I got a new laptop and have been cranking out content regularly over on Patreon and I'm a bit more active on my Twitter as well. Last month I also launched a $10 monthly sketch tier on Patreon!! I'm still kinda streamlining the sketch tier process, but there are several styles you can pick from for your monthly reward and it's open for both original characters and fanart :^)

As I'm sure some/most of you have seen, Patreon recently updated their fees structure so that new accounts have to pay Patreon more for using their site. I had a Patreon ready to go for a few weeks before this and wanted to stockpile things to post before launching it but the fees change forced me to launch it early. At the moment, I only have one post up and my plan is to post tutorials/walkthroughs every other week (so twice a month). I have plans for some tier changes in the future once I have time to make more content, the current tiers are $3 and $5 a month. I also have a Ko-fi page so you can support my art through that as well if a monthly subscription isn't something you're into. Support through these two sites (and my Storenvy) directly support my original art and allow me to make better content faster.

One of my main artistic goals is to be able to support myself off of my art that doesn't involve doing 70+ hour commissions for less than 25 cents an hour so in my spare time I've been working on getting prints and stickers to sell through Storenvy. Print to order sites like Redbubble and DesignByHumans were a really good springboard to eventually make it to this point, but they take a decent cut of the money my art makes so I'd really like to be able to do it on my own. I'm not going to delete my RB or DBH stores, however, so the designs hosted on them will always be available on whatever products they sell. I'm really interested in learning how to screenprint and currently have (most of lol) the materials necessary to do it, I just need the time. There are some originals, one print, and a sticker currently up in my store but I have a lot of really cool plans for new stuff in the future and I'm really excited about it (one of the ideas is a patch design).

I've also been reconsidering my commissions styles and prices and might be reopening some slots soon but really large commissions are very likely not going to be available anymore. I severely under price my elaborate ink commissions and I'm incredibly burnt out on doing weeks of hard work that takes up all my art time for less than 1/5th what the drawing is really worth, I'm sorry and I hope you guys understand....
Anyway, I apologize for the near-dead silence from me on here lately lol I've been working on a lot of behind the scenes things and a friggin huge project (that's almost done!!!) so I'll hopefully be back on something like a regular-ish posting schedule soon. Fingers crossed!!! Thanks for stickin with me, yall

We've got this plastic Hercules plate mom got from McD's circa 1998 with Megara on it that I dig a lot. It's so old and it's been across the east coast like 6 times so it's basically a family heirloom.

Water. It's always refreshing even when I'm sick and dying because I did too many fireball shots.

Yesterday I saw Coheed & Cambria, Taking Back Sunday, and The Story So Far live and it was really cool, especially seeing Coheed since I've been listening to them for frickin about as long as I've had an account here (that's really weird to think about, actually, what the shit). Anyone else having weird problems with Paypal invoices?

Hello. I've spent the better half of today trying to figure this out and the only thing I can think of is that Paypal has made a weird change.
So, I had invoices set so that it would send as an invoice for a digital good/something that didn't need to be physically mailed, but now Paypal wants me to mail stuff and print shipping trackers? I've gone through forums and other journals and haven't found a solution to this anywhere. It's really frustrating because I don't want to get scammed/have my account banned for not shipping things that don't exist. If anyone has a solution to this I would be eternally grateful for your help. There is nothing on the invoice page suggesting a way to turn off/cancel physical shipping requirements for goods.
Lastly, what's the general opinion on Venmo here? Do a lot of people use it? I don't think my audience on FA is quite large enough to get away with only accepting Venmo payments so if I make an account through them it won't be an exclusive thing but it seems a lot of freelancers/illustrators on Twitter use it and I haven't seen nearly as many complaints about it as I have with Paypal. Paypal has been making some odd changes lately and they have really weird rules against furries/furry art in general and I'm beginning to get the impression that I might need to start looking for an alternative or at least a backup option.
Edit: Oh Venmo is owned by Paypal haha that's awkward.......

Animating in CSP Pro is really annoying/tedious and I haven't found a new program to animate with yet so I apologize for not opening any slots for those ): I'm also working on personal art for a potential art gallery opportunity for this summer which is why I'm opening only two slots; I don't want to burn myself out juggling several projects at once.
Thank you everyone for your patience while I transitioned from Photoshop to Clip Studio Paint ^^ This program is really good and I've about figured out how to do everything in it that I did in PS except for the animation stuff so my art quality will be about the same (or even better now that I've got a brush stabilizer!!).
I also got a new scanner!!! Finally!!! After almost a decade!!!!! It actually picks up the colors and doesn't bury everything in artifacts I'm so hyped about it

Ok so I've figured out Clip Studio Paint and it's not going to affect my non-animated art quality any
HOWEVER
The version I got (Pro), while it supports animation, is limited to only 24 frames. Most of the animations I do for like icons or whatever almost always go up into the 30-40 frames range. The other version of CSP, EX, has unlimited frames but it's out of my price range at the moment. I'm considering alternative animation programs but until I find something I can work with, I'm only going to be accepting super limited animation commissions. I need to think on it and come up with a new price and practice working with CSP's animation tools before I open more commission slots. I'm really bummed about this lol

Commissions closed bc Photoshop broke up with me (pls read)

I've used the same copy of Photoshop CS5 for about 6 or 7 years now and I've sort of just copy-pasted the files from one computer to the next but I guess that's a good way to break it lol I can't afford to pay the usage subscription Adobe wants (or buy the program because dang man it's like really expensive) but I got super lucky and managed to get Clip Studio Paint on sale for 60% off (it might still be on sale if you were thinking of getting it and you're reading this when the calendar still says it's the 19th)
So, I've lost my brushes and I'm gonna have to learn a whole new program. A lot of my friends also use CSP and there are a ton of tutorials so I'm mostly just bummed that this happened so soon after taking on new commissions since it's gonna slow my speed finishing them. I can still use PS for now but I don't want to count on it not getting locked so I'm gonna try to hurry and finish any outstanding work in my queue then take a short break to learn how to animate in CSP. I apologize sincerely for delays this is going to cause, especially to those that may have been waiting to commission an animation from me.
On the bright side, I see a lot of people saying CSP is a much better program for art than Photoshop so maybe once I learn it I'll be able to do some especially awesome art with it!!

I got lazy towards the end of updating my last journal showing progress haha Is that a feature anyone would be interested in me continuing in the future though, having a progress list for commissions? Usually only the person I'm doing the art for (and maybe anyone who asks) knows the progress of the piece I'm currently working on but I'm not sure how many of you were checking back to see what I had left to do. I'd like some feedback on this especially, please.
Commissions are still closed for this week while I work on a few personal projects (a new shirt design and a reference sheet (!!) are two of them) but I'll be reopening commissions around the beginning/middle of next week

General | Posted 8 years agoHey wow ok the holidays SUPER MESSED UP my art schedule and I've fallen behind on EVERYTHING so I need to close commissions for a while until I finish this stuff up. I have some personal art I need to do as well so I might not be opening again until around late January or early February.
This list will be updated as I go so you have a rough idea of when I might be re-opening. I'll still be contacting everyone currently on my waitlist when I get the art for the people on my to-do list finished, I just won't be taking on any new projects until then.

General | Posted 8 years ago5 is one of my favorite numbers and I use it a lot in my art (alongside 7; V-VII being my go-to text filler texture) so 555 is a pretty awesome amount of watchers to have. Thanks for the support!!! I don't have anything planned but I have been thinking about maybe doing a free art raffle after the holidays. 2017 has been the best year I've ever had for my art and I'd like to give something back but I need to finish a lot of projects before the new year gets here so it'll have to wait until then.
In the mean time, what sort of art would yall like to see offered for a raffle? I've never done one before so feedback on this would be appreciated. My retro/neon/outrun stuff seems pretty popular so would a raffle in that style be interesting? Maybe an animated icon raffle?

I'm still learning how to animate so nothing too complex, please ^^;; The character doesn't have to be facing forward, also. You can have them doing any expression/pose. Forward facing just seems to be the most popular haha
