Furcon Question
Posted 13 years agoSoooo my lanyards don't seem to go over so well at most cons, FurIdaho they went over great. Problem is I am using better material now, they are a LOT better quality, and I need to sell them more to make the slightest bit of profit.
Do you guys think $20-$25 is too much for my lanyards? Flip through my gallery if you don't know what they look like. They vary in style, and I may try to learn some new styles before the con in March.
I don't think any one understands the time they take. Yes, maybe some pro can take an hour, but I take several =[ and to purchase the material + ship it isn't that cheap either in the long run, especially since I have to buy what colours I -think- will sell and hope to hell they do or I just have extra mats sitting around not being used.
Also, what kind of button designs would people like to see?

Posted 13 years agoI have next to nothing when it comes to watchers, but I still figured I'd ask this.
Figurine collecting is a big hobby of mine, and I've always wanted to create them :3 If I were to gather up the supplies to sculpt a base, make a mold and cast your guy's fursona (or anything I guess) then hand paint it once all done, how much would you be willing to pay? These would probably be no taller than 8" and that's the absolute tallest probably. Bigger= way more money, if you're okay with a smaller one, then of course less.
Now, the supplies needed seem like they could be super pricey, so I am not wanting to do this if I don't get any answers or people say like $10 haha. These would be hand sculpted/cast/painted one of a kind of your fursona/character, they would not be reproduced unless you wanted me to and I would of course credit you for creating the fursona.
I'm looking into doing this of my own creatures/characters down the line, but commissions make me money right now, not selling my own original art ._.; as much as I'd love my own art to just sell like hotcakes lol!

So there are a handful of websites I inhabit to post my artwork on. deviantART I have 60+ watchers. I literally went dead on that account for several years and just now picked up on art again this year. I have a tumblr with 1 person, a Facebook page with 50+ likes and this, my FA page.
I almost NEVER EVER EVER receive comments, good or bad, on ANY types of my work weather it's my lanyards, sketches or completed images. It feels pretty shitty.
I AM NOT ASKING ANY ONE TO COMMENT IF THEY READ THIS. I just... I don't know. I don't get it! Between FA and DA you'd THINK I'd get at least **one** comment on the same piece of work. I literally cross post my work and receive no comments.
Can any one give me advise? What should I do? Does my art just suck? Do I need to pay FA for ad banner space? Should I post more images with completed backgrounds?

Few things! I think I may rename my account. People keep snickering at the account name and asking weird questions... The name was made as a joke, I never even intended to get into the furry culture! So then I kept it. But now it's getting like uugggghhhh I get it hahaha raging panda sounds sexually funny cool story bro. So if you see a name change soon, that is why. And I'll post the new name etc.
I'll be at Tomodachi Fest! Hopefully I have better luck there. Going to build some displays, get a banner made. I'll be going under my freelance graphic design company name, but it's still be :D
Ummm commissions not opened quite yet. Have a few more things to finish and then I'm set. Just a question though. Would any one be interested in goggles? I used to make super light weight goggles (would be perfect for fur suits, the less extra weight the better) and can probably make them fairly cheap since they're for prop purposes only, of course. If I get into this, I'll be selling them at Tomo. Also if any one is going to Tomo, I'll probably do cheaper commission prices for lanyards etc if you pick them up at con (:

I've had 3 hours of sleep... and that was yesterday... and no sleep today yet, probably not until the end of the con tonight, or if I can somehow sneak in a nap ;_;
I have 5 (I think 5 anyways!) lanyards pre-made, all ranging in price since they are priced different/cheaper for cons, a bunch of $1 pinback buttons of furry goodness ranging from paw prints to lesbians and gays kissing and dick girls =D lol! And then some new buttons at normal pricing, random things like a necklace and bracelets, and hopefully more! And hopefully my art prints ):<
Now COME ON DOWN and visit mah table(s)! =D

Posted 13 years agoSooooo was trying to get buttons made for my last commission that I've been taking too long on, send it out today and be done with it and it be on its way!
1: For some reason printer resized image, so I go to cut it with my circle cutter and it slices through 3 images on the page.
2: Printer is now out of black I think... So everything looks terrible.
3: Post office is now closed and I work tomorrow through Monday |:
4: I am busy as shit for Fandemonium in like 2 weeks OMG I do not have time for this crap!
5: Now I need to go spend MORE MONEY on ink and figure out how much it costs to print and what file format I need to get my prints done, then print my buttons at home ;_;
Guess I'll work on other stuff until I get more ink, hopefully tonight :/

Posted 13 years agoI AM ALMOST DONE WITH MOST OF MY COMMISSION YAY *____* I have some non FA related commissions such as logo work for a band and I am like dead.
So I think $32 should be a good solid price for lanyard/digi art badge/button combo. Lanyards come out the standard size that you can buy any where, digital badge is 800x800px this can be changed if some one has a better suggestion, and buttons are roughly 2 1/4".
Maybe $10 line art commissions that are 1000x1400px (not sure yet) from groin or mid thigh and up, an extra $3 for full body, $5 extra for flat colour, so potentially $18 for a full body flat colour at a decent resolution. I want to try and go with flat colours from now on until I am more confident in my work.
Aaaand adoptables I am def looking into! Probably $5-$8 for a line/coloured adoptable that you get send the large, unmarked vers of and $2-$3 extra if you'd like clothing/accessories drawn on :3
As you all may have guessed I am legit pretty new to furry art, so this is difficult for me to get used to drawing snouts, elongated feet, paws etc. So please be patient <3
If this all sounds good, comment! Or let me know your opinions!

Commissions! Badge art/lanyards/pins
Posted 13 years agoSo! I would love to start commissions! I will have to post examples soon, but here is what I will be doing!
Instead of being handed a generic lanyard at a con (some MAY be cool looking, I know!) to showcase your con pass and or art badge of your Fursona, why not get a personalized one that is nifty looking and expresses you? =D
Along with that, I will draw an art badge to go along with the lanyard, it will be a digital drawing, fully coloured, of a waist up or bust up portrait.
AND that same portrait will be on a 2"+ buttons/pin/badge to pin onto your lanyard, suit, backpack, etc! :D

Comment with your thoughts on how much you'd pay. These lanyards DO take up quite a bit of material and time, so I cannot sell them super ultra cheap. I first sold lanyards at FurIdaho 2012, and was able to sell them $10 each due to it being a trial run and not being so good at it. I got my technique down and am even going to be making them out of a much nicer material that is just as durable as before.
I can post reference pictures of some of the lanyards I made, but yeah, I really need to make some money and miss doing art! Don't let my few submissions fool you. If I have a reference of your Fursona, I can totally draw it no problem (:
Instead of being handed a generic lanyard at a con (some MAY be cool looking, I know!) to showcase your con pass and or art badge of your Fursona, why not get a personalized one that is nifty looking and expresses you? =D
Along with that, I will draw an art badge to go along with the lanyard, it will be a digital drawing, fully coloured, of a waist up or bust up portrait.
AND that same portrait will be on a 2"+ buttons/pin/badge to pin onto your lanyard, suit, backpack, etc! :D
