Cub Art and Censorship
Posted 15 years agoI'll preface this by saying that I am actually a fan of cub art. Not sure if I'd ever draw it or write it, but I certainly don't mind it when it comes around. I'm a big fan of artists such as WolfBlade and SparkleMotion, and I love the writing of WhyteYote on the topic. So take that for what it's worth.
I'm immensely disappointed in Dragoneer and the FA staff for the recent decision to ban cub art from FA. Not only is this a move to suffocate a host of vibrant artists, but this is a personal attack on the personal freedoms of everyone that participates in any way in the furry fandom. I personally feel my right to free speech and the right of free speech of many of the artists on FA has been forcibly robbed from them. This is undoubtedly the wrong course of action for Dragoneer and FA to have taken.
Let me state off the bat that I very much respect Dragoneer and FurAffinity for what they do. They've created a place which has inspired a generation of artists to create and share fantastic works of creativity and ingenuity with thousands upon thousands of furs. FurAffinity has helped thousands of new furs discover the fandom and discover themselves. It is a cherished resource for furs, and we should (and do) hold it in high esteem for this reason.
And that makes this all the more saddening, that a place that was meant to be a home for people that didn't fit it elsewhere is now becoming exclusive to only the ones that "fly right". We've now hung a sign on the door of furry that says "We don't take your kind here". It frightens me that the direction furry seems to be going may not be a place that we want to be.
Dragoneer stated on the FA forums that the reason for this decision is that AlertPay, an online payment service similar to paypal, has refused to render services to FA because they host cub porn. Dragoneer has said that FA's advertisement system depends on AlertPay to function, and therefore FA cannot afford to display cub porn. I frankly don't buy that. AlertPay seems to work well at what it does, but it is just one payment service. There are other means of acquiring payment from users wishing to post ads. If AlertPay is wishing to censor the internet, then they are harboring prejudice which has no place in the furry fandom. I would suggest all furs cease using alertpay. There are many other services on the internet that provide similar amenities, and I'm certain some of those services don't have a history of trying to control the internet through refusing to render service.
I still cannot believe, especially in a fandom so open towards gays and bisexuals, would be so stifling towards any persons sexuality. There are people in this fandom that with one breath will scold our government for withholding crucial personal rights to gays and lesbians, and with the next breath turn around and scold cub-artists for posting their works. Face it, we cannot control what we are sexually attracted to. The fact that anyone, MOST ESPECIALLY FURRIES, would ever try to judge someone based on something they cannot control really blows my mind. I do not believe that anything that people can enjoy consensually without harming anyone should be judged or outlawed. What gives you a boner is not something that you can choose.
And let us remember that cub art is NOT illegal. This is FANTASY. If people were drawing pictures of human kids in realistic situations, my sentiments might differ, and I'd also say that I'd be completely disinterested in such art. The fact that it's furry, and as such FANTASY, is really what makes it worth looking at in the first place. We're all into weird fantasies here in the furry fandom. I don't judge you because you like herms, or women with 12 breasts, or inflation, or macro, or micro, or vore, NONE OF WHICH I personally like. Don't judge me because I like cub porn.
And if your a furry, you should be worried about this growing trend on the internet of people starting which hunts, hunting for the next BUZZTOPIC. In the 80s it was Mapplethorpe and his picures of "LE GASP" gay people having sex! How fucking terrible! Censorship was a bad idea then, and it's a bad idea now. Remember Censorship is a gateway drug. Once one thing becomes censored for the good of mankind, it sets a precedent for the future. The next time something is seen as a threat to the common good, it can be wiped clean from the internet, made illegal. Don't be too sure that one day in the future that Furry itself is seen to be something that is a threat to young people. Today it's cubs. Tomorrow it's beastiality, and from there it's an easy jump to censor furry in its entirety.
I feel this is a sad day for the furry fandom. I will continue to speak out against censorship in all it's forms, as I feel it's the biggest threat to personal freedom across the globe. The internet has been a tremendous force for knowledge and independence for everyone on earth. If we want it to stay that way, it must remain uninhibited. So yes, FA should have cub porn. This was a poor decision, and I think that we'll be regretting it down the line.
To anyone else who supports art in all it's forms, I'd recommend also following artists on websites such as SoFurry and InkBunny, as well as the artists on FA. I will be writing notes to as many artists as I can that I know draw cub art, and telling them that I still appreciate their art and hope they will continue making it.

Um... yeah that'd be me. Not proud. :P

I did, over messenger. We were trying to keep the relationship casual. We blew it. :P
3. Who is the morning person?
Thaaaat would be Tibby. When I'm in the US, I sleep in till noon or later.
4. Who sings better?
I don't think Tibby would argue that I sing a bit better. I've been doing musical theater for a number of years.
5. Who’s older?
I am, by just a few months. :)
6. Who’s smarter?
Um, I would argue I have more academic knowledge? I can tell you stuff about random facts you'll never need to know. Temba has more practical knowledge. He knows way more things that you'll actually use.
7. Whose temper is worse?
Um, I lose my temper more, but the few times Temba loses his temper its pretty scary, probably because it doesn't happen much.
8. Who does the laundry?
We both can, but it depends on the circumstances. Right now, Temba has been doing the laundry, because we've been doing laundry at his sister's place. Who lives right next to where he works!
9. Who does the dishes?
Again, depends! At the moment, Tibby works very hard for very long hours and I'm not employed. So I don't feel like he needs to do any dishes. :P

Generally, Tibby lets me sleep up against the wall so that he can get out of bed in the morning without waking me.

Really, the cons are big loving get togethers of really good friends, now that I've met the crowd I'm with now. They're all sweethearts, and I enjoy every minute I get to spend with them!

Yes, furry is pretty sexual. That's a large part of the fandom, no lie. But there's a lot of other really cool stuff that comes out of it. I've met my greatest friends here. And really the sex part... it's there if you want it, but you don't have to have it.

I was posting this journal for the benefit of the few readers I have here on FA. The sad fact of the matter is, I don't think too many people read stories on FA. Which is really sad for me, because on FA you can download the entire file, which allows you to see the story exactly as I created it. But I know I have at least two or three people that read my stories here on FA, thank you to
kleskvadrigaar and temba. So let me at least let you folks know what's going on!
My story that I've been working on for the better part of three months now is almost complete. I've finished the first draft and just need to add in a few scenes before it will be done. After this I'm taking a break from writing for at least a few weeks, and then I will decide for certain exactly what I'm going to work on next. Although, I think I already know what that's going to be.
I'll post the story here when I'm finally finished. Wish me luck!

Posted 18 years agoStolen from Sketchfox00653, and not really intended to be a meme. You're supposed to post it as a comment so you can answer it. Well, I'm gonna answer it here, but if anyone reads this and would like to tell me your answers, I'd love to read them!
1. Can you cook?
Yes, but I prefer to only prepare dishes that I have seen done before several times. I like to do things by touch and feel in the kitchen, not by little words on a recipe card.
2. What was your dream growing up?
I was odd in my lack of dream growing up. I would always just spout astronaut because that would make the teacher happy. It was only in 7th grade my english teacher inspired me to be a writer, which I still want to eventually do for a living.
3. What talent do you wish you had?
For some reason my eyes glanced at the word talent, and I automatically thought of a piano...freudian connection, I suppose. But I would very much like to be able to play the piano better than I do.
4. Favorite place?
Tough...really, I love Red River Gorge in Kentucky, becuase in addition to beatiful trees on the hillsides, you can see these awesome rock formations that look like they're almost glued to the side of the hill.
5. Favorite vegetable?
Uncooked, cauliflower with french dressing.

1. Can you cook?
Yes, but I prefer to only prepare dishes that I have seen done before several times. I like to do things by touch and feel in the kitchen, not by little words on a recipe card.

I was odd in my lack of dream growing up. I would always just spout astronaut because that would make the teacher happy. It was only in 7th grade my english teacher inspired me to be a writer, which I still want to eventually do for a living.
3. What talent do you wish you had?
For some reason my eyes glanced at the word talent, and I automatically thought of a piano...freudian connection, I suppose. But I would very much like to be able to play the piano better than I do.
4. Favorite place?
Tough...really, I love Red River Gorge in Kentucky, becuase in addition to beatiful trees on the hillsides, you can see these awesome rock formations that look like they're almost glued to the side of the hill.

Posted 18 years agoThat way I could tell everyone why it's been a month since my last story post.
Well, dear one guy I know that follows my stories, and anyone else who might have read them:
I had massive laptop failure in the course of july, and that halted my writing for a few weeks while I got a friend to manage to extract my harddrive from a terminally dead computer and get me an external enclosure, so I could get the data off it. Now I got my stories, but they're not done.
And I was on vacation for a week at the beginning of july, and pretty much didn't get anything done over the course of that.
'Twixt the two events, I find myself here, alone, and rather...storyless.
I'm currently working on a story that I promised for a friend a long time ago. I planned the story to be 10-12 pages, but I got into it...and now...it's currently 27 pages, and stands to be at least 35 before I'm done. For me, a slow writer, that's an investment of time. As soon as I finish this I'm gonna continue to work on my Lupirin Series, which has actually gotten me some readers.
Hopefully once school starts, I'll be able to pull out a story a week. 10 pages really isn't that much to ask, is it?

New story
Posted 18 years agoFor those few of you who have read my two Cody and Clay stories, I would like to let you know I have not died. I have the next one completed, but it requires some serious editing, so bear with me.
If it makes you feel better, I have the following story almost completely outlined (A step I've skipped the past two stories. I don't need to outline, but I think I have a much better product in the end) so the 4th one should come somewhat faster than the third is.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
