I purchased a 10 foot long cable which is actually not as long as you think it is. I also contacted Canon customer service, and the associate was very nice and told me updating my router probably would fix any wireless connectivity issues. As of now I have been using the printer via cable, but once I update my router I will see if I can also connect it through Wi-Fi. So far I've been fiddling around with different papers and settings to achieve the best print quality. I don't have a die cut machine, but I did make some rather snazzy hand cut stickers~

UPDATE ON THE PHOTO PRINTER
For reference, the printer is the Canon PIXMA iP8720. Remember this name. Fear this name.

I bought it, and I managed to figure out a way to actually make it work in my space too. The BIGGEST issue at hand is I still can't connect the printer to my computer.

I saw the reviews complaining about how difficult it was to connect it to wi-fi and thought that was either an exaggeration or just something I could figure out after a lot of trial and error. They were not wrong. This printer has existed for a LONG time, and during this extended period of time apparently the company has done nothing to remedy this wi-fi connectivity issue or even provide good instructions or documentation on how, in theory, one should connect the printer to the wi-fi. It was only through my own person deep research rabbit hole did I discover the reason it's so damn difficult to connect and some unnecessarily convoluted workarounds to get the damn thing to work. The issue lies with the frequency your wi-fi is running. The printer can ONLY connect via the 2.4 ghz frequency, and if you don't have a way to provide it with that specific frequency you are shit outta luck.

This whole thing prompted me to finally update my super old modem in the hopes that the new one is a modem/router hybrid that will allow me to select which frequency to use. AND IF THAT FAILS then I ALSO bought a flipping 16 FOOT LONG CORD to connect the device physically.

I don't care how good this printer might actually end up being once I get it functional. I'm still going to leave a poor review and staunch warning to future buyers so they know what they're getting into. It's beyond obscene to have a device that's been around for this long, in the year of our lord Fluttershy 2026, and it STILL has this one specific basic functionality issue.

My rant aside, I do really want to get to printing and am looking forward to finally doing it. Maybe I'll provide another update after that has happened. If that happens.

So I've decided to finally bite the bullet and get myself a photo printer. Besides the cost, the ability to host such a large machine in my itty bitty domicile was really preventing me from getting one to begin with, but my friend said she would be happy to let me keep it at her place and in return I told her she would be free to use it too. I want to experiment using it to make different crafts, prints, stickers, and all sorts of other goodies. Perhaps some things I can sell online and in person at shows~

The thing that prevented me from getting it earlier this year was a series of high cost life events that hit one after the other the past couple weeks, but if I want to get the printer that I am eyeing before the sale ends this month I think I'm going to go for it anyway. I do have enough, but I am always extra cautious with spending because you never know what life may hit you in the face with next. Life really likes hitting faces.

In other news, I had a thought about Derpibooru, an MLP image board which I had forgotten about well over a decade ago. Turns out it's still around. Turns out my account was still there. Turns out I verified myself as an artist and got my livestream added to their list. It felt like I was doing an archeological dig and rebuilding the dinosaur all at the same time haha.

I'm creating some more monster adoptables, but I wanted to pick people's brains to see if I should keep going the egg adopt route. I love it conceptually, but I don't think I'm known enough for people to blindly want to adopt a design they literally have no clue what they might get from me. I could be wrong though, so please correct me if I am. I might release the next batch as simple design adopts instead of mystery eggs, at least until I can see people might be into the egg concept. I kind of do like having the egg + silhouette concept too because then you're at least getting some idea of what you might receive?

I'll listen to feedback here and also might throw the eggies onto YCH.art to see how they do once I get over the intimidation of trying the site out.

Something I really have wanted to do for a very long time is to make YCHs or adopts. They both seemed to be fitting ways to get around my issues with commissions but still be a fun way to sell my art/designs. I was wondering if anybody had a preference toward me doing one over the other? I might try my hand at both eventually, but if people are interested in something specific I'd be curious to hear.
