I'm going to very quietly put this here
Posted 12 years agoI have changed accounts so many times in the last few months to have the audacity to ask every person to rewatch me on my new account.
I do hope however that some of you guys do; and aren't offended by my only leaving a journal here.
I've done some soul searching this past week and have decided to go back to my very first screen name
rayventail
There will likely be a post on my new account of why and what this name means to me. But let me just say: Once you find something that works; don't change it. I'm making a change I've always wanted and have been timid to do so. But please, go follow my burdbutt over there and thank you for understanding. :)

I could use some honesty
Posted 12 years agoThis is more or less a poll about my art, and a general post to try to get some feedback about my artwork. After having been in a funk with not only myself but my art as well; I'm ready to grow and expand. It's hard reaching out of the box but I really would like to improve and start filling my gallery with better pieces.
With that being said, what do you like about my art? What should I continue doing?
What don't you like about my art? What should I do to change these things?
Any and all feedback would be appreciated!

At last, a (hesitant) sigh of relief!
Posted 12 years agoA little update on my Saltwater tank. On 2/27 I found out my fish were infected with Marine Ich (a parasite which is the woe of most aquarists)
I'm relieved to report that for the second day, there is no visible sign of the parasite. I am so happy.... so relieved, and haven't had any major loss in my tank. My favorite fish is not only the one who was the worst, but is now absolutely thriving and doing well! :) I had found a reef- safe medication; and I think all I have right now is a grumpy conch and emerald crab and one missing peppermint shrimp. My corals are doing great! Couldn't be happier with the medication I used. Now the slow and tentative watching for a few weeks before I stop medicating all together!
*happy dance*

Whew! Aquarium Woes and Amazing art!
Posted 12 years agoStill working on my watcher list, I had so many pulled up I was getting 503 errors from FA XD Decided to take a break for a minute and work on art.
Thank you everyone for your support! You've made the move a happy one, as I was afraid many wouldn't go through the trouble of re-watching me!

Ithy is a fantastic artist who is an absolute delight to work with! She Captured Oxaas perfectly, I could not ask for a better picture of my most treasured character. Definitely go commission her when you can! Her art is fantastic and she doesn't have nearly the amount of watchers she deserves!!! I will absolutely be working with her again! :)
And more news:
Today is a day of small successes for me. A few of you know I have a saltwater tank that I've invested quite a bit (well... the majority) of my paychecks into. It's my pride and joy, however its also been having some ups and downs the last two weeks. I added some livestock without quarantining and am paying the price for not having a quarantine tank set up previously. (which thankfully, I do now)
After loosing a fish and getting it replaced by the very generous store owner two weeks ago, I lost the replacement this week. :( I'm crushed, as it was one of my favorite types of wrasses, second only to the Sixline)
At the same time of its passing, I noticed my fish had flukes on their eyes, and began treatment for them.
Two days ago I noticed my prized Clown Wrasse and McCosker's Wrasse both had marine ich. What a nightmare :( Thankfully I have reef safe medications in the tank, and none of my fish are showing any spots right now after 24 hours of the meds being in there. I just added another dose an hour or so ago keeping in mind that disappearing spots are just part of the ich cycle), and will continue treatment for a minimum of two-5 weeks just to be absolutely certain no ich remains in my tank.
All my corals and inverts are doing good through this treatment. I could not be happier!
In the process of treating my fish, I've been soaking their food in garlic to keep them eating (also adding some Metrodnitazole to it, to boost their immune system and keep them healthy as they fight this illness) My Black Leopard Wrasse (who has only been eating copeopods since I've added him) finally ate some frozen food today, and with gusto! I am praying he continues to transition over to the frozen food, as I don't feel my pod population is enough to sustain him.
For anyone else who is in the fish hobby, take this as a lesson. Quarantine always! It's not worth risking your entire tank, especially when the livelyhood of your pets are at risk.

Slowly but surely!
Posted 12 years agoThank you everyone, who has not only watched my work, but continued to watch me over on this account!
I apologise for the lack of anything as of late, at this current moment I'm going back and re-watching all of my favorite artists (this is quite a task, I think I have around 700 that accounts I watch.)
Hopefully later today I can get some art out. I have some pieces I owe people and some personal works I would like to bring to life as well. Please stay tuned! :)
