Looking for roommates!
General | Posted 10 years agoGood evening!
I'm looking to fill two rooms in a 3 bedroom apartment in the Renton area! We are located in between Renton Technical College and I-405.
Perks of the complex:
-Gated community
-Indoor basketball court (full size gym) and weight room/lockers.
-Pay rent online whenever you want!
-Covered parking available
-Good view of Renton and the property is surrounded by lush greenery
Perks of the unit:
-200 sq. feet larger than average for a 3 bedroom
- ~15% below market rate (~$650 with bills such as internet/water included per room)
-Below ground location means the unit stays cool in the Summer (75F at most!)
-Recently remodeled; a better quality unit for 15% less money.
-A master bedroom is open: Same cost, a separate bathroom and a walk in closet!
Pictures:

Send me a message if interested! I will answer any question you might have!
Thank you for reading this! ^>^

Hello! I'm in need of a nestmate in the Seattle metro area!
General | Posted 10 years agoHey, thank you for taking the time to read this journal.
I've decided to move out of my Auburn apartment come the end of my lease agreement in June of 2015. I'm curious if anyone would be interested in taking up residence with a burd!
Things about me:
-I have pet Green Cheek Conure so feather dander must not be an issue! (I would hope so seeing I am a burd and all :P)
-I am employed and have a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. I currently work in Federal Way.
-Dishes make it to the dishwasher, I have a microwave and I never enter people's rooms without permission!
-I'm passive and willing to make agreements if disputes come up. If I have any concerns, I won't hide them and I don't play games with people!
-I generally keep to myself on worknights but I will invite people over on occasion. I spend a lot of my days off away from the apartment.
-I have my own car and willing to help shuttle a potential roommate around the area if need be and, of course, gas costs are shared.
Things I'm looking for:
-I would like to live near Federal Way (Kent and SeaTac are within range). Federal Way offers the urban feel with many eateries, diverse population and ethnic enclaves (cool Korean shops!). Federal Way has a mid sized mall and is right on Puget Sound (Dumas Bay is beautiful). It has numerous job opportunities from corporate offices (they are all over) to working class jobs! Federal Way is one of the best places to live for rent pricing in King County. People are moving to Fed because of the affordability.
-I want a roommate who doesn't mind the occasional rant, wants to eat out from time to time and is generally nice!
-I ask that any potential roommate has enough income to pay for amenities and the rent costs! I simply cannot cover two people. All I want is electricity, internet and any basic costs like water.
I am putting out the feelers to see if anyone might be interested or needs a spot filled in their house or apartment! If interested, you can message me here or contact me on Twitter: @TheAvianFurry.
Thank you again for reading and I hope you have a pleasant day. ^>^

Burd Extravaganza at RainFurrest!
General | Posted 11 years agoHello! I am trying to organize an event filled with feathers at the fabulous RainFurrest. I am looking for anyone who has at least some burd in them and would want to meet up! I currently live near the convention (Auburn, WA) and know the area well so I am open to any ideas! This event is not to conflict with Hootalo's burdsuiter get together but rather be an opportunity for all burd fursonas to meet up in person. Message me here, on Twitter at TheAvianFurry or send me a message on Skype (MarkGCConure) if interested! *yewk*
Hmmm....it has been a while....*cheeee*
General | Posted 11 years agoWell, hello burdies and things! I have kept my "blogging" to TheAvianFurry and thus haven't done much other than fave stuff on FA.
A few new things about this feathery floof:
-Graduated college
-Moved in with Kawaburd in Auburn, WA
-I'm currently looking for career work in a good ole bureaucracy (agency work is my preferred route but I'm open to non profits as well).
-I have deliver sandwiches at Jimmy John's. It's unskilled labor but the tips make it worth it in the interim.
-Excited for RainFurrest and glad that the 5 hour logistics of travelling between Pullman and Seattle are no longer an issue.
-I also have a volunteer interview with the Auburn Police Department. I'm not sure what the work will entail but I'm hopeful that it is clerical so that I can begin to develop office skills. The interview is on the 24th of July.
*preens himself*
Oh, I guess on a more personal level I finally got back into having a relationship with someone but it was short lived. Not to bore the audience with "single desperation" but it would be nice to find someone I have commonality with. Other than that, I've been enjoying the greenery of Seattle now that the Palouse is forever in my review mirror and ready to explore the limitless confines of life.

Rainfurrest 2013 Meme
General | Posted 12 years agoI am very excited for RF this year! It is my second convention so I hope I get to utilize some events I never got to last year. An example would be the dances especially since I am meeting a particular someone of interest in person. ^>^
Arrival and Departure:
Arrive Thursday and leave Sunday evening/Monday morning.
Staying at:
Hilton (main hotel)
Mode of Transportation:
A rideshare from Pullman and then borrowing my dad's Chevy Suburban for the convention itself.
Room Share:
With
Kithy
Major Plans at the Con:
1) Having a good time with a particular someone
2) Attend the dances and panels
3) Meet new burdies and people in general while also hanging out with friends from home
Who will I be with:
Kithy and friends/new people I meet
Fursuit(s):
None but I will be around Corvin a lot. ^v^
Attending Parties:
I haven't been invited to any. So if anyone wants to invite me...
How best to find me:
I will be wearing an Osprey tail, Seahawks cap (part of the time) and an Osprey brand backpack. :P
Stage Performance:
None.
Drink:
Yes! However, I will probably save one day for the "heavy" drinking.
Smoke:
Nah. I don't mind hookah and whatever but I am trying to respect the opinions of someone else and it is better if I go without it. ^v^
Hugs:
I am open to hugs so long as I am not getting sneak attack "hugs" from strangers. ovo
Talk:
I love to talk about many subjects but I am also good at making sure to know what my "audience" would rather hear. :P
Art:
N/A
What is your gender?
Male.
How old are you?
23
Can I touch you?
Sure? I would hope that you asked first...
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
Sure, but don't think that is going to lead to you taking advantage of me....:P
Can I give you lots of money?
Only in cash, and unmarked non-sequential bills.
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Sure, but I am probably going to want to snuggle with one particular person the most. :P
How tall are you?
6"0"
You look pissed off out of suit can I come up to you?
Yup, I am not a mean person even if I am annoyed for some reason.
Are you nice?
I try to be open and friendly but if someone made me really upset then I wouldn't be afraid to be blunt either...
Are you cliquey?
Nope.
Can I stalk you?
Uhhh....please don't....>v>
Do you like parties?
I <3 parties! It's been a while since I've been to a party (New Years) and furry parties are the best!
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Just yell "Glide"
Are you fursuiting?
Unfortunately, I am not...
Can I ask you to dance with me during the dances?
I am not against that but my focus will probably be on someone else. :P
Can I buy breakfast, lunch, or dinner sometime?
Sure but I might be taking someone else out to a few meals so just be aware of the fact I *might* be busy. :>
Can I take a picture of you?
I don't mind. ^v^
Would you like to get a commission done of you?
Yes, but it will depend on how much extra spending money I have.
Want to take a photo of me too if I'm suiting?
I would be glad to help other fursuiters with taking pictures. ^>^

Ah, Summer is here
General | Posted 12 years agoWith the improving weather and the fact I have neglected my journals, I decided it is time to post an update. ^v^
I am taking 7 credits this summer as I am entering the final six months of my B.A in Political Science and ready to graduate. I now have summer job as a produce associate at Walmart so my summer is going to be busy. Should be a relatively easy job that is the "get in and get out" type position where customer "drama" is not too much of a problem. This job will allow me to pay off the bills and afford going to RF and possibly getting some commissions this summer. Speaking of RF, I am also happy to report that things seem to be improving on the "relationship" front as I have a potential date at RF with someone I've been chatting to a lot recently. All the pieces of my life seem to be slowly coming together. It's nice to be busy because while it can be stressful, it also feels good to feel like a member of society once more (I was a bit cooped in my apartment over the winter). I am optimistic and hopefully things will pan out this year so that I can finally open up the doors to living life beyond academia.
As always,

A Yewking Update
General | Posted 12 years agoHey, FA! It's been awhile since I last posted a journal so I might as well update my followers on my life's happenings.
I have been somewhat actively studying and working on essays for my second to last (hopefully) semester at my university. I have a bunch of writing coming up but I am determine especially since my first round of assignments did not fair so well (a few late papers...). ovo
I am still waiting on an art piece I got commissioned at Rainfurrest 2012. I guess I will just have to give it more time... *sigh*
At least I have been able to get a few more art pieces done this year so far so I am content. I have been trying to stick to a once per month commissioning schedule but due to financial restraints I have been averaging one piece per two months.
I have been living on a meager $300 per month outside of rent so money has been relatively tight but I am not complaining given the fact I am receiving a stipend I don't need to pay back. :P However, I have been trying to find a job on campus. I got a few call backs/emails but their schedules conflicted with my classes. :>
I am also finding out more about myself when it comes to attraction to others. I used to think I was relatively heterosexual when it came to who I would be interested in but I am finding out that is not the case. My physical attraction still lies primarily with women but I am now able to look well beyond physical traits when it comes to who I am interested in. It definitely feels enlightening and thus has given me the ability to become a lot more interested in someone who is similar to me in many ways. It's been a gradual process but it is opening the door to someone who I care about and I can't wait to see where it leads. (^)>
I still feel relatively isolated in my college town but with great people I have met online it has become a lot more bearable. Hopefully this stage of my life will come to an end so that I can have more freedom to meet people and live back at home among my long time time friends. ^v^
I guess that it is it...for now. *cheeereeek!*

It is hard to believe how much Twitter has helped me connect to the furry community since I joined last August. I am been able to meet so many unique individuals and establish a social net of users I can trust in the fandom. It is also amazing how much people share the same passion for burds as me. Twitter has not only introduced me to great people but has also helped me open up as an individual and become less insecure. Thank you to all those who follow me and I hope to meet more people in the future. Oh, and not to advertise but....here is my Twitter. :P TheAvianFurry
The Crimson and the Gray
General | Posted 13 years agoI am back in the land that calls Busch Light "water." I came back just in time for the snow to begin melting so at least that is going for me. I missed the first day of classes because my previous ride bailed on me and repeated attempts to contact him failed. >v>
Oh well, time to email my professors and make sure I was not booted from any class. Hope you guys are having a good week. ^v^

Happy New Years!
General | Posted 13 years agoI hope everyone who reads this had a good holiday season. I'm currently winding down a good break with friends and enjoying my true home in Seattle. However, with most things the good times don't last forever and I most return to the desolate and frigid lands of the Palouse. My goal this time around is to befriend more furries in Pullman as I think a town of 30, 000 (most being college students) has to have some furs. Anyways, thanks for following me and good luck out there! ^v^ *yewk*
Looking to get a partial fursuit made: wing arms and head
General | Posted 13 years agoIt seems I will have around $600 to get a head and wing arms made. I am trying to find anyone of good craftsmanship who is willing to work in that price range and is open for commissions. Any suggestions? :>
Classes
General | Posted 13 years agoI am thinking about taking five 1 hour and 15 minute classes on Tuesday and Thursday so that I can have Monday, Wednesday, and Friday off. The problem is that I would have to be in class for almost 7 hours straight with no breaks besides the 10 minute gap for walking between buildings. ovo
Do you think this is wise or have any of you done this yourself? :>

The Apple Cup
General | Posted 13 years agoWell, that was the craziest game I have seen in person. I am glad the Cougs could upset the #25 ranked Washington Huskies and right now this burd is almost too jittery to type this post. I try not to post about sports on here but....Go Cougs! ^v^
Comfort
General | Posted 13 years agoIt is ridiculous how much better I feel when I return back to the Seattle area. I feel like I fit in far more seeing that most of my friends live here, more open minded people in the Seattle area, and furry events all over. I cannot wait to finally be able to call the Seattle metro area my home once more. ^v^
American furs: I implore you to vote! :>
General | Posted 13 years agoHaving a .0000000001% impact on an election is far better than having none. Voting directly impacts who serves in the House of Representatives and the Senate. Not only do their votes impact legislation but these congressmen and women also serve on congressional committees were 70-80% of bills die by their discretion. The creation of bills are impacted by your vote in local district elections for both Congress and your state's legislature. Voting also impacts who represents the interests of your region's constituency and the issues that affect the area you live in. If you are tired of the same old Washington then step up and vote in the general election. Only the American people can make the changes they seek and it won't happen if you do not get involved and do not vote. ^v^
Oh, and one thing we should all agree on is to vote "Yes" on Referendum 74. Equality for all. :>

Commissions
General | Posted 13 years agoI have decided I am going to spend around $40 each month on a commission. The least I could do to give back to the community and I can't help it being completely addicted to anthro art. ( ^)>
Rant: Anthropogenic Global Climate Change
General | Posted 13 years agoThe sciences overwhelmingly support the idea that humans have had adverse effects on the planet. "Scientists have an agenda!" the bigots shout. Yeah, all millions upon millions of scientists are all working together in one mass conspiracy to blame humans for impacting the environment (nice evidence you can provide....oh wait, you have none!). Or maybe it's because of the changing oceanic currents, the oceanic dead zones, rising salinity levels, increasing sustained CO2 levels (sorry, this goes beyond volcanic activity in Greenland), smallest recorded ice sheets that continue to erode more each and every year, the ice cores showing huge increases in CO2, the receding glaciers around the globe, weak spots in the ozone layer, increased mass extinction, oceanic temperature increase, increasing oceanic CO2 levels causing coral reefs to die across the globe, increasing pollution in urban centers, evidence of environmental changes thanks to dendrochronology, decrease in earth's vegetation impacting oxygen production, increase in global temperatures for decades non stop, etc! Yes, the planet is not doomed in the next twenty years but humans DO have an impact and to say otherwise is ignorance compounded by self entitlement and egotistical nonsense. Nature will not wait for humanity's "economy" to declare when it is profitable to invest in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy sources, protection of our water resources, and the planet's vegetation. >v<
I can't resist....how about those Hawks?!
General | Posted 13 years agoThe Seahawks upset the New England Patriots by coming back from a 13 point deficit in the 4th quarter. Russel Wilson on the mark with almost 300 yards passing and 3 touchdowns along with a couple key interceptions from the defense. Amazing game and great to see the Seahawks win, 24-23 over a team the Hawks have not beat since 1993. Great day to be from Washington, a great day to be a Hawks fan and a great day to be an Opsery aka "the Seahawk"! ^v^
Evolution Rant
General | Posted 13 years agoI find much amusement that people will assert that natural selection is at work and is an amazing process but then claim humans are innately better than other animal species. Yes, because a process out of your control (evolution-which even with modern technology can only be altered only to a certain degree) automatically makes you the superior even though it had nothing to do with your efforts. It is this idea of self indulgence that is rather petty and even though humans remain as the only completely sentient being (under our own definition as sentience is still being challenged by other animal species thanks to scientific research) it does not mean humans are superior. Humanity's ability to manipulate the environment to create the technology we see today was thanks to abilities developed through evolution including limbs specifically fine tuned for building and shaping objects. Yes, humans had to work at surviving to continue the process but humans were able to survive due to the planet that existed far before the species and due to adaptations out of people's control. ^v^
