So I Think I Just Lost My Job
General | Posted 16 years agoMy alarm didn't go off this morning. When my boss called she told me to just stay home. That's not a good thing to hear.
I've been late perhaps once or twice before. The last time was due to a scheduling issue in which I was scheduled to work a Thursday although it didn't say so on the schedule so I didn't know I was supposed to work.
I'm torn. I've been looking for another job for ages, but now is like the catalyst under my ass. I think I'm going to seriously start looking into the type of work and jobs I am working towards.
If I am without a job by the end of the day I will start looking for work that better suites my tastes and my career choice. I will also be accepting commissions.
Guys, this was a harsh way to come down off the high of a wonderful FC.

Back From FC and Feeling Good
General | Posted 16 years ago(Dear god, insomnia is not my friend tonight. I can't sleep, so here's my FC 2010 con report.)
The best way to sum up this con is to simply call it amazing. I am still overwhelmed with the kindness, the care, the open and welcoming nature and the warmth I felt from everyone. God, I didn't know there were so many good people in the world.
First, I have to give big hugs and much love to my con family
,
and
for being the most awesome people in the world. They welcomed me in and made me feel like family. It's been years since I've felt so welcomed in a group and really felt like I belonged. I'm sad to have to leave. I'm going to miss these guys and miss having special friends to spend so much time with. You guys rock hardcore, I wish there were words to express just how much. MUCH LOVE TO YOU!
Second, I have to thank the amazing people who stepped up out of nowhere to help me out, offer me support, warm encouragement, amazing hospitality and just insane amounts of love. You guys, I was seriously almost in tears many times because I've never had such a selfless show of kindness and support from people who owed me nothing and really had no reason to give so much so freely. I can never express how much you all touched me and I thank you from the bottom of my silly little heart for it.
Lastly I want to thank the con staff, most of you guys were freaking rock stars. I heard about the shortage of staff and I tip my hat to you and the hard work you all pulled together with to make things happen. This was the best con I've ever attended and it is in no small part due to you all and your stellar work and commitment.. Please keep up the wonderful work! Ch'marr, you sir are a god!
And then to everyone else who made this con amazing; specially my dearest friends, paul, howard, kota, fey, coug, crowley, fur-wolf an everyone else and all you amazing people who helped me out at the art show--holy shit I couldn't have done that without your help!
So as for a quick break down, here's how things went. I'm sorry if I forget any names. I have a crappy memory for names some times, but I don't often forget faces and very rarely forget actions, so even if I neglect to mention you by name, I certainly remember you for the wonderful things you've done during the convention.
Thursday
Long scary car ride from Eugene to San Jose that involved a clown car-like magical packing--way to go Kota, Howard and Paul, you guys have the packing powers of squirrel gods. I-5 was snowy as all hell and icy in places. At once point we hit two patches of black ice in a row, the second one causing us to loose enough traction to fishtail almost perpendicular to the road. =X An approaching guardrail lined with trees is a scary sight... but at least it got the SUV tailing our ass to back off a lot. Arrived at the con and immediately met up with Ebryn and our group and was so giddy. They were freaking awesome. I can't even say. I really only felt shy for a little while before they just made me feel so at home! Best con family ever! We ended the night with the dance and I had my first mojito. Tasty! Got to see oCe's raptor suits and they are much freaking love! I forgot my cam though, so didn't have pictures. * sad *
Friday
Scrambled to get as much prep for the art show and dealer's table done as possible. I didn't know that sign in and set-up for stuff was actually the day before! I'll know better next time. I got to my table and I had a lot of running around to do to get things together. I was nervous as hell but Ebby helped me feel calmer and our table was right next to TimGroat's (
rabbi-tom ) and he is one cool and funny dude. I ended up having a great time. Thank you so much to all my local buds who chipped in to help me find tape and get hangers and fill out paperwork! You guys are freaking awesome! Couldn't have done it without you.
Saturday
Back to the dealer's den and back to work, although I started the day off with a nice breakfast. Lots of people stopped by the table but most were for Ebby. I did get a lot of commissions for my Derpy badges. Those are always fun. Ebby kinda scolded me for only charging $1 for them and
touchmybadger apparently said I was way undercharging, so expect the price to go up as I am putting more work into them then I originally was. They are super fun and super silly though, so I don't wanna charge too much. Maybe about $7. Anywho, back to the con. So.. my mother come by Saturday, and she was shockingly cool. I mean, she brought a set of ears and tail she had from Halloween, she researched the convention to understand what it was about, she kept telling me she had to commission me to make her a character, she took pictures with the fursuiters and costumers and she even told me she wanted a costume! OH GOD, it was too much for my little brain to take in. It was so funny! At one point she accidentally went into the adult art show while looking for my work (which was in the general art show), but then the next day when we went to collect my unsold art, I came out of the art show just in time to catch her walking out of the adult art show! Seriously mom? You went BACK IN? XD Oh god. Who knew my mom was so cool?
I also saw tons of my Oregon and Cali friends and it was amazing to see some Cali peeps that I hadn't seen in years. God guys, I really miss you all hardcore! Wish I could visit more.
Sadly we didn't get to go see Avatar in IMAX. We just got too busy and the retarded theaters of San Jose were either hard to find, sold out, or had show times that conflicted with the dealer's den. But Ebby, Keone, Kaz, Fur-Wolf and I went and watched The Book of Eli instead and that was really good! When we got back we ended up running into
balaa,
bagheera,
fuzzbottoms (and darn it I can't remember the name of the very nice girl that was also with us from Europe) and we wandered up to
darknatasha's room. I was super nervous (as I typically am around new people) so I didn't say much, but darknatasha just exudes this kindhearted warmth that really touched me! She was so friendly and had a smile that just kinda made you have to smile in return. ^.^
After that we went to balaa's room and had a stellar art jam. I was doing my shy/quite thing (damn it) and just sat rather quietly and enjoyed the company and interesting conversations. I didn't really doodle much but enjoyed watching everyone else and being (somewhat)social. =)
Sunday
Got up much earlier and hit the dealer's den on time for once... sorta. I got started on work early and worked as hard as I could during the day. I got through half my queue that day and really got a sense for what the “real” working aspect of being an art vendor at the con is like. I don't know how you big namers do it, but much respect to you for the hard work it takes to carry such a load in such a short time. Oh, yeah, and FINALLY got to wander around the dealer's den after it closed and said hi to a few people. One of these days i gotta actually hang out with
ecmajor and
touchmybadger and
aurorawolf, they are super cool. We ended the night with food and another awesome jam at balaa and bagheera's and this time I was a -tiny- bit less shy. I actually talked to ta few people, although I'm embarrassed to say my social anxiety crept up to bite me in the ass for a little while there. Being surrounded by so many amazing artists that I admire. I was trying so hard to hide my work. XD But people were so kind and said very nice things when they did see it. That was quite flattering and kind. That night was the best I think. Full of fun, laughs, warm, welcoming and fuzzy friendly feelings. It really touches my heart to be involved in such a wonderful group of people. I am one lucky gal. I hope one day I might be able to offer you some worthy token of thanks.
Monday
The saddest day of all I'm afraid. I woke up super early to finish the last of the commissions and got them out to people just in time, although I have like 3 or 4 take-homes. Not too bad. I packed my stuff and said my goodbyes and sadly made my way back home. The ride back was less eventful but still freaking scary. I got home to warm crazy-wiggle-butt-dog greetings and a cat who refused to acknowledge my existence until I went to bed. XD I love you too. Also a very happy Couger who I couldn't wait to give big hugs to.
All-in-all this con was amazing. Amazing people. Amazing events. Stellar convention space. And just the most friendly, kind, and amazingly talented people I've ever met. I really wish I could say thank you in some substantial way as you all touched me and my heart is this big warm optimistic thing. I haven't felt that in so long. Thank you for being the reason the last 5 days may very well be the best start to a new year EVER!
<3 to you all. I hope you had a stellar time as well.

General | Posted 16 years agoWho all is going to be there? I'm really excited about getting to meet some of my FA buds and watchers face to face. I will be in the dealer's den at table #5
I have a bad memory, specially with names and specially when I'm stressed, but I will do my very best to remember names. Please don't get upset if I forget your name. I hardly ever forget a face though!
Will you come say hello?

That FC Meme
General | Posted 16 years agoWhere are you staying?
At the Fairmont.
Who will you be with?
EbonyTigress
hawaiianstile and
couger
Do you do trades?
Rarely. I like to, but I am usually too busy to actually do so.
What suits will you have?
None, but you might catch me in a snowleopard or cougar tail and black and green paws. (random)
What is your gender?
Female
How old are you?
25
Can I touch you?
If I know you and we're cool like that, then yes. If I don't know you very well, then no, not without permission. If you're not sure which one of these you are, then I don't know you well enough.
I like hugs, but I don't like intimate closeness or touching with people I'm not comfortable with. Just ask, and if I politely decline, it just means I don't feel comfy, so talk to me instead. =)
Can I talk to you?
YES! Please do. I'm horribly shy sometimes and I sometimes suck at small talk, but I do really love meeting new people. If I have my headphones on however, that most likely means I don't want to be disturbed. I only do this when I start to get social anxiety or when I just really want to concentrate on work when there are distractions about.
Can I buy you lots of drinks?
Uuuh, I like drinks. I will give you lots of thank-yous and smiles. I'm not a fan of diet drinks, but other then that, I love citrus and fruit drinks (and soda) and if someone happens to find some good tea I will heap many praises and thanks upon thee.
Can I give you lots of money?
Um, I like money. You too? Let's be friends. I don't like getting money for free so if you really want to give me money, please pic some fun art I can do in return, I'd love that!
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Not unless I ask you to. I'm not big on getting scratched either and unless you ask remember, please do NOT touch my head. I have a sensitive scalp and sometimes it's quite painful to have my head/hair touched.
How tall are you?
5'11"
You look pissed off can I come up to you?
Yes. I look pissed a lot when I work and when I'm nervous, and I don't always smile as much as I should but I'm friendly, honest. If you say hello I'll greet you with a smile.
Are you nice?
I sure try to be! Sometimes I can be very shy and quiet and people take that the wrong way.
Are you cliquey?
No, but I gravitate towards people I know or people who share something in comon with me, like other artists.
Can I stalk you?
No. There's no way this would be ok. Come say hi or leave me alone. If you stalk me I'll sick my big bad Couger on you.
How long are you going?
Arrive Thurs 21st and leave Mon 25th.
Do you have an artist table?
Yup, I'll be at table #5 with
Do you like parties?
I love parties! I don't know if I'll go to any, but I'd love to.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Walk up and say "Excuse me." =P You can call me Tigress. My friends call me Tiggy or Christine/Chris.

Please help a friend! Spare $10 and get your own theme song!
General | Posted 16 years agoHey guys, listen up, ok!
I've got this kick ass friend and housemate. His name is Crowley and he also goes by heirofiend or MC Poopy Pants and he is seriously one of the most creative music composers I've had the luck to meet. He's currently offering FC commissions for PERSONAL THEME SONGS. That is one of the coolest things I've heard. Peter Griffin had one, all the great superheros have one, professional wrestlers pay musicians for their very own, so why not you? Get your own theme song!
I'm going to get one m'self soon.
This money will help him get to and pay for FC and would make you one of the coolest mo'fo's in the world.
I've heard the theme songs he's made so far and they are really kick ass. You won't be disappointed.
So don't sit there, DO IT! Get your own personal theme song to play on your iphone every time you walk in the room, because you are one bad ass furry dude/tte.
Seek here for further details!

Official Ebon Stripe Studio Live Art Stream

This is where I will officially work on all my live art streams. So far it has the best system and I love the desktop pro caster--it allows me to stream my desktop, camera, mic and music and gives me very nice options to simultaneously stream all off them, individually stream some of them, or use other sources in addition, or all together. Very versatile and will work really well for tutorials in the future.

Late Night Commission Streaming
General | Posted 16 years agohttp://www.livestream.com/ebonstripestudiostream
I've decided to give livestream a try. They are the only site I've found that has a simple GUI that natively will pulls sound straight from the sound card.
Anyhow, I'm just getting started sketching. Stop by if you're interested and chat. =) I'll be up for about the next 3 hours.

Yellow slime won't stop burning my nose every time I blow it. My head feels like a balloon with this crap in my sinuses. My throat is so much hamburger. When I get better, I'm going to tear ass through commissions. I'm so sick of being unproductive.

Sick AGAIN, but Still Working On Commissions
General | Posted 16 years agoToday I didn't get anything done thanks to this head cold or whatever it is. I just dragged my butt home after work and passed out. Apparently I slept until 5. It's about 5:30 now and so I'll try to get some work done. Yesterday I got a considerable amount done on the second charcoal commission for
I think I should be finished with it by Friday or Sat. After I'm done with that I should have a much faster turn-over with commissions as I get back to my illustrative commissions.
Contrary to my lack of submitting new art, I actually do have some new completed work to show you. A few pieces are old but never uploaded and a few are from the last month or so. As my camera was stolen I don't have a means for easily uploading the large charcoal commissions (18"x24"), so I won't be able to show those off to you guys until I figure out another solution.
Once I feel better and have a few more scan-able pieces to show off I will upload what I've been doing. I think you guys are going love Synjer Snowpaw's charcoal commission. It turned out just awesome and I'm very proud of it.
Anywho, for now I'm signing off to try and get some more work done before heading to bed early to hopefully fend off this sickness tonight.
Stay happy furries, and don't forget to come see me and
Ebryn at table #5 at FC 2010!

Commissions Updates and FC 2010
General | Posted 16 years agoThis is just a quickie, I'll have more info soon.
I'm making my way through the queue. I finished that huge snow leopard charcoal commission and have one more of those charcoal commissions to work through and then it's back to the good old pencil, pen, ink and colors, which I think I'll be doing a lot more of for the near future. As soon as I clear up at least 50% of my current queue I will open for more substantial commissions, but as it sets, I am closed for anything outside of badges and sketches.
I am still planing on attending FC 2010 and my table will be #5. I'll be sharing with
ebryn so come say hello and check out what we've got. I will be offering at-the-con commissions for badges, sketchbook pages, and various character illustrations. I don't think I'll offer prints as I don't have any made up, but I'll see how that goes as I work through my To-Do list.
Me and Ebony will also be in the art show,m so make sure to go take a look at what we've got there. Ebby has some amazing paintings and I will be showing off some of my charcoals, and ink/watercolors illustrations. Nothing that I put into the art show will be for sale, at least not for the time being.
I am still offering badge pre-orders for FC. I'll make another journal on that some time tomorrow I think. I'm far too tired tonight. I didn't get to get any work done on commissions today but I hope to make up for that tomorrow. I am so behind on my FC paperwork. I seriously hope it's not too late for everything. =X I'll be mailing off the paperwork tomorrow.

General | Posted 16 years agoI feel like I'm buried under life and pressured by it's crushing force to either grin and bear it or claw my way out say fuck it, and leave it all behind. I only have one viable option though, and right now, it's killing me inside and out.
I've almost cried about two or three times today, I just needed somewhere to say this; get it out of my head, maybe out of my heart. I'm going to draw it, maybe that will also help.
This will be the last time I make an intimate and personal journal on this account.
I just got ANOTHER FA account, (
cipherT) which will house all my personal art/submissions and journals from now on. This is where I will cry, scream, laugh and question to my little heart's content. I will write cheesy poems. I will cry emo tears. I will throw tantrums. I will be REAL. And I will not apologize for my feelings, but I will keep a responsible and open perspective. It will be raw, unadulterated me.
This is the last time I'll make a new FA account.
This account (
) will now be primarily for business and selling art. I'll post commissioned art, example art and general "furryfodder" to show you guys what I have to offer you.
So, to summarize:
tiggress is now for commissions, business and general show-off furry art
aserettc is for adult and alt. work; AKA, pr0n account
cipherT is my personal art account and will contain all manner of art and content that I personally find interesting. This is often be off topic for "furry" related art but will still be mostly in-line with the animal/anthro theme. (sci-fi, fantasy, horror, monster/creature/beast, wildlife, personal, contemporary, experimental, art, etc.)
I'm at some weird apex where I want to shed some old and useless elements of my life and don newer, more appropriate ones. I know I want and need to have a degree of separation between work/business and my personal life. That's a responsibly I'm going to start trying to take seriously. We'll see where that works out.
I've almost cried about two or three times today, I just needed somewhere to say this; get it out of my head, maybe out of my heart. I'm going to draw it, maybe that will also help.
This will be the last time I make an intimate and personal journal on this account.

FC Digital and Real Media Badge Pre-Orders
General | Posted 16 years ago[EDIT] All commissions requests now need to be made here: http://ebonstripes.artspots.com/commission Please fill out the form there with all needed info. You do not need an account to fill out this form. =) If the slots get filled I will add more.
I am officially opening pre-reg for digital and real media commissions for Further Confusion. Whooo!
My prices for pre-orders are reduced. My normal prices are higher. My con prices are just a little higher then my pre-order prices (con pressure and stressful working conditions make it harder to work under shorter time frames so prices go up, but not too much so don't worry). The prices in parenthesis are roughly what my prices at the con will be. So, get in early while they are cheaper if you're interested!
For clarification, the prices I’ve listed for -most- of these commissions below are for art of a -minimum- of moderate detail, and/or color. If you wanted a sketch, simple detail or cartoony style then the prices would be lower. =3 If you wanted a deluxe badge, realism, or high detail, then the prices would be higher.
I am offering Pre-Orders for:
Badges at $10 -$25 depending on request and difficulty [Normally $20 - $40] Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Character Sheets with front view (3 detail views) OR front and back (3 detail views) at $15 - $30 depending on request and difficulty [Normally $30 - $50] Examples: 1
Clean-lined single Character Sketches with light shading at $5 - 20$ depending on request and difficulty [Normally $15 - $30] Examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
These commissions will be started in December and completed in time to ship by FC. I’ll be taking a limited number and I’ll update this journal as things go, in case I open more slots or close down one of the pre-order categories.
I accept PayPal, checks and Money Orders. Again, I will not be starting work on these until December (except for the ones I’ll use as examples). Sadly I can't start working on a commission until I've received payment. If you need payment options please note me and I'll see what I can do.
If you wish to have your commission picked up in person during FC please let me know so I can let you know where to find me!
As of now this is my offer:
Badges:

3.
