my retail job but right now it's leaning towards quitting. My job is horrible and no matter how hard I work I'm always shat on by my managers.
And with set hours and a higher pay I won't even need to keep both jobs to make more money. Not sure how it'll affect commissions but that won't be for months.
Advice on taking ref sheet commissions

The newest commission offer will always be put as featured until sold and during that time I don't take/post new orders
So yeh, just people have been asking since I posted the icons. I don't know when I plan to do more. Last time I did them was last year so, gives you an idea.
