New Year, New FA, New-s
General | Posted 6 years agoBoy, it's been a minute since I've made a journal here. For the most part, I mention revelant things on my Twitter account, but I shouldn't neglect FA.
Not too much has changed in real life. I'm still working as a college math instructor, although I've left a second job doing SAT/ACT prep for a big test prep company in exchange for a second job doing the same as well as teaching high school algebra. I still hit up AnthroCon and Midwest FurFest every year. My relationships with
Marshtomphappy and 
BlurTheFur are still wonderful. The Pathfinder group has lost its DM since I last made a journal, but I've picked up as primary DM and also do a rotating DM stint with the other players. My workout routine faded away, came back, faded away, etc. for a while, although I'm on a good streak right now as I've found a way to fit things into my strange work schedule.
Furry-wise, anybody who's seen my profile knows that I'm becoming much more enamored with my Pathfinder characters for artistic purposes. It feels right to use characters who have showcased their personalities in tabletop games; the art feels like an expression of character even when there's a strong kink angle to it. That doesn't mean I won't be getting plenty of size art with my 'sona, though! I'm just really, really bad at uploading art in a reasonable amount of time.
I guess that's about it, really! Hopefully you're all having a wonderful New Year's Eve / Day, and I'll see you all in 2020!

Pre-AnthroCon 2018 Update
General | Posted 7 years agoMan, I've gone eight months without posting a journal. Twitter has definitely become my go-to place to say whatever's on my mind to the furry crowd. But AnthroCon is less than a month away, so it's time to do the usual and talk about it.
I'll be staying at the Omni William Penn Hotel with my sweethearts Marshtomphappy and BlurTheFur as well as 
E-Mander and 
Rhewin. It seems that the majority of my close friends will be staying in the Omni, so I expect I'll find it easy to meet up with everybody. I'll be getting into Pittsburgh midday on Thursday, July 5, via a 5.5-hour drive from Delaware on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. I'm leaving midday on Monday, July 9. Beyond my roommates, I intend to meet up with about half of my Pathfinder crew and all sorts of friends. I'll be wearing badges with my fursona and Pathfinder character, so I'll be easy enough to spot. Feel free to say hello, but a quick word of warning: I don't do the furry hugging thing with people whom I don't know well! I'm more of a handshake guy.
Nothing much has been going on since the last update besides me having gone to my first MFF, which was a blast. Life's largely been going well, with me enjoying my job teaching mathematics at a community college. I've gotten back into working out, getting those HUGE GAINS by which I mean I'm still a twig. I've returned to working on my Sonic the Hedgehog 2 ROM hack now and again, but I'm wasting most of my gaming time playing Splatoon 2 and trying to get my remaining two non-X ranks up to that level.
That's all for now! I'll surely write a post-con journal as well.~

End-of-Summer Catching Up
General | Posted 8 years agoMan, I haven't typed a journal in over two months. Frankly, I just haven't had much to say! That said, I may as well say something to freshen up my user page.
As I wrote in my last journal, AnthroCon was a blast. I still dream about it now and then, and it pains me that I'm unlikely to ever make it to MFF while I'm a college instructor. Fall semester finals take place around MFF time, so I can't leave my students like that. I'll find a way someday! Perhaps a body double to teach in my place…
The rest of the summer was pretty uneventful after AC. I finished out the summer semester with a great pass rate in my developmental course and a terrible one in my 100-level course. I reached 600 watchers here on FA. My birthday came and went, and I appreciate the gift art and well wishes I received. My side job teaching SAT/ACT prep was (and still is) rather low on hours to give; classes I'm scheduled to teach keep getting canceled due to low enrollment. Luckily, I have a little bit of supplemental income beyond that, and I'm also considering taking short story commissions of 1000-1500 words on the cheap to bring in a few extra bucks here and there. I've been writing a bit here and there and checking with other furs to make sure my writing quality is up to snuff.
With the summer over, I still have things to occupy my time. I'm of course teaching fall semester college courses and they're going pretty well. Marshtomphappy and BlurTheFur talk to me all the time, of course. Blur has me watching the entirety of Bojack Horseman with him, which is pretty damned good. Marshy has tried to get me into various anime, and My Hero Academia is sitting well with both of us (although we're almost entirely through it). It's hard not to see parallels between it and 
Bomba's Pathfinder campaign, which Marshy and I are both in and which has resumed after very little play time during the early summer. We now have 
Quinn involved, which I'm sure will add a new dynamic to things, and all of the previous players are really pushing their character motivations beyond what I expected when the game first started, which is absolutely wonderful.
I think that's about all there is to catch up on! I've been in a commissioning mood lately, so art will probably be posted every few days. Once I get my confidence up, I may upload my writing samples as well.

Post-AC Journal
General | Posted 8 years agoThursday morning came and it was time to head out to AnthroCon! I checked what I'd packed one last time and headed out the door at 9:55am, steeling myself for a five-hour drive. I did not anticipate that traffic would be awful just outside of my neighborhood and proceeded to freak out as every road I needed to use to get to the Pennsylvania Turnpike was closed, but once I made it onto the Turnpike, it was smooth sailing for four hours until I got near Pittsburgh, where a car managed to break down smack in the middle of a two-lane tunnel. I made it eventually, though! The hype was high! It was 3:15pm and I was at AnthroCon again! I checked into my room, where 
Kurrikage and 
OreoCakes were already waiting. We proceeded to sit around telling each other raunchy stories until BlurTheFur arrived in the room as well. I was starving by this point, so the group and Marshtomphappy went out to Bill's Bar & Burger, a restaurant attached to the convention hotel, the Westin. It was every bit as delicious as I remember last year. The remainder of the night wasn't super active. We walked around the convention center a bit, after which Oreo split away from the rest of us and Kurrikage and Blur went back to the room for drinks. Marshy and I proceeded to wander around for a while.
Friday was a more eventful day. Bruegger's Bagels became the most common breakfast stop for all of us sans Oreo, who spent the entire con with her own group. After some brief wandering around the convention center, Marshy, Blur, and I went out shopping to get Blur some alcohol. It was quite nice to wander the streets of Pittsburgh again. I live in the suburbs, so I don't often find reason to walk to places; being able to walk through Pittsburgh with purpose is an amazing experience that I already miss as I type this journal. Once Blur got his booze, we headed back to the room, and the reality of having two people whom I care about so much in the same place as me hit us hard. We were all a lot more affectionate with each other from that point forward. We went to the Macro/Micro Meetup later in the evening, which was more of a social mixer this year, and then went to the macro/micro room party. As I'm not a drinker, I spent a lot of my time in a side room playing Jackbox games, which was still a blast. Most of last year's shenanigans repeated themselves, what with
Nommz stealing badges and Kurrikage having drunk fun.
Saturday was the most important day of all because it let us fulfill our memetic dreams: in honor of
ChaosDunk and to fulfill Blur and me's guilty pleasures, several of us went to McDonald's and had a burger for breakfast. From that point forward, though, the days were pretty same-y, and not in a bad way! We spent plenty of time in the con zoo, had delicious dinners, and (between Blur, Marshy, and me) were very affectionate with one another. We were invited to 
Jevin's dinner at Le Lyonnais via 
mega-emperor, which was delicious and very much appreciated. Blur, Marshy, and I hung out with mega-emperor and 
Sparky_the_chu on Saturday night and played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. On Sunday, I went to the Whose Lion Is It Anyway panel with Blur and Marshy and then attended the panel on how to be a better D&D roleplayer. Later that night, I had Kurrikage, Marshy, Blur, 
Deriaz, and 
Goolashe join me for dinner on the first floor of Sienna Mercato, Emporio, which gave us a sub-par poutine according to Blur. After a stop back at the hotel room, I sat in the end-of-con zoo until it closed, taking in the finality of everything.
Monday morning hurt. It of course wasn't pleasant to have the con end and see everybody off, but it especially hurt to let Blur and Marshy go home. Walking Blur to his early-morning bus left me tearing up and with a lump in my throat, but I had to see him off and that was that. There was only so much time for goodbyes. I met up with Marshy one last time for a quick breakfast, and because I had to make the conscious decision to leave him instead of having a set time, it hurt even more the second time. I broke down completely and hugged him for a while, and happy tears flowed from me a few times on the way home.
There are so many names I didn't mention in that summary, and those people did matter to me.

GatesFox, and others did little things that made my con experience that much nicer; thank you all. Anti-thanks to the guy who bitched at the security lady in the elevator line in the Westin for his own mishearing; that was the single most immature showing I saw at the entire con.
On a closing note, I cannot emphasize enough how much it meant to me to see Blur and Marshy in person. While I teach community college classes as my day job, there's a big part of me that never grew up after high school. My style of humor still involves ribbing on people and expecting to be ribbed on in return, with all involved knowing that no offense was meant, and that doesn't translate into this fandom well. It's also the case that I feel as if I'm less emotional than many people whom I know, and there are days when the strong feelings of friendship or love for me that others have reach me but I fear that I'm not capable of having those feelings myself. Having Blur and Marshy next to me and realizing just how much I valued their presence and the physical contact we were able to have, and seeing just how happy I was that I could get so sad over needing to leave them, helped me get over my fear and made me acknowledge just how strong of a connection I do feel with them and others online.
If you two are reading, know that I love you so much for everything this past weekend and forevermore. To all of my other friends in the fandom, thank you for everything you do for me. I'm trying really hard to restrain myself from impulsively scheduling a trip to MFF now because you're all so special and I can't wait to see you again.

I drew in one person's sketchbook last year. I am not an artist.
Do you do trades?
No; I don't play Pokémon at all. Oh, and I can't draw anything to trade art-wise, either.

If you want me to turn them down, sure. I had to help a plastered friend last year, and it's an experience to which I'd never want to subject anyone else.

As long as it's not con crud, an STD, a wet willie, a noogie, or something else horrible, go for it. I can't guarantee I'm gonna be super-generous and get gifts for everybody I know, though, so please don't do it expectantly!

Probably not. I'll make one or two exceptions, but if you don't think you're one of them, it's because you're not.

If my answers seem harsh here, it's not because I'm not a nice person. I just don't socialize in a "furry" manner that often. I'll seem pretty "normal" at the con.~

500 Watchers! Woo!
General | Posted 9 years agoY'know how people say you're supposed to celebrate when you see "special" numbers like 50 and 100? Well, 500 is one of those numbers, and that's how many watchers I now have! Omigosh!

What's an "Appropriate" Build for a Macro Dragon?
General | Posted 9 years agoWhat with my latest shape taking on some macro and micro experiences, it seems appropriate to separate my it from my dragon shape more. Since I've been pushing a sorcerer angle with the latest shape, it makes sense to focus more on the dragon's strength. The question is how far to go with that focus, though. Twitterers, help me out! Obligatory Post-AC Journal and TMI Tuesday

My roommate Nommz and I traveled by train from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh for eight hours to get to AnthroCon. The train was coming from New York City and thus already had tons of passengers, so we couldn't get two same-side seats and had to get seats across the aisle. The person next to Nommz was quiet, but the person next to me was clearly the type of person who is desperate for conversation. I spent the next two hours until he got off the train in Harrisburg being hit with a barrage of questions about my trip, and every single answer demanded more detail. I didn't have the heart to cut the guy off, although I did tell a white lie and say I was going to a gaming convention thinking that it would be easier to explain. Needless to say, I did not have a good start to the trip, although Nommz enjoyed it thoroughly. The remaining six hours of the train ride were uneventful.
Trip aside, the con itself was an absolute blast. The first two days were very quiet as very few people I knew had arrived yet, although I did have fun playing games in the Zoo on the first night and got to witness
ian_corvid's amazing sergal suit. My other roommates SyLoX and ChaosDunk arrived early on Thursday, so I had the pleasure of getting to meet them. SyLoX and 
Dialuca01 joined me for pizza that night as well. Friday, however, was when things really took off. I joined 
Tyrnn, Kurrikage, and Dialuca01 for the opening ceremonies and then met up with SyLoX, 
TheFandox, and 
Sean_The_Squirrel for the necessary trip to Fernando's. The lot of us explored the Artist's Alley and Dealer's Den, finding some good stuff but not purchasing right away, and then headed off to the Macro/Micro Meetup where I bumped into an old friend, 
Tweaker, before it started. SyLoX took his best shot at playing Twister during the meet but ultimately came up short, and many of us got to see 
cantstopgrowing's dragon growth animation in VR thanks to 
jamesfoxes's tinkering. 
Neopuc and 
dnapalmhead joined us while Kurrikage stepped away, and the group headed to August Henry's for burgers. This is where the true shenanigans started, although I'll spare the details to prevent any embarrassment. There was also a room party for macros and micros that night, and I had a really good time socializing there. I also got to meet 
Sapphy and learned that she lives near me; now I know that I have more than just Nommz in my area.
Outside of going to lunch with Kurrikage, meeting
Yarideki, watching the fursuit parade, and getting a commission with Kurrikage, much of Saturday was spent people-watching with Kurrikage until I went out for pizza with TheFandox, Dialuca, SyLoX, and 
Appledectomy. Sunday opened with walking around the Dealer's Den with ChaosDunk and moved to wishing Sean_The_Squirrel a happy birthday over a cheesecake that Appledectomy brought. After getting a commission from Tyrnn, I headed out with him and a large group of furs for Chinese food. We bumped into Malcolm Ray of The Nostalgia Critic while there, and although I don't know of Malcolm myself, the excitement from my group was palpable. Returning to the Zoo afterward, the finality of the con hit me hard. I spent the night talking with Zoo patrons and my roommates about everything coming to an end.
Monday morning came and so did the train out of Pittsburgh. PCD-wise, I held up pretty well, only breaking down when a string of people tweeted about their own sad feelings. I have a ton of hours at work this month and have no choice but to stay upbeat and get back to the grind. If I met you at the con, please keep in touch! The macro meet-up for sure. I'm not entirely sure what else, honestly! I'll probably be floating around with whomever I find interesting at the time.

A couple weeks ago, SEGA formally allowed ROM hacks to be played legally through a new emulator infrastructure it's using for all of its Genesis / Mega Drive games on Steam. I've been working on and off on a ROM hack for almost a decade, and the idea of it being legal to play now is nothing short of exciting. If you own Sonic 2 on Steam, please head here and give my mod a subscription (not a paid service). If you like it, return to the page and give it an upvote and a comment to help promote it in the Steam Workshop popularity listings. I don't get paid for this or anything; I just want to spread my work around. Thanks in advance!

How do you guys feel about the ending? Did it meet your expectations? Most importantly, when you inevitably get fan art in God Tier pajamas, what will your title and aspect be? …is probably how I should be acting, but honestly, I kind of forgot everything about it during the long pauses in the story. If somebody would care to explain the deliberately ambiguous ending to me, that'd be great!
How do you guys feel about the ending? Did it meet your expectations? Most importantly, when you inevitably get fan art in God Tier pajamas, what will your title and aspect be? On a curious note, what all would you prefer to see from here out? Any particular subject matter you want tackled? Particular macro/micro scales, muscle, dirty positions, growth/shrink drives, settings… anything? I always want to know what others like to see here. While I won't solely do that, I do like knowing that others like things. :3

TMI Tuesday: Closing Out Macro March Edition
General | Posted 9 years agoI've been talking about how this has been a quite productive Macro March, and that hasn't changed. While I haven't posted any of these yet, the past few days have shown me several updates to WIP pieces and had a commission done. It's almost a shame that I'll have to wait until Micro May to go on another size spree. Maybe I need to do more bigness in April? Ascension April or something? Meh.

TMI Tuesday: More Macro March Edition
General | Posted 9 years agoWhat a productive Macro March this has been! I'm still waiting on two macro commissions that have been started but not finished (and one that's micro instead for a change of pace), but even despite that, I've had quite a lot going on this month in the size change department. But enough about that! It's Tuesday, which means you can ask me anything and I need to answer if it's at all reasonable. Ask me as my character or as myself and I'll tell you how I feel. It's 3 AM right now, which means I'll come back to answer after sleeping, but it'll be a nice surprise when I wake up.

I never expected to end up with as many as I did, but I'm excited to start posting them. It's Tuesday, though, so I'm braced to answer your questions, size-related or not! You know the deal.
