This leads to a really important decision for me. I've always had the plan to go into an arts program(at NSCAD most likely) and do a degree there, that's kinda been my goal for a long time. Anyhow, this hasn't changed, however, I have the opportunity to apply and most likely do a program called Katimavik, for those of you that don't know this is a 9 month long program where I would be traveling Canada and spend 3 months in 3 provinces. Volunteering in various things, and living with 11 people in a group home.
I would get to do this for 'free'. Technically I'll be doing 35hrs a week, volunteering. However, my travel, board, food, personal items, activities, tours, and essentially everything we do. All while doing volunteer work, and group education sessions on things like enviroment, culture, healthy lifestyles, etc.
And then I'd be able to defer my acceptance into NSCAD and do this program for a year. Essentially I'd be starting my university a year later, all with this experience under my belt, I think I'd really like to do it. But I might be missing a major issue.
What do you guys think?

General | Posted 17 years agoSo back from The Blue Man Group, and I must say, they rocked my socks.
I also must say that I have never seen an audience look so bored in my whole life. The show was KILLER the opening act was great, and these people couldn't even manage a headbob, I yelled my lungs out when they were doing crowd participation because no one else was, me and my girls got a lot of dirty looks, and made several middle aged women leave an hour early.
But I've noticed this trend
A) why do people go to shows/concerts only to sit there, look bored, or want everyone to be quiet. If you want to sit and only listen to the music, just buy the DVD, seriously, it's way cheaper and your couch is more comfortable. Either get into it or go home.
B) Why are there 45-80 year old people at concerts that are very loud, messy, and have lots of movement. Then complain that it's too loud, or people are dancing/yelling too much. I don't get it.

Seriously though, I keep waking up on my floor at like 4am, it's wrecking me, can't seem to get restful sleep and I have so much I'm trying to do.

General | Posted 17 years agoAt work! Not my house! Don't worry my things are fine. However, my body almost wasn't there was a fire dangerously close to our propane tanks tonight at work and it gave us all quite a scare. Being one of the first people to see it, let me tell you my heart gave a jump.
anyhow, I'll be trying to work on a new reference sheet for my character tonight, because I want to maybe start asking people for trades and jazz. But who knows, I have two sketches left to do, and I'll get around to them I promise.

Poodle skirts and Break-ups and Birthdays

I've recently been involved in my school production of Bye Bye Birdie, which went FANTASTICALLY I'm so sad it's over, I really enjoyed it. I had by far the best costume lol. I'll put up a photo or two if anyone is curious.
A few days I broke up with my boyfriend of two and a bit years. It was hard, but I'll get over it, it needed to be done.
Life is getting on with itself. I'm starting to go to the pool again(thank god, I missed it), and I'm getting out and living my life. I should be back to productivity soon hopefully.
Oh! Also, a reminder for a certain someone(or anyone curious), My birthday is coming up on the 14th~

1. I feel that my best choreography is with the Jive when going slightly faster, just having fun. I feel that when I'm concentrating less on what I'm doing I seem to mess up less.
2. I feel very comfortable in front of the class, what makes me comfortable is the fact that everyone has to do it. However what makes me feel uncomfortable is the 'clicks' that form a bit in class.
3. I'd really like to be able to improve my co-ordination, I feel that I can do the moves separately just organizing it all together or making my arms and legs do different things at the same time is very difficult for myself. Also I tend to bounce around a bit too much, making it a little hard with rhythm and choreography.
4. Evaluate is to judge on a purely objective standpoint, criticize is to tell someone what they've done wrong or poorly.

What stands out to me about dance in different cultures is the sheer variety of reasons, from ritualistic dances from Mayan and Inca eras in South America used to help respect their ancestors, to capoeira which is a form of 'dance fighting', to awkward teenagers swaying in a circle off-beat at a high school dance.
A few reasons for dance are listed below:
o To connect with loved ones
o For recreation and fun
o To express an artistic idea
o To stay fit
o To test their will, and the skill of the human body
o To entertain
o Stress Relief
o Self-esteem boost

1. Dance is a great number of things, it's a rhythmic movement with or without a pattern. It's an expression, a ritual, sometimes it's even an ice breaker. 2. I agree with the statement that,”Sports are inherently artistic, but that which is artistic is not necessarily sporting”. Arts of any type are difficult to 'judge' which is the nature of sports, to win, to compete. While there is dance competitions, at such a high level of proficiency it becomes more about preference and less about technical skill. I feel that while dance has the potential to be sporting that it should not be an Olympic Medal sport, because to judge without bias you must incorporate rules into judgment, which takes away from the overall artistic nature of dance.

Anyhow, recently I've been panicking a whole heckuva lot about getting into university. I have no idea what to do, well I have a bit of an idea now thanks to the help of SOME FGT. However I'm still overly worried, but I suppose it's something I just have to -do-. It's hard because this year I'm trying to do as many extracurriculars as I can so I feel a little over-loaded.
Also, for the record I'm always open for commissions. I feel back because I've had a few people ask me if I am then not respond so.. I don't know.
