Getting in shape!
General | Posted 13 years agoJust started DDP Yoga today. Holy crap, day one and it kicked my fuzzy butt. O_o;;
For those unfamiliar, it's a mix of yoga, calisthenics and resistance training pioneered by Diamond Dallas Page (one of my favorite wrestlers as a kid—who thankfully has not ruined his life be becoming cracked out on 'roids and killing anyone or wound up a meth addict in a gutter...).
Hey fuego ever hear of this? It's pretty neat. I've got Boda doing it with me. We gonna look good on the wedding day. :P

Life stuff updates
General | Posted 14 years agoBad news first, always best to get the bad news out of the way...
BAD NEWS: Last Sunday I hit an icy patch in the road which caused me to 360, go off the road and slam my car into a gate post. No damage to the body (mine or the car's!) but I busted two tie rods and a tire rim. It'll be $600 to fix, which is almost entirely my fee for a big freelance job I was working on. Planned to save that money for the wedding. ;_;
GOOD NEWS I've got a job interview coming up at the end of the month! It's at a small local marketing/ad agency. The guy who called was super impressed with my work. I think I stand a good chance at getting the job. I just hope it pays well enough to be worth it.
MISC. NEWS If we can get our enhanced drivers licenses in time, me and the Angster will be going to Furnal Equinox in TO this March. Anyone else going/know who's going?

On death and God
General | Posted 14 years agoFair warning, this will be the most TL;DR journal I've ever written—or probably will write—on FA.
I've had this problem for a long time now. I'm guessing a little over a year now. Writing this down is actually helping quite a bit, so I think I'm going to continue.
These feelings have always been lingering, but have been exacerbated with the recent death of my Aunt.
I consider myself an agnostic. I was raised Catholic, but I slowly realized how much science made sense and how little sense religion made. Plus, how was I to be sure that I had picked the "right" religion out of so many. That being said, throughout all of this self discovery, I still refused to believe that the possibility of something more than our own lives here and now was a complete fallacy. Like a tickle or an itch that refuses to go away. David Bowie was quoted once as saying "...well, I'll be an atheist tomorrow." I liked that. :P
As much as I'd like to proudly declare myself an atheist, I find myself resenting them. Not for the fact that I think they are wrong, mind you. In fact, many of the people I respect the most—brilliant thinkers, philosophers and artists—are irreligious. The resentment comes from how I end up feeling for not sharing their opinion. I feel stupid. That's what hurts the most. I've felt that way my whole life. It feels a lot worse on a cosmic scale.
For too long I've been dealing with the fear of dread associated with the possibility that there is a very good chance that one day I will cease to exist. That, after death, I will not exist in some form or fashion—be it as a "soul", or disembodied consciousness, or as "energy" or what have you. That I'll simply be comatose for the rest of eternity, with no hope of waking up. Others offer comfort by saying things such as, "well, there won't be a you to worry about those things anymore so there's no point in it." It really offers little comfort. From what I've read, it doesn't seem like I'm the only person in this boat. One of the reasons I still cling to God is that fear.
Don't get me wrong, I still don't subscribe to the belief that God is an anthropomorphized human consciousness. Or, that heaven is a field of billowy clouds with harp music where you get to spend eternity chilling with your relatives. I still feel that religion, if practiced, should always augment existence and not dictate it, and should always be questioned. Before I had any doubt, I always believed that if God exists, he/she/it would be so much more than any human mind would have the power to comprehend. In college I took a class on Dante. In Paradiso he represents God as a point of light; too far away to ever touch, but whose light can still always be felt. I always loved that analogy. Even before I started having these doubts I can remember staring out into space on summer nights, looking into the infinite sapphire skies and longing to be a part of that.
Ang postulated one time that maybe when you die, you move into another reality where it didn't happen (think Nietzche's Eternal Return), which I thought was a bit clever.
Maybe I am just fooling myself. One thing is for sure however. However I spend my remaining days, I'm not going to let anyone make me feel stupid for feeling the way I feel (one way or the other). I'm well and truly done with that.
My final thought on the subject is this: even if heaven, or an afterlife, or God doesn't exist, the one positive thing that all this fear has done is really make me appreciate life now. I tell all those who have meaning in my life how much I care about them, and how important they are to me with regularity. (That includes all of you guys. If you read this far you have no idea how much I appreciate it.) And when Ang and I lie in bed every night—holding each other close—that's heaven for me. If I knew I could have that feeling alone for the rest of time I could die happy.
I think I'm done now. Thanks for listening furry dudes/dudettes. G'night.

General | Posted 14 years agoI think I like rubber stuff a little to much. On second thought... no.
I was actually toying around with doing a rubber fur panel at a con this year. We'll see where that goes.

Just lost my job...
General | Posted 14 years agoI get 4 weeks severance then I'm on my own. I never did get my raise either. I had just wished they had waited until after the wedding to do it. *sigh* Looks like it's back to ramen every meal.

To those who have met me in person...
General | Posted 14 years agoWhat is your impression of me? It's totally okay to be completely honest. I'm just curious to hear how I come across. More or less trying to improve socially, being "socially awkward lion" and all. :| It's one of the reasons I don't IM with people. I tend to worry I'll just have nothing interesting to say. ):
In other news, I started watching Dr. Who (from the 9th Doctor) on Netflix and I'm getting into it a lot. The special effects can be a bit on the cheesy side, but that's just me being spoiled by American media (besides I think the cheese is what makes it appeal to me anyways :P). Ang is babysitting tonight, so I'm going to marathon it and wrap Christmas presents. :3

MFF Post-con report
General | Posted 14 years agoBout time I got around to doing this.
I want to take the time to thank everyone who helped make MFF awesome. leasara and tincrash were some of the first people we got to hang out with. It's always awesome catching up with them and I felt super bad because we really didn't have a chance to give them a proper goodbye (sorry guys!). I also have to thank my large feline bunny sitters for the weekend fuego, smallesttiger and kri. Getting fuzzy with you guys, and just hanging out too, is always a pleasure.
We also got a chance to meet some really awesome people this year too. flir, who we had the chance to hang out with the last couple of days—including all the way up to our flight home—was super nice and great company. He may or may not be my new fetish best friend. :P Along with Flir we also hung around with marcothecat—who I got an awesome commission from BTW—and quaggy who is going to be doing a trade with Ang. Both are tremendously talented artists and just genuinely nice people. Getting a chance to peruse both of their sketchbooks was a mind-blowing experience. Oh, and I can't forget firr was also nice enough to relate his lovcaraftian experience with a spider bite too. XD I really hope me and Ang can hang around with all of you again at future cons.
I also hung around a little with yippee who I consider my "bunny mentor". In fact Yippee, squeetis and myself made up the bunny collective in the fursuit parade. Hopefully I didn't annoy you all too much.
I really feel like no amount of words are doing justice to entire experience. Every con we go to seems to get better and better as we meet more and more cool people.
*awards show music* Ack! Looks like I'm getting kicked off stage! That's okay, me and Ang are going to start hitting wedding stuff pretty hard now. We gotta get our hall booked soon. Thanks again everyone! :D

Just musing on how web design will shape my upcoming furry escapades. I'm currently developing a site for :userwhyiotter: as a trade for a Therian suit (hence Ang's wonderful ref sheet gift art), I developed a site for :userchillymouse: to get Ang a suit and I picked up some freelance work over the weekend that'll pay for the plane tickets to MFF.
Point: it's nice to do stuff you like to do and get awesome stuff in return. : )

A Message to Microsoft.
General | Posted 14 years agoDear Microsoft.
Thanks so much for managing to screw me over so much this year.
First, my hotmail account. I never had any problems with hotmail, that was until my account was hacked. I checked their help center describing what to do in case of just such a situation. The entire article was: 1. change your password, 2. install anti-virus software on your computer. Well, option two is useless because I'm on a mac and macs don't get viruses. Well, despite option one the people who hacked in managed to just get in once again. Fine. I already migrated all of my emails over to my new Gmail account. Time to delete my entire Microsoft Live account... Unfortunately I can't delete my Live account because it tells me I need to close my Hotmail account first. However, every time I close my hotmail account it logs me out of Windows Live. So when I log back in to close the live account IT REACTIVATES THE FUCKING HOTMAIL ACCOUNT! There's not even a phone number to call tech support and have them do it for me...
Then there's my XBox. Or rather XBoxes... My first console shit the bed on me earlier this year. Because it was a console I got off of Ebay there was no way to send it in to get it fixed. So after unsuccessfully attempting to fix it myself I broke down and get another console. Well after a few months of use the sound from my HDMI port ceases to work. Me and Ang had only really been using the Xbox for Netflix, but I enjoyed watching stuff in HD, vs the standard def I could get on the Wii. Sure enough, after two weeks waiting to get it fixed I get it back. Guess what? Because I thought I'd be better off spending the $10 a month I used to spend on my Live Gold membership on web hosting for myself I CAN NO LONGER USE NETFLIX! Apparently you NEED a gold membership to use Netflix. WHAT?! I need to pay ON TOP of my Netflix account just for the privilege of using Netflix? Something COMPLETELY FREE ON THE WII.
This is why I will never buy another PC, or Microsoft product. I'm even hesitant to run Windows as a virtual machine on my macbook for web testing.
Fuck you Microsoft. And Mr. Gates, if we ever meet in person, I promise to straight up murder your ass. >:(
XOXOX

General | Posted 14 years agoI just wanted to say thanks to all my friends who helped make AC so great this year!
To
starpaw &
iffriel, my friends from Blighty who I look forward to seeing every year. You guys are both so awesome I can't even put it into words.
To
fuego,
smallesttiger &
kri my big kitty bunny-sitters. It was wonderful suiting with all of you, and I hope we can do it again soon!
And to everyone else who helped me and Ang have a wonderful time despite a really rough trip to Pittsburgh, including
lunarkeys,
nyomi,
taki and all the cool suiters on my team at the fursuit games.
Sorry for being brief, and I'm sure I'm leaving people out, but I just wanted to say thanks guys. I love you all!
Now back to work. I've got some cool stuff to share soon. :)

Surgery
General | Posted 14 years agoSo, I don't know if anyone who reads my journals is into inflation at all, but for anyone out there who is, WTF is wrong with you?! XD
I just got back from my surgeries and man let me tell you having two inflated balloons in your nose for even a day really sucks. Normally with this type of procedure the balloons are taken out right after surgery, but because I was bleeding a bit they left them in my nose and told me they would simply fall out of my nose. They did not...
Ang ended up having to pull these damn things out of my face, all the while I'm screaming at the poor girl like a pussy (sorry again sweetie :( ), because I had another fainting spell and was yelling at her to call for an ambulance. Thankfully after some mental bitch slapping I was okay and am doing much better now! I'm still gonna take a few days to recover from the other half of the surgery, but at least I feel like I can breathe for the first time in years! And because these are pretty permanent surgical procedures I should never have to worry about sinus problems--at least the really severe stuff I had been going through--again!

Life craziness
General | Posted 15 years agoWell we finally have internet at the apartment! =D
Ahh my lifeblood. And speaking of blood last week while I was getting blood drawn I had a violent seizure and had to be hospitalized (which was not fun BTW, and besides all they did was put an IV in me and release me an hour later)...so there was that.
Well in any case I'm fine now and you should hopefully be hearing from me and getting some new Boda art soon!

Moving Out
General | Posted 15 years agoSo
angrboda and I are finally getting our own place! It's a pretty sweet apartment, and we'll probably be moving in sometime after the new year. I'll try and get some pics up whenever we get out there again.
I'm a bit nervous still, but hopefully things work out.
Now then, who has furniture they want to sell? =P

Back from MFF...
General | Posted 15 years ago...and now I'm sick! Thanks for giving me all your dirty furry diseases fandom. >=I
Oh well, in light of becoming ill upon arrival MFF was a pretty awesome con. Ang and I got to hang out with our awesome friends
leasara and
tincrash who were nice enough to show us around their new place. Very cool.
I also got a lot of suiting in this year. Thanks to
fuego for bunny-sitting me while Boda was doing her thing in the alley. =P
Plus me and Boda found our new favorite hobby which we look forward to next con: drinking and making fun of Kage!
Now if you'll excuse me, BRB, sleeping forever.

I am a camera whore, so yes. =)
Are you nice?
I hope I am.
Can I stalk you?
As long as it doesn't end up with me being "nommed" to death. >=|
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
I always wanted to try 4 Loco....
Can I hug or snuggle you?
Totes!
May I ask you for a Dance?
You'd better be wearing steel toes that night but sure.
Do you like parties?
Probably wouldn't be going to a furry convention if I didn't.
Can I talk about/do drugs in front of you?
Back off there Tyrone Biggums...
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
My favorite would probably be to shout "BUNNY!!!!" =3
