It is always time to build society
General | Posted a year agoGreetings reader
I hope your day has been serine, but if not, if the events of the world are causing you stress; please remember the serenity prayer (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serenity_Prayer):
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and Wisdom to know the difference.
In the next few years there are things we can change. We can work on making ourselves better persons. We can make art. We can share company with others. Each day we can do "a random act of kindness, no strings attached" for another person. We can start making plans for the day when government actions, actions that failed in the past, will be reversed. We can start being the citizens of a new society to come. We can make it happen.
What we cannot change is the current persons in charge of the U.S. government. Nor can we change what they are going to do. We can protest, we can write letters; but I do not think these actions will effect change. I believe those actions may make us feel good about ourselves, but will only waste our energies; energies put to more effect use else where.
But the majority did vote for the current president elect. The president elect was very clear during his campaign what he represents and what he wants to do. This is what the majority of U.S. citizens voted for, so it must be what they want. And it has already begun. Consider the appointment of cabinet member with views not held by the majority, the request that Congress not have approval of these appointments, and the president elect will not officially be president until January 6, 2025. But I believe the actions to come, as they become reality, will cause many of those supporting the president elect will see these actions are not in their best interest. Having tried this type of government, those citizens will want change back to a government similar to what came before.
I am reminded of a saying: When the people lead, the leaders will follow.
This seems to be a version of Mahatma Gandhi’s quote “There goes my people. I must follow them, for I am their leader”.
There are always things that need change in society. But these times seem especially in need of change. May we all listen to others with less bias, be more understanding, and incorporate more compassion in our behavior. May we all created the new society that will drag the leaders along with us.

Information Diet
General | Posted a year agoGreetings reader
I hope your day is going well. I stumbled across this 11 minute interview with Yuval Hoah Harari about artificial intelligence. He made this very succinct point at time mark 9:32-10:57.
“That 100 years ago food was scarce, so people ate whatever they could, and if they found something full of sugar and fat, they ate as much of it as possible because it gave you a lot of energy. And now we are flooded by enormous amounts of food and junk food which is artificially pumped full of fat and sugar and it's creating immense health problems. And most people have realized that more food is not always good for me and that I need to have some kind of diet. And it's exactly the same with information. We need an information diet. That previously information was scarce, so we consumed whatever we could find.
Now we are flooded by enormous amounts of information and much of it is junk information which is artificially filled with hatred and greed and fear. And we basically need to go on an information diet and consume less information and be far more mindful about what we put inside. That information is the food for the mind. And you know, you feed your mind with unhealthy information, you'll have a sick mind. It's it's as simple as that.”

This is still such a sad turn of events. But the turn out to help the Prancing Skiltare house and Sy is amazing.

ManhattAnt! - the ant of New York
General | Posted 2 years agoGreetings reader
Step into the bustling streets of New York City, where amidst the towering skyscrapers, a minuscule marvel holds its ground – the ManhattAnt! Picture this: a discovery so small yet so intriguing that it tickles the imagination.
Back in 2012, scientists stumbled upon a newfound species of ants, a species exclusive to New York City. Meet the ManhattAnt, officially known as Lasius emarginatus.
Initially confined to the vicinity between 63rd and 76th streets, the ManhattAnt has proven itself to be a tenacious city dweller. Fast forward to the present day, 2024, and this extraordinary ant has expanded its domain, spreading its tiny influence across various parts of New York City.
What sets the ManhattAnt apart from its counterparts is its remarkable ability to thrive in the midst of the city's concrete canyons. These tiny adventurers scaling the heights of high-rise apartments, defying the conventional limitations of their species; probably in their quest for water.
So, as you read about this enchanting discovery, let it captivate your mind and envision these miniature urban explorers conquering the heights of the city that never sleeps – the indomitable ManhattAnt!

I can not find the real-life-name of the furry inside the DadHeeler fursuit.
I also noticed HaileyFrost Furaffinity account was created Dec 9, 2023 02:09
By Dec 9, 2023 07:51 PM, HaileyFrost hid my comment and 3 other comments. Before being hidden, I saw one of the other comment also questions the connection between Ian Michael Doty and DadHeeler.
I suspect HaileyFrost is posting FAKE INFORMATION to create drama.
HaileyFrost posted a personal photo claiming she is not afraid of DanHeeler.
I did a reverse image Internet search and it is a generic image, not associated with specific person.
Why do folks have to hate so much they post fake information?

It has happened again. A post painting DadHeeler in a bad light. This time they claim DadHeeler is a convicted sex offender.

I posted a comment to HaileyFrost's post on Dec 9, 2023 07:31 PM
I looked up Ian Michael Doty. He is a convicted sex offender. However, I could not find any information connecting DadHeeler with Ian Michael Doty.

Sad some furries are like this

CONTENT WARNING: the following are my observations and opinions.
I came across something very sad and very disturbing. A furry posting information, assumed fake, to create drama.
Beans-2024, posted Dec 3, 2023 05:07 PM that Bandit Heeler fursuiter had died.
https://www.furaffinity.net/view/54673341
I did a quick Internet search and found nothing about death.
Bandit Heeler fursuiter is DadHealler on Twitter. He posted at Dec 03, 2023 at 1:25PM on his twitter account
https://twitter.com/DadHeeler
DadHeeler did not mention any health issue and said he would be at Antro Northwest next month.
As of 12/03/203 6:18 PST; Beans-2024 has hidden 9 comments from other furs on their post. This includes mine comment asking for a source and showing my finding of Dad Heeler Twitter post.
So I SUSPECT Beans-2024's post is fake.
I also noticed Beans-2024 account was recently created

So sad some furries like making drama and will even go to the extreme of posting fake information.

I stumbled across this wonderful story. It is written and has an audio presentation. The audio playback is in the upper right corner of the webpage. In this time of transactionalism and appeal to authoritarianism; it is nice to hear a story with people helping each other for no reason except it is the decent things to do.

AI and world changing electric use
General | Posted 2 years agoGreetings reader and welcome
Like me, I bet you have heard of AI and how it is changing the world. . . and how it is introducing new world effects that may be dangerous. But those dangers, real or imagined, are in the near future. Right now, today, AI is creating a new world issue. Do you know how much climate change training AI or using AI causes because of the enormous amounts of electricity it uses? Neither did I. I stumbled upon this TED talk on the subject. It is something to think about. The world is changing and we are going along for the ride. It is nice to be informed what is happening.

AI, A path to better humans?
General | Posted 2 years agoGreetings reader
I was reflecting on reality and how fast it is changing. For instance in 1760 the industrial revolution began and made consumer goods less expensive and widely available; in 1994 the Internet as we know it began and changed the way the planet communicates; in 2007 the first smart phone was released, and now everyone can have a device with wide ranging power in their pockets; and now Artificial Intelligence is set to change how we conduct our lives in a way that is bigger than anything before. And with each major advancement, humans changed and became less violent, more compassionate. After all we no longer burn witches at the stake.
Of all the AI articles, and AI experts I have listened to; the one big idea that surfaces over and over is this: AI has all the knowledge, (i.e. facts) but none of the wisdom. But humans can work collaboratively with AI to gain access to all the knowledge and combine it with human wisdom to more quickly arrive at amazing solutions and ideas. They emphasis how this will be the tool everyone will use to make better decisions.
But many have raised the alarm that AI could do terrible things. A leading edge company in AI development, Entropic, is using a constitution (i.e. set of moral rules) to direct AI to do no-harm when it interacts with humans. In a way this is similar to how post childhood adults learn rules of society or morals or guard rails.
The discussion of how these tools are trained, seems to parallel how human children learn. Imagine if we extend this further. What if humans, individually, could brain storm with an AI to consciously create the type of person they developed into after childhood? What if humans could ask AI to brain storm how to live better when confronted by an issue? What if humans where able to use AI as trusted feedback when making decision on who to become? Oh, my mistake! The future is here now. We can do that now!!
I found this podcast a great summary of AI issues and advice how to effectively use AI. As a demonstration, during the podcast they did the brain storming exploration for a stationary store business. I found this a most thoughtful podcast episode to listen too, you may find this podcast episode interesting too
