200 Whole Watchers? No Way!
General | Posted 10 years agoIt took nine whole months, but I reached 200 watchers! I know that I could've hit that number sooner if I'd been more focused in what I posted, solely aiming to show off my character's macro dragon form and dirty acts, but that's fine. I feel that I've met a wider variety of personalities by posting a wider variety of art. A big thanks goes out to BlurTheFur for turning me into both his male model and his tortured experiment. Thanks as well to all of the people who have expressed interest in getting art together, and of course to those of you who have become close friends; it means a lot that we can start with a common interest and move on to forging an actual bond. Lastly, thanks to those of you who watch me, of course!
I don't really have a special image or event for 200 watchers, but last week's journal on Nommz torture came to fruition in his stream tonight. The resulting image is absolutely wonderful and will be a nice substitute for a 200-watcher image.~ I look forward to posting it soon. Progress on my New Year's Art Resolutions is coming along well too; I'll have 28 kinks accounted for when the stream image gets uploaded. Here's hoping that the rest of 2016 is so productive!

After some joking around in his chat, we've decided that it's finally time to get "revenge" for his trolling that isn't really good trolling at all! To that extent, we're looking for contributors to help book one of his slavestreams to make him draw each contributor torturing him in some way. Perhaps a group image of some macros dangling him over an open maw, an image of him under a foot or a fingertip, a few macros looming over him and looking down… exact possibilities can be discussed.
Nommz's minimum slot length/cost is two hours for $80. I'd certainly pitch in $20; are there three other people who would do the same for the betterment of the anti-Nommz-trolling movement? Can we count on your donations to make a Nommz-free nation in 2016?
*Caveat emptor: this journal isn't actually that serious and isn't actually pandering for money. The expectation is that this goes nowhere. That said, if it actually happens, then I'll definitely go through with it!

New Year's Resolution Progress and TMI Tuesday
General | Posted 10 years agoAt the end of 2015, I made a New Year's Resolution to expose my character to tons of different kinks and constructed this list of 62 kinks (and growing). One month in, some art with other people and BlurTheFur's artistic urges have led to 20 different kinks finished, with some finished for both forms of my character. I was not expecting to move this fast, but I won't argue that! I'm all for forging ahead, and if anybody wants to go 50/50 on a piece that finishes something on that list,—or preferably multiple things—let me know! I much prefer art with people over art that just says "hey look at me all alone here i'm a dragon rawr".

On Furry Thinking and TMI Tuesday
General | Posted 10 years agoEver have a day where you feel exceptionally furry or exceptionally <insert your particular interest here>? Yeah, that was me yesterday. I found myself unnaturally interested in furry macro/micro things, to the point where it was impossible to focus on other things. It wasn't even a sexually charged state for the most part; I just kept thinking of absolutely everything as a possible size-change situation and even found just walking around on a different scale to be thought-consuming. Tell me I'm not alone in this so that I can feel slightly less insane!

The Worst New Year's Resolution
General | Posted 10 years agoWith Christmas passed, it's time to reflect on the year and look at the upcoming one. I Joined FurAffinity back in May and have made so many great friends since then, and I value each and every one of you. I've also found my character in situations that I'd've never dreamed of and fell in love with every one of them. With that in mind, my FurAffinity New Year's resolution is to go even bigger. I want to keep meeting people and I want to keep exposing my character to crazy situations. I can't force friendships, of course, but I can certainly force art of my character!
With that in mind, I've compiled a list of 66 different situations, both SFW and NSFW, that I intend to get my character into by the end of 2016. There's a lot of overlap between them, so it's not 66 different images being made (exactly how rich do you think I am?!?), but it's still enough to expose me to a lot of variants of my core furry interests. I've put the list in a separate journal here and will be keeping track of what's done and with what form of my character. My character will be so worldly by the time this is done that nothing should faze him, hehe.

So It's Time to Get a Ref

I hit 100 watchers yesterday and started thinking about what pictures I've had done and what I want done. There's tons of stuff I'd like to see, especially pictures alongside friends or with similar characters, but what I really need to do is get a ref so that I can stop sending artists more images than necessary. I started wondering how to get a fitting one before remembering that you're all cool furries with refs and pictures! I'll pick your brains for artist suggestions!
I'm really just looking for a front, side, and back view of my dragon form using my existing pictures for details. I really don't need too much superfluous stuff such as a character description or props—I'd prefer to define my own personality. A style similar to BlurTheFur's depiction of me would of course be nice, but I know that no two artists are alike and I'd be asking for a bit much with that. I wouldn't be looking for a fancy background either, as that's not really the purpose of a ref (although I wouldn't complain about something simple behind the ref that shows the dragon is macro, like a line of buildings or something—nothing more complicated, though). I'm not too price-conscious, either.
Do any of you have some recommended artists, even if the recommendation is just "here is who did mine and I like it"? I might hit up the same person for my other form at a later date, so I'm definitely interested in someone that has some trust and is easy to work with. Character Strengths and Weaknesses
General | Posted 10 years agoNo need to keep focusing on the bad times, I think, so let's get that previous journal off of my profile page now.
I was talking with Dialuca01 last night about what made our characters who they are. There aren't many macro fans who have weak characters, so of course our strengths came up. The other thing that came up, though, is what our character's weaknesses are, both in personality and in physicality. It's not something that comes up particularly often: in fact, many macros pride themselves on attaining infinite height and power effortlessly. I'd like to ask everybody about it just as a point of casual conversation. If you're rocking a "powerful" character, such as a macro, what makes him strong and what makes him weak?
I guess if I'm gonna ask a question about character design, I should lead with my own answer and character design. Thorn's a half-dragon, half-unicorn that learned to suppress his unicorn side and become a gigantic dragon after "scientific" (read: magical) experimentation from BlurTheFur's Hif character. In terms of strengths:
• Obviously, the whole "turn into a macro dragon and back to a normal-sized dracorn at will" thing is a strength.
• My relationship with Hif lends me strength by proxy from his "scientific" prowess. I feel that if we ever had a problem, there's nothing we couldn't solve together.
• My unicorn half has saved my skin (scales?) many times. My love of being vored, crushed, and generally experimented on should have gotten me killed many times, but having heritage from a creature known for healing, I seem to keep coming back.
• I seem to turn into an actual dragon when transformed instead the wimpy sort of "diluted" dragon that a lot of other dragon characters are. Muscles swell, height increases, spikes grow, wings become stronger… I'm more than just some overgrown lizard.
• Drawing from two different heritages steeped in magical ability, I should theoretically be able to manifest magical powers. I just, um, haven't figured any out yet…
On the flip side, I'm clearly not perfect.
• As I just said, I really haven't figured out what powers I could have yet. There's something in there, but I really don't know what. It's like having two heritages has created a bit of a magical mess that I need to sort out to become stronger or more skilled. You'd think having a dragon half would at least allow some fire-breathing or something! Some other macros are full of different powers, so I'm lacking.
• I haven't really nailed down how to become a particular size yet. I kind of grow into a dragon that fits the situation, but once that's set, I struggle to change it without shrinking back to normal. Other macros have this figured out.
• I've barely met other macros, so I don't really know about the culture or what it "means" to be a macro. I just maintain my usual demeanor but do it while about 100 times taller.
• I actually care about the normal-sized people with whom I live and relate. If I didn't care, I'd be "stronger" as a macro.
• I like to be the submissive one or an equal more than the dominating one. Another macro could easily take advantage of me under the guise of friendship. I often enjoy having Hif shrink my normal self down to micro sizes to see the world from another perspective, and I'm attracted to the idea of some weakening or uncontrollable transformations—for example, a discussion with Kurrikage yesterday had me somewhat enamored with the idea of a hypnotized dracorn with a ravenous hunger that led to fattening and growth (without becoming the dragon). The loss of mobility and mind was quite alluring!
• I still can't figure out how some macros get size-changing outfits! That said, I kind of like being nude and getting away with it, so meh!
So, maybe you all won't have so much detail, but I'm interested in hearing what makes your characters strong and weak! Talk about it!
I was talking with Dialuca01 last night about what made our characters who they are. There aren't many macro fans who have weak characters, so of course our strengths came up. The other thing that came up, though, is what our character's weaknesses are, both in personality and in physicality. It's not something that comes up particularly often: in fact, many macros pride themselves on attaining infinite height and power effortlessly. I'd like to ask everybody about it just as a point of casual conversation. If you're rocking a "powerful" character, such as a macro, what makes him strong and what makes him weak?
I guess if I'm gonna ask a question about character design, I should lead with my own answer and character design. Thorn's a half-dragon, half-unicorn that learned to suppress his unicorn side and become a gigantic dragon after "scientific" (read: magical) experimentation from BlurTheFur's Hif character. In terms of strengths:
• Obviously, the whole "turn into a macro dragon and back to a normal-sized dracorn at will" thing is a strength.

General | Posted 10 years agoThis probably shouldn't be on this site, but I can't fit it into 140 characters on Twitter, so here it is.
My Twitter timeline's been getting a fair few depressing comments lately. Talk of my friends feeling useless, terrible, insignificant… thoughts of them being terrible friends or socially inept… it's surprising how often it comes up. But every time it comes up, several other people reach out and make it clear that those thoughts and that talk aren't true. Tons of little 140-character messages of appreciation pop up to help the downtrodden person see his/her own worth. It's pretty amazing to see.
To that end, I want to point out how I've found a good chunk of the furries I follow on Twitter. I openly admit that it starts with interest in a character or in an artist. It's not always so easy to see how somebody is as a person just from FA submissions alone, so I use characters and artwork to find common interests. But from there, I talk with people. I talk in submission and journal comments, I meet people in streams and chat, and I talk in some IRC channels. If I'm following you on Twitter, then it's gone beyond just finding your character or art interesting. I've come to like you as a person and care to hear what you have to say about life in general.
To that extent, I don't think that I'm alone in how I make friends online. I think what I just described is a pretty common process. Therefore, if you're on my Twitter timeline and feeling like nobody respects you or that you're some kind of screw-up, understand that I don't feel that way about you. You have at least one person who has a lot of respect for you, and if I'm right that I'm not the only one who makes friends this way, you have many more. I know I'm just some guy online and that I'm not in your hometown able to hang out with you (save for a few people who live near me, of course), but you still make my days better and improve the lives of other people. I know everybody will get a bit sad about life at one point or another, but I hope that me saying how I feel about each and every one of you at least gives you something to feel a bit better about when it happens.
On a lighter note, it's Tuesday, so feel free to ask whatever you like. I'd love some less serious conversation.

Obligatory American Thanksgiving Journal
General | Posted 10 years agoSo, Happy Thanksgiving! Before I do the expected thanking, I want to make it known that I sympathize with the people working over this holiday weekend, particularly those in retail and food service. I used to work retail while I was putting myself through university. My area has 0% sales tax and is surrounded by areas that do have it, including a pretty big city nearby. People flock to my area for the tax savings, so I worked some of the busiest Black Friday sales in the country. I know firsthand that sometimes customers forget that you're setting aside time with your families for a 16-hour shift in order to not get fired, or that you don't have control over what's in stock, or that you're a human being who has feelings and gets hungry and thirsty sometimes. I know that sometimes your managers and supervisors, who have to put on a show of not minding working during the holiday, act as if they couldn't give less of a crap about how you're doing the same. Please hang tight and know that some of us do understand what you're going through; we're just powerless to help.
To the 76 people who have decided to watch me over these past six months, thanks a lot for the interest, and I hope you've watched the artists of my pieces too. In particular, thanks to the five of you with whom I talk on a regular basis—
Aevsivs, BlurTheFur, 
Gany, 
march-dragon, and 
Nommz—as well as many others who have recently started talking with me on Twitter and Skype. Whether it's just joking around on Twitter or talking about more personal issues, it's been really great to have more people that are so easy to relate to. 50 Watchers! Also, TMI Tuesday as usual.
General | Posted 10 years agoSo I recently hit 50 watchers. That is, of course, a paltry number compared to what people can actually achieve on FurAffinity, and I could of course earn more watchers if I made more of my own content (I've only produced one thing by myself to date) or commissioned more things (as soon as I win the lottery, of course). But hey, 50 is considered one of those "special" numbers. Having 49 of something isn't special, but 50? Now we're talking! Thanks to all of you for the interest, and especially thanks to the seven or so of you with whom I chat on a regular basis, whether it's on FurAffinity, on Twitter, in stream chats, or wherever else. For all I know it's not as big of a deal to you guys as it is to me, but it means a lot to me to have people with whom I can joke or share a good or bad experience, even if it's just over the Internet and often in 140 characters or less. I'm tempted to poke some of you guys about getting some sort of picture done for the holiday season, but that'll depend on how many hours I get at work to help pay for such a thing.

General | Posted 10 years agoFirst of all, it somehow became TMI Tuesday again. Geez, it's like this thing happens once a week! Ask whatever in the comments if you care to, and I'll try to answer both in-character and out. Heck, ask me things you already know if you care to just to make me spill the beans to everybody.
Second, after waking up from a crazy dream that involved Splatoon, I realized that a decent chunk of the people to whom I talk have a Wii U. How likely is it for us to organize some Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Splatoon, or Mario Kart 8, or perhaps share some Super Mario Maker levels? Voice chat via Skype, Google Hangouts, TinyChat, etc. wouldn't be required but would be an option. Please comment if you have any thoughts on this (but not with your NNID—save that for a private note unless you want it public for some reason). It seems weird to me to occasionally be playing the same game as somebody else I know in multiplayer mode without just contacting the person and doing it together.
