Overall warnings
Don't select any shipping address when paying for digital art - select "No shipping required".
Someone advised (sorry to them - I forget who) if your commissioner forgets and selects an address,
"if someone does mess up you can go to "Add tracking info" then select "Order processed/Service rendered" "
Remember that PayPal doesn't want you to sell digital art through it, so don't mention it on the Notes section.

A petition to save the internet...
General | Posted 11 years ago"A conglomerate of cable companies are attacking the Internet – their one competitor – with plans to charge websites arbitrary fees and slow (to a crawl) any sites that won't pay up. If they win, the Internet dies.
I doubt they'll take well to furries on the internet. They won't just want money - I've seen these schemes before. It's a clever form of censorship. Eventually the Slow Lanes of the internet - where anyone they dislike the views of will get sent - will be made so slow and unreliable they will be unusable. Hence, anyone they don't want to have a voice will be pushed off the internet.
Cable companies want to slow down (and break!) your favorite sites, for profit. Click here to make a gesture against them constricting the internet. And sign a petition.
Help us save net neutrality! says Demand Progress."
"...a telecom industry-affiliated lobbying group successfully persuaded an...news website to remove an article that reported critically on the groups advocating against Net Neutrality. The order to delete the article came from the website’s parent company, a business partner to Comcast." See more here.
My Halloween raffle for Watchers!
General | Posted 11 years agoAs it's nearly Halloween again, it's time for a raffle!
The prize is a picture, drawn by me! The theme is
Fun carving a pumpkin :), it can't be hard to carve a pumpkin ...? It can :p .
There won't be much input, it's sort of a pre-pose raffle.
Conditions!
You have to already be Watching me. :) Or at least be an aquaintance of mine.
Wish everyone a Happy Halloween in the Comments, and say you want to enter.
Also give a ref for your character. In the same Comment.
The closing date is the 30 of this month sometime next month!, 11:59pm Central Time.
Raffle winner will be announced probably in stream, and I haven't announced the date! :) But around Halloween.
Cute picture was going to go here, but the Journal system didn't like it; so I left it out. :p
You get a link to it instead. A link! Though it's a small picture!
TigerKat talks about raffles
General | Posted 11 years ago
Some people have said that the disallowed you-have-to-Watch-me-to-enter-this-raffle raffles were vital and the only way they got Watchers and survived as artists. But I think they convinced themsevles because they wanted to belive it worked.
Yay, a contentious journal. If anyone starts a flame war I'm blocking them.
One popular artist had Watchers who weren't even watching him enough to see they'd won a raffle. Not that that proves anything, but it's indicates something. Perhahs even the point I'm making! :p
Another tallented artist who stands up for raffles, says she found them essentual for getting new Watchers. When she changed accounts, 800 Watchers didn't follow her across. I suspect they were people who only Watched her for the raffles.
Another artist said she had the same people Watching her for raffles then un-Watching her again, over and over. It's the same problem.
But most of the onlt-Watching-for-the-raffle Watchers don't bother un-Watching you afterwards, so you have quite a number of Paper Watchers, that is Watchers in theory, or in "lies, [beep] lies and statistics".
No, I'm not accusing my Watchers of Watching only for the raffles.
I haven't run any raffles. :)
And I think you're Watching for the art.
Yay postage :p
General | Posted 11 years ago
Hey there,
I was shopping online awhile back, and I went to about a dozen different stores. And I couldn't believe the differences in postage for the same thing. Most places charged from $20 to $46 for postage, but a lot tried to charge $60 or more. One place maybe didn't want to sell overseas at all but sulikly left the overseas shipping option there, and charged $116 postage, :P
Tell me about your experiences with postage!
Also, with Halloween coming, would you be interested in a Halloween YCH? Or perhaphs something else fun?
I know I've been away for a long time. RL wasn't very nice to me. :p But I have been busy. :)
Don't forget my footer - I nearly always have more artists in need :)))

An artist in need.[closed]
General | Posted 11 years ago
is a very tallented artist who makes the most impressive anime-styled pictures.
Now her artist's laptop has collapsed.
I'm doing commissions for 10% off the base price to help
pay for a new artist's laptop. Do you want to help?
All your money goes to help an artist in need make beautiful art again;
and you get really cute art as well :pppppp
My commission link is here,
but the essence is lineart with some impressive colouring is now $US8 and full shaded is $18, and I draw cute.
Note me. :p
If you are interested in helping, check back here later. She managed to get it‚ so my other plans weren't needed! :)
TigerKat
Hi again everyone ;)
General | Posted 11 years agoIt's been a disaster in RL for the last month.
When you have to deal with nasty people, such as abusive old men who try to claim part of your house, and the controlling Respectable Family Men who work them up and encourage them, life gets very wearing.
And at these times our equipment always breaks down.
So cleaning up the mess has taken the last part of the week, while the nasty people have taken the best part of two and a half weeks.
So....
With that discouraging thought out of the way, how has everyone's day been?

If the plot of detective movies
General | Posted 12 years agowas like the plot of the average action movie, then this is how they'd go.
After the usual starting-the-story routine (detective does everyday things to establish his character, detective is thrown into conspiracy/whatever, detective collects sidekick who doesn't trust him), the detective would find a minor clue relatively early.
Then the detective wouldn't find out anything for most of the movie. Eventually they would find someone who was in on the murder/etc plot but isn't now, or someone who is in on the plot is interrogated.
They would be able to tell the detective everything about the murder plot except who did it (or if it's in the future, everything except who is going to be murdered), so avoiding the writers having to think of any real finding of clues and putting together evidence to make deductions.
Nothing else is concluded or really useful happens until the last half hour, when the detective would suddenly realise the significance of the minor clue and now must rush against time to either stop the bad guys fleeing, disposing of the evidence, or killing the detective.
I thought about this, and I thought,

If we wouldn't accept this level of bad plotting in a detective plot, why should we accept it in an action movie?
Plotting has to be better than this.
I hope everyone's having a wonderful day!Another question about evil flourishing
General | Posted 12 years agoThere was an interesting journal from an artist who had earlier made some insensitive (but probably unintentional) jokey comments about rape. She apologised, thoroughly removed all the comments and keywords. I can underwstand her point that it wasn't meant to come out the way it did.
On her journal, it's some of her commenters that show why most rapists get off in the courts, usually with the victim blamed. And why when the police investigate rapes, they often try to blame the victim. And in one case told her to 'Have a roll in the hay and forget about it'.
So her commenters said,
"Lol people are psychos. They're probably just ultra-PC tumblr trash."
So it's ultra-PC to consider rape is not a 'ho ho ho, flippant comment' thing?
"mean the "victim" enjoy this and that's not a rape then"
It's interesting that there was a ever-so-arty film where the male lead character rapes the female lead character. Some time later, they meet again and have a relationship. It was left to the reviewers to point out the sickness of this, with the reviewers being left to uncomfortably summarise that the film shows it as not a problem, 'it's implied that she enjoyed it.'
Also rapists do sometimes tell their victims that 'you like it' and 'you want this' while they're attacking them.
"the comments are hilarously sexy"
Hopefully they weren't referring to the insensitive rape comments, but you never know with the queerheads...
"they're [the people objecting] almost as bad as them [the rapists]."
That shows what these people think. If you object to someone's insensitive comments, and go slightly extreme and call them more than they actually deserve (but understandably do so), they pompously declare you're as bad as the rapists.
"I guess a male character can't look dominant and controlling in a pic or else it gets labeled as rape these days."
That's very clever. Some of the pictures I've seen...They really did look like rape, even though they weren't supposed to be. When someone gets bitten hard enough to leave a wound, they look very unhappy, the other person looks slightly possessed and is in a very dominating position...that was one of the more moderate pictures. It wasn't from this artist, btw.
"you have the freedom to draw art or get any art drawn and post it as long as it doesn't go against rules of the site."
Which sounds suspiciously like they're saying 'Rape is OK becauase the admins [who support rape anyway] haven't banned it'.
"Some people shouldn't have access to a PC if they make these kind of idiotic comments." "Gotta get your jollies somehow I guess."
That's a very clever put-down! With no substance at all. Would they say that about themselves when they start White Knighting?
"Looking at the site it's either a very unskilled troll or someone badly coping with own background. Probably both.
I just can't shake the feeling that the person has personally experienced rape, and is using it's own ghosts against others instead of getting help.
Basically having gotten caught up in a viscous cycle were everything is due to bad personal experience, and then linking random unrelated strangers to those events."
Isn't that clever. It's saying 'If you're a victim fighting injustice by standing up for others who have been though what you went through, you're taking out your 'ghosts against others'. You should 'get help' (that is, 'you should be locked in a rubber room and ignored, we don't care less about what happened to you') and not bother us.
'Of course, when we White Knight for whoever we are moony over, we are Principled Crusaders! Anyone who doesn't agree with us is uncaring-society/everyone-is-selfish-these-days!'
'Some people just love to be offended and love themselves some drama. I never did understand getting worked up over art/stories anyway.......but just making jokes or even drawing art/writing stories featuring it [is OK].'
Would you say that about art/stories/jokes about racism? It encourages it just as much as art/stories/jokes about rape encourage rape.
"here will allways be bad stuff but we should stay away from it, not try to destroy it cause we can never destroy everything we find bad and after all, who's to judge what's wrong?"
So if we find promotion of rape/racism/beating-up-old-ladies, then we should 'not look at it' and of course we can't judge rape/racism/anything else that's evil as wrong?
It reminds me of the journalist who wrote that his friend using sex slaves in foreign brothels was OK becauase 'he isn't the first person to do so and won't be the last', so how could he judge him, etc.
"it's incredibly sad how they want to smear your name and yet are just making their cause look bad by taking attention away from actual rapists or possible threats by drawing attention to you unnecessarily. "
It's 'jokes' about rape, stories making rape seem normal, art that makes rape into 'just another fetish' that leads to the way of thinking that has said these real comments,
'Rape isn't a real problem anyway.'
'Everyone needs a good rape.'
To quote
"There is never proper "context" for a rape joke. Rape "memes" and jokes etc are a part of rape culture, where you're reducing it down to a joke or something you can just [jovially] bring up in conversation... It isn't. It's a super violent crime and some say a form of torture, it affects many peoples' lives and it isn't something to be taken lightly. There isn't ever a circumstance where it's ok.
It's not just [the easily offended] either that would see that and get offended. There are so many rape victims out there, because it happens so frequently.. I like to use the analogy of if you were to tell a 9/11 joke, in a bar near Ground Zero, the night after everything happened, and made a dead coworker or baby joke about someone that died there... No one would be laughing with you because there would be lots of people affected by such a big issue - the joke isn't funny, and worse you're hurting people and saying something so hateful and making it down to a joke..."

General | Posted 12 years ago"Don't let others get you down because they are just bitter people who will never see the bright side of life. You are talented and you will make it just put your heart and dreams in gear and you can accomplish SO much great things!!"
This is a really nice thing to say to new artists. They need encouragement, not petty, arrogant people delighting in wrecking what they have.
Go on, read it.

All it requires for evil to flourish -
General | Posted 12 years ago- is for good people to do nothing.
I've considered leaving FA over Mr. Admin covering up his BFF raping someone. For all the apologists, stalking someone with demands they have sex with you, endless pressure that they have sex with you, and finally threatening them with unspoken physical menace unless they have sex with you, is rape.
If you don't know how powerful psychological pressure is, and how it can force people into doing all sorts of things - you have never experienced real pressure.
If you don't know how powerful the unspoken threat of violence is, you have never been physically threatened by an expert.
Mr. Admin putting an animal molester in charge of forums, and keeping it secret, I think speaks for itself.
""To top it all off, there has been a HUGE backlash of people saying “calm down” or “lol drama” and “rape isn’t even a real problem anyway” as a result of bringing this all to light." http://furryscumbags.tumblr.com/post/73764755315/attempt-to-summarize-the-fa-debacle-long-post
So to them rape is just 'drama'?
But just in case you thought otherwise, let me remind you something. Far more important than Mr. Admin's BFF having access to your personal data that you gave to the site (no matter how much he declares he will have no access to it). You're under his and his BFF's thumb on this site. What they did to all these women they can do to you - and they will. People do not cover up evil with one hand and then act fairly with the other. Sorry to disappoint your Hollywood fantasies of unrealistic villians who have a heart of gold underneath. Sorry to disappoint your delusions of 'he's made a mistake in his past but he's learned better now'. Rapists do not change - they get worse and worse.
And in case you'd still like to claim that 'it's not proved', let me tell you something from my personal experience of cover-ups by others, including where a large amount of government money went missing. Mr. Admin and his BFF talked in exactly the same way as the other people who were covering up their wrong-doing.
On one of the comments, dragoneer even acknowledged what zaush had done to them, and stuck up for him saying that "force isnt rape" when in reality, it is... adds
