Halloween approaches
General | Posted 4 years agoOne month until Halloween. The one weekend a year when it's almost mainstream acceptable to put on a mask, tail, hooves or paws and go out in public. I always hope to spot someone else whose gear is clearly beyond an average costume. There are very few people involved in furry life in my area, fewer still that exist in the blur between anthro and pony. Maybe this is the year I find another unicorn. Or any equine. It's a funny mindset, but I feel uncomfortable around carnivores.
The old unicorn's ramblings
General | Posted 5 years agoThere is a legend of my people from many generations ago that the horse was the spirit of the thunder. When I first heard that story from an ancient Shaman I knew in my heart that I was meant to be a horse, but was cursed to live as a human until I could redeem myself. Or maybe not, but that sounds a lot more interesting than watching Roy Rogers and wishing I was Trigger.
Anyway, I have been committed to living as equine an existance as possible. This somehow included working at an obscure job in a giant multinational corporation for several decades until they realized that in all those years I had done absolutely nothing of value whatsoever and decided it was worth paying me to retire early. This left me (because of wise investments along with carefully embezzling company funds) with a modest retirement and an opportunity to live on a small farm with several horses who had become attached to me, plus with time to write. I have been writing Transformation related stories for about twenty years, mostly concerned with the post-transformation experiences one would encounter, and mostly focused on equines.
In my opinion this is an area that is neglected in most TF stories- they will go into great detail on the transformation itself, but other than an occasional X-rated post TF description don't delve into the 'what next'. I do enjoy these stories, but for me the most intriguing part and what I yearn for is to be a horse long term, and as a result this is where many of my writing goes. Also, for the most part, since I would voluntarily become an equine, I seldom have stories of the 'forced' or unwanted transformation. It's hard for me to understand why anyone wouldn't want to be a horse. This is also an area where I scratch my mane- most of us want to transform to something, but so few stories feature a willing protagonist.
I've also written (and continue to write) a lengthy, rambling and confusing first person account of a unicorn, which I doubt will ever be finished but is over 900 pages. It originally started as a short story, became a series of short stories that were somewhat related, then delved into a story arc that has yet to end. Eventually I may upload it here as well, but for now am excited to find several old friends live here and that I can follow their work again as well.
For now...
