PWYW YCH comic commission idea - would you buy?
Posted 9 years agoSo, recently my mate started to set up a new commission project - a big and time-consuming one, and I'd like to do some research on whether furs here on FA would be interested in it.
The main idea is to create short (2-3 pages) comic stories with one or more commissioners in a Second-Life-like VR MMO universe (yup, like SAO, Log Horizon etc.). The environment will be limited only by the commissioner's imagimation, as well as the situation and fetishes desired. Want your character to host an island where they are a gigantic (cyberpunk maybe?) fur swallowing every guest connected or just want to see a user being transformed into an in-game character (in diaper?)? The list of possibilities is almost endless!
Of course, there will be several presets (yet to be unveiled!) and you always can ask the artist for a surprise!
It's going to be a PWYW project, starting as a line comic with a simplified BG for $5 per page for 1 character, extra $3 for an additional character and $5 per extra page. Of course, the complexity and quality will be improving as the payment grows.
So, what's your opinion? Would you be willing to buy it? Is the start pricing okay? Maybe you have something to add to this idea???

Art commissioning as a business model (sort of)
Posted 9 years agoBefore I get to the point! Business-processes and economics are not my specialty, so please forgive my dilettantish positions.
The main question is how the demand is formed here on FA. I'll be ranting about artwork commissioning, but I guess some general patterns are easily applicable to anything one can order here.
So, first of all, how is the customer's choice formed?
Some basic factors are obvious: one's personal tastes, expectations about a desired piece of art, its quality and, of course, one's paying capacity. To put it simple, one wants to get an art that fulfills all the requirements (aestetic tastes, fetishes etc.) in the best quality possible and for the lowest price possible. And when there's an artist that offers, say, a good-looking YCH for a fair price, it's a "Shut up and take my money".
I wish it was that simple, seriously.
So what are the obstacles?
First, it's a balance of quality and pricing. Normally an artist would set up prices for a certain commission based on how much time (and effort) it would take to make it. In my place, for example, working 40 hours a week would cost approximately $4.8 USD per hour to make relatively fair living for a single grown-up person, most surely without an option of making savings. Respectively, if one works for, say, 70 hours a week (an insane pace, if you ask me), the labour price can be lowered to $2.7 per hour. Doesn't sound expensive, I guess, but (BUT!) that requires a constant supply of orders. And here is the deal: orders are not something constant. So, to make sure that they get enough money for living, artists (those who want to work for themselves, of course) have to raise prices for all the same art quality. That often leads to overpricing and, consecutively, losing the clientelle. That, I think, constitutes the economic(?) side of the quality/price problem. Not taking into account, of course, the problem of unreasonable price-setting.
That leads to, from my point, a key problem of the demand-forming process here at imageboards: lack of information. If one wants to order a commission, how do they find an appropriate artist? By combing dozens of pages with commission info sheets, YCHes and stuff alike. Such method culd not possibly embrace the entire range of artists avaliable and open for comissions. Which means that both potential customer and artist with best offers are likely not to find each other.
Now, I am aware that there are sites where the technical possibility of finding commissions by filtering the quality/price of their offers is put to live. But the question still standing: is that enough?
What do you think? Is the problem of forming a customer demand solved by making technical means to fnd one artist-of-dream? Or maybe there are some other issues?

'Avatar: the Legend of Aang''s emotionally strongest episode
Posted 10 years agoIf you're familiar with this awesome show, there are some thoughts I'd just like to share. If you're not, it's totally worth to watch it!
We all remember the 'Tales of Ba Sing Se' episode, right? Particullary, the part when Iroh goes to (possibly?) the place where his son was buried to honor his memory. He puts his portrait and lights some incenses under a tree and says "Happy Birthday, son", and starts to sing a song about young soldier who returns to home, he starts crying, and then the title 'In honor of Mako' appears.
Not only it pays tribute to Mako Iwamatsu, a brilliant actor who also voiced Iroh in the show and passed from esophageal cancer in 2006, but it also shows Iroh's feeling guilty for his son's death and - which is unusual for a family show - depicts possibly the most griveous thing a person can experience - a parent outlasting their own child. I've watched this moment for about dozen times and just can't stop crying like a puny bitch every time...
What do you thing about the Legend of Aang in whole and this episode particullary? Is there any favorite episode of yours? Leave a comment :)

TF comic artists - anyone knows?
Posted 10 years agoHey folks! I'm currently looking for a TF artist open for commissions and is willing to make TF comics - particularly, human-into-furry TFs, muscle growth and NSFW stuff.
The difficult part is not to exceed $20 per page, duh!
Anyone you could recommend? Or maybe you are the very artist I'm looking for? Lemme know! :3

Looking for RP buddies!
Posted 10 years agoWell, the title is pretty self-explanatory.
To be more precise, I'm looking for kinda writer training along with just having some fun. So, I'm interested more in writing a story from 3rd person. Some stuff like ~Hi! *pokes his nose at your fur and waggs his tail*~ - ugh, it's just not that interesting for me, sorry, guys.
I usually play with my OCs Lan and his son Damian, both are adult male anthro foxes, both characters are pretty well-developed, from my point. It's not a problem for me to create a new char, though :)
NSFW is absolutely okay if performed in a good quality. Any fetishes will do, I personally prefer TFs, growth and muscle growth.
I'm generally straight, but open for any possible experiments, so feel free to offer :3
So, guess, that's it, thanks for reading, note me or comment here if you are interested or if you know someone who might be interested, and keep being awesome!
