Purchased my ticket for my first fur con

Early registration comes with a free banana. Hot dang, I love me some banana. If you're planning to attend the Maltese Fur-Con you might just see a very scared and confused beasty hobbling about staring wide-eyed into the unknowns.
Wait, I've just gotten confirmation it says "bandana".

Tablet update

It appears that Wacom is capable of doing repairs if you contact their technical support via their webpage, and so I'm opting to repair mine instead of buying a new one. The new ones I have been looking into are cheaper than the cost of the repair, but they are brands which I am not familiar enough with to risk a purchase just yet.
So there's a little update for the poor souls who'd been wondering. Your poor, poor souls.

Posted 11 years agoIt has most likely become apparent at this point in time if not sooner that my interactions on this site have waned and for that I apologize. Art production has been a bit stalled and although I still produce they are typically not of the caliber I'd deem submittable to this gallery or simply too blog-specific. I've also grown exceptionally reclusive in my online interactions which is the reason for my lack of comments, replies, and the like. But noooo I have not left nor am I leaving. I'm just simply providing people with an update on things since it's been quite some time since I've done so last. Commissions are still on hold until one very particular one is completed.
In other news I NEED A NEW TABLET HOLY FRICK. I've inadvertently bent the mini USB connector slot inside my Intuos 4 and even when I use a new USB cord it doesn't respond. If any of y'all know of a good tablet I could look into I'd be much obliged. A more budget one perhaps than an Intuos 4 though still on a similar professional level. Pressure sensitivities, responsiveness, etc.
Thank you all, and I hope everyone enjoyed their summer!

Hey gang, I know it's been a while since there's been any sort of journal or update outside of scattered sketches and submissions. I haven't been entirely too active on this site for quite a bit. I hate to get too personal on these sort of matters, but the deal is I've been in a rather terrible depressive slump. That's declined a great deal of productivity on my part in the world of art and keeping up with the site. I haven't done too much here lately outside of checking journal notifications and tossing up the occasional homicidal horse I managed to sneak out during work, but don't anyone worry. Things are looking up. A car should be coming soon which means I'll have access once more to the freedom of overbuying discounted holiday candy in bulk supply. Oh, and getting another job. I owe some people art, and I assure them that art is coming.
If any of you do wish to keep more of a track of me, I am very active on my Tumblr and even at times put up little sketches I don't submit to FA: http://zsteube.tumblr.com/
Or, if you're just the pony sort, my pony ask blog is full of unsubmitted Septic and High Tide drivel, so feel free to keep up with them as you wish: http://asksomecrazyponies.tumblr.com/
And next year I am going to go to FurFright, dang nabbit.
I hope you all are doing well. The ring-ting-a-lings are coming, so bolt your windows and lock your doors. I heard one of the elves injected Santa with Barbie glitter glue.

Maybe I'll start being active again, but then I'll have to go through 2,741 submissions, and I don't think I have the bladder control for that. We'll see what happens.
Also, many apologies for being distant.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
WILL YOU,
a.) SCREAM LIKE A NUT AND FLAIL AROUND UNTIL YOU EVENTUALLY RUN OFF THE EDE OF A BUILDING BECAUSE YOU HANG OUT ON CITY ROOFTOPS FOR SOME REASON?
b.) ICE CREAM? ALL OF IT?
c.) ACCEPT YOUR FATE BUT BETTER IT BY SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTING JUST BEFORE THE 14 SECOND MARK? HA. THAT'LL SHOW IT.
Depending on your choice I will accurately ascertain a pivotal part of your personality and then likely infiltrate it.

One free request!

This is highly unusual, but I will take a single free request, first come first serve. Nothing too complex please, and content should follow the rules of my commissions (ie. I won't draw Jake from Adventure Time tentacle raping Lumpy Space Princess or your sona getting jiggy with an ice cream machine).
Not sure when it will be complete, but it's free! FREEEEEEEeeeEEeEeEeEee!

I have done this meme before, but I was challenged to it again and the questions are a bit different this time. Courtesy of
Srutis
Comment and I will fill these out
1. Tell you something I'll learn about you by looking at your FA page for 13 seconds.
2. Tell you which color you remind me of.
3. Tell you my first memory of you.
4. Tell you what pokemon you remind me of.
5. Ask you something I've always wondered about you, and your answer has to be as vague as possible to keep the suspense.
6. Tell you my favorite thing about you.
7. Give you a weird nickname
8. Tell you what's on my shirt right now.
9. Challenge you to post this on your journal.

I made one. Not for my original characters but for my ponified original characters. Does that make them original characters of original characters? At which point do one's characters transcend originality? In any case, here ya go. http://asksomecrazyponies.tumblr.com/

Print resolution guck and another inane question

http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m.....7dko1_1280.jpg
Well, now I am very confused…
The specs for the image on the left are 1182 x 1000 px, 2.4 x 2 inches, and 480 dpi.
The specs for the image on the right are 1520 x 1350 px, 3.2 x 2.8 inches, and 480 dpi.
Why does the smaller one not even fit on the page while the other could fit into a corner?

A less specific art selling question

I reread through the FurFright page again and got a much better gist of how it works (with still a few questions floating about), but now I'm trying to understand what the best method of producing art prints to sell would be. Do people just go to a Staples or Office Max, a local printing shop, or a high class art printer? I want to make prints be affordable but still quality!

FurFright Artist Alley: How does it work?
Posted 13 years agoI always thought it'd be fun to go to a furry convention at some point in my life. I've been to a comic book one and certainly my fair share of anime ones. Maybe what kept me from looking more at them was not being a furry myself, but then I remember you don't have to be an anime fan to go to an anime con or even gay to attend a pride event. What really matters is an appreciation for whatever the convention is about. With that in mind
xaviera brought up the idea of FurFright which has a lot of appeal seeing as it is not too large, Halloween themed, is a few months away, and (relatively) local. The problem is if I did go I'd still need to get a room at a hotel, and that in itself is a costly venture. Before even considering going I want to understand how the FurFright convention works but in particular the set up of their Artist Alley.
I did read through their website, but it was very late at night and my eyes and brain were doing anything but cooperate. From what I could gather the set up for artists there is different than any other con I've been to. Can anyone whose either sold or bought art from the Artist Alley at FurFright perhaps elaborate on the procedures more? It doesn't even look like you pay for table space which has me wonder if that means a portion of profits made go to the con as payment instead.
tl;dr: FurFright Artist Alley: How does it work?

And no, it's nothing to do with crafting green anti-Smurfs and pitting them in gruesome battle against their futile blue counterparts. That's for Tuesday.
