PawPet - what is the origin

Today's find is PawPet. The Funday Pawpet Show, Oh! Pawpets! Show, and EuroFurence PawPets puppet show.
But where did the term PawPet come from?
If you are as old as a fossil, you may remember the Peanut newspaper comic strip and the puppet plays Snoopy would perform.
"Pawpet Theater is the name used for a number of puppet plays performed by Snoopy atop his doghouse in several Peanuts comic strips which were first published in the 1970s and 1980s. The idea was introduced to the strip in March 1974, the first such performance being in the Sunday strip from March 17 of that year and the word "Pawpet" appearing for the first time a week later, on March 24, 1974."

General | Posted 5 years agoI predict a furry movie in the near future beyond anything we can imagine today. I know, extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof.
Consider the new movie making technology from ILM (Industrial Lights and Magic) called 'The Volume'. 'The Volume' is created by StageCraft, a division of ILM. 'The Volume' is used to make 'The Mandalorian' streaming on Disney+. ILM is building four more 'The Volumes' around the world to rent out to movie production teams. Imagine a fantasy furry world come to life with furry actors. Imagine the possibilities for a movie. Many other companies have experimented with virtual sets using LED screens and Unreal Engine; but it is ILM that has pulled all the best features together into 'The Volume'.

- It is a area with natural lighting from the LED screens. No more Green Screen spill on the actors or props. The reflections and lighting on the actors and props is real.
- It allows the actors to interact with the area. No more actors looking slightly off the target event. Now they see and interact with the target event. It is like shooting on location, but in a studio.
- It allows TOTAL creation of the location. Imagine being able to shoot a sunrise scene and having 10 hours of sunrise to get it right!

A silver lining?

I believe I may have found the silver lining. Given the current virus situation, the social inequality, the social unrest, the massive unemployment about to hit - the world seem in flux (i.e.: change). This is the golden opportunity for each of us to examine (or reexamine) our first principles, morals, rules for interacting with others, any other term you want to use; to remake ourselves. Remake ourselves into the citizens of the society we want to live in. If a great majority of people do this, we will have the new and better society. It all starts at the bottom and works up. First principles, then the rest of reality. We can make the acceptance of Furry meld with the ideals of the American dream and evolve into the better society. By examining the positive and the negative consequences, and there are both for everything; we can use this flux time to make changes that will be long lasting. Maybe the middle path is the best. Not too heavy on the social good, and not too heavy on the individual good. Not too heavy on the tolerance of all, and not too heavy on the tolerance of nothing.
What do you think? Too idealistic? Or the challenge reality has forced upon us. Do we dare allow this opportunity to go to waste?
I hope I have planted a seed for you to care for and grow into a wonderful thought.

One of Adam's longstanding cosplay goals is finding a way to stay cool under his costumes while wearing them all day. He's tried a variety of cool suits and hacked-togethered water-circulation units, and today he enlists the help of engineer and scientist Kipp Bradford to build a compact refrigeration system that he can wear. In fact, the system they build is a replica of the cooling unit in the spacesuit simulator used in NASA's HI-SEAS experiment!

FUN FIND - What is next in film making
General | Posted 6 years agoWOW. Film making just changed big time. Disney's The Mandalorian is using Epic's Unreal Game Engine to create virtual sets. This is not green screen. It is entirely new filming technique. They build the entire set in VR and put it on led screens that surround the set. Yes a 20 ft curved LED screen and a 10 foot wide ceiling LCD screen. The LED screens light the actors so you get all the shadows and reflections of what is on the LCD screens. Very realistic.
If you follow technology, this will interest you. It definitely is a game changer in film making.
My final thought: the Star Trek holodeck is rapidly becoming reality.

The avocado is highly regarded by many people as delicious and nutritious, but the most extraordinary thing about avocados may be their very existence. 2.6 million years ago to 11,700 years ago animals with huge guts ate the avocados and distributed their seeds. When the huge animals went extinct the avocado should have also. But it did not. It is a fascinating story.
